Ive noticed serious battery drain since I first bought this fascinate from telus. On 2.1it lasted around 11 hours. Since upgrading to 2.2 leak, id say 8 hoirs max with only approx 1 hour of uusage and the rest on standby. I turned of sync, auto brightnrss and turned brightndss as.low as possible. I make sure no apps r running in the background. Yet it still dies superfast. Is this a issue with my battery thr phone itself or firmware or kernal. Its been a week of trying to find the problem so any help would b greatly appreciated. At tgis time im running 2.2 leak with all the files it came with and no root. Thx in advNce

I update OTA last week on Verizon to Froyo 2.2. My battery was overheating and draining like crazy from my CPU usage being at a constant 99%..
I found the source of the problem. An app I use for facebook called "FLOW". The CPU usage was cut to 20% when I killed it with "Advanced Task Killer".
I resolved the issue by: Opening Flow.. going to Preferences.. Notification Settings.. Refresh Type.. Checked Periodic Polling (I was using Gmail Experimental previously)

sounds about average for a fascinate....
I'm on telus as well and also have terrible battery life, I've found no fix other than completely turning off Data using the toggle when holding the power button. Flashing a new rom might fix this but I've been to scared to since I bricked a phone trying it the first time. Hopefully when/if ever we get a 2.3 update it fixes this
Does anyone know where one can get an extended battery for this? I picked one up but it's for the friggin Verizon US version, and the battery cover isn't compatible, even though the battery fits(camera doesn't align, speaker's not even close).
Seriously, the American counterpart's accessories have been my biggest frustration with this phone, next to battery life...
Thought I'd give this a bump. The battery life on this Telus Fascinate 4G is truly disappointing and jumping through hoops trying to find and kill apps and services with and without utilities is wasting far too much of my time.
Anybody get a good handle on this?

Running unmodified and unrooted. The phone itself works perfect. No problems other than the phone seriously eats battery. Yes the battery is still good and nothing wrong with it. Plugged in it charges super slowly. And the screen itself takes more than it provides. So i did the following.
A. Changed battery to a known working one.
B. Check with car charger and a home charger. As well as official samsung charger.
C. Gave a ROM a try. Running Dirty Unicorn. Lowered cpu to 800 max and 100 min.
D. Turned display to 50% Brightness.
My only try now is to try a different kernel or something. Im also thinking that the display itself is the culprit somehow eating to much voltage.
Or the gpu. The phones operating temps are good.

So i am taking upon myself to learn more. Ive worked with 3 Droid Milestones. Hopefully these two i500s will not be to hard. I need help on this new i500 to see if its not the motherboard. The charging port is on the motherboard and if this replacement eats batteries , then the point would be mute to use it for a working USB. A conundrum.
Do i try a different kernel or somthing else. Whats my next step.. Please help.

what else do you have running?
what is the battery life overall usage? and screen usage hours?
screen is always gonna be the highest consumer of your battery
50% still pretty high unless you are out in sunlight, I keep mine between 0 and 30 % unless in sunlight
you can try running the greenify app from playstore.
what king of life are you expecting to get? anywhere between 6hrs to 24 hours total phone battery life is about average depending on how heavy user or how much in standby mode.

