[Q] sound options in moto e - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have both moto e and moto g
In moto e, when I receive a call, the ringtone starts at a lower volume and then ascends in volume. Also the volume is not as loud as compared to moto g with similar setting.
I'm using inbuilt ringtone - moto in both phones.
My doubt is whether it is normal in moto e to have low volumes. Also, is there a way to remove ascending volumes, and instead make the ringing at high volumes from the start of the call.
Thanks

I think is a software issue. My Moto E does the same and I saw some days ago a post here in XDA of people reporting the same issue.
Maybe they will fix this bug witb 4.4.3, but yes, it's quite annoying

In moto e speakers comes in front side so that sudden increase of volume may cause stress to some people to avoid this moto e build with ascending ringtone.
to solve this problem use disable increasing ring app

Open build.prop from system folder and change call ring delay=0 then problem will be fixed.

Caller can't hear me!

Received a refurbished certified like new Droid Razr and everything is perfect except one basic thing, when I place a call or when I answer a call the person on the other end can't hear me at all. I can hear them just fine but they can't hear me. Can this be fixed or is it a lemon phone and should I return it?

Try a full wipe or a factory reset. If you have still this problem, contact your operator or Motorola...
I took it in...a software upgrade fixed it. Lost my root and no wifi tether will not work....luckily i found the non-rooted wifi app, so life is good.

I've had that problem twice in one day. I found that a reboot of the phone each time fixed it. Haven't had it happen again since. Still not sure what caused it or if it will ever come back.
I have the same problem, reboot didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?
hi , the microphone doesn't work only during a call ?
Did you tried if the voice search and the record voice are working ?

Lol oups i missed that the battery is unremovable
If even with a stock rom the problem persists it's that the microphone is out of service...
I have the same issue with my MAXX... ICS 4.04 went back to stock SAME issue... Went back to ICS 4.04 all fresh installs. Same issue. If i yell into the phone you can hear me, speaker phone you can hear a little more of me when i talk. Other then that the people i call cannot hear a dang word im saying. Stupid stupid cheap Microphones installed in these! Looks like ill be calling Verizon and getting another MAXX to bad i have a limited one right now and wont be able to get a new limited one :-(
Maybe limited means "limited ability for anyone to hear me". Maybe you don't want that 1.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
I wouldn't call it a cheap microphone motorola has the best microphones for voice quality of any phone today. perhaps you could call it fragile, but i wouldn't even say that, I've seen only one other person report a mic hardware problem on the net. i think maybe you're one of the few unlucky ones who got a dud. just go get it fixed under warranty
Had this problem once, reboot fixed it for me!
You can also try using one of those compressed air cans to blow out the mics and headphone jack.

[Q] Top Speaker Noticeably Quieter Than Bottom Speaker

Hey guys...So I've searched the forums and the interwebs trying to find if anyone else has this issue, but the top speaker on my HTC One is significantly quieter than the lower speaker. It also is super quiet when talking on the phone, as in I have to be in a quiet room and the phone forcibly pressed against my ear in the right place for me to hear anyone. This happens across different ROMs leading me to believe it's a hardware issue, but I was just curious if anyone else has encountered this and found a fix?
Have the same experience. No clue if it's normal or not. Doesn't seem to be too huge of a deal when held from a distance.
True, but the phone call quietness is what kills me.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
I have also noticed this, although for me it doesn't affect the volume of my calls that significantly, so I don't know if mine is just not as bad as yours, or what. But yeah, it's weird. Kinda defeats the purpose of the whole "stereo speaker" thing...

No, I didn't touch anything. I was so happy that it's finally gone, so I dare not make any changes afraid that it might came back, but alas, some moments later is its back.
I think mine is hardware speakers problems.

I just got this issue. I have never experienced it before. I turned off X-Loud, increasing ringtone and rebooted and ironically the sound level is back to normal.
This thing just re-appeared over night. So I missed the alarm this morning because of it as the sound level was terribly low. Reboot and volumes are back to normal. This seems like a nasty bug.

I don't know if it's related or not but when you have "touch sounds" enabled the volume of the touch sound differs greatly occasionally. Sometimes it's like half the normal volume. It's very inconsistent too. These things might be related.
Also.... issue.
I am Also having issue.
I thought my volume got small after update but......
the phone is hard time choosing ear speaker or louad spaeker at bottom when I try to play music or video.....
Sad......
I also hate hissing sound coming from loud speaker whenever I press link or icon or appp... arrrrrggg

Actually when the sound is playing from ear piece, you could just drag the Notification bar and switch between Notification and Quick Setting. I know sounds ridiculous but it works without restart.

