Any buggs or pro/cons????

Mobile Data not Working
Possibly because I'm not from Portugal and not on that network, but I can't seem to get my mobile data to work. It says I need to insert a SIM card. Probably flashing back to 4.2.2 in the meantime unless I can find a fix.

Be carefull with flashing back 4.2.2 - new firmware contains new bootloader which makes it impossible to downgrade (at least in simple manner). Flashing KK is one way road...

That is how you get your mobile data and phone service is with a sim card.
Then you have to set up an APN to match your particular sim for data.
If you do not have a sim...you can still use your mega , but on a wifi instead and still no phone or mms.
Even though your not in Portugal. . You can stillnflash it and just choose the language that you want.
Good luck.
I still cant believe that no one has tried this KK upgrade on their 9205 and NOT reported back
If they like it or not

I did install it and I'm not happy. Mobile data not able to be used. If all you want to do with your phone is make calls and send SMS, feel free to flash it if you're not from Portugal.

Who's sim card are you using?? and the phone and sms works??
Maybe try your APN again. Can you get the correct APN settings for your sim and double check..
PS.... Does it have the United Stated English language choice when coming off a factory reset??

I would ask you if you know anything about the italian 4.4.2 kitkat for mega. Thanks!

Works fine for me although I expected a few cosmetic changes. Theres no Kitkat wallpapers, everything look the same as 4.2.2 apart from the system changes obviously. Not noticing any better battery performance yet, will keep testing.

In fact there are not so many changes besides KNOX and bootloader...

Is it really worth custom-flash to 4.4.2 Portugal if you're not from that country or would you just prefer to wait for the official to roll out?
In my opinion, since there's not much to brag on the KitKat version of Galaxy Mega, I would stick to JellyBean and wait for the official OTA from Samsung. I don't see any custom ROMs for the GT-I9205 yet and there are not many developers into this device compared to the good old S2, S3, S4, S5 series. I'm not sure why, there are more custom ROMs for low-branded devices such as the Lenovo series. Now, I feel a bit regretted buying this phone unless you're a big fan of TouchWiz UI (on a big display panel) and don't like the Xperia, or HTC Sense interface, this is for you.

BTW I tried the Bulgarian & Czech UDNF2 roms from Sammobile but Wifi would not work, so reverted to Portugal and all is well again, still enjoying Kitkat over JB.

There in NO WAY to downgrade to stock 4.2.2! Athough you can use custom rom MegaFire from @megalomanic14 which is built on base stock TW 4.2.2 and CAN BE flashed onto KK from custom recovery. Furthermore this rom is much faster than stock TW.

[Q] No available update on kies (even though i should have!)

Hi all, I'm new to posting here but a vet over at samdroid.
I've looked around quite a bit and my problem seems to be unique...annoyingly.
I got my S2 on contract from O2 about 4 days ago, instantly went home and found out I was eligible to upgrade to ICS officially via kies. I have been on kies and connected my phone every day since, and I keep getting told I have the latest version (2.3.5), even though I've seen countless threads/comments of people delighted about the fact they upgraded through kies!
I was thinking of trying odin (i was a pro at updating roms on my spica), but don't know if using an offical update through odin instead of kies would void my warranty etc. NOTE: I don't want to actually root my phone (yet)
I hope that all made sense and any help would be much appreciated
Thanks,
Oli

make sure you got i9100 not any other varient
does other O2 in your area got ICS via KIES
odin is fine and will not void warrenty aslong you dont root and flash back the ROM you have now. you have to find this ROM first if you want to go back.

what do you mean by this?
also is there an official rom for my particular S2 that can be updated using odin? or even an unofficial one that wont void warranty?
thanks for all the help guys
This Thread has instructions and official ICS.
Plz note that this is official and will have TouchWiz and does look extremely similar to Gingerbread and without root and custom theme you will not get that ICS feel. You will however get most of the goodies that ICS has to offer.
I got my S2 on contract from O2 about 4 days ago, instantly went home and found out I was eligible to upgrade to ICS officially via kies.
Well that's not exactly true you upgrade if their is an upgrade for your exact phone .
Kies has firmware for GT-i9100KAO2U product code .
I have been on kies and connected my phone every day since, and I keep getting told I have the latest version (2.3.5), even though I've seen countless threads/comments of people delighted about the fact they upgraded through kies!
But not for your phones product code which obviously does not match the released O2 firmware .O2 may well and probably over twelve months had more than one phone for sale unless contract has different codes to PAYG .
Standard older O2 UK firmware for xxx Product codes is on Kies its also on this forum in a legitimate flash via Odin .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
legitimate O2 firmware not stock Samsung tested and works on O2 .
Or you can go to Google find CHECKFUS and try to download from your codes .
jje
you still didnt confirm if you have i9100P which i think you have but i could'nt find the Stock ROM your running now, so you can go back to it later if required.
if you have i9100P this thread has good news for you though the actuall thread is stupid and useless...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24030713
i think what happened to u is you got the model which is i9100P not the usuall i9100, thus all on normal model are on ICS and you still on GB. you can wait for it to come or use the i9100 ROM's but please search if that is actually possible.

finally, if i update like this, will i be able to update officially through kies when the update is finally released for me?
no im not covering my self...... i tell you in points....
1: you got I9100P on O2 for which i cant find a firmware for.
2: because you cant go back to your old firmware which is O2 you will get into warrenty problems

here are your options if you still want to continue.
1: you can flash stock firmware for i9100.
2: you can flash custom firmware
3: you can flash O2 branded firmware for i9100.
but in all cases NFC wont work by default.
plus now you cant go back to O2 i9100P firmware as it cannot be found anywhere... atleast by me.