I had installed the program and it didn't really show anything abnormal. Although after installing the Bat Meter, when i shutdown it killed the phone till i ODIN. So tried on the other phone as well. Same thing. Install it and compared notes. Reboot phone and had to ODIN. So maybe bad app? Well whatever. I didn't see anything unusual. Although I did notice something strange about the phone that's bad with charging. I already eliminated the battery as the problem as well as charger. But the phone that is eating battery faster than it can charge, it gets warmer at idle than the other phone. It charged just super super tiny faster than the battery eats using just idle display on lock-screen. As well this phone also with a fully charged battery will read 100% But after about 21 minutes of poweramp at 33% volume on headphones will read about 52%. Then sitting rest at idle no display from 52% down to about 14% popup around another 5 min. Then completely dead in about 3 minutes. And the phone is pretty warm. Today it was ambient temp of around 87* outside and sitting in shade and it was hot enough that it wasn't comfortable on my cheek for more than 20 seconds. Half the time the temps are normal. Now remember I'm not running overclock and actually under clocked to 800. Ive tried 3 different roms with diff kernels and same. Could it possibly be a bad heat-sink? And the extra heat is killing battery?
[Q] Battery Drain
I recently was given a Fascinate and am having similar problems. I was told the phone had a bad battery, so I ordered a replacement. Once I got the new battery in, I flashed the phone with the Carbon ROM [the phone was unlocked, but running the OTA 2.3.5 I believe]. Everything seemed to be working fine the first week or two, but now there appears to be a serious battery drain or leak after I power the phone down. I can charge the phone to 100%, power it on and use it for a period of time, then power it down with 90% or more battery life, but when I turn the phone back on, the battery will either be really low, or completely dead, where the phone won't respond at all until I plug the charger back in.
I reflashed the phone with an AOKP ROM to see if that'd make a difference, but it didn't. I tried using the first battery and the drain/leak still persists. The commonality between the two roms is the Devil kernel, so I'm going to flash a different ROM with a different kernel to see if that makes a difference. I also installed the app mentioned above to log the battery stats/usage to see if anything stands out there.
Has anyone experienced something similiar - the Fascinate consuming battery life while powered off?
Yeah the power off leak does seem to exist.
Can't remember the cause though.
I've not tried to really confirm,, but try popping the battery out then back in after you have powered off,,, then check after it has sat overnight to see if drain still exist..
Mine i just always leave on a charger overnight.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try that. I've left the phone on today, just put it to sleep during periods of inactivity, and the battery is currently at 75% with occasional mild use after 8+ hours "on".

After almost two weeks of use, I can confirm that if I power the phone down and do nothing else, the battery will continue to drain to 0%. If I power the phone down then remove and replace the battery, it's fine. It's an extra step, but it works. Thanks again.

In my case, after updating to new firmware and software my battery full capacity indicator has become sort of crazy (for the worst).
Before updating I got a solid 1390 mAh always. Now It depends on the day, but It never surpases the 1270 mAh. Barrier.
Today I´m getting a poor 1170 mAh.
Strange thing.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

From my review, my battery seems to be getting better now, first week after the update, battery was dreadful, it seems to be a whole lot better now. Give it a week, if it continues, email Nokia support, since you hopefully have your warranty, they'll check and replace it if it's faulty, I'm suffering from some horrible notification bug, that's worse, getting your notification when you enter message/whatsapp...-_-
Have same problem. The last update have reduced full charge capacity from 1420 mA to 1303 mA and it's still decreasing every charge. Hope is's soft bug, otherwise nokia should exchange killed batteries phones.
Nokia says not to trust their diagnostics tool when it comes to degrading capacity. The battery should be fine anyway unless it reports less than 1000mAh.
Nokia's biggest mistake was making the Diagnostics available to every user. Now everybody thinks Nokia stole their precious mAh...
Note: It doesn't even matter the update gave us some hours in autonomy.

Today, when I plugged the charger off, the charge percent inmediately went down from 100% to 98%. Maybe there´s some kind of software bug thay doesn´t give the real battery performance.
P.S.: I actually enjoy my phone. Love it.

This happened to me also this morning. Took my phone off charge, unlocked it and then was at 98% but going to keep an eye on it throughout the day. I got roughly 15 hours use yesterday and 5 hours of that was when i was at work.
I am getting terrible battery life after the update. 100 % at last mid night. By the morning it is at 85%. It seems the battery life got worsen by a 40 % decrease before the update.

I get weird battery issue on my latest 800. About every second charge the battery drains very fast doing nothing. The next charge it is fine. Next after that it can drain. And so it goes. Something fishy with software indeed. It was preloaded with 11501 from factory so I have not updated myself.
Nokia need to take a detailed look at this. As it is now they fully think the issue is fixed when in face it is not. As the topic implies it actually made things worse compared to old firmware. Those 15% charge that were lost in old firmware it lasted longer anyway because it had no drain.

I have made a factory reset just for the heck of it. Also I have recently started rebooting my phone with the charger plugged after every charge and then unplug when it is booted again. So far no drain after doing so but too early to make any conclusions.
I reseted the phone on a charge cycle with drain and after the reset the drain stopped. So something weird is going on. Hadn't really installed apps etc... syncing/location etc off...

Unfortunately I do not even have the good days result. After I updated my Lumia to .11500 my battery drains really quick with doing nothing. Before going to sleep I had about 60%, waking up it was empty, in 6 hours! Before I could last about 1.5 days with my phone. Hardly 10 hours with normal use. 3G on but wifi and bt off.
Does anyone know how to change this or to change it back to the earlier version of software?
I love this phone and its OS, but the battery consumption is just wrong!

