An honest review from the heart. The Moto E is the perfect phone I've been waiting for , because
1. It's so cheap(really, I don't have 20-30k to spend on a phone I won't be using after 2 years).
2. It's latest Android version.
3. It does not lag so much, what they wrote is totally false. The UI is butter smooth. Trust me.
4. I got my phone on 16th May and it hasn't faced a FC even once.
5. I play games like 2048, QuizUp(a Heavy game really), and Cut the Rope 2 and it's really smooth, no lag and no FC. Quitting apps is also smooth and it goes to the home screen immediately.
6. I don't use camera so I don't care and it doesn't hurt.
7. I love the design and the back.
So please don't go for these absurd reviews by haters.
Edit:
Forgot to mention I didn't root for warranty reasons.

Thanks I already have a moto g which is amazing and buying moto e (when it comes back in stock) for family...... So if it lags its my reputation on the line here Haha.... They wanna go with s duos 2 but am forcing them to get a Moto E
Sent from my XT1033 using Tapatalk

Moto E doesn't lag at all, been using it for 4 days....no lags, no FCs....n the UI is smooth, and Multitasking is a delight!

Folks at PokectNow are dumbs.. Would you believe sayings of thousand reviewers or this one ****ty writer ?? Believe me, it's perfect smartphone in it's price range and I never encountered with apps being forced closed or any problem like that and In fact Moto E beats Galaxy S5 in speed test (check video from Tom Rich on Youtube).

Pocketnow people are used to their high-end phones and give a review with high-end phones in mind. Check out geekyranjit's review/hands-on (I find his videos as honest reviews).
From my experience for the past 4 days, the Moto E is smooth, stable and quite fast. (check out Android Authority's video on the Moto E vs Galaxy S5). I've not faced a force close as yet and yes the camera is disappointing but I didnt buy the phone because of the camera, I bought it because of the functionality and optimized software.

Yes the only reason I am choosing Moto e over Samsung Galaxy s duos 2 ( which has a front can and flash) because I believe that Moto E wud have a much better UI so that review really put me off for a while there...
Thanks guys

Try to plug it into some other power point.
The power shocket could be delivering more power than recommended..
Saying this with experience...
Have seen same chaeger and mob behaving as you said in one power shocket while pretty good in another...

got my moto e today thrilled at the experience, bro there is NO lag. belive me. maybe it will behave like a normal android after being filled with apps but then thats normal. but NO lag. it rushes to places. moto e isnt used to walking.

Trust me. In terms of performance, it outperforms my Razr Xt912. Given Razr is rooted, highly modded and Moto E is at pure stock. I'd say don't worry a bit.
I'm not sure what typing speed that guy at pocketnow has but I guess mine is pretty decent and I've never faced a keyboard lag either.
I did get FC's but that was testing ART. Never (not a single one) on Dalvik.

Art is not viable on this phone...mostly due to how all apps wud need more leg room in already little internal storage

That blog post is complete and utter nonsense. I've gotten this phone 2 days after release by Flipkart. So far 0 issues of FC, 0 lags encountered, the battery is great. Even the earphones are surprisingly good.
I'd go into depth as to how misleading that post is, but pretty much everything there is biased and the post is comparing this device to highend phones. I'm coming from a 200mb ram android, and this phone has been absolutely amazing.
The only faults with this phone is-
Camera
No usb cable out of the box.
Ofcourse there are better options for mobiles, but with this pricetag there's simply no better option. The reviewer either received a faulty device or a faulty brain.

Really disappointed HTC One X+

Hi there,
I have HOX+ since 3 weeks or so, and I'm really disappointed with it.
It promises you the best processor nowadays to play games, but well... No game runs smooth, either Tegra Zone, and most of Gameloft games are incompatible with our devices.
I've been talking today with HTC spanish chat Service and the girl, told me the problem was that I have 53 applications installed and 730MB of used RAM,
Sorry but... What the **** do you want me to have in a 64GB storage device?
He tells me the problem is about the free RAM memory but well... there's nothing we can do to fix that, it's their problem!
No one answers at @HTC, either @HTC_Spain, and the girl of the Chat support seems to be a ****ing bot who can't fix real problems.
Very bad HTC, it will be my last HTC ever
You can't return it? If I am not satisfied with my phones I return them.

Too late man...
I wanted to give it a try till modern combat 4 & vice city appears, but when I was playing them thinkin on Tegra processor... Well, it made me cry.
Is not good to get apk's outside playstore when I have already bought them just cause of "my device is not compatible"

I'm in the same situation as you, the gaming problems are to do with the way the cpu and gpu are managed, some people got lucky and don't have this problem , me , you and many others weren't so lucky . Oh, and its definitely not the RAM.
I am pretty sure this will be fixed also from HTC
Most games I played and tested runs smooth after custom kernel and rom

The best processor & gpu now is the Snapdragon S4 Pro + Adreno 320, not the Tegra3.
Even the dual core S4 + Adreno 225 is as good as the Tegra3 at gaming, if not slightly better at times.

