Hi I report a simillar issue to sony support 2 days ago. I understand that you need to modify of your external sd card within your explorer application. Here I have re: from sony support:
We would like to inform you that in Androidâ„¢ version 4.4 (KitKat) third-party apps can only change SD card content that belongs to that app. If you, for example, want to move content on the SD card using Astro File Manger, it doesn't work in Android version 4.4 (KitKat).
This is a change introduced by Google. We cannot estimate whether this will be changed in future updates. In Android 4.4.2 Google has revised the usage of the SD card for third-party applications.
While downloaded third-party applications can read and open all compatible content on your SD card, they can not:
- create folders on the SD card
- copy or move contents on the SD card
- personalize the location of data on the SD card
Please note that preinstalled system applications still have full access to the SD card.
In coming software releases of Android 4.4, the File Commander file manager app will be preinstalled. Using the preinstalled File Commander, you will be able to edit, copy and move files belonging to any app (full read- and write-access to the SD card).

I think that with rooting your tablet and installing sdfix or xposed framework will fix your problem .....but you void your warranty

Jupp, thinking about selling my z2 as is already full 2 months after purchase

You need to 'trick' the file system into thinking your Ogg and or Android data directories are on the SD card.
Relinking manually via terminal, or using Foldermount both which require root is how it's done.

Yeah that's not possible .Its how it is....only apk move to SD card not the app data. You shud just root and then use Folder mount
Low end phones are much better with root access

HELP.!!!!!!!
How can i move pre-installed apps to sd card??? My phone is rooted...
pre installed apps are usually placed in system folder
the updates of those apps can be moved to sd card using link2sd
in order to move the entire app to sd card, the system app should be converted to user app
heard about another app called folder mount with about the same usage, but personally haven't tried it yet
Movable with 4.4 api
0ok friends..i have read somewhere that app data can be moved if they are using the 4.4 api..
and i have installed frontline commando d day(mod)..its one single apk with the data, and it installed to sd card without using any internal memory.if anyone know how to make these apk please tell me or any games that are moving to sd card..fully...
plz inform.
Hi people I have a question >> can Whatsapp be transferred to external sdcard...and if yes then do all images and videos share on whatsapp get stored on external sd or internal sd... kindly let me know...accordingly I may decide to purchase the phone.

Thinking of upgrading sd card...does FAT allow more than 4GB on new standard

what is the typical file size for a typical file
ALSO can I simply copy and paste from the old to the new sd card, if some apps function off my external (ie cloud services) and expect programs to recognize all my data on my external card no problem?
Or is organizing, cleaning up syncs (ie maybe permissions change with a new card) a longer process than that?

Not sure but your apps on sd card not surely gonna be copied unless you copy the .androidsecure folder from sd which is hidden on Media and Camera usb modes. You can copy it by using UMS mode.
It can be changed using an app but it requires root. On very old devices this is the default mode. all your data are likely to be preserved. BUT IF CAUSE OF ANY OR ALL DATA LOSS, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE. And, plus don't copy from sd to sd. copy from sd to pc and from pc to sd. Better if you use a card reader which is also gonna show you the .androidsecure folder removing the need of anything. HIT THANKS IF I HELPED
or am i misunderstanding your question?
So your saying as long as I copy the hidden folder I'm good?
Also what Android version are you talking about? ICS file system VERY different from 4.1.2 and Kitkat

[Q] Any way to install app in sd card?

Hi,
Is there any way to install app in externel sd card in Xperia Z Ultra. I am on Android 4.4.4. and using SDXC card at 85MB/s.
I tried to install my previously downloaded apps and copy the data in externel sd card. But after installation in settings/apps it is showing that app is installed and also showing the full size (apk + data) but at the time of launching it starts to download data to my internal disk. Sorry for my bad english.

