[Q] galaxy s4 4.2.2 and gear fit problem - Samsung Gear Fit

hi,
just got a gear fit and i can't make it work with my galaxy s4 advance 4.2.2.
i downloaded the last gear fit manager available on the forum ( 1.49 ) but the app freeze and force close in 5 seconds causing a lot of slow down on my smartphone until i deactivate blutooth and force close manualy the gear fit manager process.
any help ?
anyone having issues with android 4.2.2 on a s4 advance ?
gear fit manager only works on kit kat ? the s4 advanced is not yet kitkat compatible...

Probably doesn't help you much, but I'm on 4.3 using a Note 3 and haven't had any issues with the app or the device.

Constantly getting loading screen

First off I want to say I love this app.. I had it on my Galaxy S3 and it worked great.. I recently upgraded to a S4 and now I am having some issues.. I will go to click on something and then its like Themer crashes and sends me to an app I was previously using.. Then I go back and get the loading screen.. Is there any way to remedy this? I have tried all the normal suggestions (uninstall the app, Delete the folder, restart) but I still does it.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!
I am running a At&t Galaxy S4 with stock Android 4.4.2

Hi,
We're currently trying to narrow this problem down. Is your S4 rooted?

I have the same problem. I've reinstalled just about everything, tried an older version of Gear Manager, all to no avail. I am running a custom/rooted ROM on my S4, so perhaps that is an issue? I don't have another stock phone I can check with.

Same here. In fact I scrubbed my phone and did a clean install of the ROM & all apps thinking it might help, but it made no difference at all. Samsung makes some amazing hardware, but their software architecture can be a real mess. Not only failing, but giving no real recourse or explanation, or alternate procedure. Sigh.
The gear app store is a hit and miss I get the same errors at times they need to make more apps for the Gear S instead of Rebranding the Gear 2 apps.

Notification content missing on Gear Fit?

Hi All,
Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue, or maybe someone has a solution to my problem?
When I receive a notification on Gear Fit (WhatsApp, EvolveSMS, etc) I cannot see the content of the notification. It displays a placeholder message "For details, view this notification on yoru mobile device". With WhatsApp that's all I get. with EvolveSMS I get the message content in header and the the placeholder message udnerneath.
Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F
Android 5.1.1 G920FXXU3COI9 (XtreStoLite Deo Mod v2.4)
Gear Fit Manager v. 1.127.0827
Gear Fit software v. R350XXU0BOA2
This started only a few days ago (somewhere between 15th and 19th Oct). I think Gear Fit Manager updated in those days.
Any suggestuions, welcome!
Thanks

Same issue here. I have S6 and it also started recently. Unfortunately, I don't know how to solve it.
Same problem.
Galaxy s4 SGH-M919
Android 4.4.4 KitKat
Just bought it today, No notification content from QK SMS, Netease Mail, and Facebook Lite
Is it because of the newest Gear Fit Manager?
I'm going to downgrade and check.
I managed to solve it. I uninstaled the Gear Fit manager and download it again from Samsung Apps. Now I can see full content of notification that Gear Fit show on it's screen.
I can confirm, it works

@Ninolina & @Qiangong2 : I tried that, but it's still the same. Did you have to also unpair Gear Fit and initialise it?

I can't remember exactly but you should definitely try that too if only new install didn't work. I hope you'll solve it. Let us know if that worked.

Unpaired and still doesn't work.
How about the Gear Fit installer? I'm trying to find out if I can reinstall it if I uninstall? Maybe just a data wipe? Will report back. Thanks for help.

So, you didn't totally uninstalled it and then made new installation? Only data wipe didn't worked for me. I previously wrote that I first uninstalled it and then installed it. You can find new file in Samsung Apps on your phone. Just in there and search for Gear Fit installer.

I uninstalled Gear Fit Manager and reinstalled from Samsung Apps. (didn't work)
Unpaired Gear Fit and reset, paired again (didn't work)
Wiped data on Gear Fit Installer, uninstalled and reinstalled Gear Fit Manager, reset and paired Gear Fit (didn't work).
I wonder what else is there that I can do?

Well, we even use the same ROM. Did you flashed Aroma Add-on for the ROM? There is an option for Gear Fit support. I did flash that too. Maybe you can try reflashing only Add-on and you only choose that option. All others you can leave unchecked. Then you repeat uninstalling and installing the Gear Fit Manager again.
I really hope this will work.

Any news? Did that worked?
Could it be that the Deo mod you have is interfering with the gear fit manager somehow?

I don't think the modded firmware causes any issues. @Ninolina has the same firmware and it is a deflated Samsung stock rom.
I'll unpair again. Thanks.

Gear Fit 2 with a rooted phone?

Anyone know if the Gear Fit 2 will work with a phone that is rooted. I have read that the Gear app that is needed for Gear Fit 2 will not work if it sees that the phone is rooted.
Thanks
it works without problems in my LG G4 rooted of course.
I use Gear Fit 2 (and Gear 1&2&S and Fit1) with a rooted Galaxy S4.

I was able to get it to work and get notifications, but S-Health wouldn't work. Funny though because it works on non Samsung phones. I've been experimenting with Open Fit, but so far, I'm not happy with it.

This isn't the file in root is it? I have no Samsung entries in that file. I'm going to check the Samsung.apks and see what in them.

Gear S plugin keeps crashing when connecting to smartwatch

No matter if I wipe cache / factory reset the S9+ (Exynos with firmware ITV) or if I uninstall / install the Gear S plugin APK it just keeps crashing and crashing as soon as I try to pair my Gear S3 Frontier.
Tried also install a previous version of the plugin APK with same result...
Please note that all that crap wasn't happening with my previous S8+.
Please tell me what on Earth do I have to do to get the whole stuff working?

Thanks however in the meantime I found out that the cause was Block-This (Ad blocker app) and the only temporary solution is to uninstall it.
Moderators might lock this thread if wanted so that others can read it.
Just receive my S9+ today. Samsung Pay will not work with the Gear S3 because the Gear S Plugin won't install on the Galaxy S9. Great job Samsung, I mean really, do they even test this stuff?

Yes, the Gear app/plug in isn't compatible with P. Someone modified the app to work with it. I was able to use it with Pixel 2 XL on P beta. I don't have a link so you'll have to Google it.
I had a similar problem. The issue got solved by re installing the ROM on my S8.
