Another interesting find for the mad catz m.o.j.o - M.O.J.O. Android Development

I found something new for the mad catz m.o.j.o messing around with an app called "hidden menus",it doesn't have a lot on there in terms of tweaks and menus to open per say,but interestingly is an option for lte ram dump on/off and it can be toggled on or off,has anyone got any idea what that is? For this click on testing, then on device information then scroll down to lte ram dum on/off to toggle, there are also battery temp and usage stating 8.0 celcius and up time on AC.Maybe there are other varied options there others can utilize or tinker with if any actualy do what they state they do?
Hopefully ram dump allows the dump of the firmware over adb or something like that, but i think lte is a data connection type or something to that effect?
I am not a developer so i will switch it off for now,but i would like to know any finds in this software can someone take a look please on my behalf provided they understand it,thanks in advance
Just found if you add test menu application and ex dialer app and you open test menu it gives a number to dial that brings up the test section found in hidden menus way quicker i added the address as a email address when asked in first run of test menu after install.

Some dumb questions

Not been an XDA owner long and due to business I havent had much time to look at it. But now I am getting in to it but I still seem to be a little lost here....
When hit the X for closing an application (like explorer) the memory settings in the control panel list the application as still running. Is the correct? Am I not closing the application correctly or is this simply the way it should work...? If so is there a quicker way to close these buggers down instead of going into the control panel?
Next question is to do with the connection while the phone is in the cradle. In the settings it says PC Connection. But if I activate the explorer it jumps onto the GPRS network.
Next question - How can I monitor per month how much bandwidth I have used?
And last question - for the moment - anyone know of a good PDA enabled link site?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
You'll find answers to all of your questions (i think) by searching the forums.
The X-button does not exit a program by default. You need a third party application to make it work that way. There are plenty of those around, a lot of them free of charge. Have a look at www.freewareppc.com and you should find a couple.
You need to change a connection setting so that the XDA knows that the cradle does not only connect to work, but also to the internet. Can't remember exactly what setting, but search the forums or by all means read the fine manual that came with the device.
To monitor the GPRS usage you need a third party application. There might be a free one around somewhere, but otherwise SPB Software GPRS Monitor is a good choice.
www.google.com shows up just nicely on my device, give it a try.
For closing and switching applications, I use PocketNav. It's fantastic, give it a shot. You can find it here: http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff/pocketnav.zip
tnx for posting a copy of the software!
mate,
you can also try another freeware called systeminfo. it's a today plug-in; which shows you 3 types of information; battery charge (with a bar and %), memory use (also with a bar and %) and the running apps. the running apps has 4 small buttons; n, a, c, x. if you have multiple programs running; say word and then the second one is wmp, clicking on "n" will go to the second running program (which will show the running app's name on the small bar). clicking on "a" will open a new window which shows you all the running programs, clicking on "c" will click the present program seen on the indicator bar, clicking on x will close all your apps. btw; if the indicator bar shows that word is running; clicking on that bar will open the window where your word app is running.
here's the cab file...check it out...
cheers mate

[Q] Customizing the drop down bar.

First off, I apologize if this has been covered before in a thread. I spent about a half hour searching for my answer and was not able to either find it or understand which answer I was looking for.
I have in Taiwan a:
S3 GT-I9300
4.1.2
I9300XXELLA
3.0.31-899179
Rooted
No custom rom
(not sure what else you guys need to know)
I was simply curious if someone would point me in the right direction for the following problems. I use reverse tethering quite often with my smart phone as my office does not have WIFI and I enjoy watching sports games on my phone or listening to the radio broadcasts. I have a plan with a 5GB data limit and the video will eat that up pretty fast. So, whenever I use reverse tether, want to check for available wifi, or do any USB/Blue tooth tethering I have to go two or three menues deep into my settings and it's a tad annoying.
Is there a way I can customize the top drop down menu to replace some of the UI icons with ones that I actually want to use such as, "enable usb tether" or "see available wifi signals" or "turn on wifi hotspot?" I could remove Blocking Mode, or AllShare Cast as I never use them.
While I'm able to root phones (easy enough) I'm pretty clueless about custom Roms, how to use them, which ones are good, how to keep my phone protected when using them etc. There is such a huge amount of information about customizing the S3 on these forums, I just didn't know how to wade through it all to get the one customization that I want.
Again, sorry if I couldn't find the threat where this was discussed, and if there is a thread that answers this question well, I would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.
Cheers!
Not 100% sure, but maybe have a look into JKay Delux (you have to find the version for your firmware though). Otherwise another option could be to create a shortcut for your home screen via tasker that brings you directly into that menu.

Click to collapse
Does tasker allow you to create shortcuts for any phone command? If so, that might be what I need.

if I am not wrong, most of them yes. At least it lets you control most of the functions (if you add Secure Settings PlugIn even more.)

