[Q] Changing the "Power On" Screen - Themer General Discussion

Hi! I love the look of several of the themes with this program, as well as the functionality. However, I can't seem to see any setting to change your primary screen (the screen that comes up when you wake your phone... you know, the slide-lock screen, etc.). Do the themes come with such screens? I would like for the wake up screen to look like my main desktop screen. Thanks!

Does anyone else want a lockscreen for their Archos?

Hey all. I always wondered why Archos didn't make a lockscreen (like most android phones have). I always liked to have some widgets and info on my old iPhone lockscreen so I could see basic info without having to unlock the device.
Has anyone come across a way to add a lockscreen to Gen8 devices? An option to turn on/off the lockscreen would be a nice addition by Archos.
I had used this basic method to lock my screen.
Settings --> Location & security --> Change screen lock
You can use Pattern or PIN to unlock screen.
If you need Slide to unlock, you can search "Unlock Screen" for apps in market.
jakkrith's method is great. or you could purchase widget locker from the Market:

Force Closes on A70S.
I think what Techngro means is a lockscreen which also shows some useful information like calendar, todo list, etc..without a need to unlock it.

I installed widgetlocker, but I got a problem now.
When I try to put out my screen (by pressing the power button)
The screen will turn black, as it has to, but then the slide bar will return.
I have to push the power button again to let the screen stay black.
Is there a setting I set wrong? Or is there a way to let the screen turn black and stay out at once? (until I push a button ofc)

Some folks have reported sleep issues with widget locker. you should check out the thread on XDA for possible solutions. i believe there is setting in WL to prevent it from coming back on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732986
I looked there, but couldn't really find it in the 680 comments.
Used the search function, but I don't think I use the right words..
Can you tell me where to look, or what words to look for?

Yes, that is what I was thinking about. I'll take a look at widget locker though.

Questions after using G Tab for 2 weeks, password, multi-tasking, icon spacing, and

I've had the G-tab for two weeks and always use something for a while before I ask questions. It looks like at least one of the questions, icon spacing is answered elsewhere but since I am going to as a few questions I'll still include it here.
I'm using TNT-L 4.4 but guessing most of these are universal to Android.
1. The G-tab does lock after a while and I just slide the lock up and it unlocks but is there a place to tell it you want a password. Also when it boots up I'd like a password on it.
2. I know it does multi-tasking but when I am in certain apps, browser and others, I have to either back out of it, or hit the home and when I go back the app starts over again. I thought you could just slide from screen to screen.
3. On the home screen when I put icons on the home screen only four across and and three high. Should be able to get at least 6 or 7 wide and 4 or 5 high. What's up with that?? Can you set icon spacing on the home screen?
4. A lot of devices you can have information displayed when it is locked like your name/phone number in case it is lost/found they know who's it is. Anything to do that?
5. I've seen a number of posts about screen protectors and most are related to fingerprints. I'm mostly wanting to get rid of glare. What is the best Anti-glare screen protector?
6. Where can I get free chocolate? Always a good question.
Thanks.
p.s. This is a great resource!

TNT-L is based off the stock ROM, I do not believe setting a lock-screen code is available. Other ROMs may/may not offer this choice. CM7 and those built from the CM7 base do.
2. I know it does multi-tasking but when I am in certain apps, browser and others, I have to either back out of it, or hit the home and when I go back the app starts over again. I thought you could just slide from screen to screen.

No, no sliding from screen to screen as apps are designed to be inclusive to their own layout. Hold HOME to switch between apps. Don't press it, hold it....a screen will pop up with the last few used apps. Selecting it will take you right back to where you were in the app.
3. On the home screen when I put icons on the home screen only four across and and three high. Should be able to get at least 6 or 7 wide and 4 or 5 high. What's up with that?? Can you set icon spacing on the home screen?

Not with the stock one. Launcher Pro, ADWLauncher, VTLLauncher will allow you to increase the columns and rows. I use an 8x8 grid that fits nicely without chopping off the text of the icons.

Yes, though off the top of my head I don't recall. Plenty of app/widgets that will overlay/use on top of the lockscreen.

This ought to be in the "Android Navigation 101" thread...it has been driving me nuts trying to figure it out. Thank you...
Regarding screen lock in TNT
I'm not sure if this will work in 4.4. I switched to Vegan a while back to get EAP functionality, so I haven't had to check. However, I did figure out how to do this a while back on TNTLite 5. It requires Launcher Pro (or a launcher with similar functionality).

Next question for a simp
What is the easiest way to get into the Sound applet without having to navigate through the settings menu? The volume control only brings up the Media Playing volume levels, and I'd like to be able to get into the Master and Notifications volumes quickly as well.
EDIT: set up a custom shortcut which gets to the general Sound Settings, but would still like a way to get directly to the volume applet.
It works in TNTL 4.4.0.
I just followed the instruction and was amazed.
Thank you!

Disable UI 3d carousel?

Is there a way to disable the home screen carousel?
When you have the flyer in landscape mod the two sides are squished in so your homes screen is smashed down to only a few widgets.

