[Q] Force android to launch browser - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings. I am new to this forum and i am sorry if i make some mistakes.
I am developing a network that will have a welcome screen right after the Wifi connection of the device. The welcome screen is an html file that is downloaded from the router. When i try this system on IOS platform a captive portal screen (pseudo browser) is launched and read the HTML file.
Android platform on the other hand is only pop up a notification that is required to tap in order to open the html file (launching an installed browser)
Is it possible to force the device to automatic launch browser without poping the notification?
Thank you.

Hi,
Are you still looking into this? I am having the same needs for my application. I have done some research already and got it working on some versions of Android.
Do you want to talk about it?

[Q] Launcher Pro

Hey guys,
This might be really stupid but Launcher Pro has expired and I can't install any of the new files. I am using shubcrafts android build btw.
Is there any way of installing it? I have also allowed android to install foreign apps (so to speak).
Thanks.
Also it wont let me access anything and just keeps opening up a web browser. I replaced the android file but that didn't do anything. I am thinking of just installing a new build.
a coworker of mine had the same issue today. I'm just reposting the link from another website, since I typically come to xda to find answers to stuff like this... either manually type this into your ANDROID browser, or if you could somehow make it to this page from your phone, just click this link... from your phone lol
market://search?q=pnamerg.adw.launcher
it is the direct adwlauncher link to the android market!
hope this helps! =)

[Q] Offline calendar provider

Hello,
standard Android instalation has 2 providers - Google and XChange. So question is:
is there any offline calendar provider out?
My idea is that it would store calendar data in the db without any need to go online or sync with Google or Microsoft server and I would be able to use common calendar applications. Is it possible ever or am I odd?
Hi
If you are odd then I am odd too. I know this is an old thread. But if you have continued to be an Android patron and have the latest Android OS then there is a solution for you here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871053
I can confirm that it works on an emulator.
wrong forum for a question

Help needed with iOS apps

Hi everyone, I'm working for a real estate company at the moment and they are looking to get an app running on the android platform that we can use at our open homes. There is one on the play store called Open Home Register, but its crap, I paid for it and it doesn't work that well.
There is also one on iOS called OpenHome Pro, I've been in contact with the dev, and at the moment they have no plans to release an android version.
So, my question is, if I got permission, whats the work involved porting the app, or even rewriting to work on the android system, both tablet and phone? On average how much would we be spending on a dev to help us with that?
If somebody could help me that world be great.
Also I should mention that I have permission to work on the Open Home Register app, but the way its working just doesn't make things easier for us, so I thought start again using OpenHome Pro as our base because its a much better app.
Thanks in advance guys/girls,
Evil.

[Q] How to open a support ticket to google?

Hi guys,
I have created a tiny app to automate my phone (a Samsung Galaxy S4) to do a simple task of my daily basics needs.
Basically it turns ON and OFF the bluetooth radio of my phone when I drive my car so it connects to the hands-free device of my car.
The application works great on my Android 4.3 device, however on Android 4.4 (KitKat) it doesn't work because it uses Google Play Services API for driving recognition and they (google) seemed to have changed the API on KitKat!
So my question is, can someone help me open a ticket to google to question about that changes on the API?
Google only allows tickets from anyone with one of Google Apps for Business, Education, Government, or Nonprofit accounts!
BTW: The app is named "bluetooth drive link" and is available at Google Play -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ferfig.bluetoothdrivelinkdemo
Anyone?!
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
still nothing?!
Still the wrong place to ask
Edited: Now it's in the right place, so maybe you have more luck:laugh: BTW, nice app.

[Q] CTS, Google Play and android partnership

Hi everyone!
We have our device which runs on customized Android OS. We want to license our OS to get official Google Play and other services so we follow official instruction and write emails to android-partnerships[at]google.com but we just get auto-reply with link to form which we need to fill, so we did it, twice and that's all. No answer. We try to write another email to android-partnerships[at]google.com and receive same answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in Android! A member of the Android Partnerships team will review your email and respond appropriately.
If you are interested in licensing Google's Android applications including Google Play, please let us know a little about your company by filling out the form located at the link below.
