Question about Hotspot - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I have a question about the HotSpot mods for Sprint devices that I am hoping someone can answer. Since there is not much development for the Galaxy Mega I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. To my knowledge there is not a HotSpot hack for the Mega. There is also no official KK (Not sure if that matters) Is it at all possible that the Note 3 or S5 Hotspot hack would work on a Galaxy Mega?

If you have custom recovery I would try the hotspot for MJ 4 or either try wifi tether router in the App Store
Since you mention no KitKat make a backup and try things for jelly bean .... Things for kit kat are different

Thanks I'll try the MJ4 one. I like using the Native Hotspot over the WiFi teather apps. Works much better

Yeah they are just a pain in the arse and unreliable at times. I can't find any links to an MJ4 Hotspot mod

Go give Josh some thanks .... you can pretty much find anything you need on his site ....

Screencasting and rooting problem

I got the netgear screencasting gizmo. and it don't work.
I tried a bunch of devices they all connect but then disconnect. I determined its likely that I am rooted (not optional so unrooting is never going to be an option)
I determined this because the only 2 devices that will work (unrooted s3's) are unrooted. every rooted device fails.
this is BS and should be illegal for them to do this. SO how do I get around it?
either software or hardware solution to getting around this immoral and in my opinion illegal restriction.?
is there a device out their without this crippling built into it? maybe hacked firmware for one of them or something?

See link below; I kind of dig that you're frustrated, but there are solutions out there, most of them provided by the very devs that enabled you to root your device in the first place...

I've seen someone use the Netgear Push2Tv with a Nexus 7. Do you know if it would work with CM11?
No solution for note 3 yet
The push2tv is what I have and it works only on unrooted devices. My note 2 3 and rooted s3's all do the same thing. Connect but no mirror then it disconnects

You should be able to use the Xposed patch library file in the link on your S3 ( libwfd_engine.so).
Don't know which file it is for the Note 3.

I have the same problem and have been looking for an answer. I have seen some fixes for the S3 and Note 2 but not the note 3. I have a Tronsmart 1000 and I have been trying to get the mirroring to work. The EZ Cast program works but I need the mirroring to work. If you find any more information please post it here and I will do the same.
Cheers!

The answer for your S3 is just a few posts above you. It's a patched library file using an Xposed module.

Not true. The file to be patched does not exist in our version of the note 3.

I limited my answer from the jump to the Note 3. After reading my comments, I may have been unclear on that metric. However, if you read the posts I've made in this thread, they've all stated overtly that the Xposed app to which I linked will work for the S3, and not for the Note 3.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
this is crap that they do this. what is the logic or reasoning for doing this and why is it legal?
Thank you micmars. I will go back and see if I can figure it out. Your help is appreciated.

I have gone through both threads and I do not see any solutions for the note 3. The patch is for the note 2. I have gone through all of xposed and nothing there either. I give up for now.

Yup. I was specifically saying only that a solution existed for your S3 and perhaps others here whom may have a Note 2.
But...that library file must have its counterpart for our phone under a different name, or that library file resides elsewhere from system, library, as those files are everywhere, not only in system (look at Google Now for the quick search box, for just one example, it has two in /data).

I know with the official Samsung Allshare cast module you have to be on a stock kernel. I would say to try that. I am on Jellybomb 3.2 and screen mirroring works perfectly.

I was wondering that. I know the toggle is there, but I don't use the feature. Perhaps Josh's awesome mash-up could provide the fix.

Rooting is not the problem flashing a custom kernel is. I use showbox.netflix and nba league pass Mobile daily on my rooted note 3 using the all share cast dongle. Hope this helps.

I am NOT running custom kernels only rooted
I can cast such as to Chrome cast fine its screen mirroring I can't though

Wanam Xposed not working?

Hadn't seen a thread on this. Just wondering if anyone with a rooted Sprint Note 3 on 4.4.2 firmware was experiencing this. Stiff that worked on Jellybean hadn't been working on Kit Kat. Specifically, silencing the camera shutter sound and boot sounds. I am rooted, on NABD firmware, with an engineering bootloader, running Josh Beach's Kit Kat Killer version 1.0 test 2. I just mention that for informational purposes, I don't think it's ROM related. Anyone else having this? Or similar difficulties?

Also some roms have a silenced camera setting hidden in their camera settings, I know Sacs rom does.

Custom ROM Question - flash any ROM?

Can any note 3 ROM be flashed on a Sprint note 3? Like if I went to the general, non carrier specific forums and found a ROM there, could I flash it to my Sprint note 3 and it work? I ask because I've seen some ROMs over there that I'd like to try, but I don't want to screw up the phone.

So if I have a modem then I can flash it right after flashing the ROM and I should be ok, at least that's what it sounds like to me. And would that be the fix to not getting data, sms, or mms?

Yes, stock is Odex framework and about half of the system apps.
You need to go to at least the DeOdex stock base to flash that.
Hit the dev forum, I'm sure you'll find something that pleases.

This just uses the regular hot spot setting right? There isn't a stand alone app? It just bypasses us being charged by Sprint for Hotspot?

That's what I gather but haven't fished it yet. I also believe it will only work on a DeOdexed ROM. I plan on flashing the new Vision X ROM that is DeOdexed later tonight then flash this and will report back.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
Maybe you've already done this and figured it out, but I flashed the hotspot mod mentioned above on Vision X. You can activate it in settings or use something like Power Toggles - it does not add a quick settings toggle in the notification panel.

[Q] Note 3 NC5 Wifi Tether?

Does anyone have wifi tether working on their NC5 phone?
I've tried android-wifi-tether but it always opens with errors and then never shows up when searching for it's SSID.
