What does "Music Effects" actually do? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

It's under the sound settings. No difference when using the external speaker while listening to spotify.

I'm not entirely sure what MusicFX does, as I can't find a control panel for it anywhere. You can adjust EQ and other effects in SoundAlive from within the stock Music app's settings, and it appears to adjust for all players.

Sound volume

Is there a way to link the ringtone and notification volumes? Or is there an easier way to adjust notification without hunting through settings each time? With cm7 these two were linked in fact I think it its line that in an aosp ROM.

Not to thread jack, but in a related issue...
When I play pandora and output to a set of external speakers via the headphone jack, I must turn the media volume level all the way up for the speakers to play at a reasonable level...
After awhile, the volume just decreases... I try pressing the volume UP key but there is a message that says something to the effect of "playing at high volume for extended time can damage hearing." Is there a way to disable the message and volume attenuation that occurs from playing media files at highest volume for extended time... I searched through the settings and googled this but nothing comes up...

Looking for a solution to this too... I wasn't sure if this was an option stock or not, I guess not. I'm running unnamed and was going to suggest it to gtg, once I get enough posts to post in that forum
You can long press on your home screen and add shortcut, settings, then sounds.
It's not exactly a no effort way, but it will make adjusting the volume quicker.

Haven't run into that problem myself. But there are a few apps on the market that can boost audio volume to your headphone Jack.

Download the app called "quick settings" it allows you to link them in its volume control section of the app. That's how I link them.

Thanks, I might check that out, although I'd prefer not to have an app to do this.

Power amp rocks. Best ui and amazing equaliser. It has so many settings and it deserves it's top music player rank in play. Tried many players but no one even came close.
Miui player does the job well for those who don't like equalizers. Mini lyrics is a more better alternative with lyrics floating for every song and minimalistic ui
Today i found this in Playstore,it have work on my phone and the music was very loud with playerpro, but it makes dsp manager forceclose, maybe anyone try this without dsp manager(when doesnt have or,bla, bla).

Simple, small, experimental free app to boost your speaker or headphone sound volume. Useful for movies, audio books and music.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Playing audio at high volumes, especially for a prolonged amount of time, can destroy speakers and/or damage hearing. Some users HAVE reported destroyed speakers and earphones. IF YOU HEAR DISTORTED AUDIO, LOWER THE VOLUME (but it may be too late).
By installing this application you agree that you will not hold its developer responsible for any damage to hardware or hearing, and you are using it AT YOUR OWN RISK. Consider this to be EXPERIMENTAL software.
Not all devices support this software. Try it and see if yours works.
NEWS: I just noticed that Speaker Boost just doesn't work with the stock Android Music player (which I never use) on some or all Samsung devices. You can get some of the same functionality with the stock music player by using the music player's custom equalizer function.
NOTE 1: This is NOT for adjusting the speakerphone volume in phone calls (that has its own boost, I think), but for adjusting the volume of music, movies and apps.
NOTE 2: Users who complain that this does not boost bass are right. In order to mitigate (but not remove!) the danger of damage to small speakers, there is no boost in the lowest frequency range, and there is also less boost in the highest frequency range. If you go to the Settings and uncheck "Non-uniform boost", you get an across-the-board boost, but that's much more dangerous to your speakers.
NOTE 3: When you set the boost to zero, Speaker Boost will be off. The notification icon is just for ease of launching. If you don't like seeing the notification icon when Speaker Boost is off, just go to Speaker Boost's Settings and set it to appear only when Speaker Boost is running.

Good really ring tone app?

Does anyone know of a good ring tone app that let's you edit your mp3s with affects like fading in and out and messing with the audio? Doesn't matter if it's paid or not. it doesn't have to be a ring tone app, it could be an audio app or anything that would let me cut and edit and save my creation.

i wouldnt know of an app that lets you "make" your own ring tones.. but i know rings extended or any file manager can be used to set a mp3 as a ringtone or notification... if you want to cut songs you can use mp3 ringtone factory
Ringtone maker might be what you're looking for.

Volume increase

Is there an app or tweak or whatever that will allow you to increase the max volume on the sound settings? It is hard for me to hear the notification and system sounds.
This audio mod includes gain control (audio volume boost) for all audio outputs and many more audio controls. See:

Eq settings to improve the sound quality of your 6P's front speakers

So... Here it is.
Add it like in the picture, and turn on surround sound, but only as little as possible (easiest to adjust while using headphones).
What do you guys think?
Disclaimer: I am not a professional audiophile and these settings aren't perfect for every music genre out there.
Where did you get the eq from