First of all, we're not geeks; we're technical enthusiasts!
Second of all, as JJe said correctly, the button was probably removed by the carrier, you are at.
Third of all, you can always download frimware from here incase you don't have the OTA button
*OTA = Over the Air

I very much doubt your phone is broken/defect or what ever, I'd say go to sammobile.com/firmware and download the latest firmware you can find
Or, if you never have, try flashing a custom ROM, they're definitly worth a try! We've got some developers here, that should be prominent!

I am guessing you are with orange. Or maybe t-mobile as they are both one now. Your phone is not faulty and it is your service provider (orange/ t-mobile) who have disabled the updates option. I am in the same situation. You can either ring your service provider to give you an unbranded phone or flash the rom as suggested.
yeah, just flash some unbranded ROM available for you phone, I did exacly this and now I am FREE of carriers logos and other stuff, they should't control our lives, dam operators..

It doesn't really matter what ROM you use. The only difference is, is that you then have all the carrier crap on your phone. If you can, find the latest version for Europe/No carrier and flash that.
I mean, I live in Germany and I flash the European ones alll the time on other phones, because their fed up of all that bloatware on their phones.
But, I'd suggest trying out some custom ROMs. Personally, I'm using CarHD ROM v6 for my Galaxy S 4 (I9505), it use TWiz, but it's themed. Looks real awesome, though.
On my GS III, I at first had stock Telekom Germany, then I flashed Android Revolution HD - Wasn't happy with it at all after a week of use, constant lag and battery life was terrible (Please don't use this as an argument not to flash the ROM. The lagginess and battery life is relative, as it differes from user to user, as we all have different habbits of using our phones!), then I had Paranoid Android, CM10 and so on.. The last ROM I had on it was MIUI. I stuck with that until I got my new phone - Which was about half a year.
So, if you want my personal opinion, go check out MIUI, whether you choose the CM-based version or the official download from http://miuiandroid.com - It's your choice. In all the time I was using that ROM, using it rather heavily, my battery lasted just over a day and I never had any form of lag, whether it be in games like Hill Climb Racing or graphics-intense games like Asphalt 6. They all worked perfectly fine.

[Q] Why Samsung is so slow to release the updated S3??

It's been almost a month since left the ROM for Poland, and so far, just over 35 ROMs were released. Why so long? I'm in Brazil, here not even launched the Galaxy Note II already out and upgrade to Jelly Bean. Meanwhile, no sign of Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S3 in Brazil.
I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong place for my question.
Sorry for my English.
The Brazilian JB for S III might not be released until late January or Febrary.
Yet, when it is released, it will not be the latest version of JB, but one that is older than what other countries will have by then.
For your information, the Brazilian CSCs are: ZTA (Claro), ZTV (Vivo), ZTO (open / unbranded), ZTM (Tim) and ZVV (Oi).
You don't need, however, to wait for Samsung Brasil to do us a favor: just flash the UK unbranded (CSC -> BTU) ROM, using Odin3 and don't worry about it again.
All stock ICS and JB contains all languages (including Pt-BR) and the ROM I mentioned works flawlessly in Brazil. I am using it right now.

I know i could install any ROM ever released. But i do not want to put another ROM on my Galaxy S3. I want to keep it as original as possible. I had a Galaxy S2 before S3, and installed an uninstalled all ROMs as possible, but in my Galaxy S3 want to keep it original. I know it will not install official ROMs increment the counter. What i do no understand is why they are taking so long.
But i appreciate your explanation.
Thank you

Does your carrier have any kind of restriction for rooting and flashing your cellphone? If not, it's pretty much irrelevant what your binary counter says.
You can always reset the binary counter to 0 and set system to official using Triangle away if you're worried about warranty.

Why? What is the point of that?
You'll just have a device that is always outdated and with uncorrected bugs.

Hello, sorry for the (a bit) irrelevant question but does flashing through Odin the UK unbranded one (while I have another country's official ROM unmodified), increase my counter or ruin my warranty?

No. Install original ROM does not increment the counter.

I know, I just want to leave it as original as possible. On my Galaxy S2 I always installed by Odin ROMs without any problem and reset the counter with Triangle Away. But I really want to use the Jelly Bean, I'll install the ROM UK.
thank you

No, it doesn't. If you need to RMA the phone, just flash the ROM for your carrier/country and it's as original as it gets and THERE IS NO WAY they can find out you ever had a different ROM in there.
Do you do any changes to the rom? LIke CSC or modem?

[Q] need note 2 (n7100) stock rom

Hey everyone. Ive tried a few roms and after dealing with my fair share of quirks, i want to go back to the stock rom.
I know that sammlobile has them but there is a problem....i live in the USA and they dont have any roms listed for my region that i can find.
I have an unlocked galaxy note 2 (gt-n7100) rooted and i have clockwork recovery. I just cant find the stock rom for the united states.
Does it even matter? Lets say i download the one for jamacia....would it work just the same?
Thanks all! Feel free to look on sammobile for yourself. If you find a n7100 rom for the USA id love a link. Im using straight talk (att) if that matters.

I think it don't have any Stock firmware for USA because this phone (n7100) is not for USA (in US they have different version of note 2 like i317 and so on), you will never find any STOCK ROM for USA.
So, I will suggest you to find which Country your phone originally belongs and try to flash ROM for that country.
Also, you can try this link for more details - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801046&postcount=1

Is there a way to tell where my phone came from so I get the right thing? I have cyanogenmod on it right now.

I think, you wont brick your phone by downloading the wrong region ROM. You can put any version from any country only if your phone model is N7100.
Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong.
