u sure? I mean it says it is just compatible to the other phone but it still might work on Z2.

Download the Light Flow app - there's an option in there (at least in the Pro version) that will allow you to turn it off.

Or if rooted with you can use the xposed module Gravity Box to turn it off. I just have

I tested it. Only GravityBox for KK is able to turn off the charging led for now (although it has other compatibility issues so I wouldn't recommend it).

Tried this on Xperia Z3v, no dice. I found the settings in the app to disable LED on charging and on low battery, but they don't do anything. The phone ignores the app completely. Looks like rooting is the only option unless/until Sony pushes a desperately needed fix. Maybe they sleep with the lights on in Tokyo? :-O
UPDATE! :: It DOES work on the Xperia. You have to turn on notifications in Settings -> Display -> Notification Light. I had that off because I don't like any lights, and having it off prevents Light Flow Pro from having any control.
UPDATE 2 - seemed to work, then it just stopped working and the bright orange then green LED bar at the top stays on constantly while plugged in again. Sorry

Why don't you root your phone then? At least you have the option!:victory: I am now on my very first IPhone.....and I am desperately missing having an LED, even if woke me up at night. I miss you, LED!!

Root solved the issue trough gravitybox. Now lollipop screwed it up again (no xposed framework). Need to know what parameters I have to change to disable it

Use black docktape

I used an app called charging led and changed the colour to red for all battery level colour. You can also turn it off there too.

Blue, red, green (presumably an app could also provide mixed colours).
bought it juz for fun.
pleasantly surprised by the functions it offers.
a good buy definitely. doesnt cost a kidney too.
on my s3 when lightflow is on it activates talk back function when choosing home screen page. and talk back and driving mode are off :S
Yep - thats a bug (not with Lightflow) but elsewhere as this also happens with other apps that require Accessibility function.
Requires root or not?

I cannot seem to get it to work at all? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Did you guys need to use direct mode?
Root isn't required.
Yes talk back is an android bug in ics that Google seem happy to ignore. Their support even blame the app devs such as ourselves (and the tasker devs) for the issue but will not reply once you challenge them. It's really frustrating!
I hope to get an s3 over the next week or so to see if there are any extra things I van hook into that Samsung have added to ics.
I have one person with the lte version of the phone and it seems that that doesn't work so well as all the colors are messed up. I hope it's a pre production bug.
New version of the app due soon with quite a few additions.

You need select the function from accessability. Untick led functions within settings and that's it. Let me know of that works.
I think the talkback issue is more of a touchwiz issue, as if you change the launcher to Apex there is no problem
Also i have totally removed talkback from my device... And i still habe the same issue.. So im quite sure what else to try

Had the same problem and had to do a factory reset.
Well I managed to pick up and S3 for development.
I've been playing around with the tackback issue. What is working for me at the moment is going into accessibility. Switching "ON" talkback. Then pressing the "settings button at the bottom".
Uncheck every checkbox in the settings.
Then switch talkback OFF again.
Could anyone else see if this helps for them?
New version of lightflow due very soon, just fixing up a few last bits for the s3 with the new version.

Tried the above still have the talkback bug only but it only seems to be touchwiz related i.e when I open folders on a homescreen or go into the homescreen manager. Seems that the bug appeared after I enabled tasker under accessibility settings.
pulsing led
If you turn on or off your s3, you can see the led actually pulsing blue and greenish... I wonder if an app could make the led pulse in the same way for notifications...

[Q] More LED options?

Just wondered if theres any apps out there which add more LED options? Maybe frequency and colour change?

Good point - I was going to root last night then thought I'd be screwed if something goes wrong with the phone!
yeah thats what im waiting for , really dont want to void the warranty on a few day old phone by rooting it
Well you can always restore the phone to factory settings, reset the flash counter and unroot which isnt that hard tbh and then nobody would ever no you rooted or flashed another ROM and to your warranty would be intact!
Im going to try out this app now cheers guys!

I have SMS setup to blink green. Here is what happens
Green light comes on
Screen turns on for like 5 seconds showing the lockscreen and the new message
Green light comes on for a short duration
Red light comes on even shorter.
No more blinks.
I recommend lightflow lite..it is free and work perfectly with sgs3
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Your phone doesn't need to be rooted to run light flow.
The issue with SMS showing and then stopping is due to the way it's monitored.
The Samsung SMS app causes the app to pop-up when a new text comes in. Doing this causes lightflow to think the app has been entered and cancels the notification straight away.
Could you try switch on "alternate off monitoring". That's what's needed for some other apps the have a pop-up like this.
I've got an s3 to test this out on, but I haven't got around to cutting a sim card down yet to try out the phone functionality. I plan to do that before releasing lightflow release 3.
To avoid battery drain make sure you set "notification type" TO "Show latest only" in general settings of light flow.

