[Q] ODIN 3.07 can't flash in CWM Recovery Mode in Samsung Galaxy Neo GT-S5310 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm following step by step process to root my gt-s5310 using ODIN 3.07. Started from download mode and connect to the PC is no problem at all. ODIN finished with the GREEN PASS. When I tried to open recovery mode, only android recovery mode is open(but malfunctioning, going no where when I press the home button) that recovery mode also don't has "install zip from sd card" option.
My android version is 4.1.2 . Baseband version S5310DXAME2. Kernel version 3.0.15-1521875 [email protected]#1
Please help me to solve the issue. Attached is the recovery mode picture

After the successful flash of the CWM file in Odin, do you let it auto reboot? Many Samsung phones have a built in script that checks to see if the recovery partition has been modified and then reapplies the factory recovery file back to it. Try this: Have the phone in hand with fingers on button combo for recovery (most Samsung phones with physical home buttons are typically Home + Volume Up along with Power, but you won't need to do the ) and when it reboots, hit the combo for recovery and it should boot to CWM, then you'll be able to do a nandroid backup and install the stuff you want. If you want to keep the stock rom and CWM recovery, you'll have to get root access and remove the script.

[Q] Cannot get past 'SetupConnection..' in Odin

Have been trying to install I9100XXLSJ in rooted SGSII that had I9100ZSKG2 in it. I did a data/factory reset. The phone goes into Android recovery mode <3e> which I understand is a problem. Using SuperOneClick I confirm the phone is rooted and cable is working. So I attempt to get CWM working again by reinstalling. Using either Oden 1.85 or 4.43 I follow the instructions. It appears as though Odin cannot see the phone and gets stuck at <ID:0/010>SetupConnection..
Also I had seen some instructions to get ROM Manager via the Playstore, etc. However I then also discover I have lost any sort of input device, and there is no Swype listed in the apps either, even under disabled apps. So I cannot enter anything when I reboot into the phone either.
So after 2 days and dozens of pages I'm looking for any suggestions.
Ist of all do not use rom manager unless the rom specifically requests it as sgs2 does not like it.
using odin flash siyah kernal 4.1.5 which will root your phone and install cwm. use this http://www.gokhanmoral.com/public/files/siyahkernel/v4/Siyah-s2-v4.1.5.tar
then using the cable and root directory of your computer which should see the phone drives as usb removeable drive copy the rom zip fileadded link on your sdcard.
then using volume up + home key + power boot into cwm recovery mode.
use install zip, install from sdcard, navigate to where the zip file is, click on it say yes.
let it install, then cleck go back, reboot system now and your done and the rom should be properly installed.

THanks for that. I tried to do that. I get the message "E:Unable to open /sdcard/selfu (no such file or directory). Again, the problem appears to be that the phone goes into system recovery 3e and not CWM when I press volume up + home key + power

i9100g bootloop and no home button

Hello,
I am an owner on a i9100g on cyanogenmod 10.1 stable...
The Home button suddently stopped working. I tried to flash a stock rom and I got a successful flash, but a bootloop at restart.
My issues are:
I cannot go in Recovery mode since Home button doesn't work
I can flash using odin using a usb jig to put it in download mode
So... What do you propose to do?
Thanks in advance!

I would like to know if it is an hw related issue or it is related to cyanogenmod.

If I select reboot to recovery mode the phone restart several times and finally boots successfully

2) Is it possible to flash a newer version of Cyanogenmod via odin?

Hello,
I have the same issue, I was in CM 10.1.1 stable and home button not working.
Then, I tried to flash a stock ROM via Odin, and now my phone is stuck in a bootloop...
I tried to flash different ROMS (always stock from sammobile.com) but every time the result is the same: bootloop.
The problem is that as my home button is not working, I cannot go into recovery mode to do a factory reset or flash a custom ROM, neither in download mode (I use a home made JIG for this).
I have also tried to flash the correct OMAP pit file, hoping for it to do a full wipe, but did not work either, my phone is still in a boot loop.
My last hope would be to do a OMAP flash as described here: link
But I am not sure it will fix the problem and this solution is quite risky...
Does anyone have another idea / suggestion ?
Also, I am not confident in changing my home button as it is necessary to remove the LCD first...
@GamingDj: I did not found any i9100g compatible DorimanX kernel, only i9100...
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers
Help
Any help on this issue please ?
My phone is still dead
Fixed it !
I found a way to make it work, and I think it can be useful to some other people.
Here is what I did:
Remove the battery and insert it back in
Insert a USG jig to enter Download mode
Flash a stock ROM from sammobile.com using ODIN, Auto-reboot should be UNCHECKED
Phone will stay in Download mode after the flash is complete. This way the phone will NOT install the package yet
Remove the battery and insert it back in
Plug the JIG to enter Download mode again
Flash the right version of CWM kernel
Reboot the phone
What it did is that the phone tried to install the stock ROM, and ran CWM kernel (instead of the stock one).
The phone boot in Recovery mode with a little instruction at the bottom "Invalid args"
My guess is that CWM does not have the same API and failed to execute the commands.
But... Who cares ? I was in Recovery mode
I was able to Wipe data/Factory reset and wipe cache. Phone is back to life (Home button still broken though...).
Hope this tread can help others in the same position...
Cheers !
Can u use adb?
then, you can enter the recovery mode by using adb reboot recovery

If you have root, download an app called flashify from the play store, and use it to flash this file,
https://www.dropbox.com/s/foh6ps3tt1wb7ga/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-hltespr-4.4.img
You must be on TouchWiz KitKat for this to work.
What you're experiencing is most likely recovery loops. It occurs when going into recovery when mashing all 3 buttons for too long (home + volume up + power).
If flashing from Odin, let go of the power key as soon as it begins to go into recovery. Otherwise it'll keep forcing into a strange horizontal screen line, continuously, or go into system.
Good luck!

