Car Dock - Xperia Z2 Accessories

Can anyone recommend a good dock for the car. I have had a few cheap ones from eBay and they have not been very good. They either drop the phone or the suction cup doesn't hold on to the windscreen. I have been looking at this one: DX GripGo
Can anyone advise if this is any good or suggest another one.

The idea of such a dock is really good. I own a similar one.
But forget GripGo. Customer reviews on Amazon tell you why.
Try to get one from Clingo if it is available in your country.

Thanks for the info. My only concern is I have a screen protector on the back of my phone. I am not sure if when I pull it off it will pull the screen protector off as well?

Unfortunately I cannot tell whether this happens or not since I have only a bumper around my Z2.

I have a car dock the same as yours. But it works well with a back screen protector .
You can a universal clip car holder.

I had a good luck about and Arkon car docks appear to get good reviews so bought this one: Arkon Z2 Car Dock
So far no problems at all and it holds the phone very well.

I have the arkon with nfc dock. Works pretty well and have it configured to enable bluetooth automatically when docked too.

MiniSuit Leather Keyboard Portfolio Stand Case Cover

Hey guys, thinking of pre-ordering this, what do you all think? I've been interested in a case that covers both my Prime and my soon to have docking station. From what I see, I think it fits my needs. Feel free to share your thoughts.

Quality is great, fits perfectly on my TF201... No complaints. I'm sure this case will work out great for you too.

The one I posted the link to that I purchased does have the holes where the Prime would connect to the dock.

Yes it does have holes for the dock. No removal of the entire cover needed. The mini-suit is the perfect fit that also support the dock IMO.

Thanks! Its alot cheaper so I'll give a shot! I just want a case that protects both the tablet and the keyboard dock.
what about the position of the tablet when in "writing mode"?
The image shows a very steep angle between the keyboard and the screen when using the keyboard.
Will the hinge between dock and tablet hold the screen and the angle you desire?
What if the keyboard is not used the angle cannot be fixed as it is with some other cases. (though they do not have the option for the keyboard)
Not sure if the Poetic case is a rip off of this one or the other way around but I got the Poetic case that looks eaxctly like this one and I love it. I actually dropped my Prime this morning running to the buss stop and was worried to open the case to witness the scratches and/or damage and the case did an excellent job! No damage! I'd highly recommend although I advise against dropping!
I have the MiniSuit case. When it first arrived I was a bit disappointed.
One of the let downs was the fact that the case around the tablet did not have any magnets so the fold kinda flapped around and did not stay shut if the tablet was undocked.
I solved that by putting a couple of adhesive Velcro strips on the top and bottom.
After that!.... It never leaves this case.

I have it. I would have like it if the tablet portion of the case would work as a stand when detached from the base. Even with that being said it is a nice case for the money.

Hi, have any of you actually used this case with the dock attached? I have this case and whilst is does have holes where the dock connector would go, I can't connect the dock at all - there is just too much leather around the holes/case etc.
(It's a great case for the tablet alone, I just can't make it work with the dock)
I'm looking for a slim case that works both with and without the dock attached. Perhaps the best solution is the other Mini Suit "Rotating" case mentioned in the first post?
Any experience / views would be welcome.

Brilliant idea! I was about to buy that same case, then i wondered will there be anything to hold the front case.
Btw, did the case smells? I mean, that strong leather smell?
I bought this case but it smells even after a month. I did everything, even wrap in newspapers and placed under the sun.

Moko Portfolio Case

Hey guys,
If anybody is looking for cases, I'm using this one.
http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Folding-...1SCQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1337432342&sr=8-2
I like it a lot. It's very sturdy, strong build and the price is not bad at all. i would recommend it. Reviews are pretty good on it as well.. I'm not a big fan of folding cases but this one changed my mind. It's not those flimsy cheap ones they sell on ebay for $5. I had one of those for my tab 7.0 plus and it was garbage.
Ordered this same case over the weekend and am awaiting delivery. I do have the keyboard dock but see this as an excellent alternative for some situations. It's called a Transformer for a reason after all.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I concur, its a good case and since I couldn't find it in the Netherlands, I also ordered it through Amazon.
+ Very affordable
+ Sturdy
+ Proper screen protection
+ Fast delivery
+ Simple, yet stylish finish (leather-look, black)
But....
- I had to "adjust" the hole for the headphone. Originally it was placed 7 mm too low (when holding the tablet upright). But with a sharp knife, that is easily done.
- The cover is (when folded) hold in place by a small flap. I find that the friction is too low to properly keep the cover in place. So I improved it with some velcro. Now the cover stays were it is no matter how mucht I move the case around. Just make sure you place the soft side of the velcro on the cover (doesn't scratch the screen)
- It adds about half of the tablet in weight, which is no problem when its standing/laying on a surface of course. But just to let you know
-The 40 pin connector is at all times unprotected
- I am also thinkin of clearing some of the material around the on/off switch. I find it a bit too hard to reach (I am a lazy SoB, mind you )
- I will add a small loop for a stylus (not present)
I admit I am still waiting for the smart cover version like the one for the TF201. But until that moment, this one is it.
Cheers
I purchased this case and received it today. I really like it and it was a great deal. It's probably tthe best one for the money right now. Very well-made and fits perfectly. I especially like now the screen cover adjusts depending on the way you want to use the wedge stand and the magnets in said cover to keep it closed.
All-in-all, I highly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a case and is not going to be using the keyboard dock.

