You seem to have a Nexus 4. If you look hard enough, you can see the same lines on that phone too. It's just the screen technology those phones use, it's completely normal.

I understand that but with the Z2 i dont even have to make a effort to see it...
Does it happen to you?
Thanks for the help

I have a defective unit and no i dont see any lines hence why i said a replacement is needed
The display should be stronger than the avarage human eyes which is 430ppi
Z2 Screen is 442ppi, any lines if existant shouldent be easily seen at all and if any are then there is a problem
I havent seen any at on my phone so id recomend sending yours back for a replacement if posible

I had a nexus 4 and own the Z2 as well. It is perfectly normal. It is the digitiser which is built into the glass screen that you see. If I'm not mistaken, it appears under certain lighting conditions and you can see it at times and cannot at others? It is perfectly normal so don't worry! My N4/Z2 digitiser lines are not extremely visible unless held in certain ways for light to reflect off but my brother's N4 has extremely visible lines for the digitiser! Hope this helps! :highfive:

I've just been to two stores to compare my phone with other Z2's and yes the lines are more pronounced than the others... The funny thing is that my blacks are darker and my whites are whiter... It looks that the screens are different...

Yeah some just happen to have a more defined digitiser but by no means is it something to worry about! That said, you can always return it if it is bothering you though!

Your unit is fine, im 90% sure its just the backlight (its strobes so looks like white lines on a dark background.)

It's not like that. The LCD it self is good and i don't even have dead pixels.
What i see is this:
"Polarizer lines"
I think i'm going to return it. With low light it's ok but during the day i can see it very well.
This is the second Z2 that i return. The first one had a tinted red display.
I bought it on a Uk online store that i'm beginning to suspect that is selling second quality items...

Yeah you might have a more visible polarizer on your unit which magus alot of sense
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

Actually funny you mention the polarizer.
I noticed these odd dotted lines on my screen and freaked out....
Polarized glasses.... turn my head 90 degrees and all was well... haha

Those dotted lines are normal. If you've seen mine you would freak out believe me... Lol

[Q] Issue: light seeping through touch button

Hi guys
On my SGS2 when the touch buttons are lite part of the light seeps through the gap of the hard button. Does anyone else have this?
I can only see it when it's pretty dark but its very annoying.
I don't have this :s
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, I have it too, but it's not too bad and only visible from certain angles and in a dark room.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Yeah I sometimes have itbut almost rarely, and like the other guy said only from certain angles when I'm looking for it. I put pressure on the button in that direction and it disappears usually
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Ive got this very slightly on the right hand side. I also notice when im reading a web page with a black background the very bottom left has a white spot/pixel, it goes away when you start scrolling. Anyone else got the same problem?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Glad im not the only one who has this. Worth returning over?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Personally It doesn't bother me, its hard to notice and even when I can see it, its really tiny. So to me not a problem
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Im guessing you have Optus stock as well?
When you look at the touch button straight on can you see the light?
Mine has the same issue but i dont care.
I can only see it when I'm using the phone when it's completely dark
My wife has a mole but shes still beautiful, can we not get a little obsessed with perfection with our phones? It is after all the slimmest, lightest, dual core power house smart phone out there....forgive its quirks?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
My phone did this at first but it went away after a couple weeks as the home button got better seated through use. Definitely not worth returning over.
same here, right hand side!
this was the reason for me to switch off the button lights in settings. looks better anyway
It has to be pretty dark...
didnt realise you could turn the light off

send it back, complain to samsung, demand they redesign the handset!
erm...
This will make it heavier and bulkier!!!
Happens to mine and there is NO PROBLEM with it. Be happy!

And more expensive. All these perfectly good handsets getting returned for new ones have to be paid for somehow.
I switched mine off looks so much better, per sonly I wish it was all black like the nexus s, i think that looks so sexy
Have it too, but dont matter !! I am a perfectionist too ( 620 euros it is for a phone !! ) but i think... i mean ... returning it for this????
If it is same as anyone elses in here its BARELY visible and you should try to find it again.. enjoy your phone. ( there are great chances of getting a same unit back, cause its a design thing i think )
Hey,
have it as well. But I don't really mind.