Ok so I got flashify and found the flash twrp option and I did it my phone went into bootloops I dont know why but to fix it I just odin flashed cf-auto-root and that got me out of the loop. I also dowmloaded the file from where you said but it comes out as a disk to burn and is not read by odin. hope you understand! Still need some help!!!! Please.
Here is another way to try, first what version of Odin are you using? I use version 1.85 her is the link http://www.downloadodin.info/download-odin-1-85 instead of twrp I use Philz CWM recovery version 6.12.9 the latest for Sprint, here is the link https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/hltespr/ download the .tar file to the desktop of your PC. Do you have Samsung drivers installed on you PC? Here is the link http://androidxda.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers download and install on PC.
Now lets get started, first pull the battery on the phone, reinstall, reboot device in download mode ( press and hold volume down, power button, and home button at the same time till mode starts, then press volume up to continue ) now start Odin on desktop, then click on PDA a box will come up click on desktop, then click on the .tar file, it should come up in the box next to PDA. Now connect the phone to your PC via a USB cable. A box in the upper left hand corner of Odin will light up COM: doesn't matter what color or number just shows a connection is made. Now click start, and wait till its done it will say pass. If the device doesn't reboot, unplug and reboot device. Now power off and boot into your new recovery. ( Press volume up, power button, and home button at the same time till you see some text on the top of the device then let go )

There is no reason to use the auto root package.
Just flash the NC5 tar, then Odin TWRP.
Follow the instructions on my NC5 tar thread.
Latest TWRP tar is here...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/x4mqer180pt4yxt/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-hltespr-4.4.img.tar
After flashing the above, dive straight into recovery using your phone's hardware buttons (volume up + home + power, then let go of only the power button after you start to reboot).
From there, flash one of the pre-rooted roms on the dev forum, or just the latest root zip, here,
https://www.dropbox.com/s/vgqvxsn7qal5q6c/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip
Good luck!

Complicated issue with recovery mode

I flashed NightmareROM. I found myself do not like it. I decided to flash ArchiDroid (AOSP ROM). I found it required Philz recovery. I flashed it through recovery (CWM). I rebooted to make sure everything is OK. After making Nandroid backup, found myself cannot boot into recovery and cannot boot into download mode after factory reset., but I can boot to system normally. I installed CM installer. It detected my phone, and I was able to boot into download and recovery mode. I can boot into download mode normally. I flashed the latest version of Philz Touch Recovery through Odin. When I want to boot into recovery mode, by pressing the combination, I find myself rebooting normally. When I press the combination, then pressing home + up only after the first reboot, I can boot into recovery. Is there any problem? I did not try to flash something
Change to stock cwm or twrp and test. I'm guessing a recovery problem as I've had this in the past with philz.

Someone flashed it, and he said there is no problem. Could be there is a problem with bootloader?
Bootloader won't be the problem. I use cwm6.0.4.4 and flash any ROM any firmware without issue. Philz is only a recommendations not a must In any ROM/firmware

Use one of the many apps on Playstore to boot into recovery or use adb. I know PhilZ sometimes can be a bit awkward to get into recovery but the others should be fine.Have you also tried going back to stock and starting again this may solve your problem.
Download and flash cwm 6.0.4.4

Question.. Can you boot into recovery or download mode? If not mobile Odin.
And..what ROM are you running now? Are you rooted?

That's normal to hold the three button combo or it WONT enter recovery or download mode. Holding the power button alone will just reboot the device as you can see.

Galaxy S3 i9300 Unable to enter download mode

Hi Folks
I have an old Galaxy S3 i9300 I'm attempting to resurrect. There's nothing on it (I can't remember what was last done with it or when I last used it). I'm trying to flash a bootloader through ODIN but I can't enter download mode on the phone. It comes up with the warning screen, if I try to press volume up nothing happens. Any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks
Does the volume key work? Try booting to recovery to test.
Download mode is an entirely separate and secure partition, if that is corrupt then you are unlikely to resurrect the phone.

It seems the volume up key is broken. I'll figure out a workaround - perhaps touch recovery, if I can figure out a way to get into recovery

Well I've been able to flash recovery using ODIN, but I can't get into recovery to load the ROM without the volume up key.. Any ideas?
I was hoping to be able to flash CM11 using ODIN, if that's possible. It doesn't like .zip files. Is there a download source for .tar.md5 versions that can be loaded through ODIN?
Thanks again
Fix the button, adb command to reboot to recovery might work in download mode but you'll have to research.
You can't flash custom rom via Odin.

Or use CM installer to install CM.
