Since the the SGH-S959G uses a different partition for its recovery, flashing my kernel will not change the recovery. So to remedy this @mr-cook has created a flashable zip that flashes TWRP 2.6.3.0 onto your device. This zip can be downloaded here:
TWRP 2.6.3.0
You can just flash this after flashing my kernel.
Useful Tips and Apps
Those out there that have contributed better ways to do things will have their ideas posted here so everyone can benefit from their knowledge.
First tip is brought to us by @razen_kain : There's an app called Online Nandroid Backup. It makes a backup without booting into recovery and you can specify the recovery you're using and which partitions you want to backup. Even better you can name your backups which I find VERY helpful when jumping between ROMs.

Sorry guys. STweaks got jacked on this one and I have to rebuild.
It boots on Onmi and WiFi and everything seems to work...the only issue is that STweaks is not showing as stated before.

Does it matter if we are on cwm or twrp? If not I'll try and flash tomorrow and report back.

Sweet, very glad to hear. You should also notice an increase in performance regardless of STweaks. I believe I fixed the problem and am going to rebuild tonight .

Working well over here.
Edit: Holy crap, man. This speed is incredible. Battery life is improved, too. Omni Kernel.

I am working on some merge issues and should be able to build tomorrow. I have to fly out to Alabama though so it wont be til the evening. Soon I will have the kernel ironed out for the i777. Till then consider these build as beta. They wont brick your phone but MAY have minor issues. But just because they may doesn't mean they will have problems. For my rom I was going to replace the stock kernel with the custom built one but I think I will leave the stock one and have the kernel in OP#2. I know some ppl like to have to rock stability the stock kernel has but others want the bleeding edge. I am here to say that I can make both happy.
Kind Regards,
Render
Something i noticed is that recovery says (in twrp Omni) that my phone is a i9100 so it dont let me install nightlies...maybe you have to change the recovery to a i777 recovery?
Thanks for your awesome work anyway!

Can you check your build.prop?
ro.product.device (or ro.build.product) should be "i777" or "SGH-I777"

@RenderBroken,
Perhaps semantics, but it may be worth noting (in the OP by the Omnirom build) that the recovery is TWRP? I admit, I assumed that it was CWM until seeing one of the recent posts.
I plan to link to it in the OMNI OP if that's alright with you. This provides an easier/faster route to a compatible recovery.
massive cheers, and thank you for this.
-Cyril
================================================================================
EDIT: the filename "RenderOMNI-kernel-12-23-CWM.zip" suggests CWM, but flashing the zip definitely gives TWRP, and my kernel version reads: [email protected] #8 <<that's you, correct?
This kernel makes the device noticeably snappier.
Well my phone is definitely snappier. There's only one little bug I've noticed. If i select to disable backlight illumination from settings/buttons menu they will turn off for a minute but will come back on and stay on until i go back in the menu and turn them on then off again. For now i just have them set for one second and that seems to be working fine. This is on the cm11 version

[Kernel] [4.4.4] [24.11.14] ->Alex-V_Personal_Kernel_1.6->S2W/MPDEC/PD/GSM/NO_OC/AVS

Some words before,
Credits: Lyapota, Flar2, Kozmikkick, Xmister, N3ocort3x, Faux123, Showp1984, TripNRaVeR, Maxwen and all other
My special thx this time goes to Lyapota for his teaching about dt.img (DTS files)
all thx (if i get some) goes to the people above...without those i´m nothing....why...because i can not write kernel codes and patches i can only use it...so this is a copy and paste kernel if you want
Its my own private kernel.....so there want not be many feature requests as i only use this private...maybe different way to s2w (want to have a fixed pos to swipe and not all over the display) and what the future brings
Why i made it...one kernel has cpuquiet but no s2w....an other has s2w but no cpuquiet...so i want both together....
So you see i dont want to steel others work...or something other..just want to share this with people there like or dont like

Sure..simply change the values in the init.d script and reboot
Hi Alex
Thanks for a nice kernel.
Maybe I get this wrong, but I can't find sys/kernel/fast_charge/force_fast_charge file, so not sure whether fastcharge is implemented or not as I can't check whether it is 0 or 1

Wow, a version for Nougat and marshmallow too? @Dreamstar
I just tested and it works in the a6020l36 Brazil variant.
I very much hope that in version 3.0 come DT2W.
Thank you for the work.
@akashi23
Thanks for confirmation,
@Dreamstar
In there any downside of using this kernel on plus(snapdragon 616) version.
DreamStar
I realized something, after a while the cpu governors and schedulers change by default again, same thing with cpu frequencies if changed, I realized that a lot of times also do not appear cpu governors in the kernel managers.
Sorry for bad English.
Please also add USB fast charging. Thanks
And if there's any chance make kernel working on custom ROM too.
And also try to add under clocking/over clocking voltage, CPU.