Same issue with battery drain. Not that frequent though. Two times in two weeks. It´s random I think. Thing is that I´ve noticed that it has occurred when the phone shows maximum than my average battery capacity.
Normally phone shows 1170 mAh when fully charged. Strangely enough I get a very decent battery life. More than 24 hours with normal to heavy use.
But today it showed 1370 mAh fully charged and it´s not passed 12 hour barrier.

Since I made that factory reset the drain has not come back so far. Now I get good battery life and it's usually at 70% when I go to sleep at nights with moderate use throughout the day.
Is this what everyone is doing for best battery or is it just me?
Used to get heavy drain when I get the mobile:
I had to do below:
1) Location services off - i use very low though.
2) Removing people tile
3) Display brightness - LOW
4) Settings->Applications->Games->Connect to Xbox LIVE-> OFF
(with ON, used to drain battery alot atleast for me)
5) Settings->Background tasks->Weather->Off
(not sure of this, but I don't use it so I switched off)
6) Removing XBox Live Tile (In fact all live tiles like App Highlights etc...)
7) Date+time -> Set automatically -> OFFFF (I don't think we need it unless we go to other country)
8) Phone Update -> Turn off notifications
By the way,
I use push email outlook on always

Just restore your backup in Zune. Connect the phone, go to the phone tab. Settings -> updates -> restore. Good luck!

What to do. Now a days all smart phones come with great features and poor battery life.
By the way, anybody knows how to turn off fast dormancy in our lumia 800? I used to get much better battery life by turning off fast dormancy in android phones ( obviously my network is not supporting the feature though)

So you're limiting the phones key features for a battery problem? Why not contact Nokia? I must be honest, if Nokia were to tell me to switch off so many features of my phone, I would tell them to kindly p*** off, as I've had many phones before it that didn't pose a problem like this, if it's a fault, they should act to it, not make you rectify their mistakes. At the end of the day, if you broke your phone accidently, would they fix it for you? So why should you?
I recently ordered two new OEM batteries for my Atrix 4G, equivalent to the battery I was replacing – at least they appear that way. When I installed the new battery, my battery indicator was showing that the phone was at 15% after only a few hours. I charged a couple of times with the same problem occurring, I tried the second battery. When the same thing happened, I decided just to let it die all the way and charge fully after. My battery level hit 1% and stayed that way for hours and hours of use. When I timed the battery life, it was actually very good and it appeared the battery meter was just reading wrong.
I tried several full discharge and recharge cycles and tried disconnecting the battery while the phone was plugged in until the ‘?’ battery appeared and reinstalled it. The same problem occurred again and again. Next, I rooted the phone and tried the battery recalibration app. Results were the same. I have followed this up with discharging and recharging the battery fully several times but the problem still remains.
I have now installed an app that reads the voltage on the battery. It reads ~4200mV when plugged in and fully charged. It will discharge to somewhere between 3200mV and 3300mV before the phone shuts off and it takes upwards of 30 hours for this to happen. This has proved to be a somewhat effective way to actually estimate my remaining battery but it is still driving me nuts that the meter is off. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks for the reply. I installed the app a couple of days ago. I have tried the first option "Run the Fix" a couple of times, once with the battery stating it was at 100% while plugged in and once in the middle of the day while not plugged in. It has not seemed to do anything from what I can tell.
I have not run the second option to Fix battd yet because I had to figure out how to install Busybox, which I have now done. I will try that option tonight and report back.

You should also read about the purpose of the app and how to use it. It is all in the OP of that thread. There is no point in running the fix just whenever you feel like it, it is meant to be run only right after the battery is done charging. Running it any other time will most likely just mess up the stats/percentage even more (not irreversibly though).

I did "run the fix" when my battery was fully charged overnight and rebooted the phone. I used the phone for a couple of days and it did not improve the situation. Last night I charged to 100% again and did the "fix battd" option. Today, there has been no improvement in the meter. I will try charging to 100% again tonight and try the force calibration option with the "run the fix". Is there any other way I should try to run it?
It will always charge right up to 100% and 4200 mV, the problem is the percentage will drop rapidly once unplugged all the way down to 1%. Once it hits 1% it will stay there and I can keep using the phone through the rest of the day and even overnight and into the next day before it actually powers itself down.
Yeah, I've heard of a few other people having the same issue. Sadly the battery fix app isn't going to help in your case - I don't really know what will, I'm not sure if there is a fix. Try searching the forum, this has definitely been mentioned more than once.

