Actually, the s5 has built in support for themes that (for some reason) was removed from the final version. Try this (if your rooted)...
Download the attachment below.
Put the apk in system/app folder using a file manager and reboot
Using a third party launcher, create a shortcut (normally longpress/shortcuts/activities) to the thememanagerlist activity and click!
Im working on trying to modify the launcher to include an option to launch the theme manager from the launcher settings. Unsuccessful so far though.
EDIT: you can download tons of themes that work with it by searching the note3 and s4 forums.

You forgot the attachment. I usually never ask this, but do you have a link to the themes? I can't seem to tell which ones work with this.

Oops sorry, here ya go https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxVhzq-d-t3fMGxaRWZZbFBMME0/edit?usp=sharing
Just search around for touchwiz themes, they are installed like normal apks. There are thread directories on the note 3 and s4 forums.

Thanks tp for the instructions. I was looking around for this to use on my stock rom, but wasn't sure how to do this. What third party launcher do you recommend? Would Nova work? Also, I am not clear on when you said to create a shortcut (normally long press/shortcuts/activities) to the theme managerlist activity? Can you please explain?
Also, do you have a stock kernel in a flashable zip format available? Please share if you do. I want to try some kernels for the T-Mobile variant, but want to revert back to stock in case I didn't like it.
As always, thanks for all your help! Great job with the Infinity rom btw, :good:

Thanks! btw, the themes app is in the rom if you are using project infinity. I just havent created a link to it in settings yet. I use Nova launcher, long press on the desktop and then select shortcuts/activities and then scroll down until you see theme manager, expand it and select the only activity that appears. It will create a shortcut on the desktop. Just click the shortcut to access the theme settings. In a future build of PI this will be built in.

[MOD]Change lockscreen background FreeX10 B4 (Morph)

This is tested on FreeX10 Beta 4. Make a backup if you want to test on another ROM. Please post if it works and what ROM you are on.
I stumbled upon this way to have a custom lockscreen background in the N1 forums and wanted to port it over to the X10... So I PMed rori~ (the original developer from the N1 thread) and asked him to help me port this to the X10... but he ended up doing the porting completely.
THIS .ZIP IS FOR METAMORPH - NOT RECOVERY
This morph allows for a separate wallpaper to be used on the lockscreen (like miui).
This morph replaces the original default_wallpaper.jpg in the framework-res.apk and mods the keyguard_screen_tab_unlock.xml in the framework-res.apk to use the default_wallpaper.jpg.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Make a nandroid backup because this alters the framework-res.apk.
1b. Make sure you have a backup of your wallpaper because this will most likely change it, so you will have to reapply your original wallpaper.
2. Install metamorph if you haven't already.
3. Create a folder on the root of the sd card called AndroidThemes.
4. Place CustomLockscreenX10_Morph.zip in this folder.
5. In metamorph click "Unzip/Extract New Theme" pick this .zip.
Now in the AndroidThemes folder is a folder called CustomLockscreenX10_Morph. In there use a file explorer to navigate to framework-res/res/drawable-hdpi and drawable-hdpi-v4. Replace the image in those folders with any .jpg with a resolution of 480x854 of your choice. (Some themes use the hdpi-v4 layout so I included that too)
6. Go back to metamorph and click "Apply All".
The phone may reboot, this is fine.
If the lockscreen wallpaper is not the file you chose reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache (first reboot after this will take a long time while the cache is rebuilt).
IF YOU WISH TO THANK ANYBODY PLEASE THANK rori~ IN THIS THREAD!
rori~ made this possible, I just made the metamorph .zip work with our phone.
*screenshot of lockscreen is the current default_wallpaper.jpg in this .zip*
*second screenshot is just to show the home screen wallpaper is different*

Some people would like to have this option.
It is an option available in Miui and some HTC phones, but I personally don't like Miui much, and some others don't but may like this MOD.
It's just to give people an extra option in customization.
Is it possible to customize the lockscreen in which way?
Widget locker app allows you to fully customize your lock screen changing wallpaper, sliders and adding widgets its paid app
Nice find of you don't want the app though

Yeah, I know about widget locker, I wanted this option without using an app, I wanted it integrated into the OS.
Thanks for the info though.
hmm, I've already been doing this for a couple weeks now through Theme manager, but it may be a custom option because I am running MiUI 2.3? Cool, though, this works for all other ROMs?

