[Q] Strange random sound coming from my Nexus 5. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, this use to happen on my Galaxy Nexus and now happens on my Nexus 5. This random fluid sounding set of beeps comes from the phone for no apparent reason. I FINALLY managed to record it after all of these years.
youtu.be/wFEVg5MjK78
Does anyone know what this means and why it happens? Sometimes it will just do it once sometimes multiple times in succession. Then it might not do it for a week. Doesn't matter if the phone is locked or not. Completely random.....
Thanks in advance!

Could be due to many problems :
1)motherboard is failing
2)ram is failing
3)water damages causing motherboard to trigger speaker at wrong times (short circuitry)
Did you try overclocking it?

I overclocked my galaxy nexus but I haven't even tried to root my nexus 5 so no. I have dropped it a few times. Maybe its just that?

I tried just with the base rom thats rooted that I did a backup of. Still did it. And also did it before bean had the option of that kernel. (Running bean build 6)

I'd find it hard to believe if anyone doesn't have this issue on their Note 2. All 3 Note 2's in my family have exhibited this problem since day 1 of ownership of each device. I've also read about people reporting it all over various forums.
I'm sure some people will suggest that their device doesn't have any crackling at max volume, but who knows. I'm chalking it up to that's just the way it is and either get a different phone altogether or get used to it

Yeah I feel ya. I am dismissing it as just the way it is because there's no way my family alone has 3 lemons. Not possible. Especially considering all 3 were purchased from separate locations at separate times.
I wish I could get lucky though like the deniers and get a special little snowflake device, sheltered from the harsh defects of assembly line processing.

[Q] Automodus keeps getting activated

Since a couple of weeks automodus gets activated by itself. I keep getting this annoying popup one after another.
I tried different roms and firmwares, however, nothing worked. After a few days it shows up.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue or how to delete automodus?
Thanks in advance!

Z3v Overheating

My phone has been over heating. A LOT. Even with basic use. No gaming or anything. Anyone experience this? I called tech and they were no help. Told me to run in safe mode and remove my SD card..... Ya that won't work for me.
Thinking about full wipe but I dread resetting up everything.

I haven't had any issues like that. Only over heading I experienced were while using car navigation while wireless charging. You can try shopping cache plus restart to see if something is stuck, or if you have a new installation freeze that and see if things get better.
Another thing to look at is detailed battery use, see if there is any surprises. Many times the app that causes heating will also cause faster battery drain. If you can't find the app then full wipe may be needed.
Edit: one other question, did you change case recently? some cases don't transfer heat as well.
I did. A lot. Got to the point that I could take one picture and the camera would shut off because it was over heating. Hard reset didn't fix anything. I also had wireless problems (wifi would never stay off, airplane mode didn't work), and battery life was pretty poor (coming from Note 2). Replacement phone seems much better on all counts.
Thanks for the info guys. No case on the phone. Still working on rooting and playing with Xposed.... Maybe something there will help.... Or just have Verizon send a new one. I really do love this phone... So hopefully I can resolve this.... Maybe lollipop will help... If we ever get it....

I found that using settings reset is just below factory reset cleaned up my issues. It retains your programs and data.

Update
So had Verizon send me a new phone..... Have had it a day and a half and have already seen signs of over heating...... Granted it's close to 100 outside..... But I've been in the car with AC using GPS and it was getting really warm. I've had SEVERAL other phones with the same or more heavy usage with no over heating issues......
Not sure what to do. If it keeps up I'm going to have to consider a new phone....
Anyone know of any risks using the phone when it's over heating??? It's not going to explode or catch fire is it???

Same here. I can use the camera on this one but this is annoying. Might sell and go back to my trusty Note 2 that still hasn't sold anyway.
Anybody find any workarounds (besides the tin-foil inside the case thing)? I get camera shut-down after just playing around with the various modes without even recording anything. Thinking about getting an ice-pack to mount on the phone when I want to record videos......

tried bro..... not working!
I was having the overheat issue when I used the camera, so i downloaded the google camera app and it seems to work better.
My wife and I got refurbished phones from VZW, her's crashes to home screen now (Camera) and mine works for a few minutes longer than the old one.
Right now I am looking into getting a new phone, this one is getting annoying, want something I can get current Android version on and not a year old unpatched (Stagefright) leak that is not even Marshmallow.

