HTC software updates - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Did anyone go to HTC.com where HTC software updates page is.. the HTC Evo 4g Lte is no longer on that page.. at least before it was under "integration" now we will not know if they finished it..

I just visited the page and noticed that. Shame....we will be left with "unofficial" Sense 5 release. Granted, everything is pretty solid, but I still have a few gripes.

Unfortunate, though I do wonder how many of these phones are even still out in the wild. I actually just bought mine since it was $94 on Craigslist and still beats the pants off my iPhone, lol.
What about the Sense 5.5 build posted by chubbzlou? Thinking of trying that soon.

That's a good ROM to try out. Very stable. I ran it for awhile until Viper 4.0 was released. You can't go wrong with it. Make sure you visit my Q&A thread for their ROM.

How is Viper 4.0 working for you?
I have been wating around for an "official" Sense 5 ROM from HTC, but chubbzlou and Viper ROMs were two I was thinking about trying in the case that nothing more comes from HTC.

It's been pretty good. Lots of customization. Battery life has been excellent. I had an issue a few days ago with Sense reloads when leaving an app, but some changes to the memory management and a reboot and the issue hasn't been back since. Viper uses Chubbz Sense 5.5 ROM as a base, also.

Searching for a ROM as close to DasBAMF 3.0 as possible for Incredible 2?

I just picked up a Droid Incredible 2 for the gf and I would like to root it and load a custom ROM. I currently run DasBAMF 3.0 on my Thunderbolt and love the Sense 3.0 stuff on it. I'm hoping to find a ROM as close to that as possible for the Incredible 2. Any ideas or suggestions?

I did actually post this question there but doesn't seem like many there have even heard of DasBAMF so I figured why not post in both in the hopes someone from here might have come across a good option for me over there.
well, I had an Inc 2 for awhile and rooted it as soon as it became available early this month. I've tried out all the ROMs and there was one called Kingdom Rewind 3D that was promising but had some bugs(not sure if they got fixed yet or not). there was also a sense 3.0 that was made by some guy in China(forget the name) that was also decent. The title mentioned it was based off of a Incredible S ROM. Lastly, there was a pretty solid ROM by RMK that was not sense 3.0 but there was a thread explaining how to modify the ROM for sense 3.0 elements.
thats it. I dont think there are any others.
It's gonna be a while before there's a good number of solid ROMs for that thing. They only got it rooted a month or 2 ago.

yeah i kept checking back like a freak to see if it was rooted yet and they finally released it just after the 4th of july weekend. oddly though, they already had 2-3 roms available before the root was released.

ICS with Sense. Expectations

What does everyone expect to see that is new in sense when the ics ota releases? After seeing the sensation leak do you all think sense will get much of a Makeover?

I've heard we'll be getting Sense 4.0 with the official ICS OTA. I would assume they'll incorporate some stuff to make it more ice cream sandwichy
I am hoping that. After seeing the sensation leak it made me worry a bit. I kind of like big Makeovers.

Yeah, the Sensation leak was, well, kind of ugly. I think Sense looks better than AOSP. I just like the way that AOSP functions in general. It would be nice if we could get the ICS functionality with the look of Sense, plus some more little goodies.

I just read somewhere else that it appears they're working on ICS for 3.5. That would be horribly disappointing. New devices they've announced (the quad core ones, for example) seem to be the ones that will be getting Sense 4.0 with ICS. I just hope they realize we want 4.0, as well and give it to us on the OTA.
This link was where I read it. Seems fairly up-to-date.

Hence the fragmentation of Sense... I guarantee we'll be getting a 3.5 version of ICS. They did the same thing with the EVO which never got out of Sense 1.0. That's why we root right?? I'm still stock but I'll pop her cherry when the right rom comes.

Agreed. I'm not terribly worried since I'll get a new phone before the OTA comes (if the HTC quad-core phones are out), or we'll already have some ICS with a rom. You should check out Chingy and Newt's rom, btw. This thing is awesome
I'm back to the Rez from the Nex. Soo glad! I hope to see the app grouping which from the leak appears to be there.
Also the voice to text and auto correction from ICS ****ing rules! I love the stock Sense keyboard. The ICS Android keyboard and I have spacebar issues!

Seeing as it's the first build, there are some minor issues and things that just won't work yet. That being said, I've never seen a more polished and sexy rom in a first build ever. I've seen some v4+ that aren't as nice as this thing is. If you get flash happy, give it a go since you won't be disappointed. If you can wait a little bit, let them get the bugs out. Something beyond amazing would have to pull me away from this rom.

Shouldn't we do something about not getting sense 4

Just my opinion so don't burn me for it but I don't think we should just be okay with getting ripped and only getting sense 3.6 and them releasing sense 4 just a few months after our phone even though ics was already out when our phones were released and sense 4 in the works and I'm pretty sure if we were to all put our thoughts about it on the HTC facebook page we might be able to stirr this up and maybe actually get somewhere. Who's with me?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Who knows if it'd work but doesn't hurt to try.
Couldn't hurt to try that's for sure. But I'm pretty sure we'll still be seeing 3.6 for the upcoming OTA. I also wonder if they have future plans to officially update the Rezound to 4.0.
hey don't assault their facebook...