As far as I know Miui has this option, but most Android ROM's don't.
It should work with any 2.2 ROM based off of z's Beta 4 (as long as the framework isn't too different).
It would probably work with most 2.2 X10 ROMs.
cool, thanks been testing/running Miui for alittle while now so I kinda forgot if it was an option for other Roms. Well Im glad this is now possible, as I do like changing my lockscreen image! Thanks
Not working with MetaMorph, unfortunately .
However I just decomplied the framework-res.apk and did it manually . Kudos to you for the xml file .

facepalm bro. Dude, TripNMiui has a custom thing that does not require you to use metamorph if you want a custom lockscreen... look under your wallpaper .
Menu > Wallpaper > Lockscreen Wallpaper .
Good luck .

but wht abt the size of the text / location of text on lock screen? can that be changed too? that would be useful...

Thats some sweet stuff.
I like it but might I reccommend instead of doing all Grey style for the dock icons. Maybe do a Blue and Grey/black like they did for the Market apk icon. I feel like that would fit the Trigger Rom theme alot more. Its all Black/Grey with a Blue off-set.
Just an opinion. Like the idea though.
I'd do it but I cant seem to find the dock icon's .png in the zip file to do it myself for some freaking reason.
I dont know if im crazy or what haha
That sounds really cool but i plan to do an entire black theme for trigger so this is just one part.
Each apk I included in system/app contains an ic_something png which is the icon for the application.
All you do is extract the apk search the res folder for ic_ then locate the image and theme it whatever color you want.

Big thanks!
I thought I looked through there. I'll look again, I obviously missed it haha.
after changing it, how do we place back into .apk format?
Thanks dude always wondered this haha
Theres a long way and an easy way.
Long way apkmanager
Easy way open the apk in winrar.
Drag the res folder out.
Make edits.
Drag the res folder back into the apk still open in winrar.
Click ok.
Close winrar.
As long as you leave everything the way you left it before you started, it should work.

Are the widgets working in this version? didn't see anything about it in the Op. Being 2.2 would that version work on NextGen? I don't mind the theming
It should work. I can make a nextgen specific flashable if people want. maybe after I finish v2...
actually that would be awesome, just so the theming matched. If EDT or TW release any patches to fix the widgets we'd be able to flash over this right? Might as well. NopCodex may be a while yet putting out the TW version
works fine on NextGen, this is strange though, when setting the default home screen the numbers are one off, like if you want page four to be your home screen you have to tell it 3 you set it to 4 and hit home it goes to 5, weird. and it shows program monitor in the widget picker (which is effing BA!!)but when you pick it it says problem loading widget. ****ing tease lol
So on the original kb5 rom thread the widgets are working now.

HD Stock ICS Icons, swappable for the TW icons in Apex

For the avoidance of doubt, this is not my work. I stumbled upon this icon pack on the internet but thought that I'd share it because others could find it useful as well.
They come in different resolutions and are a good alternative to get closer to the pure ICS look without flashing a theme. To apply, long-press whatever Icon you want to change on your homescreen and select edit. Now I don't know if other launchers let's you do this but it's easy as pie on Apex.
See attachment for download. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do. ***** NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP ***** ZIP FILE CONTAINS PNG IMAGE FILES *****

Yes, you need an ICS rom to use Apex Launcher. Just in case you are trying to flash this zip file, it is NOT flashable. Just a zip of ISC png icons.
Also, NO...Apex Launcher is not "weird". It is actually not that different than Trebuchet.