Led Problem

Hallo XDA Friends,
I have a problem with the LED on my month old s3 ( euro unbranded )
Everything was going great with the LED I Installed Light flow everything was still fine.
I updated to JB official stock rom as i am unrooted, and since then the LED only works when
i boot up the phone and when i use the Test utility ( red green blue ) colours. With lightflow uninstalled
and no LED management software still nothing works. Also not with screen off.
Now I am stuck because it clearly is not a Hardware problem as It works on boot and in test mode,
But not in anny other situation.
I hope someone here can help me and thanks in advance!

if done already to go lightflow settings > uncheck enable lightflow > close app.

Hi,
First, download Light Manager on play store, use this app, not include in sammy rom.
If you are rooted, try Siyah Kernel, go to STweak, Misc > Notification > Fading.
Now, all is okay, no problems
Uncheck Lightflow in rom settings, or a big battery drain will coming...
Sorry for my awful english ^^'

The Xperia Z Ultra behaves the same way so this is normal sony behavior
There are three colors of led during charging: red - from 0 to 15%, orange to 90% and green to 100%.
This happens with my S3 too. I believe it is Android standard

does this for the Z and Z1 mobiles
You can modify it using Charging LED
Another option is to just use Lightflow... Been using it for years so I can get my own LED colours for everything (including battery stuff).

So using LightFlow for custom colors for the notification led works good on Z2?
I'm using LightManager and it works great. It even has alternating led notifications (f.e. mail and msg will trigger two colors).

Does it work when the screen is locked? I noticed my LED turns back to white when my screen is locked but turns to the correct color when unlocked.
Yes it does. Actually it works ONLY when the screen is off (even when testing colors). The moment you unlock your phone it resets all notification. I'm still testing free version but I might go for paid version soon (ad free, not that it bothers me but wanna support devs).

[APP] Automate - get Always on Display to turn on only when you get a notification

I was looking for a very simple way of having AOD turn on when receiving a notification only. A quasi notification LED if you will. There was a Tasker method that was a little complicated and didn't work for me that well.
I found that another Tasker-type app does it very simply and very well and takes about 2 mins to step up. Now my AOD only comes on when i get a notification and goes off when i clear the notification.
Here's how to do it:
1. Download Automate from the Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.llamalab.automate&hl=en_AU
2. After downloading, go to 'More Flows...' in the menu.
3. Hit 'Start'
4. Search for 'AOD Manager' - the only entry found should be 'AOD Manager v2'. Download it.
5. Go back to main menu and you will now see it there. Run it! You will have to install a few other Automate add ons and allow permissions but that is essentially it.
6. It also turns on AOD when charging.
Works great!
I have nothing to do with the app or the flow - just found it and thought it is a 2 minute install that works.
Can it work if we've got the medium power saving turned on, I think it'll moan because Medium power saving disables the ability to turn on AOD
Still really cool though, thanks for sharing!

yes it works as I also run medium power savings, you should turn off AOD in settings before doing this.
Thank you for posting this! Works fantastic!
Great find? Works like a charm. This is exactly how I want aod to work!
Works great, is it possible to remove the automate notification?
attached schedule flow where you can set the time when you don't want the AOD to turn on, for example when going to sleep, add it then edit the time that suits you.

yes just turn off notifications for the app.
Very nice idea and taught! I think this should be a stock option.
Thank you.
Can you please also share how you did this with Tasker? I could figure this out myself probably, but have little time and if the task is possible to export or copy, why bother.

First, make sure that you give both app and flow the needed permissions.
Second, go to the AOD settings and make sure the AOD display mode is set to "Show always". If it's set to "Tap to show" it will not work like intended and you will have to tap the screen twice to trigger the phone to show the AOD.
Once the flow is running make sure to disable the notification for AutomateIt. Otherwise the flow will keep the AOD always on since there is a notification running all the time. Same is for listening to music, the notification will keep the AOD on.
And I suggest to disable the logging since the size of the log will quickly get huge.
When I run AOD and start the flow, AOD is always on (like the name says ) but that's what I don't want!
