Hit the top link in my sig and go to the section on RUU's. At the bottom of the first post I have links to all applicable RUU's for the EVO LTE. Easiest thing would be to run one of them if you want to get back to stock. If you want to go back to being S-on and stock, use VipeRUU.

Thanks Magnum
Using the VipeRUU was supper easy and quick. Back to stock off to sell.:good:

Not a problem. Just remember that the RUU is run from your computer. Connect your phone and PC via USB cable, and once the connection is complete double-click the RUU file to start the installer. You may need to install HTC Sync so that you have the proper drivers installed on your computer. It takes about 10-15 minutes for the RUU to run, so be patient. VipeRUU is a little bit different. When you double-click the file to start the process, it will bring up a menu with options in it for you to choose from. It's pretty straightforward, though.

I've run VipeRUU a few times, but the bootloader stays unlocked. Anyone have any suggestions to get it back to a "Locked" state? I'm S-OFF, HBOOT 2.09.

I don't believe that will work being S-off (I've tried it before just for kicks and it didn't do anything). Even if it did, the bootloader would show the tampered and unlocked warning.

HTC Unlock tool OTA 2.17.651.5

Hey everyone, I am unable to unlock my bootloader after accepting this OTA. I just got an EVO 3D yesterday and I updated it as soon as I got it. I first checked to see if it was an HBOOT below 1.5, it wasn't so I went ahead and updated. However when i get to step 12 i believe on the htc dev site, I flash the unlock_code.bin and nothing happens just sits there. I read around and found people saying you need to take the 2.08 RUU, I tried that and when it gets to the black HTC screen I get an error 140. I was so excited to get this phone and already downloaded the rom i wanted before owning it. If someone can please help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks

Same here.
The same RUU I used to revert to the .2sw update to unlock two other evo3d's with hboot 1.5, will not work. Im unbelievably frustrated right now as Ive been sitting at this computer for over three hours. Please, if you find a way to downgrade your software, please let me know. thanks
not sure why you wanted to be on hboot 1.50. but shouldnt be a problem to unlock the bootloader, since it was just minor updates and still on hboot 1.50. id just try doing the process again.
i unlocked mine with unlock_code.bin that i used when i rooted my evo 3d for 1st time.....it worked fine.
Tried 5 times and failed..

I didn't want to be on hboot 1.5, I wanted to be below it. But when I first got my phone I checked the bootloader and was already at 1.5. If it was below that I would've been rooted right now...
to be a bit more clear it was hboot 1.5 with an OTA 2.08 when I first received the phone.

1st Check you bootloader .What it says at the top .(locked/unlocked/relocked) if it says unlocked you do not need unlock_code.bin.
Try these from step 13:

You can flash another recovery in step 18 .....

That's the guide I used to HTC Unlock. Video helped. There is a post somewhere about needing to Re-flash the stock RUU.exe or Ruu.zip (renamed to PG86IMG.zip) to get the phone past the "nothing happens" step where you're supposed to get the "unlock" option screen on the phone. I haven't seen the 651.5 released as a complete RUU, but you could probably flash the 651.3 RUU, finish the HTC unlock and then run the 651.5 update. Heck, the unlock would probably work after the update, idk for sure.
I have some links and my issue with this below.

I have some tools and files for you to use that will give you temp root and allow a downgrade to 2.08.651.2 rom, hboot will still be 1.50 though. However from there you should be able to unlock via HTCdev method. I gotta upload the files and write the code which I will post up here in a second. I hope you are ok with using adb and fastboot.

A little help please

I just completed the HTCdev unlock, and now I'm going to flash meanrom. My question is, if I flash an earlier version of meanrom, can I use that to get S-OFF? I'm on .3 now, instead of the required .1. (I think that's the correct versions, not for sure.
You need to use lazypanda to get s-off. And it only works if you're still on version 1.13. If you've updated to 1.22.651.3 then you can't get s-off

Okay. I have the dev unlocked, ROM downloaded, can you link me to a recovery? I'm just getting back into this since my OG evo, haven't rooted for over a year. Need to get the swing of things. I haven't seen a link to a recovery I can use, so is there a guide for that? I need to be able to flash MeanROM, and all I've done so far is unlocked the bootloader with HTCDev.
After going through all of this and soft bricking my phone and getting a new one cuz I was too lazy to unbrick it, here is my advice:
After u root the phone, do nothing more than use the lazypanda method via Windows. DO NOT INSTALL ANY ROM ON YOUR PHONE TILL AFTER U LAZYPANDA UNLOCK!!! This is just my experience. What happened to me was just like everybody else, it reset and went black screen and was stuck in the diagnostic mode, and unable to turn back on.