BTW I don't think running the leaked ROM as a daily driver is a good idea at all, especially if you only just started using this phone...

Oh ok. I will try it for a couple of days and see. So far, it is amazing. Fast, responsive, very very little lag. Just this battery thing is a little weird. BTW, it did go ahead of 50%...i hope it doesnt fall really fast.
And I have a NeXus 4 as my main phone. My office gives me one phone, hence the Atrix.

I have done some research and have found that this has been a common issue for users of the Droid X. There are two revisions of the BH6X battery, SNN5880A and SNN5893A. Many users of the Droid X purchasing the 5893 revision of the battery report having the exact same problem I am having. They have solved it by using the older 5880 revision. They suspected that the 5893 was made for the Atrix and the 5880 for the Droid.
The problem is, I have the newer 5893 revision on both new batteries which, according to that info, should work for my phone. I do not have my original battery that I was replacing with me at the moment but I can check that model number tomorrow night. I only found one other thread where a person had this issue with the Atrix here. There is no real answer on how to solve or work around the problem though and I am not having any luck finding others with this issue.
Is there any way to adjust the battery meter settings or simply hide the stock meter? I apologize if this is a dumb question.
Problem solved:
I tried the batteries in my girlfriend's Atrix and experienced the same problems. Convinced it was an issue with the battery itself, I contacted Motorola through live chat and explained the situation. After talking about (some of) the various troubleshooting steps I had taken, they told me they would send me a new battery. The battery came and has been working perfectly for the last week with the percentage showing accurately.
The two bad batteries I had were manufactured 04/08/11 and 04/12/11. The new one they sent was manufactured sometime in April 2012. Perhaps a bad batch of batteries was produced by Motorola. That would explain why Droid X owners believed that the battery was incompatible with their phones. The talk that the battery was incompatible started shortly after those batteries were produced (it looks like around August 2011), and mixed in there are reports of the SNN5893A working in the Droid X for some. Hopefully this info is helpful to others.

Hello! I bought this phone last month. Since I got it, I've never experienced any problem with it. For four days, I noticed that the battery drains very quickly, without any logical explanation for this. The data connection is turned off, Wi-Fi is turned off. Last evening, I charge it to 100%. This morning,I found it turned off, with 0% battery. What solutions do you have to solve this problem? Have you encountered this problem?

Hello! I bought this phone last month. Since I got it, I've never experienced any problem with it. For four days, I noticed that the battery drains very quickly, without any logical explanation for this. The data connection is turned off, Wi-Fi is turned off. Last evening, I charge it to 100%. This morning,I found it turned off, with 0% battery. What solutions do you have to solve this problem? Have you encountered this problem?

Can you please provide some more details on this?
I.E. What is it plugged into to charge? Laptop, Desktop, AC, etc etc.
- I ask this because I had a phone that would actually consume more power than a USB port could put out. when turning off the laptop, it actually allowed a back drain for some reason, and the next morning the device was dead. (Not this phone)
Also, what applications are running? Any?
Finally, you can try to retrain your battery... Wiping stats does not work, ever. So despite what anyone tells you, don't do it. You're just wasting time. SOURCE
So, how do you retrain your battery? Let it die completely. Then plug it in to charge. Don't use it while it's charging if you can help it. DO NOT remove it from the charger until it's at 100%. Once this is done, use it til it dies on it's own. Then yet again, charge it fully and then go back to your normal use.
In some cases, these batteries can go bad, for various reasons. A quick test, but is not always trustworthy is to spin your battery on either side. If it makes more than 2 full rotations, it's swelling and going out. Replace it.
The best alternative is to take it to a battery shop, and let them put it on a Cadex machine. (Pronounced Kay-Dex) ... This machine will charge and discharge the battery several times over a few hours and truly test the current life -vs- the life it should be. Anything rated less than 80% remaining life should be replaced.

I charge it only from power outlet, with stock charger.
Trib wrote 5 paragraphs on info you need to provide and you come back with a small sentence? Pretty much if you use your phone a good amount it will only last you a day per charge. Unless you give us an explanation on how fast it is draining it's impossible to even start helping

6 hours 40 minutes from 100% to 10%, and the phone in stand by! Cell standby - 45%, Phone idle - 48%, Screen - 7%
And all this after a hard reset and retrain battery! The battery is almost new (aprox 1 month)!
I want it to make a screen shot of battery drain, but I have no clue how to do that on LG L9...

