Considering T-Mobile to use on ATT - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I have seen other threads but my question is a little different. On my T-Mobile Note 3 using on ATT it would not connect to the Free ATT Wifi hotspots. Will the TMO S5?

It will if you flash a AT&T rom. I don't know exactly what AT&T checks. It could be the model number, IMEI, sim card, even an app installed on the phone. But the best bet would be to install an ATT rom.

Considering the ATT device isn't rooted I'm not sure what you could flash. I don't see anything in the ATT rom sections. They would have to flash an international one.

I have one and haven't tried it yet. I do have the AT&T Hotspot app installed. I'll try it when I get a chance.

You're probably best just buying one outright and getting a separate data plan, there seems to be something about the US that means no network touches anything unless it's an exclusive...

Someone has to have an answer for this and XDA needs a thread on the T-Mobile SGH-T859 10.1 4G version.

US Cellular GS3

I am thinking about switching to US Cellular and getting the GS3 from them. Is the GS3 rooted yet? Is the bootloader locked or unlocker?

I would love to know this as well, as I am ditching VZW for this phone on USCC. Better signal, customer service where I live. I hope there is going to be support for this version of the phone.
Indeed, U.S. Cellular is king in Wisconsin!
I'm going to dump Sprint for an S3 on US Cellular. I too am interested whether I will be able to root.
I saw on TeamUSCellular.com that there may be a $100 billing credit starting on July 16th.
I have the USCC GS3 (SCH-R530) and rooted it via the method used for Sprint phones. Works great!

I have US Cellular and i have the GS3 phone. I also wanted to root my phone but didn't know which version to use. Did any of you got a custom rom installed on the US Cellular phone yet. I would imagine that you could use any rom for that i guess. Any experiances with that anyone ???

can we install a sprint note 2 rom (touchwiz) on the i605?

i understand that the sprint n2 data partition is different, but if we changed that mount point within the install script could we feasibly install it and it work after we flashed the config file as well? i know this is probably a dumb question, but it was one that came to my mind after venturing off into the sprint n2 forum. thanks!
Not unless you intend on using your device... I think developers can help put those features on another device, if it isn't for your model, don't flash. You'll save yourself tons of headaches.

i figured so.. damn, i was hoping it was possible by pointing the data mount in updater script to where the i605s data partition is located

Actually, I was reading up this morning about AT&T ROMs on the Verizon Note 2 and it is not only doable, but also works pretty well. When done from what I just said (Flashing AT&T to Verizon) you are obviously locked out from Verizon and 4G LTE but if you have an AT&T or any GSM SIM for that matter it will work. The only real issue is GPS not working, for some reason our devices don't like the GPS setup from any ROM's other than Verizon's.

Mike.
Some of us have not switched to att from vzw.
Gps not working happens on some unlucky T0ltevzw roms, also.
The end user doesn't want borked modems on lte.
Yes, I know it has an hspa+ modem...

same thing happens with t-mobile too. somehow there has to be a way to get the att/tmo roms working on the i605. the t0lte roms work on the i605, so why the hell won't the att/tmobile?
So can someone confirm or disagree that flash a T-Mobile or International Note2 CM ROM to the Verizon Note 2? Is a good idea if I want to completely shout off the Verizon Radios and only use GSM?

Metropcs Galaxy s5

Hey guys, I'm new to all this flashing roms stuff and I have a question . I have the MetroPCS Galaxy s5 and the model number is G900T1 but there are practically no roms for metropcs so I was wondering if I can flash the tmobile roms on my metropcs device due to the fact metropcs and tmobile are basically the same the Tmobile model number is G900T as you see there's only one difference between the model numbers and that's the 1 in metros model number so please HELP
I am running the T-Mobile Stock rom on my MetroPCS version GS5. The only difference is that I needed to change the APN from fast.tmobile.com to fast.metropcs.com. Everything works flawlessly.
Didn't wanna wanna make new thread since this is just a basic question. Is anyone on metro pcs using the galaxy s5? I'm using their basic 40 dollar plan which gives me 500 mb of 4g. My question is I turned off the lte service but even though I was using 3g it still used my 500 mb of lte data, does anyone know anything about this, or is turning of 4g not an option on this phone?

Whether your on LTE or HSPA, it is still considered 4G and will use your data. The only way to not use the data allotment is to be on WiFi.

I didn't. I went straight for the tar ball and used ODIN to flash. I then used the ODIN rooting method.

MetroPCS is owned by T-Mobile. The 1 after the G900T is the only factor that makes them different. They both have the download booster feature as well as wifi calling and HD Voice. Flashing roms on the G900T1 will be compatible with G900T (T-Mobile) Roms as well as MOST G900F Roms, I have a T-Mobile S5 on an international Rom. Everything will be good.

Hey, Have a question.
Im hoping someone can tell me if i can use the Latest T-Mobile TWRP Recovery on the MetroPCS Galaxy S5, and if the MetroPCS DEFINITELY comes with the Bootloader UNLOCKED, im pretty sure it is UNLOCKED but figuard to ask just to be on the safe side, i dont want to go and brick my Cousins New S5 (SM-G900T1),, thanks in advance.
firmwares and modems
I should be fine to flash modems and firmwares from tmobile on my meto gs5 right? same towers....?
G thanks lol
Incase anyone else was wondering you can. But you have to change apns
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-900TI for Metro PCS which I have unlocked. I am currently using this on T Mobile and want to change the apn settings to those for t mobile. When I add the settings and save then pick the t mobile settings the phone revert back to the metro pcs apn settings. How do I ensure that the t mobile are used? Should I be doing something else?
(I change the apn settings from the settings>more networks>apn names>add apn menu option)
Can someone please give me some suggestions?

Is there something wrong with VZN Note 2s?

Hi Guys,
I was looking to purchase this phone off of ebay for my mom. We are on the t-mobile network but since VZN Note 2s are supposed to be unlocked I was looking at them too. However, I'm looking at them and there are quite a few Verizon Note 2s around/under $200 on Ebay. Is that where the phones value is now? I thought they would be around $250 at least. The one thing all of these have in common are that they are the Verizon models. The tmobile models are still pretty high. Is there something wrong with this model? Are these like those fake chinese clones? Or is the value just at that and I should buy it ASAP? I don't want to throw money down for some random clone

Sorry, I'm still a bit of a noob, Does that just mean that custom software can't be installed on it? Like I said my mom is going to be using it so it will probably stay on stock.
Correct, no custom roms or root...depending on what version the phone comes with. What did you mean in your op when you said 'unlocked'?

Step one in that guide says 'ensure your phone has root' That is game over if the note 2 has the latest update. You can't root it.

What about Method 1? Or is that not possible at all cause its a custom rom?
Method 1:
See Adrynalyne's post below (Post #2) for a flashable mod (via custom recovery) that will enable the Add APN menu by removing Verizon's block. (For deodexed roms only)

That requires a deoxed rom, so the note would have to be bootloader unlocked and had a deoxed rom flashed.

Yes they are sim unlocked all you have to do is pop the sim in and add the correct apn's although you'll only get 3g and H+ (no 4G lte)

No offense to that guy but he's wrong bc I and many other put their Verizon note 2 on other carriers with no issues (see forums like note 2 on other carriers there plenty of them)
Now as far as the whole bootloader deal goes for custom rom and root depending on the android version but just to use it stock on another carrier it's sim card unlocked out of the box no root or custom rom needed
I had my Verizon note 2 with a locked bootloader android 4.3 on straight talk (att sim) for months no problems
