[Q] I9100 is it ok if i update cwm 6.0.3.2 to 6.0.4.7 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i have a question i read here in forums that before you flash a kitkat rom you need first cwm version is 6.0.4.7 higher i have philz touch 5 and my cwm version is 6.0.3.2 how can i update my cwm to 6.0.4.7 im sorry im newbie tia and godbless

If you want to flash KitKat, then I suggest you just follow the guide on cyanogenmod.org. In the howto, they provide you with the download link for the correct custom recovery and also how to apply it to your phone. I also had an old CWM version before and so the installation of CM11 failed. After I flashed the one from the guide, it just worked!
Here's the link:
h**p://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100 (sorry, I'm not allowed yet to post links!)
IMPORTANT NOTICE: I don't know if a different kernel (like the PhilZ touch) also removes the superbrick bug. So maybe you shouldn't do a factory reset after putting the new CWM. I did it with mine, it didn't brick. Maybe I was lucky (had a rootet phone before, don't remember though which kernel).

Dear all,
I know there are multiple threads running for the same, but still i was not able to understand most of the way. Am having SII which is running on Android 4.0.4, I want to root my phone so that i can install Jelly Bean Rom available in the forum.
last i have rooted Galaxy Spica 5700, but it required flashing device with Odin and instillation of a new kernel. But it seems like many new things have came up. Can someone please post me Point by point procedure of rooting my device with ClockworkMod recovery.
Plenty of threads that answer this question in detail. No need for people to duplicate topics or answers.

If you know how to flash kernels via odin its simple. Just download siyah kernel for i9100 , install the drivers required fr odin , flash the kernel in download mode. It will give you rot access and CWM recovery. Then yo can boot into recovery, wipe data/cache and install any rom you want. But do not wipe anything n stock recovery since you are on 4.0.4 (which has the brick bug)
you can also root by stock recovery just by flashing a single .zip file. But if you know the way to do it by odin i suggest the odin mehtod.
and to flash JB....MobileOdin Pro.......so you'll forget about rooting with the EverRoot option........................beware of the wipes with 4.0.4 tho, that crap is nasty.

[Q] Rooted SGS2, still on Gingerbread: is CWM recovery OK?

hi,
I have a Galaxy S2 which I rooted very early on without flashing a custom recovery. At that time one just had to flash one specific thing via Odin and it was done.
So the thing is still running Gingerbread. Now I finally want to get a nice custom ROM on it. But I want to make sure that the current CWM recovery is still "compatible" to my old 2.3.3 Android (2.6.35.7-I9100XWKG1 kernel) - like, can I install the current CWM regardless of the fact that my Android is very old?
(I faintly remember having seen something about a CWM for ICS and another one for Jellybean, which is why I'm asking.)
Search the general i9100 forum on how to flash a custom ROM.
Start at the "guide index" thread and work your way from there.
Sent from my digital submersible hovercraft.
Thank you for the hint, however, I already studied how to flash a custom ROM in the CM10.1 thread and how to install CWM from the CWM thread.
My specific question was different:
This is the CWM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693
In here they offer a version to download for JB (6.0.2.7) and a version for ICS (5.5.0.4). To me, this implies that I can't just install any CWM version with my Gingerbread. Is this true, and what version do I have to install, then?
Flash the latest stock rom with Odin. After that flash the recovery for JB. Then you should be fine.

[Q] Could really need help for updating recovery mode back to Philz touch

Hello!
I could really need help for updating my recovery mode i don´t get at there is to much information to find the right one i need.
My problem is and some information:
I´m running pac rom i9100-nightly-2013 10 05 at the moment and recovery mode is since a few weeks for a reason i don´t know(had philz touch before):
CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.0
But i want Philz Touch back and i don´t want to choose something wrong and brick the phone so i really need your help
Don´t get it which version i can install because of kernel and all that stuff....
Thank you all for your time and helping someone who is lost in information...
Philz kernel/recovery is for stock firmware only.
but..
But i had a recovery with touch control and filemanager a few weeks ago? is it possible that it was included in slimrom i was using before pac rom?
thx
Only rom I've seen it on is neat rom. If you want cwm touch then flash Apollo aokp/cm kernel with modded Philz custom recovery built in. Take care with Apollo as he has both stock and custom kernel now and also twrp and cwm version of the kernels