[theme][cm9][communiteam] Windows 8 metro ui [9/15]

Note: I am not responsible for any damage to your tablet or well being, or losing your precious cat photos from the net.
This is presented to you by communiteam (website is in development) and me, evodev
This is a theme for chrmhoffmann's CM9 rom. I based it on 0.5.3, but it should work on any version. it makes you tabet look and feel more like the Win 8 Metro UI.
to install:
flash the included zip
download desktop visualizer from the play store
download a file manager, I prefer ES Explorer
download and extract the MetroUItiles.zip to an easy to navigate place on the SD card
download ADW launcher, and copy adw_ex_settings from the MetroUITiles folder to the root of your sdcard
go into ADW launcher and click restore settings
open up desktop visualizer and use these settings for best effect:
ouch Effect : None
Default Vibration : On
Text Colour : Doesn’t matter as you shall be deleting the text for each tile
Background Colour : Transparent
Widget Usage : Deselected all apart from 4x4 as this is the only one you shall be using
Next place a 4x4 desktop visualizer widget on your homescreen
click on it, and when it says select image click it, open your file manager to your metrouitiles folder, and click on categories for a category, or the size you want for a specific app, and select it
under app to open select none for categories, or corresponding app to open for the others.
keep doing this and moving around the widgets into a way you like it

Ive already been doing a lot of work on my Evo, learning rom development, and most of my work and learning isnt on XDA. but ive been thinking of switching over to the nook tablet as my main dev device, and this will get me started. Ill start with adding this into a rom, then porting over sense if I can.

Are you talking about the one above, or the one I emailed you? The one I emailed you is V1. I did it as a two step process. If it flashes fine, then I can move onto step two and finish the port for you Nexus 7. If not I need to start all over again. Also the flashable is only a small part of the theme, the main thing is the widgets you want to setup following either the guide in this post, or brobots website. Just replace the flashable zip with the one for your device.

Difference between Themer and Buzz laucher?

I have been running Buzz laucher for some time now and just recently got a beta code to use Themer. My question would be what are the differences? So far I feel they are quite similar with the exception of Buzz having more features because it has been around longer.
Thoughts?
I dunno but if you wanna give up that code, let me know! I'll take it!

One major difference that I found out was that Buzz launcher consumes over 100MB Memory(without any widget) and Themer takes about 40-50MB even on high end theme ...
Also even in Beta stage Themer is much smoother than Buzz (transition animations).
So I guess Themer has better memory management .
Also Themer will have more Quality and Detailed Theme Gallery than Buzz (Because there are many Themers who have their themes on MyColorScreen also unlike Buzz the Theme is validated before it gets published in the Themer themes Browser)...
u dont need to download any external app like UCCW/zooper etc etc
At a first glance, I asked myself the same question... they are very similar in form and function... But I was looking for the 'widget everything' option and looks promising.
I have a question. I've modified a theme I'm using now, if I switch to another theme then go back will the original theme I modified will it be the way I left it?

Export your current theme before changing to other theme. You can get it back at Themer > My Themes > Exported.
Differences are:
1) Our themes are 100% curated. Only the best get in.
2) Themer is true one-click. User doesn't have to do anything to make the theme look just the way the designer intended.

^^ This - 1 click is literally all it takes. No further setting up of widgets is required, unless of course you want to edit the theme.
Also, with the simplicity of themer, I strongly believe that it will gain a massive community behind it once it's generally released. Plus, there's a dedicated forum on our favourite mobile development site too
What's not to like!

I see the benefits. I guess there are a few features I miss over buzz that I would like to see added.
1) Infinite scrolling of both home screens and app drawer
2) scroll transitions (more fun than fictional)
3) a less intrusive menu button capture
I also think it would be great to have an option to retain the AOSP like play store icon in the top corner of the app drawer.
Edit: One more thing I would like to see is the ability to use the theme based icons as folders or standalone app icons via the long press>edit option
Until Themer can handle my Nexus 4 in full screen mode I will be using Buzz for my themes (although I recognize that Themer has better themes etc etc).
