ATT LTE? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I have recently had this phone come into my possession, and had put in my ATT Sim to see if it would work. After switching to global mode and adding an APN, it connected. The only thing is it refuses to connect to LTE. Is it possible to run ATT LTE on the Verizon version? It runs the MK2 software.

As far as ive heard its different LTE bands (radios/modems)

A few guys have gotten LTE to show on their att compatible straight talk sim cards which is the same as any att sim. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672843

If you're in an area where AT&T is pushing out AWS band 4, you'll get LTE. That's because the band is compatible with the AWS bands that VZ uses. If not, you'll get HSPA+ (or worse).

T-Mobile user - is the Optimus G right for me?

I'm on a T-Mobile contract, and I drool over the development support of the Nexus 4, but I need to have a SD card to put all my music on my phone. I plan on doing the N4 conversion, but I need the phone to do these things:
1) T-Mobile support for HSPA or LTE in New York City and Central NJ. Does T-Mobile LTE work on this phone?
2) SD card support
3) Tethering on T-Mobile. I don't have their official tethering plan but it works on my Galaxy S II CM10 rom.
Experiences?
T mobile lte will work once they turn on it. This phone uses band 4 and 17 and t mobile uses band 4 for lte.

Thanks. I wonder if it's possible to flash the T-Mobile radio from the N4 and it would work. Since they're basically the same phone...
I haven't gotten the phone yet so I can't test.

Woah so your saying the E970 will be compatable on T-Mobiles LTE Network? Im in washington DC BTW.
If you sim unlock it, you bet.

Yes

Thanks for the confirmation for LTE. Now would it work for T-Mobile's 3G HSPA?

Um, you shouldn't be so quick to answer incorrectly. It'll only work in the cities that tmo has refarmed. Google it for the list of cities. Search term "t mobile spectrum refarming".

Yes double this. I just switched my optimus g to tmobile and it will definately pick up edge but hspa+ is in some areas. Fortunately im in washington DC so its cool sometimes. Unless im moving around in dc then its just a constant in and out. It seems like Tmobile is 1 full step behind at&t when it comes to service and data. They go from hspa+ in dc to Edge but on at&t at least it goes from lte to hspa+ also the quality does not drop anywhere near as much. Tmobile feels like a souped up prepaid service.
My money is on T-mobile. For almost half the monthly cost of AT&T, i get consistent hspa+ speeds of 10-12mb down and 1-2mb up, in my city's refarmed 1900mhz T-mobile market. When T-mobile flips the switch on their LTE, it will be comparable to AT&T/Verison/Sprint LTE, with faster fallback hspa+ speeds and at significant cost savings to boot imo.

The OG can pick 1900 frequencies for HSPA so you'll get 3G speed. That's until T Mobile switches frequencies.

I wish you guys could read. Not every tmo market has 1900mhz 3g hspa or hspa+. Google it and make sure your market is on the list. If it's not, it will be soon.

Hey guys...
So, the Verizon S4 is the model named SCH-I545 and it comes with a sim slot, right? Besides, it comes Internationally Unlocked, so it can be used on GSM networks around the world, correct?
Just one more question, does it work on the 850MHz Band for 3G?
I'm thinking on buying one also! Thanks!
I brought the vzw s4 back to india.. but its not working with either vodafone or airtel GSM.
After rooting and installing apn manager and titanium pro I was able to get the data working but that too only 3g.
But the voice n sms is still not working.
I too am lookiblng for a solution but didnt find any, inspite of this being a world phone.

Same issue in India
I am having the same issue. The phone picks up only data signal and not voice or SMS. I have a Note2 purchased from Verizon and it works perfect. I have rooted and was able to install an I9505 ROM Wamma Lite. It picked up the gsm signal for a moment and same issue occured. Can aI9505 modem be iinstalled using Odin which will make the gsm modem primary and CDMA secondary and allow gsm use for voice and SMS. Please help.

Yes, it will work on 850
Straight from Sammy.
"Frequencies and Data Type:
LTE: Bands 4/13
CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev.A: 800/1900MHz
HSPA+/UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz"
I am using my i545 in both CDMA and GSM networks. Didn't try HDSPA, but EVDO Rev.A and even Rev.B, and GSM with EDGE - working properly without problems. Switching between networks - is in the Settings. My phone is connected to two different operators at the same time - to CDMA and GSM.

I have a Verizon SG4 with AT&T SIM working, voice and data. Data is only H+.

What are you asking? T-Mobile primary network is EDGE, then HSPA, then LTE. If you want to use only HSPA, you can go to settings>mobile networks>network mode. WCDMA only

Sorry, I'm coming from ATT where we had to do weird things to unlock HSPA. My issue is I'm on EDGE more than anything and things don't even load on EDGE. I remember being stuck on E sometimes on ATT, but unlocking HSPA fixed that.

There's no unlocking that Ive ever heard of. It sounds like you just get poor reception. Probably an area that doesn't get 4g or Lte. Check Tmobile coverage map.
Sent from my SM-G900T using xda app-developers app
Yeah, my guess is coverage too. Do go in and check that option that they listed above for your network type. In your situation I would try setting it to WCDMA Only - this will FORCE it to connect to 4G (HSPA+) and if you have no signal for 4g you will have 0 bars so it is a good test to see how that signal is in your area aside from the network map.
You will only be able to use T-Mobile HSPA+ if you are using a T-Mobile branded S5. The AT&T S5 does not support the 1700 AWS band from T-Mobile so you will not be able to get it and will only have access to 2G/3G/4G and LTE (no 4G+)

T-Mobile rural coverage is quite poor in most areas, however they've committed to modernizing their rural areas now that they've got the major centers but it might take a year or better to get it all done. Is it possible to put a Verizon s4 on sprint?

I just upgraded to the droid turbo and my gf is on sprint. I wanted to give her my phone, but I wasn't sure if it was possible. I was thinking I could just SIM unlock the phone and then get a micro SIM card from Sprint and simply activate it in a sprint store. Is this possible or not?

Yes. Sprint uses LTE, Verizon phones are SIM (GSM) unlocked, but are CDMA locked to Verizon. Even if CDMA was unlocked, it doesn't support the correct CDMA bands. And no. There is no way to hack it in.
If you can get your hands on a Sprint SIM and put it in the VZW S4 and you used NVRAM edits (extremely complicated) to enable the correct LTE bands, it would only get 4G LTE service, not 3G or Voice or SMS service.
