Battery Life After 8.1 Update - Nokia Lumia 920

I am starting this thread to see how you fell about new OS and do you have significant battery life change after 8.1 update.
Mine experience is not so good, at least to say, noticable battery drain...on slight use I manage to hold about 15h on NL 920, with battery saver and disabling backgroud apps as it was on WP 8.
Tell us your experience!

My battery life is also gone for the worse. With very moderate usage it barely keeps 16-17hrs, anything else is killing the battery dead.

my battery also worse but i make hard reset and do new settings manually (not restored from backup) and battery is much better

Battery life sucks on 8.1
I used to only charge every 2 (two) days and even managed to get 3 full days now and again depending upon work, but now it needs charging every night before bed . I charged it last night and went to bed and woke up today and 75% charge remaining, so it used 25% power doing nothing but hiding in my pocket. It used to only use 1% or 2 % charge overnight but not now.
Other thing i noticed is background tasks config page is missing and now the calander once open stays as a runnning task in task switcher.
I know after a firmware update the battery needs a few charge cycles to sort itself out but i am about to start the 4th cycle now and its still seems to be sh1t

Just found background tasks again. yeehaaa
open battery saver app
swipe to usage tab and tap on the desired app to see its background settings
Yeehaa time ti kill some apps again and save some juice

in my lumia 920 battery life is terrible after the 8.1
ie and whatsapp are sucking my battery juice as hell

guys, you must make hard reset and you must set all settings from fresh, not use old backup settings and dont forget block unnecessary apps in background... after this battery work much longer. this worked for me...

But.... but.... I just flashed the ROM two weeks ago, I don't want to have to reload everything AGAIN!!!. That said, with most of the settings synced, I'm willing to give it a go. Will report back tomorrow.

After a few tweaks in the background settings and an empty to full recharge everything is now back to normal. Yeehaa 2 days between charges and 1%-2% drain overnight. SWEET so no need to hard reset unless you have major problems. just sort the background apps and see how it goes

Im having a nightmare after 8.1 battery drain is the least of my worries..
my phone becomes unresponsive and only a hard reset brings it back to life .
I also get the screen crash and it looks like a old tv not tuned in
but it is an early release so hopefully ms will look and fix he problems because the update is worth it

Hey, I have the same problem. But not only the battery draining, the phone heats up. And I mean REALLY heats up. I gets hotter than my Laptop. Yesterday, while videocalling on skype over WIFI, the camera went dark, and 10 seconds later the picture was green. I don't mean just a completely green picture, It still showed me, but I was green. I then ended skype, opened the camera app and it was just awfully bright. With the flash off, the lights in my room out I could still see everything through the camera, but it was corny as hell. I then had to reboot the phone and everything worked again, but still. It's quite concerning, specially considering the heat.

did you make hard reset and set phone setting without using old backup settings?
phone work much better if you setup all from fresh beginning... seems old WP8.0 settings sometimes mess up things...

Hi there,
can you tell me please were is the option to set up background apps?
In Lumia Black and older versions the "background tasks" was in applications menu.
In 8.1 preview I can't find it.
Thanks!

Find in App list Battery Saver :victory:

Well, I did reset it a few times. The first time I got it it had 8 on it, upgraded to 8.1. Then reflashed it, upgraded and used the backup. You really think it could help? If so, I may try it later today.
The skype thing frightened me the most to be honest.

I never used the 920 before the 8.1 update as I bought it on the 8.1 release day so can't compare the battery life before & after.
So far ive found the biggest hog on battery was the intermittent glance screen though proximity glance is ok but the biggest culprit was having 3 email accounts set to push receive emails. After changing to sync 2 email accounts manually & the other every hour I noticed a big improvement in battery life & its now similar to my previous Galaxy Nexus.

Worse battery life
My battery life was terrible, but after the last update it is much better and with 3-5 minutes of calls a day and HSDPA internet enabled it can last for 24 hours.