Running menu selection from command line

I've been searching for a while now to a solution to my question without any progress...so here goes.
I have an application I use at work for 'paging' but I only receive said pages if I'm 'on duty'. Changing duty status requires an internet connection because that's the way the developers want it... That's fine.. so manipulating the database is out of the question. I can run a macro to do keypresses to change shift status but it's only if I'm not actively using my phone and is sometimes quirky. I want to be able to do that from a command line if possible.. So is this possible? What would I need to execute? I've looked at logs but I'm not an android programmer so I have no clue. I can pin down the log entry that shows me pressing menu selections but I want to do that without any interaction..
so guess what I 'm asking is,
Is this possible?
What do I need to look for?
Thanks, in advance

Cannot enable muiti-user in Andriod Lollipop on Lenovo Yoga 3 8"

The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 does not come with multi-user, so I've been trying to set it up so my family can actually share the tablet without kid-adult conflicts. I'm running Android 5.1.1
As suggested in a number of forums, I've rooted the device and modified build.prop to include:
fw.show_multiuserui=1
fw.max_users=8
The two lines of code are in the build.prop file after rebooting the tablet and "pm get-max-users" in adb shell returns 8, so the two lines of code are in there. However, there is no multi-user icon either next to the settings on the lock screen or the swipe-down menu (next to settings icon, where I hoped it would be). So I cannot add or switch users.
I've tried manually adding users through the adb shell using "pm create-user [username]" with no luck...they may exist in the back-end somewhere, but as a tablet user I can't see them.
I've tried rebooting several times, removed screen lock, and eaten a bunch of chocolate but nothing seems to work.
Any help would be much appreciated!
same issue for S8-50 running 5.0.1. actually the profile section can be found in settings if search for 'profile' . from there the user can also be switched but that's about it - no ability to switch between users in lockscreen
I bought two tab3 10" 16GB for the kids for xmas, and they had a "Users" entry in the settings, but no user avatar in the quick settings.
It seemed pretty good, so I bought another of the 32 GB version for myself and my wife and that has neither. However, I was able to set up user accounts for us by searching for users in the settings menu, so it appears to be there. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow any sane way of switching users, since one has to be logged in as a user to do it... It cannot possibly be considered a good idea to do this, it has to be a bug...
I'd be very interested in a solution to this problem too.
any findings an that so far? How to "search for 'profile'" Am on tab 2 a8-50f, with mentioned changed in build.prop but no options in settings
It is actually as simple as kjekje suggests.
Open the settings tab. Instead of scrolling up and down and looking in every submenu for a "users" section like i did, just click the magnifying glass icon and search for "users". Seems like Lenovo have just hidden it from the menu.
Further broken in 6.0.1
I just upgraded the tablet to 6.0.1 yesterday, as it was pushed by the usual channels. Figured it couldn't make it any worse. It did
Now, if I search for users, I can switch to a restricted user, but I cannot switch back, because there's no option for it when I search for it in restricted mode.
So, I would still be very interested in a better solution to this problem? The only good solution is to be able to switch users when the screen is locked. Anybody found anything by further digging?
I don't know why on earth Lenovo is doing this to us. Perhaps they figure we will buy another tablet if there's no multiuser...? But it surely won't be a Lenovo, they ought to understand that.

Will.i.am iAm+ Puls

Hey, so I posted this in general, but think it may have been the wrong spot.
Anyway, I recently acquired a Will.i.am iAm+ Puls, and want to see if I can load full android on it (it's currently running a forked version of 4.1). It's an awful product, but heck figured it might be fun to try to load full android on it or even android wear and see what I can do. Problem is, it does not look like it has any USB connectivity, so would need some suggestion on how to load it on another way. If anyone knows of any way to that would be great! I'm debating trying to open up the device too (need to get a jewelers screwdriver) and see if there is some form of internal access.
If anyone could provide any guidance that would be great.
For the curious here's some specs (I assume I'd have to make custom build too?):
1.7-inch PMOLED Display
dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
1GB RAM
16GB of storage
GSM 3G
WiFi
Bluetooth 4.0
GPS
pedometer/accelerometer (not actually sure if it has it.. isn't surfaced in UI)
Did you get anywhere with this? I have a Dial+ which I think is quite similar. They seem to have turned off the map service and Aneeda doesn't seem to do much anymore. I was hoping someone knows how to add some functionality back or even add new apps. I've contacted Iam+ support about getting some developer tools but haven't heard anything back yet.
I was able to use adb to get different apps and launchers onto it, but could never get the functionality I wanted. Screen size is too small, I think this would be best if you could get androidwear on it, but I am not sure how.
You're right, Android Wear would be awesome, the Dial+ is 4G and has 32Gb of internal storage.
If anyone is interested, on the Dial+ to get the developer options menu you first have to go to "About dial" and tap on the kernel version 7 times. After that you can go back up a level in the menu and you'll see the developer options menu is available.
