Code:
*** Disclamer
This is only for the v500 WIFI-only model (product name awifi)
NOTE: I have not tested this build myself because I don't own an LG G Pad tablet (yet).
If you are afraid, then wait for someone else to test it
Introduction
I'm basically just curious and willing to learn, and fill in the gap when there is a gap (eg no one compiling a custom ROM/kernel for a device, and sources/device-tree/kernel are available, I'll try to do it)
I try to post steps/sources so that other people can learn/follow as well.
If someone wants to take over compiling this ROM, go ahead.
If I don't update the build for a long time, PM me to remind me.

I don't believe OmniROM is pre-rooted
flash SuperSU after rom if you want root....
// still trying to find a decently priced lg g pad, don't own one yet

Work Great Btw. The multi-window also seems to work fine from the little testing I did.
I just got this tablet myself.

last I tried multi-window (on another device), i believe each "side" of the split-screen is "standalone"
(i.e. you have google maps on the left side of the screen, gmail on right. If you try to click on a hyperlink on google maps, chrome (or whatever your default browser is) will open up on the left replacing google maps)
wonder if it's possible to open chrome up on the right, so you get "better" multi-window/multi-tasking because your original app and "newly launched" apps are running side by side

I have been rooting and installing various roms on all of my android phones but for some unknown reason I am wanting to be over protective with my tablet so I am sorry for asking but,
What were you running before updating?
I know it lists what you must have before installing but how did you do it?

i don't own a LG G Pad
as long as you already have a custom recovery installed (which requires initial root), and have a nandroid backup on the device itself AND on your computer, you should be fine
ask the other people who've already flashed it
I'm using almost the same device tree from CM11 (only need to convert the CM file structure-> omni file structure, no other changes), so there shouldn't be any unexpected surprises when you flash the ROM

I flashed this Last night and did flash the super user zip but I still diff not have root doff I miss a step?

Omni devs recommend Chainfire SuperSU

I stupidly did not flash St along with the multi window version and gapps. Now I can't get SU to work from the playstore. It says it needs to update binary but fails when it tries. I assume I need to flash the SU zip from my twrp recovery?
Anyone know how to get into recovery without root access? I was using a app that only works with root.

Yep I can get into recovery. For some reason trip wasn't able to install the latest supersu zip. Said it couldn't open it. So I'll try an older zip tonight.
I guess I still have root but I don't have root access due to lack of super user installed?

One thing I'm wondering. Is really flashing supersu through twrp sufficient to gain root? I've only hooked up my devices to run batch scripts in order to gain root so the idea of gaining root merely through flashing a zip is new to me.

TWRP should also warn you when you reboot TWRP after flashing a ROM without SuperSU...
Flashing the root update.zip will gain root.... TWRP/adb/fastboot is a lot easier than running batch scripts that use exploits (unless you are stock without TWRP, and you need exploit like Towelroot to intially root)

Thanks for this ROM. Finally can use android 5.0 on my deb nexus 7.. Successfully flashed this and so far so good. No problem or force close yet. Haven't tried with sim. Everything's run smoother now.

Flash the FLO bootloader. It's OK.
is it only working as primary via multiRom recovery?
I installed it as secondary and it failed to boot.
Google+ still missing for me here
Just finished booting.
Root is no-go for me (says binaries not installed despite having installed supersu zip).
Gonna see if I can tinker around with it to make it work, but for now no root for me.

That is an affirmative.
Also after you install it as primary, you'll need to install a kexec kernel to be able to boot to your other (now secondary) rom.
ElementalX 3.00 should work fine for that.

root does not work
on this core
I flashed my deb to stock 4.4.4, installed twrp, followed all instructions in op, and I cannot root. Thus I second another user's experience with root not working/SuperSU saying there are no binaries installed. I did install the supersu zip in twrp.
Also can't install Google+ neither from Market nor APK.
Fixed by flashing newer gapps package found here.

Actually CM12 uses its own Privacy Guard to manage root, so you don't really need SuperSu or any other superuser app.

Check the MD5 after downloading to insure the file is as expected.

I have this CM12 installed and running on my v510 right now and it is unbelievable. The thrill of seeing the cyanogen boot ani on my v510 was beyond words. Will report any issues but it looks great so far. I did a dirty flash (only wiped system, dalvik cache and cache) over the stock lollipop and Sleekai4.7 with no problems. Will likely clean full wipe install later today but just wanted to play, thank you so much for breathing new life into this great device.
Thank you sir, will be sending you some $$$ today you deserve it.

Simply put, it is a way to insure that what you downloaded is what was put on the download site by the creator. There are many windows and android free versions of the MD5 checksum utility. Once you download something you open it in the MD5 checker and it will generate and MD5 hash (among others) you then compare it to the one on the download page. If it does not match it is not the same file as placed there. Either a bad download or worse case scenario a virus or other malware was injected into the download.