HTC Dev unlocked is not the same as Lazy Panda S-OFFed ~ they are distinct and separate scenarios.
Unless someone here has pulled off more "magic" the new OTA with hboot 1.15 blocks the exploits of the last rev of Lazy Panda, so you can have one or another, unfortunately.

[Q] Can't get back to stock, worried I bricked my phone!

First off, I've gone through thread after thread hoping to find an answer, but simply have not.
I rooted my phone back in July and don't remember which method I used. I need to get my phone back to stock for warranty (I have a dead strip on my screen) and before I thought, I used SU to get back to S-On, but now I can't get back to stock.
I've tried to run various RUU's, more specifically regaw's version among others, but I haven't had any success. Every time I run an RUU it says that my phone is not connected to my computer. I've also downloaded the PJ75IMG and tried that method as well, but nothing happens.

Got the correct firmware, started the process no problem. Now I've got an Error [155]: Unknown and that's as far as it'll take me. I've tried multiple times, and nothing happens. When the phone is supposed to restart it just sits there as if nothing happened to it at all. The RUU instructed me to restart the phone and do the recovery through the program. Once through, it says that I should now try to start the RUU again. and the same thing happens. Am I missing something here?

Rooting my phone

I want to root my phone badly and install cyanagenmod 10.2 on my rezound. But I'm afraid to, I mean I've read everything and I'm pretty sure I could do it easily, but it just scares me of bricking my phone, I upgrade sometime this year, should I wait till I upgrade? And by the way, if I do, do it, its on a Mac...

There's very little if any chance of bricking unless you go S-Off. Keep it S-On and you'll always be able to recover to stock as long as you have a PC (something that works with Fastboot such as Windows or Ubuntu) and the latest RUU
Thank you, I've read that multiple times, but should I wait till I go for a upgrade? Or would you say root it sometime soon? And is it possible on mac though... I have the SDK, and all the necessary stuff on my mac, or at least I think...

ruu requires s-off bud...also if you soft brick while s-on there is no fix what so ever...all soft brick fixes work in s-off only.....but yes you actually root via a custom recovery on the rez...if s-on all you have to do is fastboot flash said recovery which i can link you to and run the su installer

Really it depends on the hboot and radios his phone is on, right? Bc say he were on the global leak 2.27 hboot with 2.22 radios he could still apply that ruu. However if on 2.28 hboot with 2.23 radios there technically is no official ruu so would need have be s_off..

he could fastboot to 2.28 without that provided OTA fille...ruu is actually an exe program... but i suggest against it honestly....but if downgrading at all requires s-off....he can root without s-off and flash roms....so long as he does use s-on instructions....(which to be honest s-on users have a harder time flashing custom roms for the reason of having to fastboot all the time)
Plus S-Off is so easy now... No wire trick

I guess what the OP needs is some words of encouragement so let me just say this : unlocking the bootloader through HTC dev will not brick your phone, flashing a custom recovery will not brick your phone, flashing a custom rom will not brick your phone, getting the most out of your rezound will not brick your phone. Btw happy new year everybody

Sorry about that, I've read so many forum's, but I just haven't gotten to do it, or afraid of doing it, I know unlock bootloader and so on so forth... But after that... I know the HTC developers website provides a way for you to unlock the boot loader which allows you to install a custom ROM but I've seen other people do it differently, I've heard mac88 has a great one on rooting HTC rezound, but its supposed to have pictures but it was taken down... Or at least the pictures and I suck at reading it and doing it sometimes... I do better by seeing... Any help for a noob guys... Please help..

Here ya go! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2585885 Much easier than the Juopunut s-off which requires Linux and the use of a wire to short out contacts on your phone.
Edit: Of course you need to be unlocked and rooted, and have a custom rom and kernel already installed to use this method. So it may not be easier for you.

Thank you I got into the boot loader unlock, but haven't done it yet, I went back in to make sure I have everything backed up, and when installing CWM does it back up your stock Rom onto a SD card? I've read things on it but don't really understand...sorry still a noob...

It appears you have a lot more reading to do before you start making these changes to your phone. If not careful you can turn it into a useless brick. I would suggest reading through as many development threads as you can to get more comfortable.
BTW, you won't be doing any of this from your Mac. Find a Windows or Linux computer to use.

S-off to S-0n

Hi Guys, I am in the process to put my M8 back to stock, currently I am s-off, how do I convert it back to s-on? Do I remove the custom recovery first then unroot, then S-on?
What is the proper sequence to do it, thanks

Just leave it soff. It throws a security flag when you turn security back on. There is no way around this at the moment but i'm pretty sure the command is
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
Double check this before using it, this is off the top of my head.
Its in the all in one toolkit.

I agree. Unless you are selling the device, I don't see the reason to s-on.
AT&T doesn't care if the phone is modded, if returning for warranty service.