I went ahead and purchased it anyway! Will be here on Monday!
I think it's great !!
i have it sitting on my desk at home, now i'm just waiting on the TF300 couple of questions:
1. assume the case closed leaves the inside of the case touching the screen. any damage possible here? it looks like pretty soft suede or microfiber, but still wondering.
2. what's the deal with carving out the headphone jack? has anyone else had to do this?
3. do you have pictures of the velcro thing? anyone else had problems closing it?

If you are talking about the Moko one?
1. No, No damage possible. I had it for a month or so and havent seen damage on screen. I wonder this to, but it doesnt touch the screen. Atleat for me it doesn't.
2. I didn't have to. I used the headphones with no problem. No carving..
3. I can send a picture of the velcro but it's pretty strong. The tablet doesn't move down or tries to walk away from the case.
Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow (Friday). Can't believe the overwhelming positive feedback from so many other users who have this case.

I have the moko case for the tablet and its great. The reason the screen doesn't get scratched is because of 2 magnets that are sitting on each corner on the far end of the case and when the case is closed there is still about a centimeter or 2 of clearance. Great case imo

Hi,
is it easy to take out? I use the dock very often and I'm just looking for a case for surfing the internet or watching films, so I don't have to hold the tablet all the time. But cases like the slim one make it very hard / annoying to take the tablet out.
Does the magnets affect the tablet?
One of the reviews on Amazon for this case said that the magnets have some affect on the GPS. I am generally reluctant to bring electronics close to magnets. Does anyone see any issues with the magnets and GPS?

FOUND A CASE BY SAMSUNG SO YOU DO NOT NEED THE RECEIVER ON THE BACK OF THE BATTERY.
I follow this guy pretty much everywhere. I came across a video he had posted about wireless charging and I have to say its pretty awesome. After some tussling around the only problem I had was getting the position just right. Other than that.... it works GREAT! If you don't mind the mini bulge you only notice because you put it on yourself BUT i think they make special cases if you do not like it.
I don't mind it, I like to think it holds it in place. I do recomend the QI wireless charger (KoolPad). People have had reports of heating up but I have not an issue with it since I have bought it. I bought 2, one for work and one for home!
I also like it because it prevents the wear and tear of opening and closing of the bottom tab.
thanks Max !

I haven't used the charging back case yet. I hear it is slightly bigger than the stock case. I ordered the QI pwd card and fits fine with the stock case. A little bit of a bulge hardly noticeable only to the person who owns the phone because you can feel it. it doesn't bother me because i like to think it keeps it in place and to be honest, i haven't had any issues. I will buy the case soon. maybe once the pad wears out

QI case without s-view

Hi guys.
I currently have a case from mobile fun that has s-view and qi charging. it is good but the screen is scratched and has seemingly made scuff marks on the phone screen also. at least i have a screen protector on.
i dont really utilise the benefits of the s view like music from the home screen etc and as soon as it moves slighlty off centre the full screen shows below so i lose the s view screen.
so, i want a case, not just a replacement back that has qi charging but not a flip cover/s view.
do they do them and are there any recommenations?

This thread has a lot of info... a lot.
I never tried that case, I use an insert with the Spigen Neo hybrid... works well... The insert is ineffective 5mm away from the charge pad. 1mm is taken from the insert and the backcover of the pphone... that leaves you with 4mm. Your case needs to be less than 4mm thick. I think the slim armour meets this.
Happy hunting.

I have the Case-Mate Barely There and I can confirm that IT DOES NOT fit with the official Sony magnetic dock using either 45A or 45B inserts. I haven't found a single case that does fit as yet... and charging without using an insert isn't ideal as the slightly knock causes the connection to be lost....

although, just to argue with myself, I've contacted Case-mate and they state that it should fit the magnetic dock. So either I'm being really thick, or my inserts for the DK48 aren't correct, or both......I'm going to recheck tonight!

The DK36 works with the Case Mate Barely there and the wider of the two inserts included in the packaging. It was about $20 on Amazon. It charges pretty quickly as well.

It will fit with 45B insert, unless you have glass screen protector on. The glass will cause 45B to be not fit.

This definitely isn't the case for mine - doesn't fit and I don't have a glass screen protector. However, I've found that it does fit with one of the inserts for the Z3 Compact - 35B, I think it's called - I'd always assumed this insert would be smaller so stupidly hadn't tried it, but perhaps the Z3 Compact is slightly fatter.
I'm not sure whether my case, or the dock is at fault here....
cheers

I went and looked at the dimensions of the Z3/Z2 and their respective docks and the extra thickness of the Z2 means its dock is just a tiny bit deeper... so I bought one and it accommodates a Z3 with a snap-on shell case *so* much better than the Z3 dock, even with the adapter. The TPU cases still don't fit without struggling to get it in and out though. The Z2 dock is also around half the price (or less).