My battery life has increased significantly. With 8.0, the battery life was frankly pathetic. I couldn't even get a day out of the phone, and that's with only having 3 mail accounts and Facebook active (NFC & BT off), and only moderate use. It was bad enough that I couldn't use it as my daily phone.
After 8.1, it's a dramatic change, it easily lasts me a whole day - used it moderately today, and now 15 hours since taking it off the charger, there is still 45% battery left. I love 8.1

I agree, 8.1 has extended battery life... Not that I had any issue with it lasting the day before!

For me battery life has become alot worse after 8.1. And there's nothing I can turn off in battery saver

Need Help With GSB v2.4

Hello everyone! I would have posted this in the actual GSB thread but I don't seem to have the correct privileges yet so I am posting here instead.
First off, I just want to thank workshed for his awesome work. I really do love the ROM and everything about it. However, I have a few small issues with it that I can't seem to figure out.
First off, my battery life is terrible. Take yesterday for example. I used my phone probably twice to send some texts in the morning and to check the time. Charged it throughout the night and pulled it off the charger when I woke up and began my day. Within two hours, my phones battery was down to 75%. Five hours later, it was completely dead and I hadn't even used it.
My second issue is with settings. For some reason, when I reboot, some of my setting don't get saved. The one thing that really bothers me is the keyboard. I have Swype installed and every time the phone shuts off, I have to go into settings and re-enable Swype as my keyboard. It is just a hassle and is kind of frustrating, especially when I forget to do and then go to send a message.
Other than those two issues, I absolutely love the ROM and wouldn't change it for anything else. Anyone have any suggestions for what I can do about my few issues?

Recharge it until you get a green light. Restart the phone in Recovery, go to the Wipe menu, and wipe the battery stats (I'd keep the phone on power for this.) Restart the phone, pull the power and use as you normally would. Ignore anybody who tells you that you must run the battery down until the phone shuts itself off - this is really not great for the battery (though once a month or so isn't bad), and really isn't necessary for the battery calculations to reset themselves with new usage stats. The longer you can go the better, but it's not necessary to change your phone usage habits so that you have a completely discharged phone.
They covered this very topic in Lifehacker today! http://lifehacker.com/#!5786717/get...ted-android-phone-by-wiping-its-battery-stats

Thank you for that information, I shall try it out and see if it helps!
I also forget to mention one more error. Whenever I boot up the phone, my Facebook account sets itself to not sync and I lose all my contact pictures. I then have to open the Facebook application and set it to sync again.
EDIT:
Sorry, didn't realize it was a double post!
My battery life is similar to the OP's. I can make it through the day, but since I am ususally down to about 60% by one or two pm (from 6 or 7 am) I prefer a mid-day charge just to make sure I can last through the evening.
I just flashed [ROM][3/22/2011] GSB v2.2 | GingerBread 2.3.3 [CM7.0.0 RC2 NIGHTLY] a few days ago and it has been running great, but I noticed that my green light (battery fully charged) now comes on @ 90%.
Before it would not turn from amber to green till 100%. Should I wipe battery stats?
Under battery use (sry no screenies) there is nothing unusual:
Display @57%, everything else under 10%.
But when I checked Spare Parts I noticed that my little Eris won't sleep!
It looks like Android system is the culprit, keeping a partial wake lock.
Battery History in Spare Parts:
Other Usage - Since last unplugged
Running 100%
Screen on 13.2%
Wifi on 100%
Wifi running 91.6%
Partial wake usage - Since last unplugged
Android System almost a full blue bar, all other apps minimal bars
The phone has more or less been sitting at my desk at work in wifi with light usage.
Anyone have any idea why Android System is trying to eat my battery?
i had battery problems on gsb its a great rom. i switch to ginger tazz. with tazz's rom i get more then 20hrs b4 it says to connect charger thats with the display on about 4 hours and wifi on and running facebook tapatalk calls texts and whatever i think of doing.
I'm running GSB 2.5 CM RC 4 and I now have been able to get 25 hours with 70% of battery left. I used to be able to get maybe 24 hours before it died. Now your mileage may vary but this is what I do. I removed Task Killer which was eating a bunch or the battery and after a visit to Amazon's app market their little app was running all the time along with Weather Bug so both of them are now gone. and finally I turned off auto sync ( I can check my email when ever I want and it takes a lot less battery). By turning off auto sync that was what really made the difference for me. Of course there are many things you can do but running WiFi will kill your battery faster than 3g (or at least it does on mine) and I have the screen brightness set at 18. Just a note I leave BT and GPS on all the time when they are not being used an are in standby their usage is quit small.
What works for you would depend on if you want your email pushed to you all the time and if you have to have your WiFi on instead of 3g.
Again it's just my observations for my phone.
Really you should just do the first suggestion and recalibrate your battery.
Also if you read closely in workshed's log, he specifically said to a full wipe not only formatting external memory but also doing a dalvik/cache wipe. You may as well also wipe the battery stats while you're at it.
Personally I'm running GSB 2.5 and it's simply amazing. 60% of the battery gets me from wake-up alarm to nighttime charge.
Hope you figure it out!
After I installed GSB 2.5, my battery also seems to be rapidly discharging. Takes less than an hour of no use, wifi-on to drop from 100% to ~80%. I did a full discharge calibration on my battery as soon as I flashed to this GSB 2.5
I will attempt the simple batt stat wipe at 100% and see if that helps at all. I'll let you guys know.