Looking good
OK, I have been playing now for a bit and I can say this build looks pretty solid. I could not gain root access for any apps until I flashed UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip in TWRP since then all has been well. I can write access to system folders and SD media card fine with FX File Explorer. All root apps ie.. better battery stats , Titanium bu, stick mount and Trickster mod and busy box all look fine. And still only on a dirty flash from stock lollidog. As expected no GPS which is no biggie for me had it turned off anyway, rarely leaves my house. And maybe I am drunk with enthusiasm but the display looks crystal clear and brighter than ever before (whiter whites !!!).
Fantastic !!!

If you were able to do that then you don't need to flash this. Twrp wouldn't flash it for me so I used the assert lines from a cm12.1 nightly, and then added the superSU flashing

[Beta][Marshmallow/6.0][XT1575/1572] Systemless Root

Systemless Root
Read this first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63197935&postcount=2
To summarize:
This is an experimental root process
[*]It needs an unlocked bootloader
[*]It needs the system to have no trace of any other superuser solutions
[*]This will patch the kernel RAMDisk to include the su binary
[*]Following that, all calls to execute commands as root will be handled from here
[*]This means no system partition modification
[*]This also means Android Pay works
[*]Since this is experimental, expect apps with hardcoded su calls to not work (blame the app developer)
[*]Also, there are bugs as Chainfire stated but it's been stable up until now
[*]I have not tried this on the XT1572 but it should work
Click to collapse
IMPORTANT!
You need to revert to completely stock/clean marshmallow without any SuperSU installed.
Installation Instructions:
Install the kernel patch - systemless_root.zip
Install SuperSU (systemless) - SuperSU v2.56
DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER SUPERSU MODULES
IGNORE ANY TWRP MESSAGES ABOUT SUPERSU or SU in general

Aaaand....ignore this post.
XDA discourages place holder threads. Without a download link, this will probably be shut down pretty soon.

Yeah...really should tidy up your instructions. Tons of stuff to wade through in that link thread. No "clark" for our phone. Also, a layman's, two-sentence overview of what this is and does may be helpful to many. Thanks!

And I definitely jumped to a conclusion I shouldn't have.

Will there be a download in this thread (curious because I don't see a .zip for our phone in the linked thread) or just a link to @Chainfire's thread?

I'd say especially when you list yourself as the only contributor and just link to someone else's work. Who knows, maybe he created the .zip we need for the 1575/1572 and he's uploading it now? I suppose I shouldn't jump to conclusions.

Wow. Aren't you guys all respectful? This is a DevDB thread. The link was up in the Downloads section. For some reason my post edits/links didn't go through. Maybe check once before you fire all guns?

Apologies...as you know, many people try to get credit for work they didn't do (I'm obviously not a fan of that and let it get the best of me). It just looked odd since there was only a link to the original thread until just now. Again, apologies for jumping to conclusions and thanks for the work.
I couldn't find any info anywhere how does systemless root benefit vs regular root by using the modified boot image? thanks!

Yeah. I get that. Don't worry about it.

Sorry about that. I saw [WIP] as the thread title and no download links in the OP and assumed this was another "I'm first to start working on it but have nothing to share" thread that pop up all over XDA and immediately get closed.

From what I understand it allows you to root your phone without making any modifications to /system. So when a OTA is released you flash the stock kernel and accept the OTA. This assumes you've made no changes to /system once you gained root.

It's working great, I had to reinstall superSU from the play store as it was not showing up in the app drawer. Everything is working.
@alnikki25k BTW. Congratulation on the brilliant idea and implementation of a script that make the systemless root changes to the kernel, could this be used with another device?
Can I use this with the stock odexed (unrooted) from here:

Thanks, great work!

worked so far.. flashed the stock odexed no root. rebooted and did quick gmail setup. Went back to TWRP and flashed the files for the kernel and SuperSU. When prompted by TWRP to install SuperSU after flashing the files I said do not install per instructions. Booted up and restoring with titanium as I type.
Next question would be if anyone was able to get xposed working with systemless root? Probably not going to take that plunge since I got root mainly for titanium and ad blocker.
Edit. All apps back. Running good. Not trying xposed yet. Android pay loaded no problem. Added cards no problem. Doing good so far
Tested on XT1572 , everything works flawlessly except es file explorer unable to request for su permission for some reason.
Thanks again for this

Yep, ES Explorer does not work with systemless root, change to Solid Explorer that works well.
Thanks for this, now I have android Pay working properly.
BTW: good ole root explorer still works.

Hi,
Thank you!
Does the kernel force encrypt?
Yes it is encrypted, AFAIR.

Not encrypted on my install on stock kernel. Custom kernels break WiFi though.
Hmm, it's unclear to me now. Will flash the rom and use a custom kernel to be sure. Encryption is not an option for me.
Sorry been too long since I started from "stock" ROM.
I just looked up my base ROM and it states no encryption.

Custom kernel breaks WiFi.
Stock kernel will NOT encrypt your phone.
Thanks both!

Question?
My phone has downloaded a system update, should I install this or just ignore it? I'm just asking because I don't know if this would break the root access if I go ahead and install it, a response is greatly appreciated.

I would not. Go to Settings, Apps Google Play Services and turn off all notifications.

Yeah, what he said. Taking an ota with a custom recovery = bad news
Are you planning on keeping this ROM updated with Google monthly patchs?
