The Illusive RAM - Shift Accessories

So, I poked about the web a bit for the HTC Shift disassembled, and stumbled upon a couple pictures displaying 214 pin MicroDIMM RAM sockets and chips inside the unit. I know that this variant of RAM exists in 2GB versions, and in PC5300 variants, however I have not seen these two together on a single stick.
So, the question is: Where can I purchase 214-pin 2GB PC5300 MicroDIMM RAM?

Don't know why you're looking for 5300, but this one fits and runs fine:

4gb minisd

Has anyone tried the 4gb minisd on the Wizard, yet? I'm thinking about gettin 1 but I'm don't know if the Wizard/tmo mda will support it or see the entire 4gb.
I found this while looking for a 4gb sd to buy, and now i will just stick with the 2gb i have in fear of this same thing happening after i buy one for my 8125
i knowits not a Wizard, but still...

It is a scam. Read the feedback. These are hacked 2GB and smaller cards that have been formatted to be 4GB, but that greatly shortens their shelf life, and in most cases they'll die within a few months, if they last that long.
How do you hack something so freakin small?
I'm not positive, but I think it says in the manual (8125) that it will only recognize up to 2GB ... Probably will change with later updates...just as the earlier PCz would only recognize so much RAM and HDD space until their CMOS was updated.
It may be a hardware limit. I'm from the DRAM side of things, so I'm not exactly certain how flash is addressed, but I do know that with DRAM, most computers are limited by the physical number of address drivers that are built into the chipset. Just looking at a Mini-SD, I'd guess that it's a serial device, so maybe it's just a matter of a firmware upgrade to change the bit size of the address data - or maybe it's something completely different and I have no idea what I'm talking about (it wouldn't be the first time!)

I've never heard of a 4GB miniSD, before this post. (I have seen 4GB SD cards advertised, could there be a confusion with that?)
If there are 4GB miniSD cards available, could someone post a link to them?
Here is a link :

much more expensive than 2 2GB cards though ... I'll need to wait a little bit to get a cheaper one for my (future) Wizard (I'm waiting for the one I've just bought on ebay )
beware!!! their are fake sd cards on ebay!!! Usually the cheap ones are the fake ones!
They are also on Amazon.com for $146. They claim that they have them in stock and others have mentioned that the picture of the card has been edited--the number 4 that is. I am somewhat tempted to try it if Amazon will back me.
here is a story of a ripp-off on ebay : http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/mall/76525-4gb-minisd-card.html
4g miniSD that works
I have purchased a 4G miniSD from http://www.emartbuy.co.uk/index.php.
It works. There is a small problem with access time, i.e. it takes longer to write to and access the card than the 2G did, but apart from that there are no issues.
All I did was use a card reader and copy everything from the 2G card to the 4G card, put it in the device and away it went, like nothing had changed. Except now there is twice the storage. YAY. The card is brandless and is probably a reflashed card, but I don't care because it works for me.
I have an Imate KJAM.
I have puchased on from Moby memory,
http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?prod=miniSD_4096mb_MOBY_002
Seems to work OK in my Xda MiniS, and IQ

[Q] A70 - Memory resoldering...?

Good day!
Has anybody some thoughts about Subj(chips type, organization)?
Is it possible?
P.S. I speak about RAM,of course...
Impossible? Or nobody thought?
I'm sorry, can't get your meaning

He means:
Is it possible to solder new memory to the Archos units by removing the existing RAM chips and putting in new ones and if so, what brand and model of memory works. He was then wondering if perhaps no one has looked into or attempted this before.
As for the answer, I would guess no one has attempted this before because it is one hell of a hardware hack to desolder a chip like that and who knows if larger chips would work. I would not risk it personally, but I don't have that kind of disposable income that would allow me to not get pissed off if I trashed my unit. LOL
Not possible. CPU is on top of RAM (package-on-package, or something like that). Archos also confirmed somewhere that even if you were crazy enough to still try it, the processor can't physically access more memory.

I wonder how hard it would be to upgrade the storage of an 8gb unit to 16, 32, etc. ??
Clear...
Thanks to All for answers!

Would there be any advantage in that over installing a larger sd card?
I would assume that the memory chips are surface mount with lots of tiny legs. They would be almost impossible to change with a soldering iron. Replacement of SM chips is done with a machine that has a hot air nozzle the size and shape of pattern of legs around the chip. It melts the solder on all the legs at once without heating up the chip.
Some people are saying the memory is under the CPU, others vice-versa
Whatever the case, I guess Archos did it on purpose.
Anyway, this mod really looks harder to achieve than the one I was thinking about:

[Q] Custom ROM for Superpad II model: 'SAWEE10' ?