I wonder if it will ship with Gingerbread...
I'm done with LG, I know AT&T probably has more to do with the update not coming out, but I gave them a chance and that's it for me. I will give my son this phone and take his upgrade and follow this forum to flash a little here and there for him. This is utter nonsense not to even have a stock 4.1.2 yet. And yet they keep rolling out devices. Total BS!! and before anyone says we do have 4.1.2 , I Know, but the premise of this rant is that devs could make better and more stable builds off of a stock release. Rant off.
Agreed. This phone is getting treated like garbage for no reason. At this rate, people on contract will have jellybean on this phone for maybe just a year, that's if we ever get an official release (not including snowjb, which I'm using now). I've never liked at&t.

We shouldn't HAVE to..... That's the issue
While I'm not for or against it since I feel what people do with their phones is their business, I do feel like we shouldn't have to turn our phone into another phone in order to make the best of it. We bought the OG because we wanted an OG (at least most of us).
I feel like the N4 conversion is more of a bandaid that's just covering the real issue.
Basically, step up your game LG/AT&T/whoever the hell else is responsible for us being on old software with a brand new phone

The only thing is GPS. You can flash a nexus modem but you will at some point lose connection and can't get data or phonecalls and it eventually will reconnect. Or you can keep your optimus g modem but you won't have satellite GPS lock.

In that case I've yet to hit the "some point." However, I've been running the CM10.1 rom for the conversion with the custom faux kernel in an entirely LTE area, and have gone without a single dropped call, random reboot, lost gps, or anything for multiple weeks now (2 or 3 I think?). I'm normally a flashaholic, but this is more of a daily driver for me than snowjb was (with the random reboots).
I think T mobile are doing what they did with the G2X. The g2X is the cousin of the Optimus 2X. Only different was the partition layout. It seems on this one they are doing a complete overhaul, with the LGOG.

Same here. GPS works fine for me on the Nexus 4 conversion, using dvhexer's ROM.
On topic: The specs are amazing, but that SoC will probably set your hand on fire while playing intensive games. This phone is great, it's a shame to see it being pushed away so quick.

I'm in love!!!

Can't say that I love to many things aside from family, my girl, and my corvette..... Today I got my Zu and I can add it to the list. This phablet is phenomenal. There really isn't a better word to describe it. I've had all the best phones ever made and this one puts all of them to shame. Sure the camera and speaker aren't anything special but this screen and smooth performance helps you forgive that very quickly. Anyone on the fence about getting one get off that fence and scoop one up. You won't regret it.

It's indeed amazing :good:
Yeah, I usually take my Nexus 4 to work with me, since I'm too busy to actually use my phone at work and so it would be pointless to carry around the XZU, so I frequently have 3-4 day stretches in which I don't use the XZU. Whenever I switch back for school or off days, it's kind of like turning it on for the first time again. The change is so nice.

Congrats. I plan on getting the Z Ultra later this month along with the Sony power case. It'll be replacing my ancient Xperia x10a, and while it will be monsterous in my shirt pocket, it will be glorious to use.
I'll also be picking up a new VAIO Flip 13" model to replace my old Sony Tablet S. Between that and the Z Ultra, my mobile experience should be amazing!
The Z1 got the "Smartphone of the year" award and the Tablet Z got "Tablet of the year" award in Norway yesterday, so Sony is doing something right!

After using it for 3 days, i can say that i have my money well spent.
Pros:
1. Dat screeeeeenn..
2. Wifi range is superb, can go to second floor (where the wifi is on the first) whereas with my previous devices they can't detect it.
3. With its large body, surprising that it still fits into my chest pocket
4. Battery Life is good, even though not as strong as my previous razr maxx but that is expected
5. Can't wait to take a break with KitKat!
Cons:
1. Camera overprocessing.
2. No easy root method for now.. but i have migrated from Titanium Backup into Helium app so no biggie.. Only no mod for me now
O yeah i have some tips for battery life:
1. Don't install google aosp camera with gallery. It will take media scanning twice and preventing Stamina Mode to work
2. Turn off Google+ auto backup, or only allow it to upload while charging
3. Better to full drain the phone once and then charge it while it's off. But after that, please trickle charge it before it reach 50%
4. Don't use the phone while charging. Better to disconnect and then continue after you're done.