I would like to know the same thing. I dont care for the animations.
The problem I have is that I'll want to just advance on screen, but I'll fling to vigorously, and the home screens will spin out of control, requiring me to play a game of roulette where if I land on the screen I want, I get to use it... Or something. What were you thinking, HTC? The spinning isn't a useful feature.
Your best bet is to just use ADW or Launcher Pro.
I've been using Launcher Pro since about 15 mins into owning the device. It's excellent, and makes much better use of widget real-estate. Jack the columns and rows up in the preferences, and you get to create very dense homescreens.
Also, with the separate tap, and swipe gestures for the dock icons, there are enough slots to add basically all the apps you use regularly.
The only downside I can see is that I can't seem to reconfigure the apps on the lock screen when I'm running Launcher Pro. I guess I have to switch back to the HTC launcher temporarily to do that.
Great tablet made better with this launcher.
User error...

There's a remedy to this problem... "move" the screen, don't flick it.
Can't blame HTC on this one... I'd have to chalk this up to user error... Some people may like desktop roulette.
Before I switched to ADW, I think you could stop the spinning by tapping on the screen you wanted... Oh well.

Well yeah the remedy is to adjust how I manipulate the device but my feeling is still that there isn't a use case for spinning the screens around. It's less usable because of it.

[Q] Screen size issue

Running themer on my stock G2. I really like it but have an issue when often upon waking up the phone, the icons are shifted down and off the screen a bit. This ususally corrects itself after a while. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Sorry for the links not working, apparently I haven't posted on the forums enough. Thanks.

Yes, I'm running nthe most current version. This issue happens on more than one theme, not just this one.

Is the issue just with Icons or does it happen to the widgets as well?
Do the themes you use have the status bar locked in place, or is it hidden until you slide down to display it?
I have yet to see this on any of our test phones.

It happens with the status bar shown or auto hidden. I've attached a couple of more photos of similar issues using other themes. In the one with the white back ground, check out the clock hands. It seems that it may be related to wake up? After I unlock and my home screen appears, the home buttons kind of slide up from the bottom. You can actually see the screen sort of adjust after the home buttons slide up. Sorry again for the links not working directly from the message. The forum won't let me post links just yet since I haven't made enough posts.

Ahhhh... those shots were helpful, but you mentioning the fact that the bar slides up from the bottom is really interesting and may just be the cause of this issue. We unfortunately do not have a G2 in the office to test this on.
Here is what I am thinking. If I run my N5 with a Paranoid Android Rom, or any other that allows me to remove the software navigation keys and replace it with the ring navigation, the aspect of the screen;s drawable area changes as far as Themer is concerned. In essence it makes my N5 a GS4 or HTC1 to Themer.
What I think may be happening on your device is very similar. I believe when you unlock the phone the aspect ratio of the draw-able area on the screen, may be reporting back to themer as larger than it really is, then the software keys finally slide into place and Themer takes a few seconds to realize the it.
Ill bring this to the attention of our Devs and see what they think.

Just a little more information. I think what you describe happening is correct. I was playing around with "Blades" set as my theme. After I unlock (pattern) the home buttons slide up and you can sort of see the main background adjust to the new screen size. It just looks like the widget parts don't adjust. If I long press and then change the default home screen to 1 and apply, it reloads the theme and everything looks OK and everything is in place.
I also noticed, if I sleep the phone with an app open, like the browser, it wakes to that app. The home buttons still slide up upon waking but when I return to my homescreen everything looks to be in place.
I hope this helps you guys troubleshoot. Other than this small issue, I love themer! Thanks! Let me know if there is any other information I can provide to help you sort this out.

Same issue on LG 4x HD... i hope the devs solve this problem, cuz it's really great app, a way better than buzz launcher. Keep the good work guys. Issue seems to be like some incorrect columns vs. rows settings or maybe just the resolution 1280x720is not supported ?

For all of you still having issues with the LG device.
We have a work around for you.
This is NOT a fix from our end ... yet, but it will resolve the issue on your device.
The fix is pretty simple, you have two choice.
One, turn off your lockscreen on your device.
If this is not an option for you due to security concerns, then you can simply install an alternate lockscreen app from the market.
The LG lockscreen on these devices is the culprit, disabling/replacing it will fix this issue.

Floating Dock similar to Huawei/IPhone

Hi all,
Any ideas where I can find a floating dock for Nokia 8? My primary purpose is to be able to avoid using the button on the side to turn the screen off/lock the device. There are several available on the Play Store however they do not offer the ability to turn the screen off individually. I have to enter the pin when I wake up the device?
Alternatively, any gesture app would work too...I coud doube tap anywhere on the homescreen to turn the screen off!
Thanks!

You can use Microsoft Launcher and set home button as turn off screen.
If you don't mind widgets, Screen Lock by Prahallad works. No problem with fingerprint/PIN (have to enable support in settings). Doesn't fully lock immediately; screen blanks then in few seconds device enters actual locked state.

yeah well, then again, its a whole launcher....I like my pixel launcher as is....just need a small app for the dock...not looking to install an entire launcher for that purpose. But thanks man!
P.s. I did install it and check it out....however, it locks the device rather than turns the screen off....so back to square one