I bought this tablet:
Link: http://www.aliexpress.com/product-g...220-Super-Pad-HD-10-2-Tablet-wholesalers.html
And found out that it is a knockoff of the original ibex FlyTouch 3. This tablet model number is : SAWEE10. Instead of Disco10 or disco. I was wondering if there is any chance of running a custom ROM on it.?
The original flytouch comes with an 8000mAh battery while this comes with a 5600mAh battery.
If there is no chance of a custom ROM, can I even root this device and make a ROM backup so that I can try removing useless apk's? I think there might be an internal microSD card that contains the ROM, so I am planning on making a copy of it and then messing around with it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Hey did you ever find out what you can do with that knockoff you have? I have the same one and can't find anything on the net. Everyone in the forums tell me to return the tablet. That's not a challenge to me
I received it and found out that the Model number is : SAWEE10. It auto shuts off every 30 minutes or so. Playing back 720p mkv's are no problem, but gaming lags and games like raging thunder misread the accelerometer data, so it cannot be used. But Doodle Jump works fine
But no custom ROM for this model???
Sadly, none yet. But the stock ROM is not that bad as it is. I will open mine up soon and make a backup of the internal MicroSD card. Then I am going to remove all the useless apps and junk that comes preloaded.
What app are you using for "system info" I see from the site you got your tablet from, it has a ARM11 cpu. The site I got mine says the same, but when I run this info app I got, it says I have a ARMv6 in mine. Maybe thats why its so damn slow. It also says 791Mips
ARM11 CPU's are based on the ARMv6 architecture. Just like how the Galaxy S2 is an ARM Cortex A9 based on the ARMv7 architecture.
The app I am using is called 'Android System Info' : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.electricsheep.asi&hl=en
If you refer here: http://cnmaxever.com/blog/armv6-arm11-chips-telechips-tcc8902-infotmic-imapx200-zenithink-zt-180/
You will find that 1MIPS is 1.2MHz. Mine is the Infotmix IMAPX200 and says 839MIPS. So it is running at 1GHz.
Mind sharing the link you bought yours from?
I know it might be a little slow, but the multimedia performance is better than my old laptop with a 1.4GHz pentium 4 with 2GB of RAM.
Playing 1080p mp4 music videos and 720p mkv's through HDMI out is no problem at all. And games like Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds and Cut the Rope run quite well.
If you want to improve your touchscreen responsiveness, use this: https://market.android.com/details?id=br.shop4apps.touchscreenbooster.com&hl=en
Thanks for the links. That touchscreen booster made a big difference.
Here's the link where I got mine from. I can't remember the vendor, but there are
several hundred. I also just ordered some 7" models.
SORRY WON'T LET ME POST THE LINK I GOT THIS MESSAGE
"To prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. After approximately eight posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thanks for understanding!"
It came from dhgate dot com. just do a search for 10.2 1ghz 512mb tablets and you will get several hundred vendors.
If I can figure out the vendor I will re-post it to you. But I would not buy from
again, had a hard time with the seller on some issues. But there are plenty of
others to choose from.
I also ordered and received the original 10.2" Ibex tablet, but not able to play with it yet since it came to me with a cracked screen. Waiting for the screen replacement.
Yeah, new members cannot post links. You need 8 posts to post links.
I like the tablet a lot actually. I got mine at a crazy cheap price, so I don't really care. The Ibex one costs a bomb(almost twice of what I paid for mine). At that price I would rather save a bit more and buy myself the Galaxy Tab 10...
And like I said, the stock ROM is not that bad. It can be improved with other apps and task killers.
So you are giving up on your first tablet and moving onto the Ibex one?
No I still like the knock off. And as you said the Stock ROM is not bad at all. If I can't find the app on its favor of Market, I just download the app as a apk file and then install it. Most of the time they work. I did open mine up and there isn't a sd memory card in it. I just got the new touch screen for the Ibex and replaced that over the weekend and flashed it with the Tim6a. Works fine. The Ibex did have a removable sd card inside. Also just got 2 7" tablets from the same place as the knock off. They are 1ghz processor 1gig memory and 8gig drive space. I really love the 7" ones. Very fast, really touch sensitive screens and much faster over all. Now I'm looking to see what trouble I can do with them as well
Wow, the 7'' ones have 1GB of RAM? That is huge!!.
I opened up mine too, and found the MicroSD card in it. Had to delete a bootnimation that was preventing it from coming on, so I used a virtual machine booting puppy linux to access the EXT3 partitions.
And the 7'' ones will always be smoother, because the resolution is so much lower than the 10'' ones.
Yeah I think I like the 7" ones much better for now. I even just ordered another one from this place. Its 1.5ghz and has ICS 4.0 Beta on it. So I wana play with that now too
http://www.merimobiles.com/Teclast_P76ti_1_5GHz_CPU_HDMI_8GB_7inch_5_points_p/meri0709.htm
Cap. Screen for only $119. Don't know what Im gona do with all these tablets LOL
Haha, lucky you. I am sticking with my 10'' because it is fantastic for watching movies right off a thumbdrive. And it plays it equally well when outputting 1080p to my TV.

Android TV box recommendation?

Hi everyone. I tried an android TV device (a box with no screen) and as is typical for off brand devices it did not match the sellers specs (did not have 512mb of ram or 2 gig of nand). Also oddly typical it had some of what they promised so it made no sense why the manufacturer hobbled a good product over an extra $1 in parts saving (just a little more nand space and it would rock)…
Anyway, anyone try one they did have luck with that they can recommend? I just need a decent amount of program space (this one came with 60mb….) and a A9. 256mb of available ram would be ok.
Thanks
PS
Mine was labeled as a GV-4.

Got a FREE rk3188(T??), BUT, wrong firmware on it and no idea what real model it is

Hi guys
I purchased what I thought was an honest rk3188 the other day. It shows up calling itself a 'Flytouch 10' (Dont they use Allwinner chips?), nothing like the spec advertised, etc. To cut a long story short, I kicked off, got my money back and kept the tab. (So a Free 10.1" rk3188)
At first, I thought this was the evil 'T' chip version BUT, the more I dig through it im not so sure. The build.prop has been modded to call its self a 'Flytouch 10', however, ive also found references to 'T7013N' (looks like a tv card) and 'm8pro' (pipo). Its running Android 4.2.2 with no errors.
It uses the following hardware :
rk616 chip
Q1001_V1_1101 mainboard
skhynix RAM chip
AXP 202 (Powerchip???)
Im pretty sure it has the wrong firmware on it as it takes 2min30 to bootup but gets an Antutu score of 18k. Performance is sluggish at times but also very quick at times. Ive had the back off it and looked at the chips and the photo of the board is attached (NO branding on the CPU though ).
If anyone can help me identify this device or point me in the right direction of if it is a 3188 or a 3188T it would be an awesome help.
Chris
