[Q] Unable to Update Recovery - HTC Droid DNA

My phone has an older version of TWRP and I want to update it so that I can update to Viper Sense 6.0 and I can not do so. I believe I need to reinstall adb and fastboot drivers, how would I go about that (where can I find the correct drivers)? I am on Windows 8.1.

This works for me until I go into fastboot, still doesn't recognize my device. Will the Win. 8 drivers for the USB 3.0 thing work since I have 8.1?

Download the newest twrp image to your phone. Then go to the market and download flashify. It's a free app and it will flash the image for you from your phone. Worked perfect for me on my DNA. It's one way to just avoid using a computer to flash an image. Try that and report back.

Try installing PDAnet, it's installed some blanket drivers that have helped me out of recognition issues in the past!

It would, at this time to be prepared for s-off, making sure you have all htc drivers install, sdk tools and the like, have you recovery.img ready to go and your supersu zip in the proper place, don't wait to the last minute to do this, then your ready to go.
I've been working on gathering everything up. I'm unlocked so I need to relock, install update, unlock and get root back yet. I've been holding off cause I hate to give up viper and go back to stock.
Where would one start? I don't know where to get sdk....not to mention how to use it. Do you think you could come up with a list of you have the time? Every phone I've rooted has had unlock tools (unrevoked for og Inc and alpha rev for Inc 2)

go to unlimited.io and you can get latest htc drivers and adb sdk tools too, they have links there. you can get recovery from hasoons tool. we don't have a root tool yet, it's coming.i should say s-off tool
as far as using adb and sdk tools, should be some instruction here somewhere, search the forums for it you should find it.
Thanks boss yeah I know no tool yet

I'd say get a ROM ready, once u get s-off, u can install recovery, then install a ROM.
the superuser root .zip is only needed if you plan to use the stock ROM.
I am so going to have to take my laptop to town to get to Wi-Fi to update Windows so I can root my phone.

Whether I try to use the drivers from unlimited.io or the ones linked by jose51197 in the automatic unlock post I can't get them to install on my computer. I'm running 64-bit Windows 8 Release Preview Version 6.2 (Build 8400). OldNut5 mentioned that it worked for him on 64-bit Windows 8 Pro, so I don't think my operating system is the problem. As soon as the installer starts running, it shows an error message which reads:
Code:
The Driver Installer is not supported for this Operating System!
Has anyone else had this problem? I tried running it as administrator, as well as running it in compatibility mode for both Windows 7 and Windows XP (SP3), but it always produced the same error. Am I missing something obvious, or does this only work on the Pro version of Windows 8 for some reason?

Drivers are designed to work for a specific operating system. I personally haven't been able to get a single driver for any device to work on Windows 8 that was designed for Windows 7. Vista drivers more often than not did work on Windows 7, though. Go figure.
In this thread, someone says they installed the most recent version of HTC Sync on Windows 8 and managed to get the drivers working. Try that.
EDIT: Just tried this on Windows 8 and it worked perfectly.

To be honest I dual-boot my computer and primarily use Ubuntu, but the automatic bootloader unlock guide was written for Windows with a handy zip of executables and a batch script, and I didn't want to have to figure out how to properly install adb on Ubuntu as well as risk messing something up if there happens to be a Linux-only issue.
It's nice to know that it should work on Ubuntu without any need for the drivers. I assume this is how I would have to install adb. It's a shame I can't just "sudo apt-get install adb" it...

[Q] JB Diagnostic mode?

After the JB update, I can't seem to get Diagnostic Mode ##3424# to work. I've tried stock with goodies and OMJ build. Diag port doesn't show up in Windows 7. It does show up in Windows XP but driver doesn't install. Previous ICS worked on both XP and Win7. I've gone back to Stock with goodies ICS to confirm it still works. I'm just hoping ot have it available in JB.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Having the same problem. I can get into diagnostic mode on the phone but in Windows it won't show up as a modem in device manager or show what port (i was trying to manually change prl). Tried reinstalling HTC diagnostic drivers but it says it's not the right drivers for my device. Which is strange since they worked when I was on ics. I guess something changed on the drivers front with jelly bean.

My bet is that only works for windows 7. I've that post with both windows xp 32 bit and windows 8 64 bit and on both it tells me the drivers are not designed for my hardware (or something to that effect).
For now those on either of those OS's might just have to nandroid, flash ICS do their PRL update and then restore their JB nandroid.
Unless anyone else has figured out the proper drivers?

you need to install the drivers first. look at this page for help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769284&highlight=qpst+make+evo+louder . if you are on windows 7 64 bit like me and are having troubles with the guide that was first provided look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28717758&postcount=8 ask me if you have any questions, i went through the same thing so i probally will know the answer. hope this helped.
P.S. the guide I provided was for use with qpst so if you aren't going to be using that only do steps 1,3,4, and 5. also this person probably meant step 3 not 4 when he says this "Browse to the folder containing the drivers your downloaded in step 4" in step 4
try changing to disk drive instead of HTC Sync Manager option in the phones drop down menu. that should install the diag drivers that you have already.

I think i bricked it..

So not sure exactly what happened while running the lastest paranoid build. Okay im going to post the steps and maybe this will be easier for all of us.
1- Flashed Paranoid
2- Flashed crpalmers boot.img in flashgui
3- Phone was good for a solid day, then rebooted.
4- After reboot phone said a lot of the services are force closing and then rebooted into the white htc screen
5- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2131284 and followed it to the T
6- phone is not being recognized in adb
7- went to flash the recovery but its waiting on device even though its in fastboot usb
Maybe im missing a driver or a step I am not sure about but hopefully that helps a bit more than posting little by little.

Fastboot Not Working on OPX

I am trying to flash a custom ROM on my OPX because the MM builds of OOS have been giving me strange bugs which apparently no one else seems to be experiencing.
So when trying to unlock my bootloader, when I enter the "Fastboot Devices" command, nothing happens. My device isn't showing up no matter what.
I have all the prerequisite drivers installed so I don't know what is causing this.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Windows 10. And I read somewhere a fix just can't remember. Something to do with rolling back the driver or uninstalling. I believe its written in the hardbrick guide take a look there.

Don't install Win7 just for that. Find someone who have one.
Or try with a USB booting Linux Distro it will be quicker and easier.
