[Q] Custom Roms - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have just rooted my phone & am now interested in installing a custom ROM.
I have a Neken N6 smartphone
I only know needroms.com to look for roms & it seems the choice for my phone is limited., MIUI V5 being the only ROM I think. Is there another place I can look for ROMS that may give me a bigger selection? I want to try out ROMS like Cmod & Paranoid Android, is this possible?

custom rom or editing official

should i try to flash a custom rom or edit the official wan? i wan my phone to have good speed, eyecandy n good batery life.. i wan to try energy rom but i scared this brick my phone.. would flash a custom rom bricked the phone easily? anyone help pls
I've done both tweak the stock rom and then flashed a custom rom (energy stand 23xxx series) and to be honest i prefer the custom roms over tweaked stock, mainly because i find the energy roms to be more stable, even though i'm using a rom based around winmo 6.5.3.
It's actually not that easy to brick your phone but i would advise you do all the related reading first and i would also suggest you start off by tweaking the stock rom before you flash a custom one. It will give you the opportunity to learn what works and what you like first.
At the end of the day the choice is yours and your fellow users can only make suggestions on the direction you should take
i have been editing stock rom since long ago, n i knw wat i want so i decided to flash an energy rom soon.. thx =)

[Q] P500 ROMs Family Tree

Pardon for the foolish question
So many ROM dedicated for Optimus One, stock, custom, or AOSP, even Custom from AOSP....I can't remember them all.
I presume there must be some connection between them, like ROM A1 is a custom rom from ROM A. ROM B2 is combine from ROM A1 and ROM B....and so on.
Perhaps someone can explain this ROM universe better, by drawing a family tree or something like that, so we can see how those ROMs have resemblance and inheritance with each other.
Just a thought...
The AOSP ROMs are the original ROMs, they are released by google, and our devs make it work for our device... we can't have the perfectly original on our device, they are made for the Google Nexus S, it is the only device that can run AOSP... it is made for it...
Stock ROM is the ROM made by our device's manufacturer to work perfectly on our phone(AOSP only work bug-free without any modification on google devices, nexus one, s and galaxy nexus)
Custom ROMs are the one's modified, UI, apps, etc... eg CyanogenMod, MIUI, Oxygen etc...

[Q] Stock vs custom rom

Just wondering on performance between stock and custom roms. Pros & Cons etc
Generally I run custom roms on my phones (i9000 & I9300) but have stuck with stock on my tablet (P7500 currently ICS).
I don't want to run a custom rom just for the sake of it and if there are issues I would prefer to keep it stock.
anyway thanks in advance to those that can help out here.
Since you are already running custom roms i believe you already know the pros and cons between a stock and a custom rom.
Just have a read in the forums and if you find that there are issues in custom roms for this tablet just don't flash it.
Thanks and thread closed.

[Q] Questions about AOSP roms

I'm looking at some AOSP roms and have a question about a feature in them.... what are ribbons? I've used Carbon for a little while before and didn't touch them, but I mostly use stock roms.
Thanks
I think our stock rom is aosp, or it is not?

Samsung Galaxy Light Custom Roms

Hey guys I have a Galaxy Light and I want to to try out new Roms for the device 4.4 and higher. I've tried the TigerLilly rom along with CM 12 rom which was super buggy and also the lightwave rom. I want something that is close to the stock experience and probably on lollipop because I like the way the material design looks. So can somebody develop a new rom for this device if not already? Also I was wondering if you develop a new rom for it, include swap in the kernel. I was trying to expand the ram using my sd card and it told me swap wasn't enabled.