(rezound)
I agree it wouldn't hurt to try but if VZW/HTC really hold their promise of providing Rezound users with ICS, there is nothing we should have an issue with. I am happy we're getting ICS period to be honest.
Stock ICS over Sense 4.0 would be really nice but since it likely won't happen I'll keep supporting our Devs to bring us the latest and greatest.
Us not getting Sense 4 officially is just one reason why to be thankful for devs.
What does sense 4 have that 3.6 doesn't that we can take advantage of? We don't have the new camera with image sense and beats integration apparently is more than a software setting. We have the customizable dock so what else is there?
Sent from my Rezound using Tapatalk
The reason the Rezound won't get Sense 4.0 is that there are features in 4.0 that are specific to the hardware in the HTC One Series devices. Because of the differences between those devices and all other handsets preceding them a redesign of Sense was necessary. HTC isn't trying to screw anyone here and VZW had no decision in this matter. A petition won't do any good. We haven't even seen a changelog for Sense 3.6 yet or a side by side comparison of 4.0 so it's a bit premature to be upset that the Rezound won't get 4.0.
I don't care whether we get it or not but apparently a lot of others do.
I really don't care if we get it or not because our devs will eventually prefect it anyways.

the reason people want sense 4 is because apparnelty HTC streamlined sense and got rid of a lot of the bloat that made the phones bogged down because of the UI.

That is a pretty good reason if you ask me. Probably would really help out the battery life too. I've easily doubled my battery life since tossing most of Sense 3.5 out.
Anyways, to answer the OP's question: YES. If you want Sense 4.0 officially because you're not willing to root and flash a ROM, then of course you should try to do something about it. The ONLY reason we arent getting Sense 4 is because they are leaving it exclusive to their upcoming devices, so they can use it as a selling point. If you don't think thats fair, you SHOULD say something. Don't expect anybody to listen... but you never know.
Was it just coincidence that HTC silently allowed Rezound on HTC Dev Unlock just a week or so after the petition was started? Maybe, but it could just as easily have been BECAUSE of the petition. I say there is no reason not to give it a shot.

it's not because of hardware. The rezound is capable of running sense 4. The one V will be running sense 4 and has significantly lower specs than the rezound.

As someone said already, it's just being used as a selling point for the One series.
The Rezound has already been shunned by Verizon and probably HTC after the ICS update.
I'm fairly confident we'll never see Sense 4 officially.

I think there is some different hardware in those phones for the camera options they put in it. But they could definitely make a variation of sense 4 for us but they probably won't.

Sense 3.6 v. 4.0

I'm using the leaked ICS rom with Sense 3.6. It's great. And I just read an article comparing Sense 3.6 and 4.0. Am I missing something? Other than a few changes, is there really a reason for everyone to be so upset that we (probably) aren't 4.0? Or is it just the principle of the matter? Either way, I am completely happy with 3.6 and the improvements brought by ICS alone.
I'm sorry to say there's no "probably" involved here. The Rezound will not get Sense 4.0 in any official manner because Sense 4.0 "is built to take advantage of the hardware in the One Series handsets and beyond".
I'm a card-carrying Sense hater, but I'm pretty impressed by 4.0. It's been redesigned, and even Newt's beta ROM runs better than 3.6. If this is the future of Sense, then I'll take back what I've said about Sense in the past.
Yea I haven't tried Newt's rom yet bc I just got my Rezound yesterday and am content with the ICS leak until exams are over. FYI, Newt released RC1 today for that rom. The leak is performing pretty well tho, for me at least.
sense 4 will be great once our devs have 100% ironed out all of the bugs..but until then, it's kinda buggy and worse off than 3.6. but i'm pumped for when they're able to fully develop it
I think one of hte biggest advantage with the 4 is its light weight and better integration with ICS. 3.6 seems to still retain some looks and feel of the current version of sense so it still weighed down a little bit in terms of performnace. 4 seems to help with the performance better as there's less overhead needed.

I too run Sense 4 and obviously it has a few issues but so did Sense 3.6 when I first had it installed on the Rezound. I remember on my Thunderbolt running Sense 3.5 Based Roms and they had issues but the awesome developers here always seem to iron out the wrinkles. Honestly the only real issue currently is the Bluetooth only connecting to media. I'm on RezRom S4 1.0.1 right now and it has been the smoothest running of the Sense 4 Roms for me to date!

This Sense 4.0 on ICS made me fall back in love with my EVO!

Just wanted to tell those who may be reluctant to try a different rom, its worth the work.

I was running it today and it was pretty good, I'm looking forward to warm four dot zero. 3.6 has amazing battery life and sense 4 has fluidity and a new taste. I'm not a fan of 3.0 with ics, but that battery life is amazing. I got about 10 hours before I got to 10% and I'm a pretty heavy user (a lot of Facebook and Voxer over 3g). Usually my phone would last 8 or 7 hours before it died.

The Nexus is ok at best, I've tried it and can honestly say that the SII, 3D, and even Note feel more comfortable for usability. Sure, the stock ICS is fluid and is designed around the capabilities of the Nexus, but in the end, you're still playing with a black banana phone with a goofy curved screen.
Sense 4.0 is a huge change over 3.6. If you haven't tried newts Rom do it. 3d and 4g aren't working but you really won't miss them. Although I am surprised that no one has ported the EVO 4g LTE Rom to our device yet. It would be nice to have a full cmda sense 4.0 Rom.
