Copy / paste - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having trouble with copy and paste. When I'm writing text I do the usual long press to select but instead of copy it shows the magnifying glass. Never had this trouble on any other android device. Am I doing something wrong, is there another way to copy text?

Double tap the word you wanna copy, then it will mark the word and you can extend the selection to whatever you need.

Can't put a file on desktop

I know that i am probally missing something simple but -
On a S3 how do i put a Excel file on a screen?
It won't let you right click and copy and paste. However, if you select the file and hot control+c the go to desktop and hit control+v it should work

I think he's referring to putting it on the home screen of his GS3....correct?
Yeah
this may or may not work. Also there may be an easier way. I downloaded Astro file manager from Google Store (free app)
Went to home screen, long press and select Short Cuts (I use Nova launcher)
Then selected Astro from the menu
Astro should open and you should be able to browse to the file you want. I didnt have an excel or document to use. I just tested it with a ringtone and it added the ringtone to home screen

On screen Nav buttons

Now that we have root, does anyone know how to install the MOD we had for the SG3 where it would add on screen soft keys and make the home button ONLY wake up the phone. It would also disable the capacitive buttons....I miss this so much...absolutely hate the Samsung home button.
Thanks ahead of time!!
On-screen nav is literally one or two line changes. There's guides all over this site. Why dont you search and maybe figure it out yourself.

I don't see the toughness** you're referring to. Simply encouraging you to give something a try instead of waiting with an open mouth for the spoon to feed you.

I would be afraid to follow a guide that wasn't listed specifically for this phone. Your response is kind of uncalled for.
Edit: This works.. I just did it. It is from the Sprint Note 2 forum... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34247225&postcount=14

There's absolutely no reason that a guide would have to be specifically for this phone. Please do some reading.

seriously. please do us all a favor and get a different phone so we don't have to deal with you.
anyway. i wasn't really happy with the way this looked or worked so I went back. But if tweaked it could look / function better. It changed it so that if you hold the home button on screen and physical you get S-Voice. The on screen nav was really big also and the page indicators were covered by icons. It just looked and felt sloppy and there was no way to customize anything obviously.

I was going to say something but it's not even worth our time guys... Keep asking questions and don't let people like this guy ruin your experience here!
I tried to use the file from the sg3 with no luck... Anyone have any ideas?

Phone's a keeper. I'm not a fan of people just asking for things without trying it on thier own first. Especially with a new device with little development thus far.
Carry on.

The touchwiz on-screen nav buttons are ugly... reverting back. Wonder if there's an easy way to get them themed to vanilla.

Only thing I don't like is this kind of messes with the dialer DPI, and now the top of recent calls and favorites is being cut off by a big block of blue.
Edit: On Bean's new ROM, the top names are still covered, but the "blue" block is now transparent stuff just a blue border, so the names are now visible, but you can only touch the part of the name that sticks out from the bottom of the block. This is definitely more manageable though.

[Q] Xperia P Cannot Copy and Paste 6.1.1.B.1.54

In the latest version (6.1.1.B.1.54) I am having trouble copying the URL in Chrome. It was working a few weeks ago before updating Chrome and the ROM. I thought it might be the Chrome update, but other people are saying that it is likely to be the ROM (http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/34842/how-to-copy-the-current-url-in-chrome).
Is anyone else having this problem?
Actually it's chrome update. Just double tap your url and clic thé copy picture. Then press and hold whenever you want to paste it

Thanks. You kind of have to double tap it twice. The first double tap selects all of the URL and then deselect it, the second double tap brings up the copy menu.
Yea it's weird bc you have to double tap when you see the cursor

[Q] how can I paste something I copied with the s pen into Gmail?

I want to be able to copy something on my screen using the S Penn, you know like when you draw a circle around something and it copies to your clipboard. And then I want to paste it into my message my gmail app . This possible? Sorry for the poor grammar the voice to text is not working too well right now.

Just add an attachment to your email it should be saved under your screenshots

Haven't really tried it much yet but I press the s-pen button and hold it, circle the object and it copy's to clipboard in gallery under screenshots. I can find it in the gallery and when long pressing the image I can choose the messaging, gmail etc. icon and send it in text, or while in text I can tap the paperclip and find it in gallery.
Hope that makes sense and I didn't read your question wrong.
Happy Holidays
That helps, thanks for that. In gmail on the PC you can just do ctrl v while you are typing your message and it will show the image in the message Instead of down below as an attachment. Any way to do that? If not, no big deal.

cool!
Haven't had mine hooked up yet to the PC since mine is a dinosaur (PC that is!)
I doubt the N2 will allow you to do the same as on your PC, but if it can I'm sure someone will chime in. Still should show though as the actual pic instead of an attachment that you have to open on the N2
Peace!!

Cannot copy text

When I long press text it only brings up the magnifying glass but no action bar for options such as cut paste, etc
I'm fairly sure I used to be able to do it?
Anyone know how to fix this?

Same problem i had when I first got the phone then accidentally after double tapping on the word the copy option came up. So if you need to do other operations best way is to double tap. Long hold results in magnification.