This phone is amazing. Just like many of you, I have used a lot of flagship androids - but this baby is special. Phenomenal display, smooth performance, no more messing around with pinch zoom and much less scrolling. Camera could have been better, but you'll get over it in no time. I'll eat my pride and share my darkest secret - I don't finally miss my 'buttery smooth' iphone 3G from 2008

It's not as bad as you think but it is better to not do so. Because if you use it while charging, the high temperature will degrade battery faster. So unless you know that your usage is low and not heavy, better to disconnect it and charge again after the device is cool again.

BatteryUniversity says so. It's like running while eating, or fueling your car while you're racing. Not applicable for jet fighter unfortunately lol but you got the idea.. but to some extent, i agree that light usage will not cause harm into your battery (much).

He asked if it's BAD to use the phone when it's charging, and let's be honest, it's not like you'll kill your battery within a week if you do it. Are you playing Vice City for 5 hours while charging? THAT might be bad in the long run. Checking the weather and FB a couple of times every hour? Not gonna matter.

Actually, there is a simple fix to improve and increase speaker volume.
I use the XZ1 Volume boost, it works wonders.
- Increased internal - external speaker
- Increased headphone volume
- Increased volume call speaker

Ps. You need to be rooted. Simply use CWM to flash the mod. Simple.

Moving to another device?which one doesn't over heat?

Hey xda members!
I have been a long time android user and had quite a few devices : htc leo(android), htc desire, htc desire z,galaxy s 2.
I decided after the s2 to take a hop and go to iphone 5.it works, but i am not crazy about it.always a function seems to be missing and itunes is a major pain.
So i decide i should sell the i5 and get back on the android horse.
Problem is, all current android flagship devices overheat like mad.
i have used gs4,htc one, htc g pro, xperia z1 on stores and from friends and with just 30 minutes of normal usage they go up to 40+ degrees (celsius) for no good reason.heat is incredibly bad for mobile devices and causes all sorts of damage.
So my question is :
Is there an android flagship atm that doesn't overheat like that?
(preferably not sony, using a TFT screen on year 2013 is plain ridiculous, even Z1 triluminos sucks)

It cools down on GB though. My wife once had an "arc"(think it was sony) and that just about burn her hand.Shes away to get an s4 so I hope that dont overheat like your one.
They must be sticking in cheap components in high end phones now to try to stay competitive.
I think 3310,3330 r cool like fack

anyone have the ZTE Grand X Max +

I getting the ZTE Grand X Max + today in the mail to replace my samsung mega 6.3 phone that I cant stand cause I cant aswner phone calls. I decided to use crcket wireless cause I need to save money on my phone bill and 35 dollars a month is the best deal I found that gives me 2.5 gb of high speed data. but anyways. I not sure about the purchase. since there is no root for it so I cant have a custom experience with it.
WHAT ARE YOUR LIKES AND YOUR DISLIKES.
WHY I BOUGHT
SCREEN SIZE
PRICE
battery
why im unsure of purchase
low speaker volume
no root working as of yet.
Do you enjoy the phone as it is. or do you wish you went with a different phone
My wife has had hers for a month, I've had mine 2 weeks. The battery is awesome, mine goes through a 6 am to 10 pm day of use (a few videos, injustice/immortals gameplay, web browsing, phone, text) and still has an average of 20% by bedtime. The no root issue is a slight hindrance because the phone does not have apps to SD compatibility. The low speaker volume is only a big problem if your phone is your alarm, but for most daily tasks it is OK (I usually have Bluetooth connected anyway). Very few multitasking hiccups so far. Overall all though, for $200, I'm satisfied with the phone.

I have some issues wit some apps crashing on this phone. maps navigation crashes when trying to do a walking navagation. I believe that custom roms could fix these issues
if that much is happening a custom rom may help, but it REALY sounds like Zte/Google needs to issue a bug fix for the rom

for a 200 dollar priced phone. I don't see updates anytime soon from zte. Although they are trying to make a name for them selves here in america I just don't think its gonna happen. kinda get what you pay for. I hope I am wrong and I hope someone cracks the code to get root and custom firmware in the future. I set up my phone the way i like it. so far im happy and nothing I use that causes apps to crash alot are minimal. but I noticed apps crashing more on this device then i see on other phones in the past.
Right now I gonna say I am 75% happy 25%unhappy with the purchase
well on the z787 same phone less ram lower spec camera it didnt have the bugs so we will see
Only app I have that seems to not like my z987 is google keep, force closes every time. I use fb lite and never used fb messenger

Even if ZTE did setup an update, Cricket wouldn't push them unless they were critical. Cricket wants people to replace their phones, they don't like customers that keep the same phone for years.
Its how they keep "operational costs" down.

but if you directly approach zte support they could give you a direct link to a update if they wanted, and Zte is trying to make a name for themselves, so providing ZERO support for their phones would make them look realy bad

my issue HAS to be a Facebook Messengers fault, because when i install it no other 3rd party software that uses the microphone works untill you un-install Messenger and reboot