[KERNEL] [CLARK] [LOS 7.1.2] HandBag Kernel - v2.3.5

HandBag Kernel
"Every single feature" Held together with duct tape and magic
Development for the Moto X Style/Pure seems a little quiet, so I decided to patch together my own kernel. I think this is the perfect chance to learn git and the build system for android. Feature requests are welcome!
Disclaimer
Please note that this is my first kernel and that stability and battery life are not guaranteed. Actually, nothing is guaranteed. I am not responsible for bricked devices or lost data. Flash at your own risk.
You will most definitely have to adjust the default settings. Expect lags and fun stuff.
Also note that this kernel is meant for LineageOS based roms. Tested and running daily on XT1575.

UBER Toolchain 6.0 Linero Toolchain 6.3.1
Dynamic Fsync
Adreno Idler/Boost
AnyKernel2 Installer
Backlight Dimmer
Color control (KCal)
To-Do
I dunno, you tell me.
Installation
Flash in recovery
Note: AnyKernel2 will use your existing ramdisk. It's recommended to flash over the kernel that came with your rom or a previous version of my kernel. Refer to AnyKernel2 for restoring after a bad flash.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I logcat?
A: You'll need adb or root
Through adb:
Code:
adb logcat -b all -d > %userprofile%/Desktop/logcat.txt
Through your phone:
Download a terminal app
Code:
su
logcat -b all -d > /sdcard/logcat.txt
It'll take about 10 seconds for the command to work. Preferably catch the log as soon as you boot.
Upload the logcat found at the output directory as an attachment.
Q: Where is hybrid mode for powersuspend?
A: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72405702&postcount=92
Q: Which Roms work with this kernel? Does it work on CAF Roms?
A: Lineage OS. No guarantees for other Roms, but users have reported that it works on:
Mokee OS
Resurrection Remix
Dirty Unicorns (CAF?)
AICP
CrDroid
Q: What app should I use to tune this kernel?
A: I prefer EX Kernel Manager, but Kernel Adiutor works well too.
Q: Can we get X feature?
A: Working on it.
Nice
Will give it a try!
Great work

Nice work! I was gonna do something similar but I never had time. If I do I might do it for caf-aosp roms. I will flash this kernel with resurrection remix and give some feedback! Very nice job
confirmed working on Mokee OS nightly for 20170514
This won't work with something like CypherOS which is AOSP based right?
you can try... backup your boot.img in recovery, if anything goes wrong you can always recover from that
Confirmed working on Resurrection remix latest weekly.
Bro please include KCAL support if possible. The piece I have does not render good colors. It would be awesome then. Thanks for your efforts.

I get massive bluetooth battery drain on CypherOS. Trying a different kernel MAY be something that could fix that?

The Bluetooth drain is just cypher os itself. Other people said they had that problem even on they're Google plus page. Just use a different room like crdroid- resurrection remix, or just plain old lineage, or mokee. You got some nice options.

First of all... I feel like no one has recognized the BT drain on CypherOS... so thank you for that. Trying other roms is what I've been doing. I'm currently on Tesla and like it a lot... but have desparately wanted a rom thats as similar to a Google Pixel as possible. Pure Nexus hasn't been updated to Nougat and CypherOS seemed to be what I wanted. Things like Lineage, Tesla, RR, Dirty Unicorns all have their own things. At least with Tesla, I installed Substratum and pixel themes... just not exactly like the Pixel-ness of CypherOS.
Any plans for hotplugging? I'm not really requesting it just wondering what you have in store for the future.

I plan on packing in as many features as possible. Hotplugging is on the list after I get the CPU Governors and boot up scripts in.

You can try disabling Bluetooth scanning under location setting or disable one of the relevant wakelocks using my kernel with your favorite kernel manager. (I prefer EX Kernel Manager)

Nice, will test any new versions released as soon as possible. Keep up the good work ?
Works on dirty unicorns, which is a caf based rom, so I'm surprised this is working and there's nothing really wrong except in ex kernel manager and I tried kernel auditor I enable backlight dimmer and when I turn the screen off and back on the brightness is much higher than what I have it set as. Anyone else have that?
Same thing on Resurrection remix

I haven't cherry picked the code for backlight-dimmer yet. Currently having some issues with getting Ofast to work. I'll probably keep Ofast disabled and work on adding features.
EDIT:
Apparently, I did cherry pick it. I'll look into it.
EDIT2:
Fixed, seems like flar2 did something different for the Nexus 5x backlight. Check the downloads tab for the most recent kernel.