New firmware: actually worsens battery performance

In my case, after updating to new firmware and software my battery full capacity indicator has become sort of crazy (for the worst).
Before updating I got a solid 1390 mAh always. Now It depends on the day, but It never surpases the 1270 mAh. Barrier.
Today I´m getting a poor 1170 mAh.
Strange thing.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

From my review, my battery seems to be getting better now, first week after the update, battery was dreadful, it seems to be a whole lot better now. Give it a week, if it continues, email Nokia support, since you hopefully have your warranty, they'll check and replace it if it's faulty, I'm suffering from some horrible notification bug, that's worse, getting your notification when you enter message/whatsapp...-_-
Have same problem. The last update have reduced full charge capacity from 1420 mA to 1303 mA and it's still decreasing every charge. Hope is's soft bug, otherwise nokia should exchange killed batteries phones.
Nokia says not to trust their diagnostics tool when it comes to degrading capacity. The battery should be fine anyway unless it reports less than 1000mAh.
Nokia's biggest mistake was making the Diagnostics available to every user. Now everybody thinks Nokia stole their precious mAh...
Note: It doesn't even matter the update gave us some hours in autonomy.
Yep. Without it most users would actually enjoy their phones.
So the Diagnostics tool gives a bad reading?
Today, when I plugged the charger off, the charge percent inmediately went down from 100% to 98%. Maybe there´s some kind of software bug thay doesn´t give the real battery performance.
P.S.: I actually enjoy my phone. Love it.

This happened to me also this morning. Took my phone off charge, unlocked it and then was at 98% but going to keep an eye on it throughout the day. I got roughly 15 hours use yesterday and 5 hours of that was when i was at work.
I am getting terrible battery life after the update. 100 % at last mid night. By the morning it is at 85%. It seems the battery life got worsen by a 40 % decrease before the update.
Should I restore my Lumia 800?
I get weird battery issue on my latest 800. About every second charge the battery drains very fast doing nothing. The next charge it is fine. Next after that it can drain. And so it goes. Something fishy with software indeed. It was preloaded with 11501 from factory so I have not updated myself.
Nokia need to take a detailed look at this. As it is now they fully think the issue is fixed when in face it is not. As the topic implies it actually made things worse compared to old firmware. Those 15% charge that were lost in old firmware it lasted longer anyway because it had no drain.

I have made a factory reset just for the heck of it. Also I have recently started rebooting my phone with the charger plugged after every charge and then unplug when it is booted again. So far no drain after doing so but too early to make any conclusions.
I reseted the phone on a charge cycle with drain and after the reset the drain stopped. So something weird is going on. Hadn't really installed apps etc... syncing/location etc off...

Unfortunately I do not even have the good days result. After I updated my Lumia to .11500 my battery drains really quick with doing nothing. Before going to sleep I had about 60%, waking up it was empty, in 6 hours! Before I could last about 1.5 days with my phone. Hardly 10 hours with normal use. 3G on but wifi and bt off.
Does anyone know how to change this or to change it back to the earlier version of software?
I love this phone and its OS, but the battery consumption is just wrong!
Thanks.

Same issue with battery drain. Not that frequent though. Two times in two weeks. It´s random I think. Thing is that I´ve noticed that it has occurred when the phone shows maximum than my average battery capacity.
Normally phone shows 1170 mAh when fully charged. Strangely enough I get a very decent battery life. More than 24 hours with normal to heavy use.
But today it showed 1370 mAh fully charged and it´s not passed 12 hour barrier.

Since I made that factory reset the drain has not come back so far. Now I get good battery life and it's usually at 70% when I go to sleep at nights with moderate use throughout the day.
Is this what everyone is doing for best battery or is it just me?
Used to get heavy drain when I get the mobile:
I had to do below:
1) Location services off - i use very low though.
2) Removing people tile
3) Display brightness - LOW
4) Settings->Applications->Games->Connect to Xbox LIVE-> OFF
(with ON, used to drain battery alot atleast for me)
5) Settings->Background tasks->Weather->Off
(not sure of this, but I don't use it so I switched off)
6) Removing XBox Live Tile (In fact all live tiles like App Highlights etc...)
7) Date+time -> Set automatically -> OFFFF (I don't think we need it unless we go to other country)
8) Phone Update -> Turn off notifications
By the way,
I use push email outlook on always

Just restore your backup in Zune. Connect the phone, go to the phone tab. Settings -> updates -> restore. Good luck!

What to do. Now a days all smart phones come with great features and poor battery life.
By the way, anybody knows how to turn off fast dormancy in our lumia 800? I used to get much better battery life by turning off fast dormancy in android phones ( obviously my network is not supporting the feature though)

So you're limiting the phones key features for a battery problem? Why not contact Nokia? I must be honest, if Nokia were to tell me to switch off so many features of my phone, I would tell them to kindly p*** off, as I've had many phones before it that didn't pose a problem like this, if it's a fault, they should act to it, not make you rectify their mistakes. At the end of the day, if you broke your phone accidently, would they fix it for you? So why should you?

[Q] Lumia 800 Battery life

Hi Guys,
My lumia 800 on 100% charging shows the remnaing battery 1240 mAh and full capacity at 1470 mAh.
If I keep the power source even after 100% of charge, the remaining batter capacity is getting increated from 1240 mAh.
I am confused whether I should keep on charging it even after 100% charge or not?
if you put your lumia in bed while being charged, you'll found something amazing
Please explain.
I think they're trying to say 'charge your phone while you sleep'.
If not, then they might need a therapist.
Getting the new firmware this weekend at nokia care. Will see the performance after that. Currently i am getting 12-15 hours with edge is always on.

Hi,
I always see people using the diagnostic tool "battery status". I've a "Detailed Battery Info" - section in the diagnostic tools too, and there are much more informations including a (as far as I know) never discussed "StateOfHealth".(see attached picture 1) I myself have no problems with my battery at all, and my value of StateofHealth is at 858. Interesting to know, what values people have, that claim problem with battery.

Lumia 800 Battery Life
With regard to the above comments, when i got the phone the battery life was so so. After downloading the latest firmware update it seemed to get a lot worse. One day it didn't make it all the way through & that was after just a handful of phone calls and a handful of texts. So I did the hard reset & suddenly the battery was great. I was using the battery saver admittedly (owing to the loss of confidence) but last night it reported I still had one and a half days charge left and had used about 30%. I would therefore very strongly recommend doing a hard reset once you have the latest update. I know it's a bind but if like me you have all your contacts and calendar synced to Outlook via the Outlook connector it's not so bad. The contacts & calendar just reappeared on the phone as if by magic once I put my Hotmail password in. I'll obviously be monitoring the battery for a while because it let me down at work before I reset it, but I'm pleased to say that I love it again now & would recommend it to anyone. It's a gorgeous phone.
Okey. Here are some numbers. We like numbers, as they don't lie or making things up.
Before factory reset my Current (Discharging) was around 180.
After factory reset it finds itself around 140.
I've tried with and without wifi, with and without data connection, both before and after the factory reset.
I guess it's like someone mentioned. Some application got stuck and caused the battery drain.
I'm going to reinstall my apps I had before and after each installation check the battery drain to see wich application is causing it.
A good OS shouldn't encounter problems like this. Nokia and Microsoft needs to work on the stability. The Lumia 800 AND the OS has a great potential but still lacks on several functions and stability.
I don´t have this problems.
I charged my phone yesterday evening (22 hours ago)
and still have 75% and 1d 5h left.
I phoned a little bit an was a few times online (Wlan)
Browser and Marketplace
The Phone is new and I hope the battery will get better.
I updated it, before testing batterylife on old version.
But it isn´t as good as my last phone:
my htc Trophy made about 5 Days if i used it like my lumia now
I don´t installed the app you all use to test your battery
(sometimes i think this is the app, that drains your battery,
because it is not wp7 that needs a lot of battery, my last wp7 phone had a small battery an very long live)
and...
.. i have no problem with loose buttons.
Factiry reset
Well I finaly took the plunge and did the reset. I now have a normal working battery (at least for now). Wish I had done this earlier.
I strongly recommend that anyone with battery problems does the same.

I have got a massive increase in battery life and am not quite sure how.
I uninstalled the diagnostics app and it seemed to go downhill from there (sure it's a coincidence though). At this point battery life was a joke, couldn't get through the day with light use. The other change at the same time that could have had an effect was switching to use the Nokia charger rather than the one from my Galaxy S.
I reinstalled the diagnostics app and also turned 3G off (work and home both have wifi). However, I have now turned it back on, and since then battery life is much better and the phone now easily gets through the day.
Maybe try toggling 3G off for a day and an overnight charge and turn it back on and see if it makes a difference.
There is something wrong at the driver level with this phone I'm sure.
My phone has been fine ever since the battery life jumped up, it's not a fluke.
I made 27 hours with heavy usage (wifi+3g+games+constant fb)
Mine has made 3 days and 14 hours (Not that heavy usage. Mostly texting and some calls) and it's got 18% left.
OK,
I read too much different views...
Tomorrow my new Lumia is coming
I am able to check it before do the payment.
So, what I have to do? To look in the menu for diagnostic tool or to dial ##634#?
Is it that the right combination?
Or just to pay it and to let it die without battery, then hoping to turn itself on with good battery life?
Please give me some advise..!

Have you noticed what app was causing it? Before my restore i had 14-17h left according to the phone. After the reset i had 36h left according to the phone...now 3 days later i´m back at 16h. It lasted for 2 days the good battery life...

What is sucking all of my battery?

So in the last few weeks, my standby time has gone down a great deal. I have power efficiency and power saver turned on. All of my accounts are on manual sync and I don't sync them because I am trying to get an idea of what is sucking away my power. My screen brightness is set to 20% and I hardly use my phone for calls during the day as I use my desk phone for that. Wifi and bluetooth are disabled. I really have a love/hate relationship with this phone.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm actually on the same boat. Just this morning I unplugged it...battery said 100% then 4.5hrs later its down to 17%. The phone was running pretty hot too...I even mentioned it too my wife and she said it was pretty hot. Not doing too much with it while it happened. Just woke up ...poked around on xda and fb. Then took my lil one to the bus stop while taking the dog for a walk..come 11oclock my phone was at 17%....I'm gonna wipe and start all over..hopefully it gets whatever is causing the issues. I usually get a good 10-16 hrs depending on use.

Have you tried using a different battery? I bought an anker battery online and it turned out to be better than the stock battery. Maybe my stock one was faulty, can't really explain. But you should try it.

