ART runtime compatible roms? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have any of you enabled ART in any of the Z2 custom roms with little or no issues? If so, please let me know. I had ART enabled on my LG G2 and I miss it :'(

Art should work on the Z2 but i doubt all apps would work
Art support was removed for safety
You could try finding a libart.so file and putting it in your system and seeing if the runtime option shows up

please write some more deails here:
- what Gingerbread version have you installed ?
- is it a stock (LG) rom or customized rom like CyanogenMod7 or something else ?
- do you have installed / modified / tweaked something in scripts ?
- was the crt animation working before made any changes or was it the first clean install and the CRT animation isnt working ?

You are using an Optimus S not an Nexus S. Only Nexus S default have that feature.

So does sprint turn off those features when they tweak the sdk or does Google turn it off?
Is there a way to turn it on through the scripts it apks or anything. I know I have to root it but that's fine.

Crt is actually supported by Mik_os's cyanogenmod porting and by Gingerlol 1.5.2 rom.
You could try one of these.

No, he can't. From what I believe that optimus s uses a different partition order than optimus one

it doesnt matter all about this crt ... the nice looking CRT feature brings us the black screen bug, so its disabled in most of devices that have original firmware from manufacturer...
its because OpenGL 1.x (Optimus One have only OpenGL ES 1.x) doesnt support Offscreen drawing or better "On a device who the display is powered off already", so it must be give errors in kernel (You can see that in dmesg command in the shell).
Do any of these ports have any serious bugs like, no GPS or messaging or 3g etc.? Or even stability problems?

Oh that makes complete sense. Thanks!
But I remember having it on my hero with cyanogen mod 7! And I don't think that phone had open gl. Open gl didn't come available to phones till the year after. But I could be wrong.

without OpenGL you cant get the CRT screen.
Crt effect for stock 2.3.3 rom!
For those who are still on stock 2.3.3 rom (but rooted!) and would like to have CRT effect, flash this zip file via clockworkmod. Can't remember where I got this, but it works!
Tested on V20G, not working with V20H

Support for Android Runtime (ART)

Any news if the Z2 ships with support for ART? So far HTC One (M8) and the S5 have been confirmed, couldn't find anything about the Z2.
XZ2 has 4.4 so art will be avalible , im not sure about support but it should be mostly fine

ART is not included with Sony's version of KitKat on the Z1 (see comments here: http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/03/1...ild-is-live-see-some-full-res-camera-samples/), so it's unlikely it is on the Z2.

True, but I did also read someone saying the Z2 didn't have the option for ART in developer settings, but I couldn't find the article/post again...
hope its in there. i like the difference it makes
(not much benchmark wise but apps open much faster and run more stable)
id like to know. XZ2 is being released soon so we can find out

I found the no ART on Z2 post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50177690
This was on pre-release firmware, so I guess there's a slight chance they put it in, but I doubt it. Don't expect ART support. Sorry

The current version does not support ART.
Is it posible that we could build the libart.so and delete the libdvm.so (wipe cache and dalvik) in hopes that it forces art??
Any ideas if this works or anyone experianced enough to test out becuse i dont have a XZ2 but im buying one soon

ART extremely slow

Title says it all, my Galaxy S3 with SlimKat and Googy Max2 is EXTREMELY laggy on ART. Am I doing something wrong?
Yes, using ART.
ART is still experimental and many app developers have yet to optimise for it.

ART is fast on Nexus 7!

You must be doing something wrong ..slowness of the device cannot be due to ART.
Check the processor speed and animation scale ...apps misbehaving due to ART is a know issue but I have never heard of a device being slow due to ART

Because in the nexus it came with software not ported

runtime ART

I do not see the selection for changing from delvik to art on the tab z running 4.4.2 ????? anyone know anything about this???????
Sony removed it, as it's a beta in KK.

It will be default in 5.0, so we should get it soon.

[Discuss]ART on android 4.4.4

Cm11 does supports ART, I have used it
I've also used ART on CM11. It works, but maybe less fluent than with stock4.4.4?
It seems that there will not be any L update for moto E.

And why do you think so?
Used ART on cm11 by cybojenix. Performance got poor, delay in every action, installation of apps take a long time + got an FC in xposed installer which didn't come up on dalvik

Android L runs on ART and performance of moto E on art is very poor.
ART atleast on 4.4.2 ran smoothly on Moto E. Faced no problem at all. Only shifted to Dalvik as apps cannot be moved to sd card on stock rom in ART presently. Never tried ART in the new 4.4.4 update. But I think hardware wise Moto E has no problem running L. Hope for the best
Google’s first super cheap ‘Android One’ phones may debut in September. Definitely One does not run on ART and I think Google is concentrating ART only for high end phones.

Well this is nt true, the ART we saw in the KitKat builds ws just beta and ws for testing purposes only thus was unstable and was not optimized.
ART will perform much better and stable in Android L, even on lower end devices too! [emoji6]
Not satisfactory according to my usage.

But it takes up a lot of internal memory as well right ? I shall surely give it a shot very soon

ART is best feature in android.. To make the app run fluid and it will reduce the memory and CPU usage at runtime. But it take extra space in internal memory for storing the compiled code also... As google stated that art in android L will reduce the size of compiled code and time taking to compile while installing app.... So probably we get android L but the internal memory is not enough to many app.....