Me too +1.
I use Exposed module OBB on sd and manually move apps obb and data folder to sd card, most game from gameloft work and even bard's tale that use only data folder run just fine on my exFat 64gb card. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-obb-sd-v0-1-t2884004
Already tried it on stock, miu HD, unofficial carbon ROM
Thanks ,
Folder mount is also working. Now the question is which one is better?
Folder mount is a lot more flexible option than obb on sd, especially when dealing with app that download extra data like music on Spotify. 4 of my heaviest game already take 10GB+ space, so obb on sd does suit my need at the moment. It does come down to preference and personal need.
Haven't tried LP Rom yet, so folder mount might be an only option if ZU sd problem still around

In Lp same problem is there, I tried gpe port just for this reason and found the same problem. Also performance is also low. And no Sony apps so reverted back to stock.
Folder mount might work, but exposed app like obb on sd is useless on LP due to the default runtime being ART
Still patiently waiting LP Rom (will stay on StoneUI for now), and thanks for the heads up on gpe port sd problem

[Q] Access to SD card in android lollipop

Hi, i updated my Xperia Z2 to android lollipop and i can move my apps to external SD card via 3rd part app2sd application, but i couldn't copy any file from internal memory to SD card (audio file for example). any solution please...Thank you...
Its a good move...

Are external SD cards mostly unusable with Android 5.0.2?

Device: Moto E 2015
Android: 5.0.2
Coming from android 4.0 I could manage files on my external SD card using Windows Explorer, AirDroid, or any 3rd party file manager.
Now that I'm using 5.0.2 I cannot manage files on the external SD card using any of those methods. The SD card has over 14 gigs free. The card is formatted and works as Google pushed over my photos and music from the internal SD card fine.
Another problem is I can't move any apps to the SD card. With android 4.0 I could push an app like iBird Pro to the external SD card. Now when I try to push that app to the external SD card it claims there is not enough space. Android storage shows there is over 14 gb free and iBird Pro is under 1 gb.
It would appear that 5.0.2 is a total wreck when trying to make use of the external sd card. *sigh* I hear rumors that M may fix this... if the Moto E 2015 happens to get that update.
You can transfer media to your SD, transfer some apps to SD (if they allow it) But SD write permissions have been a PIA since 4.4.X, so hopefully M does sort it all out.

So basically useless right now. I manage my own media content in a structure I like. Sad. Hopefully M will fix this mess.
Still trying to write to the external sd card. Latest developments.
Moto E 2015
Android 5.0.2
Windows 8.1
Trying to transfer files or create folders on the external SD card in my Moto E 2nd Gen. causes the following error:
"The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected."
What I can do:
Delete folders
Read
Copy from sd card to Windows
What throws the error:
Creating a folder
Copying files to the sd card
On the device itself I cannot get any file manager to write to the external sd card. Apps that try to setup write permissions to the sd card fail. Android itself was able to move photos and music to the sd card when I inserted it into the phone. If I try to move any app to the SD card it says there is not enough space. It has 14gb free.
I finally tried using another computer. The other system is Windows 7 and I was able to created folders and copy files to the external sd card in the phone.
Back to my main system (Windows 8.1) I used USBDeview and cleared ALL usb drivers. Reconnected keyboard and mouse. Then plugged in the phone... same behavior. I have also tried installing Motorola's driver suite and have the same result. I have tried various USB ports on my motherboard both USB 2 and 3.
I'm at loss of what to try next, besides a blunt object to both devices repeatedly.
And I may have just fixed the problem of moving apps to the external SD card.
I erased the card while it was still in the phone. I did this the first time I put it in. I choose NOT to have Android copy over music and photos. Now I can move apps over to the SD card.
However, when trying to create a folder on the SD card from Windows Explorer it just hangs: SD card (Not Responding). It does show "New Folder" after terminating file explorer and looking at the SD card again. And now.... I can rename the folder, create folders, and copy files to the SD card... wtf.
Perhaps the SD card is bad, it is incredibility inconsistent.

I have a 2nd Gen Moto G with Android 5.0.2 and I'm trying to move apps to the SD card as well. I'm a bit confused as to what steps you followed. Are you saying that BECAUSE you erased the SD card and chose not to have Android copy music and photos that you can now move apps to the card? Or are you saying that since reversing your decision and allowing Android to copy over music and photos (and possibly reformatting your erased card?) that you can now move apps to the card? And can you transfer any apps or only certain apps? Are you doing this on your phone or on your computer?
I can transfer certain apps to my SD card on the phone. And using the computer and Windows Explorer I can create a new folder on the SD card. I'm just not sure what steps to take next to transfer the apps to the card, or what impact there might be on data or functionality.