download badass battery from the market, it will tell you everything!
Two days ago my amaze started doing what you describe, battery life from 100% to 10% in about 5 hrs MAX, also the phone was very hot, so I pull out the battery but with no results. I notice that 4g was always downloading data, I verified the running services on the phone and discover the calendar apk was rebooting like crazy...the real problem was peep calendar sync was somehow stuck and after turning it to manual voilá! problem solved, temperature goes down, 4g stopped working and battery stopped draining. hope this help think you may found a solution verifying running services.
My amaze is 100% stock.
What helped my battery life was reducing sync frequency. Coming from a MT4G, I was used to updating work mail every 5 minutes. Changed all my sync timers to 1 hour and my battery life improved from 6 hours (including standby) to over 20 hours. I also disabled wifi increased performance (I had previously enabled it) and used medium brightness. A shame, that last one, because the screen is beautiful at full brightness.
That's weird. I have everything synced and I still get about 6 hours a day of use. Of course not heavy use though.
OK, I installed badass battery. I also turned off the weather widget. I removed my phone from the charger at 730am this morning and at 330pm, my battery is at 95% according to badass battery. I also turned off the wallpaper I was using that was displaying 4 clocks in 4 diffent time zones. I wouldn't have thought that those 2 things would drain the battery like it was.
Like I said........Love/Hate relationship.
I installed screen filter from the market last night and used it to turn off the backlight from the hardware buttons, and I also reduced the sync frequency like someone else said (and turned some useless ones off completely). I unplugged my phone at about 8:50 a.m. this morning. It is now 7:53 p.m., and my battery has only lost 22% of its charge (unheard of for me after 11 hours). Don't know which of those helped more, but my battery life is definitely a lot better.

Wow! I wish I had battery power like that. I was on NRG's ROM but found the battery to be draining pretty fast (~7 hours with moderate use). I installed fourth bar sense last night because of all the positive battery reviews I heard. Removed my charger at 700AM, it is now almost 830AM and I am at 88% with light use (drained too fast for 1.5 hours in minimal use IMO). I am trying to control the syncing and its auto-brightness

Auto-brightness will never help you save battery. The best option IMO is 20 - 33% brightness

That's almost too hard to believe! You don't have Gmail?
Are you rooted and using a custom rom?
Really depends on what's running, live wallpaper will definitely suck the life out of a battery but other apps do as well. I installed an auto loan program once and over the next couple of days my battery life seemed possessed, you could almost watch it drain, 60, 59, 58.... so I uninstalling things and when I got to that it went back to normal. Not sure what causes this, sloppy programming, nefarious evil things, who knows. I never have always connected anything, that's just asking for a kick me. I also use custom roms and that really makes a big impact on the plus side. I get a good full day of pretty heavy use out of my amaze but I also have a spare Anker battery just in case, that to me is cheap insurance especially on the road.

I am not sure how that is possible as I wouldn't think the soft key lighting would suck much battery life, not to mention I use that app and get no where near those hours. I know sync will increase it, but that much? Got a screen shot of this claim?
Even in stand by mode, the battery drops more than 30% for me in 8 hours if I forget to charge it overnight.

Batterylife worse after update

Hello.
I'm just wondering if anyone know how the Estimated Battery life function in the battery-menu works on the Mate 20 Pro. When I compare my phone vs my girlfriends I have a much lower expected battery life compared to her, with approximately the same usage and settings on both Mate 20s.
If I remember from the top of my head, I get an average of 50 hours expected at the Ultra Powersaver Settings, compared to her phone which is expected at over 200 hours when fully charged. I'm currently running the .153 update, she's still at the previous update and is getting significantly better batterylife than my device.
I've tried rebooting and clearing cache from the Recovery Menu, monitoring the apps from Settings>Battery where everything seems normal, changed resolution to Smart Resolution and 'Optimizing' the phone through the batterymenu.
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Same problem here, since I installed the 153 update I have sudden battery drain bursts while the phone is idle. Battery will go from 60-80% to 0% in less than an hour.
It's happened twice during the last days: once while I was sleeping (so no phone activity caused by myself) and just right now. I've also cleared app cache, but it hasn't solved anything.
In the Settings->Battery->Usage it reports that "Phone" is draining the battery (no calls were made during that period). No other app has a high battery usage.
Is this a known bug that has been fixed in future updates?
Hi,
I have also experienced the same problem after I installed the .153 update. Battery drain is very noticable and I have factory reset/cleared the system cache but there is no difference. Huawei support have told me the battery may be faulty and so I will need to send it off for repair but i now think it is possibly a fault in the update.
Not sure what to do ?
I have .153 version and everything is working perfectly.
Try to clean cache and use it for a few days for the battery AI to settle in. That's what I usually do after a minor update. If the update is big, I would backup and do clean cache and factory reset together. BTW, after 171 update, I had experienced 3% per hour standby battery drain. But after factory reset, it's down to 0.4% per hour. Quite impressive.