[Q] Huawei ascend y300 cyanogenmod

Hi!
I was rooting my phone and flashing recovery by tutorial on thumblr with bootloader unlock code from huawei.
I had flashed TWRP because I did all the same as in this tutorial. Today I want to flash on my phone cyanogenmod rom from modaco for example (write "huawei ascend y300 cyanogen mod" in google ).
But if I'm flashing it by TWRP it isn't working (when I'm flashing it there is an error). I have read that I must have CWM to do it, but now is the problem - how can I remove TWRP and install CWM? (Rom manager method isn't working, and when I flash CWM by TWRP it isn't working too). And when I flash CWM with unlock tools from thumblr recovery isn't working.
What can I do?
Sorry for my bad English And sorry for post without links to pages I was writing about but "clever XDA" blocked links for new users :/
If you flashed TWRP Thru Fastboot just flash A CWM image as you would flash A TWRP image
Sent from my HTC Desire C using xda app-developers app
it's working now
I've downloaded wrong ver of rom, the good version works with TWRP. Now can you give me good kernel working with CM 10.1?
And which one of this roms is the best in your opinion? And without video playing and recording issues (artefacts).

greetz Marc
I have a y300. Can someone help me step by step how to update with cyanogenmod plz
Greetings,
I'm sorry if I'm posting this on a wrong place but I couldn't find a topic describing my problem.
I have Huawei Y300 for a few months now, and recently I installed Cyanogenmod 11 (Kitkat) on it (Root + Clockworkmod Recovery + KitKat + GAPPS).
The look of this ROM is fantastic (compared to the stock) but the performance is terrible (lag, restarts, app crashes...).
Now I would like to downgrade to Cyanogenmod 10.2 or 10.1, hopefully to get more stable and overall better performance.
Here is my procedure:
- I downloaded cyanogenmod 10.1 with gapps and placed it on my SD card.
- Entering the recovery I did a complete wipe/factory reset, formated data, system, cache, dalvik, everything!!
- Finally, I tried to flash new 10.1 but without success. As soon as I "click" on the file I want to flash, several lines of code appear and everything stops returning me to the recovery menu (later today I will upload a screenshot).
I've read on some forums that the "old" kernel install is necessary before trying to downgrade KitKat.
If anyone has the advice/sollution for me, I would appreciate it!

status 7 error while installing ROM in 4.3 android version

Hi All,
Sorry if the same question is being asked over and over again, but I am not able to find correct solution for my problem.
Well, the basic problem is status -7 error. but I want to know if I am using the correct version of CWM, ROM etc.
My Mobile model: GT I9300(Indian model- GSM)
Android version-4.3
baseband versionI9300DDUGNB1
Kernel - 3.0.31-2363855
Build # JSS15J.I9300XWUGML4
ClockworkMod recovery v6.0.3.2
ROM Manager Version 5.5.3.7
CMW Manger v3.55
Roms I tried to install are cm-11-20140918-NIGHTLY-i9300.zip and Paranoid Android downloaded from the below links respectilvey:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-9-nightly-builds-t1714354
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/aospaandroid-4-4-2-kvt49l-t1745003.
With the help of Root checker i can say that the Root is granted properly.
Is my recovery version good? Coz, i have used a prior version( 3.xx) and it was working fine(though it was showing status 7 error), ie., for backup and restore, but in the version6.0.3.2, even taking a backup isn't properly done.
also, are the ROMS am using correct for my S3?
Please help me install new ROM.
TIA.

You will need this CM11 version, better Snapshot than Nightly: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=i9300
Than you will also need the latest recovery, I prefer Philz Touch Recovery: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/philz_touch_6.48.4-i9300.tar.md5 (flash it in odin)
Last I would recommand a Googy-Max Kernel like this one here: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/philz_touch_6.48.4-i9300.tar.md5

Error 7 means your recovery is to old to flash kitkat roms
Your recovery needs to be updated to install any kitkat roms.