Repeat No Audio Issue

Hello everyone,
I've been having issues with my LG G5. I've updated it to Android 7 with the last OTA update from tmo. I keep having this random issue where there is no sound at all. It simply ceases.
When I get calls, the ringtone doesn't play.
If I pick up a call coming in, I do hear the caller without issue.
While on a call, the speaker does work.
The speaker does work when playing a music app (Rocket Player was used).
So, it appears that the notification and ringtone audio ceases.
I have changed the sound profile to ensure it is on Sound and not Silent or Vibrate.
I have made sure the volume is up all the way with each slider.
I've tested with disabling Call Settings like VoLTE which gave me issues on previous phones.
Wi-Fi, BT, NFC, GPS, and other features are off.
Wi-Fi Calling is disabled.
Do Not Disturb is disabled.
Anyone having similar issues?
What us an easy way to provide a list of apps?
Thank you,
Johnathan

No, it hasn't gotten wet and is only exposed to air moisture.
Last night while at the house, I was texting and while doing so, it stopped providing notification sounds. The volume was up all the way as it normally is. A reboot brought them back.

You don't need root for it. But here's where you need to go. READ it before going foward! Instructions all there. Not hard at all to do. Ask questions there if you need help. Once you do it once, it's a breeze after that.

Bluetooth crackling/static

Is anyone else having an issue when streaming music via Bluetooth? It sounds like static/crackling, kinda like the audio is being clipped at the higher end.
I just got the phone on Monday so I have time to try and exchange it if it could be a bad phone. Just not sure if it is a common issue or not.
Sent from my VS988 using Tapatalk
It could also be your Bluetooth device. try yhe device with other phones and see if the static persists. make sure you test 1 to 3 songs across the devices and make sure the songs are the same.

I too came from a V10. my V10 had plenty of problems, my Beats Solo 2 wireless would crack a lot, as well as my Jaybirds x2. once I got my G6 the only cracking I got was when I stepped out of rage. anyways I'm just saying to test things out with multiple devices, multiple Bluetooth devices would be ideal as well. don't just quickly assume it's not something. doesn't matter if it's a car or not tech is tech and some of it may be defected.

I can try other things but so far it does the exact same thing in my car and my wife's car. I am fairly certain it is related to the phone.

Just tried it with one of my Bluetooth speakers and I get the same issue. It almost seems like the more stuff connected to Bluetooth the worse it is.
So far it seems like it isn't as bad when I am not wearing my smart watch. I might try it with my fit bit disconnected too to test that theory.

I haven't had any issues with BT on my VS988.
So i just exchanged the phone for a new oneand have the same issue. It is definitely something related to the phoneand how it handles bluetooth because my V10 with the same apps and devices doesn't have this issue.

I had the same problem and exchanged phones –after adding things Lil by Lil I had the same issue and narrowed it down to my Samsung smart watch - when I disabled the watch or the gear software it would stream fine – after a lil while with phone I'm realizing it is VERY VERY VERY BUGGY and VERY VERY VERY SLOW and Verizon's service is too

Yea, it somehow seems related to my watch too (Huawei), but I am not sure if it is the watch or just the fact that it is always using the Bluetooth as well.

It does kinda suck, but I have a feeling it has to do with Android Wear app. So I think at some point I am going to do a factory reset and only install apps that don't use Bluetooth at all and then keep installing one at a time to see if I can narrow it down.

Definitely share your results. I sold my Nexus 6p or I would do some more testing as well.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the phone's bluetooth. It happens to me when connected to my Android Wear watch. If I turn off my watch, the crackling stops.
Yea, I am pretty positive it is Android Wear/Smart Watch related. I unpaired my watch from my phone and uninstalled Android Wear and the issue seems gone.
Weird.
EDIT: Nevermind, it's still there, it was better for a while.

LG & Verizon (SMH)
The Bluetooth is TERIBLE on these phones - The BLE doesn't work and too many devices paired (especially smart watches) messing up streaming something Awful. There are MANY software bugs especially using google music and many other programs/apps - the longer you use the phone to more the bugs will standout, but in LG's defense they have issued a software update, but with Verizon there's Really No Telling when will get it (if we get it)