Hey what are you using to backup? Using Huawei it wants to put it on hisuite via laptop since I don't have external nano SD. Is this what you used? Thanks
I use a USB type C OTG Stick with a Micro SD card inserted. Alternatively, you can also use any USB stick with a type C OTG cable. Using Hisuite via laptop should also be easy and reliable.
Coming from a 6T i have been dissapointed with the battery on mate 20 pro , everyone has hyped this phone on battery life . first it dont seems to idle drain not as good as 6T will give it a couple of cycles but at the moment looks like selling this and going back to 6T
Best battery life ever, use it all day, tons of surfing, taking many pics, listen to FLACS on my Sony wh1000xm2 and hardly ever end the day below 60%. Am on 153.
I did hear that staring at your screen and settings all day long is bad for your battery. Just saying...

I have both and I will say that 6T battery is very impressive but I am seeing similar batt life on mate 20 pro. Easily get 2 days with light to moderate use. Your milage may vary.
Have Had the same problem when i got the phone recently , setup my accounts and apps then got two updates in the same day 153 and 171 , the battery is good not bad but i just feel its not like everyone is saying i can get a more than a full day usage out of it but i just have to turn off everything except for wifi and 4g , disabling raise to wake and stay connected while in sleep specifically helped the battery life a lot but i still think it drains too much specially in standby where i can lose over 10% overnight and when browsing chrome over 4g (simple surfing not streaming)
i will try to backup and do a factory reset and see what happens.
BTW this my usage from yesterday ,not bad but this is with bluetooth off , mostly on wifi , raise to wake off , turn off data when the phone sleep on , location off , auto rotation off, manage apps manually only a handful are allowed in background , only autosync for gmail on and screen brightness barely above 50% mostly 30% or something

I was in the same situation when updating from 171 to 182, where the battery barely lasted 4 hours SOT, yesterday I did the factory reset and charged my phone to 100% I unplugged it at 9:30 AM and just plugged it in again today at 1:40PM, managed to get 8hours SOT with plenty usage, mails, spotify, netflix (via chromecast) and youtube overnight to sleep, bluetooth ang 4g on all time (most of the surfing was on wifi which is also always on) no need to turn off the location or something, auto brightness and QHD+ resolution
unfurtunately I was so excited that i forgot to take screenshots before plugging the phone, but I'm pretty sure that the factory reset + cache wipe definitely helped
i dont know man, have tried factory reset yesterday unplugged today at 10am didnt turn off anything left resolution at smart, i only disabled raise to wake because i dont like it, all apps managed automatically couple of uber rides, 90 mins of calls , surfing mostly on wifi , remote desktop, no streaming videos or music its now 11.30 iam at 49% with 2.5h sot, i think its improved but still wont reach that 8h sot unlesss i turn off more things like before still i think the vattery is great but not behaving like a 4200mah one seems like the screen specially and standby power consumptio is high, btw do you have the lg or boe scren because i saw people reporting worsr battery life after replacing their green lg screens with boe, o have the boe one maybe its the culprit.

I have a BOE screen, I havent used the phone that much today but performance and usage is basically the same, mostly because I use this as my "everything" phone both personal and job, I would recommend taking it to warranty if you can because if the factory reset + cache clear didnt worked I'm not sure what that could be as the device is still very new to have a considerable battery wear
i dont think its that bad to take it to warranty, actually compared to the galaxy s8 its great plus i imported it so no warranty option, i just feel it coukd have been more, it appears when screen is on i am kosing about 1% every 5-7 minutes whatever i am doing, i dont know if its normal, just today i already lost 16% in 3 hours with only 25 minutes of sot and wasnt doing much, i started suspecting google chrome is the culprit or the screen is power hungry, also when you factory reset did you install everything from scratch because i restored a full backup including apps and app data from hisuite may be i should install everything from scratch i dont know

I restored from my google account, which only restores contacts and apps (but installs the apps from zero) I had some experiences with several backup apps/services which affected my devices so i decided to go from 0
will try to factory reset and only restore image and videos and install aoos from scratch and see what happens