I've got the white spot/pixel issue, only noticed it when I was looking at another site which had a very dark blue background
Miss Diva

Screen Resolution has dropped down!

I don't know why but all of a sudden my screen resolution has gone down.
Everything have a lesser quality to it.
I've read in a topic that you need to Reflash or so a Hard reset... I've change a ROM and it look the same.
Did you installed a screen protector? lol i know this sounds dumb but anyways needed to be asked
I've ZAGG InvisibleShield, but I've placed him before this problem has happened.
The most notable thing I've notice about the screen quality dropping was me being able to see those Transverse lines across me screen when ever I look in black things and in some other colors and parts of my phone.
someone told me something about being able to up grading the screen to 24bit
By any chance can you take an actual photo AND a screen shot of the display ?

That's not resolution, that's colour depth where you end up with banding. Have you installed a new rom, or an update for a rom lately?
Read this and you'll have some more knowledge on the situation:

Sorry for the double post but can someone tell my how can I chane my screen from 16 to 24 bits.
Nothing help with this problem and this is the only think I didn't try doing.
Maybe you can't see a different from an ordinary SGS2 screen, but when I look at the alarm clock notes and a lot of other screen I can clearly see vertical lines when going from one color tune to a more darker one.
Hahahahaha. Dude, everyone with an SGS2 hates the fact that everything is 16 bit. The whole firmware needs to have rewritten drivers for us to get more than 16 bits! It's impossible as of yet.

Yep there is a topic on it in general section I think. "ink marks" or something. Personally I think it is not a major problem. I have 2 or 3 tiny spots but most of the time we don't use the phone in a pitch black environment, nor are we looking at a pure black screen (how often do you spend in the homescreen?). It would however be an issue if it was noticable during movies, games etc, where the viewing experience is paramount

Yes true, it would be an issue if it was visible while watching movies and such.. but question is how long should this ink spot last compare to the other parts of the screen?
What does this ink indicate?
Yes I have them and it annoys me. And I don't understand why people defend it and say it's okay, we've all paid a lot of money for these phones how is it okay or acceptable to have black dots all over the screen? Yes it's only under very specific conditions but that's not the point, it is extremely annoying watching movies when they fade to black, when in the app launcher under dark conditions. And it's not just 1 or 2 small dots it's like someone broke a black pen and flicked it all over the screen.

I've only had the phone a few days now so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt since everything I've read is saying you get used to it but...... It's there..... There are dots on the screen every time there's black, how do you get used to that? I understand every AMOLED screen has it but don't you think that if it's that big a problem then the screens aren't ready for prime time and need to improved? I've found myself using white everywhere when black is what saves battery on an AMOLED screen and black looks good on an AMOLED screen but I can't stand the dots.

Dead pixel?

I've noticed on my screen when my screen shows black that I have like a dark little line on my scree about half a cm long and about a mm thick. Is this a dead pixel? When I do the colour dead pixel test it's fine but soon as it goes black it's quite visible.

[Q] gap in display waterproof

just got my z2 and when sat in dark room with brightness turned up the bottom left of the screen shines a bit of light between the plastic trim and the glass display
now i am not bothered by this but will it leak water in when submerged? or am i been paranoid
also noticed the flash is off center a bit apart from that everything seems ok
thanks:laugh:
I think gaps do compromise waterproof, and the off set camera or flash led is a early batch fault
Take note that i recomend you getting a replacement

In my question thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793532) I got the answer that it doesn't really affect waterproofing because the seal is made over a larger area than the gaps.
The gaps I have are at the top right, bottom left, and the middle of the entire left side (very minimal but noticeable to my very focusing eyes - I regret looking that close to my device)
Thanks for the replys the gap doesn't bother me just worried water would get in and the slight misalignmen of the camera flash doesn't seem to affect anything so I should be good shouldt I?
Thanks

well it was annoying me so i thought what the hell i filled a bowl up and put the phone in the bowl (which even a waterproof phone i dont understand the point in doing lol) anyway after a minuet or so the phone seems all ok there was no bubbles coming from the phone to show water getting in and all seems ok so the gaps in my phone at least seems water tight (hopefully):victory:
