|REQ| Brightness adjust - Paranoid Android Features Development

I am a fan of touchwiz and one of my favorite features found in touchwiz is the pull down menu. I haven't used the latest PA and don't know if it is implemented yet, but I would like to be able to adjust the brightness from the pull down like touchwiz.

we definitely will NOT be adding in a brightness slider into QS or notification drawer.

Thanks for the reply, but just wondering...was the status bar brightness slider ever part of this ROM in previous versions of Android?

Can I ask how come? What is the best way to adjust brightness with PA? every way seems much more effort than brightness slider on status bar

because its a couple more clicks away and im insanely lazy and i thought it was all about having less steps to be more productive? lol also you guys dont have the "swipe" on notification screen to get to quick settings which blows my mind even more than not having brightness sliders haha

funny that you said that and then said #stayparanoid haha. I'm staying for the recents and smoothness, ill survive without the others, just wondered if there was a logical explanation as to why those features were absent or if they were being implemented ever, all good, thanks!

Jelly Bean Notification Toggles

I've been watching various videos about Jelly Bean and I've noticed whenever the notification bar is pulled down, there are no toggles. I haven't heard or seen anything about this so it made me wonder, are they doing away with toggles in the notification bar?
Maybe the toggles were turned off lol

Toggle the toggles!
There are no notification toggles in stock Android. ICS didn't have them either. It's just an extremely common feature in AOSP custom ROMs, so anyone who doesn't have a Nexus is used to them being a feature. CM10 will certainly have toggles, just like CM9.

Wow I wasn't aware of that. On my Motorola Photon I didn't have toggles either. It just seems kind of weird to me that it is not a stock ICS feature.

That's one of the reason some people actually like samsung os they introduce the toggles a few years ago, some features the ICS has have been available for root users or some manufactures, but not all of them, but they think is good the google is open that's why you have flavors of cakes not just one

I'm afraid not. That kind of actions are highly unlikely to be modified by custom rom builders like cyanogenmod. Not entirely sure, but i believe the notification bar shows up when you activate the app switcher by holding the home button. That way you can access the notification bar in a rather quick way.
In apps like Camera yes, it's possible in ParanoidAndroid, but in games notif. drawer is hidden and it's forced.

[REQUEST][AOKP] Toggle Data

Would it be possible for someone building AOKP to put in a mobile data toggle for the notification bar? It is the ONLY thing that is keeping me from using this on the daily. Devs, rock on.

You can try these.... I prefer the Power Toggles it allows you to put a whole lot more into the Notification Bar than any Rom I have come across.

4.2.2<4.1.2?

Am I the only one who thinks Google messed up many android features in 4.2?
1) Notification power widgets . now you need a 2nd panel for that.
2) AOKP allows revert to old style power widgets, but they are laid out poorly and less elegant compared to <4.2
3) Lockscreen widgets. Can someone PLEASE explain how this is faster/,more efficient than simply setting a lockscreen target? For example, soundhound ID now can be a lockscreen target. If you set it as a lockscreen widget, it takes more swipes/effort to get to.
.if you agre e or have any helpful workarounds for googles ridiculous decisions, I'd love to hear. Much thanks, all.

I 100% agree.
The lock screen widgets, very sadly, remind me of windows 8. There is no need to have x amount of lock screens. Press the power button and move the lock ring to what ever app you wanna open.
Aren't the notification toggles CM based tho?

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but if using cm10.1 you can enable the old style toggles in settings/system/notification drawer, check power widget and configure. You can also disable lockscreen widgets using an app from the Playstore named lockscreen policy. That pretty much solves your issues. Also, as mentioned those toggles were from cm not Google. 4.2+ are the first builds to have toggles.

At first I preferred 4.1.2 but after using 4.2.2 for awhile I really like it. I ignore the lockscreen widgets and with the toggles set to pull down from either right or left on the status bar it works really well.
I figured I had to adapt to stay current and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. :victory:

i just use CMs notification widgets its the same as the old one and i make sure the other ones dont pop up. as for lockscreen widgets. i dont use them much but i do like widgetlocker. that thing has so many different addons for notifications its pretty badass. better than the old one of just clock and weather and calendar. i dont use much of the other widgets for anything else though. you can set the lockscreen to always have targets as the primary when waking up so you dont have push the lock button then target what you want to open. then it ends up just working like 4.1.2 just you have a better lockscreen clock/notifications display.

Yeah, I'm liking it better. Also, I just noticed, in the 4.2 gallery (which I've used for a long time, but never noticed this,) when you're in filmstrip view, you can just sweep up to delete pics. Very convenient.

Yeah there's cool swipe features thru out. I love swiping the bottom of the notification pulldown to toggle between that and your tiles. I like the way Google is going with swiping instead of pressing for said action

I must have some setting wrong, cuz sweep in my notification drawer just closes it. If I pull down from right edge, it does open tiles, though. Honestly, I haven't dug into the settings as much as I ususally do. There's just too many, it's overwhelming lol. Running mikeshepards release of rootbox. Hell, the pie settings, haven't even looked em hahaha

Honestly i feel as 4.2 simply added more "sweets" to 4.1, and we have the choice to ignored these features.i love the toggles, one of the features im impatiently waiting for in the Evo 4.2 Sense 5 update. As far as lock screen widgets go i use one and only 1 widget, daily motivational quotes widget i disable all other ones (Even the camera widget), but for each their own. we could have updates like IOS where we get little to no new eyecandy to play and show off *Shurgs*

Notification bar pull-down dim?

Hi, I was wondering if there was a mod that could be added to the DNA that enabled the screen to dim behind notifications when the notification panel is expanded?

I think it's AOSP feature, not sense.
So if you will have a AOSP-based rom you will have it without any mods.
But I may be wrong.

meh, i'm glad htc didn't do this. i'm pretty sure this feautre is what lags up the notification dropdown bar on all jellybean devices. my nexus 7 notification bar sucks..it's so laggy. and when samsung switched to JB and added that feature, their notification bar is like 20fps and lags down like crazy compared to when they had a flawless constant 60fps dropdown on ICS..kinda same with AOSP. the ICS dropdown was a higher FPS and was faster and less laggy; project butter my ass.
Works flawlessly for me on PAC. No lag whatsoever.

Me too, if anything the JB animations did nothing to decrease performance in Android. Everything I've seen is smooth, ICS however not so smooth.
