[Q] 4.0.4 alarm clock,can it run on 4.4.2? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.
I was hoping someone could help me a bit.
I have gotten a new Sony Xperia Z1 Compact (android 4.4.3), but i HATE the system clock widget/app with the analog hands, and minimalist design,so i installed an apk extractor on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (android 4.0.4) to try and get the system clock app from there as i absolutly love it with its big digital numbers, and exact manual input of desired countdown timer, and apk extracted fine, but when i try and install it on my xperia i get an "app not installed" error after installation actually has happened.
Is this not possible what i am trying to do? Is the clock proprietary to each company the phone is from?
Any insight is greatly appreciated as i have very little knowledge about these phones and android
This is the clock i am hoping to get on my Xperia:

Looks like you are after proprietary .apks, maybe try the clock from aosp or just downloading one from the app store

Well, i havent found one on app store that has 4 different apps in 1 it like this one does, otherwise i wouldnt ask if this would work. So the alarm/clock is NOT a native ice cream sandwich, but a proprietary one? Could you maybe point me in the direction of the clock you are referring to?

Starting around ICS or maybe jb the aosp app became the 4 in 1 as you call it, but manufactures like Samsung Sony etc sometimes transform the app to their liking making it proprietary and need specific framework to run on a device.
You should be able to just open up an aosp ROM and take out the .apk then push it and install to your device

I've been looking too! I wouldn't think it's too hard if someone d/l the software and sent to the US....just because it's made for a Japanese phone how could it be so different than our android ones? Specially if it's just a static wallpaper?? Let me know if you found anything!!
I've looked a lot and never found it

Via SD Maid App, it is free,
open--> settings---> app control--> show system app,
then app control--> tap on app/widget/livewallpaper ---> export apk
the problem is not the exporting part, but making the apk work on your particular device, there are lot of dependencies based on that particular model. Currently working on a F-03F, it is the most adorable phone ever. Will upload the APKs as I get them working on other phones...

Ringtones and wallpaper* coming up
The apps run checks.
Okay I downloaded all of that stuff. Some apps told me I was on the wrong device and another told me my phone number wasn't connected to docomo I think the next step might be posting the data from the obb folder on your device.
Oh wait never mind the only apps I can get to run are the clock widget and the live wallpaper. I thought there were more Disney clocks?
Do you happen to have the F-03F stock rom by any chance?

Install as a normal Apk. it worked for me, but I don't think that it works because I spent the last couple of minutes trying to talk to my device while locked and it won't answer me back.
It looks to be the same apk that is floating around. It will install correctly but w/o the option inside the settings menu you can't enable it.

Same here, installed but now I am talking to my phone without any luck.
What about pushing it to the system/app folder? Would that make a difference?
Edit: Pushed to it system/app and got force close. ;(
The app isnt showing up anywhere

That won't matter the issue is you haven't set it up which hasn't been done yet. I liked the setup activity to my lock screen slider and it runs but then dies immediately.
Could it be a missing file? something motorola has in their devices other ones don't? a lib file maybe? thinking out loud....

Good to know, I will be waiting for the end result
Im trying to port it the RAZR M, hopefully it'll be pretty easy since they're both new and they're both Motorola

If I were to take a guess, the app is most likely routed to search for the language core in the x8 (or 8x I don't remember the name) chip set in the motox. Since no phones have this, it crashes. Also, it is probably checking device model, so if its anything but the motox or the new droids, it'll crash.

Well you can edit your build.prop to match the moto x

This would make sense considering all the Moto devices this app works on all have the X8 SoC. I think it's very unlikely we'll see Touchless Control ported to other devices. The only devices I could see any small success would be devices containing an Snapdragon 800, which works in a similar way to the X8.
The only similar functionality I have found is with Open Mic + - Play Store
I think it eats a bit of battery though.

A bit is a nice way of putting it haha
Luckily I have a Maxx so I am not too worried about battery consumption. However I would prefer to use the official touchless from Motorola if it ever gets hacked for more devices. Should be easier now that it was released onto the playstore

[Q] HTC Released Blinkfeed in Playstore - How to get it?