I hard reset it once again. Now is on charging. After that, I will provide you a screenshot with battery stats. Thank you for your help! I try to borrow an othe battery from an other LG L9 phone to see if is the battery or the phone! I hope to find someone with that kind of phone.

I attached a screenshot. Yesterday I changed the battery. Same problem! I take it this screenshot this morning, after I fully charged the phone ... Same problem, a new battery.
Can you please tell us what applications you have running in the background?
Also deactivate google now.(or the google services in google maps). download and install GSam Battery Monitor and after a cycle tell us what applications are eating your battery the most. It's clear that you either use yout phone(screen on time) allot or there is/are some applications that prevent your phone from going to sleep.
I use battery widget reborn and it shows me wneh the phone woke up,when the phone had the screen on,wi-fi on,gps on. Try it as well.
I also had battery issues when on JB. I downgraded back to ics. It's much more reliable when it comes to battery life. And the performance is about the same.
I don't have any app installed. After i replace the battery, i made a hard reset and I did not installed any app. I will install cpuspy and betterbatterystats for more results. I will back tomorrow. Until than, maybe you can provide me more advices. It can be from a damage sim card?

I guess your signal quality isn't good enough because cell standby is eating up more than 40% of battery. Cell standby in my phone is only around 5%..

I removed the sim card, but in flight mode is the same problem... The last solution is to change the rom with a custom one. Any recomandation?
It's not that. Not the signal. It's the firmware. JB has these problems. In ICS Display is the major consumer followed by Phone Idle and Cell Standby.
I also had these problems in JB and reverted back to ICS .
I would advise you to install CM 10.1 on the phone. The battery life is better than stock. I get around 12-16 hours normally. The latest RC4 has fixed almost all the bugs present in older CM 10.1 variations. Give it a try.
I will root the phone and I will give a try with CM 10.1 or I revert to 4.0.4. If all this will be for nothing, I will sell the phone!

On ICS you will get great battery life Telling from my experience as i have reverted back to ICS after trying JB and CM 10.1( both have very poor battery life ) . So instead of wasting time just flash ICS and forget about battery issue :good:
Where can I find a tutorial to revert to ICS?

I also reverted to ICS and the battery drain keeps like a countdown
I have the p769, and I offline flashed up to V20D (and rooted). Removed some tmobile bloat, and I have pretty decent battery life. I guess I'm lucky.

I have an issue with my Xperia Go. When fully charged it says the estimated standby time is 6 hours... Switching on "Stamina mode" says the same thing, 6 hours : (
It usually lasts much more than 6 hours... more like 24 hours of standby (not great, but much better than 6!).
Here's my current set up and what I've done so far:
- With a brand new Xperia Go, installed ExtremeSecurity Rom, done a full wipe, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik.
- Charged fully to 100%, wiped battery stats, allowed to drain with normal use (mostly standby, not in stamina mode), then fully charged again.
I'm using the supplied, official charger for this and checking battery usage there's nothing unexpected going on (Screen 35%, Android OS 16%, Media Server 16%...) The only non-standard non-system app using power is BeyondPod which isn't downloading, just playing from time to time and it's at 12%.)
I'm really confused and don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?

I guess you did not read the op properly. That thread you mentioned is about battery drain, and that's not the issue here. The battery usage is fine. The problem is the standby estimate.
I´m having the same problem. My Xperia P usually goes a day and a half to use the whole battery with medium/low usage, but my estimate is usually around 9 or 10 hours. I have not tried to delete the battery stats yet, but my phone is charging right now and once it reaches 100% i'll do it and post the results.
Anyway, since it doesn't affect battery life, it's not a major problem

Yeah it's the same with my xgo too, but i think that it's a wrong estimate time... a kind of bug that like u sais doesn't affect the battery life
Deleted battery stats, but no change. Still an estimate of 10h standby.

Yes, i'm using the official firmware. 100% stock, locked bootloader and rooted.

Hmm, so it's probably not the ES ROM. Plus nobody else is reporting this over in the ExtremeSecurity thread (I can't post there yet, less than 10 posts).
I know this issue is (probably) just about the estimate, not the actual battery life, but I can't help but wonder if this affects the actual life too. My phone seems to charge very quickly, like from 0% to 100% in an hour - 90 minutes (is that normal?), and the real standby time is OK, but less than I expected. Without an accurate estimate, it's hard to know what to expect from it!

I believe it doesn't affect battery life at all, because i´m having about the same battery life as when i had ICS, and then there wasn't even an estimate.
The charge time sounds right. My Xperia P usually charges in that time.