Anyone having lag on his Note 7

Hello,
I have been using my Note 7 since release and I have notice some strange lag that I have not been in quite a while, this usually happens after the phone is on standby for a while. This is really annoying because something I just want to check something my phone is like a toaster for 5 seconds to unlock I'm like wth is this and even dropped frames during unlock, after that I have to close all application and it will come back to normal after a new minutes. I am not sure how many people may comment since a lot Note users have returned their, I just wanted to know if I was the only one.

Bluetooth crackling/static

Is anyone else having an issue when streaming music via Bluetooth? It sounds like static/crackling, kinda like the audio is being clipped at the higher end.
I just got the phone on Monday so I have time to try and exchange it if it could be a bad phone. Just not sure if it is a common issue or not.
Sent from my VS988 using Tapatalk
It could also be your Bluetooth device. try yhe device with other phones and see if the static persists. make sure you test 1 to 3 songs across the devices and make sure the songs are the same.

No, it's definitely not that. This is in my car and I just came from the V10 and there were no issues with the V10.

I too came from a V10. my V10 had plenty of problems, my Beats Solo 2 wireless would crack a lot, as well as my Jaybirds x2. once I got my G6 the only cracking I got was when I stepped out of rage. anyways I'm just saying to test things out with multiple devices, multiple Bluetooth devices would be ideal as well. don't just quickly assume it's not something. doesn't matter if it's a car or not tech is tech and some of it may be defected.

I can try other things but so far it does the exact same thing in my car and my wife's car. I am fairly certain it is related to the phone.
Sent from my VS988 using Tapatalk
Just tried it with one of my Bluetooth speakers and I get the same issue. It almost seems like the more stuff connected to Bluetooth the worse it is.
So far it seems like it isn't as bad when I am not wearing my smart watch. I might try it with my fit bit disconnected too to test that theory.

I haven't had any issues with BT on my VS988.
So i just exchanged the phone for a new oneand have the same issue. It is definitely something related to the phoneand how it handles bluetooth because my V10 with the same apps and devices doesn't have this issue.
Sent from my VS988 using Tapatalk
I had the same problem and exchanged phones –after adding things Lil by Lil I had the same issue and narrowed it down to my Samsung smart watch - when I disabled the watch or the gear software it would stream fine – after a lil while with phone I'm realizing it is VERY VERY VERY BUGGY and VERY VERY VERY SLOW and Verizon's service is too

Yea, it somehow seems related to my watch too (Huawei), but I am not sure if it is the watch or just the fact that it is always using the Bluetooth as well.

My jaybirds won't stay connected, haven't tested on another phone, but have a ton of other devices and G6 has been solid .. Google search led me to believe it was hardware issue with my out of warranty jaybirds ... I'd get an RMA or new replacement dude

yeah my Jaybirds do that too. what I do is ON the G6 I hold volume down and power to get me to that recovery page or what it is called and then all I do is wipe cache, it helps me. not sure if it will help you.

This is the second phone that does the exact same thing so I don't think another phone will solve the issue. The only thing I haven't done is a factory reset and install one so at a time.

It does kinda suck, but I have a feeling it has to do with Android Wear app. So I think at some point I am going to do a factory reset and only install apps that don't use Bluetooth at all and then keep installing one at a time to see if I can narrow it down.

Definitely share your results. I sold my Nexus 6p or I would do some more testing as well.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the phone's bluetooth. It happens to me when connected to my Android Wear watch. If I turn off my watch, the crackling stops.
Yea, I am pretty positive it is Android Wear/Smart Watch related. I unpaired my watch from my phone and uninstalled Android Wear and the issue seems gone.
Weird.
EDIT: Nevermind, it's still there, it was better for a while.

LG & Verizon (SMH)
The Bluetooth is TERIBLE on these phones - The BLE doesn't work and too many devices paired (especially smart watches) messing up streaming something Awful. There are MANY software bugs especially using google music and many other programs/apps - the longer you use the phone to more the bugs will standout, but in LG's defense they have issued a software update, but with Verizon there's Really No Telling when will get it (if we get it)

How do you know LG issued an update? What's weird is my old V10 didn't have this issue, I wonder if it is Nougat related.