HTC Released their newest blinkfeed version, the one that can be found in sense 6, to the playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.launcher
But it's quite sad that the HOX+ is incompatible? Any idea how to overcome that issue and download it and use it?
Yep, this is kinda weird. Notice that HTC's app is on the play store for some time now, but only has 3 ratings? It looks like it is disabled for everyone.
You can try to get the apk from play store. Here is one tutorial how to do it.
http://www.labnol.org/internet/download-apk-from-google-play/28303/
Nah, won't work. It is the true blinkfeed but the issue is that aits designed for the 4.4 API, hence us running 4.2.2 won't allow us to use it. That's why i was able to see it on 4.4 but i cant see it now.
Is there a way to modify the APP that we can use it in 4.2 too

a german site said that right now nobody can download the app not even the htc one (2013),and they don't know when it will be ready for us

I think HTC will be smart enouigh to downgrade it themselves. You see, from my point of view, I don't really want 4.4 that much as much as i want sense 6. I can get 4.4 from AOSP easily thanks to our devs, but I want Blinkfeed launcher most importantly.
HTC released that app about 1 week ago, which is still not available to all phones yet. I think they want to make every one feel how awesome their software is, so I think they will make blinkfeed available to all androids 4.0+.
BBM did something similar, they started with 4.2.2 and above, then one by one decreased. Now its available to 2.6 androids.
I think i will just wait.
I asked them in twitter this was there response

I guess Ghand0ur is kind of right. If HTC were to update the apps in our One X+, such as the launcher, the Gallery etc., 4.2.2 wouldn't suck that much.
They even have HTC zoey and HTC TV and other apps in the playstore but you can not find them with your phone.you must search it With the pc

I succeeded to get the latest launcher working on my HOX+ with CarbonRom on (4.4). It said on the market that my phone isn't supported so I had to download the apk alone from a third party app. I succeeded to have the basic functions of the launcher. App Drawer, widgets, home screens, home wallpaper, however
1- Blinkfeed was broken, it said "No content, swipe down to refresh" and swiping from the left side of the screen gave me a sidebar with "Highlights" in it and clicking the 3 dotted button wouldn't bring anything up.
2-Also when I clicked on the "Search" button in the app drawer the launcher would just stop working.
How did you get it to work whenever i will to Start the launcher there is a message that my phone is not supported

You have to have 4.4 , so download a kitkat rom(like carbon rom or cyanogenmod) . Then search for the apk online. I think we aren't allowed to mention third party apps that get you full apps for free. So you have to search for one.
I am on carbonrom 4.4 but it still did not work

It won't work, as I said I downloaded the apk from somewhere else and only the basic functions worked. BlinkFeed did not.
Anyway once BlinkFeed will be available for us I will move straight away to 4.4 . Can't wait !!

Why not just change your device model in the build.prop to one of the ones that does support it. That should theoretically trick google into letting you download it.

i am on a samsung note 2 LTE with 4.3 , i just purchased the gear Fit. and i have been reading about to get the weather working properly you need to be running the Samsung Weather Widget . personally i am on a custom rom. ( TW based) but i use NEXT Launcher. my question is A) Will any weather app installed work with the gear fit since i am on a samsung device?
B) or do i need to go back to STOCK LAUNCHER and use only the ACCUWEATHER Widget app .
C) Does anyone have the Stock Samsung Widget .apk that i can install on my phone to try in my 3rd party launcher? or will it not work?

You need Daemonweather.apk and AčuWeather2013.apk in your system/apk folder then it works. i had the same problem once.

[Q] How to find the source of home screen constantly restarting?

So I have an Xperia z1 running rooted android 4.4.4 and using xposed module, I'm using the original xperia version of Android my phone came with, no custom room or anything.
I'm wondering if there is an app I can get which simply finds out which app sent the request for an app to restart or close? Nothing is wrong with the launcher, there must be an app trying to clear memory or something and is closing it...?
