Most rootable device? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking of getting a new android phone' I'm stuck between the samsung note 3 and the lg g2, I'm down to which phone I can change the most..... I liked the old samsung devices I could play a lo with them, I need a phone that I can change the GUI and all the software, like play with all of it. Which one do you think would work better the g2 or note 3, if you have any more ideas tell me

If you dont care about screen size go and buy note 3
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I've had a good experience with the LG G2. Its easily moddable, even though it has a locked bootloader (it can be bypassed and all custom ROM's do that). Its super fast and has a battery life that is crazy good.

Re
Thanks guys, now add the s5 to the mix and who do you think wins?

Samsung has their Knox security that makes it a lot harder than strictly necessary to root.

I would also go for the Note 3, just my 2 cents.

[Q] Getting New Android Phone and have no idea whic one

Hello.
So, Yeah. I'm going to get something new.
After I had unfortunate accident when my Droid RAZR broke in my pocket without any crash, I'm receiving new one for warranty and decide to change something, because I hate when phone breaks without reason
I live in Poland, so I need something that reach europe.
What I need... Specs comparable with RAZR (CPU and RAM. Some nice GPU would also be nice), Screen at least same quality as it and overall nice quality.
It would be also welcome to be easily moddable with decent amount of Custom ROMs for it. Official/Unofficial CM support is also welcome.
And one more thing. No SGS2. I'm tired of it.
So. Any propositions?
Thanks in advance!
Galaxy S II is old, why would anyone suggest it with the Galaxy S III is out? If you're tired of Samsung then go for an HTC One X. If not, the Samsung Galaxy S III is waiting to love you. I'd suggest a Nexus but you seem to be pretty content with rooting and ROMs so I guess it isn't necessary.
How about Galaxy Note 2? Supposed to be announced at end of month

If you like rooting and roming, go with the Nexus. Otherwise, Galaxy S III or One X.
Ooh, go for the Xperia gx. Actually, scratch that. I don't think it's available in Europe yet... maybe the acro s... damn I'm not really sure when it comes to Europe.
Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
go for the one X, but rooting it might be a bit difficult, if so, then go with a nexus!
I would suggest a Galaxy Nexus. Nexus devices always get the official updates first and will be supported for a long time (for example: Nexus S got JellyBean, Galaxy S which has almost the same hardware has not even gotten official ICS...)
Get Galaxy Note 2. It will be released in few days.
Galaxy s3 is an awesome choice too.
Sent from Samsung Galaxy S3 T999
The nexus s is very close in spec to your RAZR. The camera isn't as nice, but fantastic device none the less. You can get them cheap right now too.
The SGS3 is an incredible device. It blows away the RAZR in performance from every angle.

Either go for HTC One S .. !!
Htc one x if u can live without external memory.

Thanks for all replies. I think that I'll go with Nexus. However I've got one question about it. I heard that it doesn't have Gorilla Glass display. Can anyone say something about its resistance for little scratches?

If you can get a Galaxy S III go for it because Samsung just came out with the official jelly bean OTA , otherwise Galaxy Nexus ftw...
The Galaxy Nexus does not have a gorilla glass display , only a scratch resistant one...I haven't really tested mine by putting it in my pocket with my keys lol, but If you get a decent screen protector you won't have any problems...
Gorilla Glass is a big plus , but its a small price to pay for the software experience you're getting out of this phone...Pure AOSP Android experience , you will get the latest updates FIRST, and not have to wait like with the SIII for example...or any other phone for that matter...
Plus its a pretty powerful phone..well worth its money right now if you don't care about the mediocre camera...(which I personally think is fine...1080p video at 30fps , with decent lighting it records great... Photos are OK as well so...)
OR if you're good at waiting you can wait for the new nexus to come out that might have a GG display, but Google hasn't even announced it officially yet so...

Should I get this phone

My contract is up and I am deciding on what phone to get. I liked the note 3 because of the size of the phone. I will want to root it. Is this the best android phone? Want feedback?:fingers-crossed:
You basically only have 3 choices.
LG G2
HTC ONE
NOTE 3
In a month nexus 5 and HTC ONE MAX will join in

Either get the Note 3 for the 3GB RAM or wait for Nexus 5. IMO the Nexus might not even have 3GB RAM.

[Q] End of Galaxy user? Should i get Nexus 4?

I had iPhone 3G as my first phone, following by 4s then i switched to Galaxy s3 in April 2013. I've learned a lot, i've flashed many custom roms, kernel etc.
After seeing Samsung delaying updates and transporting regional lock along with kitkat update are the reason that i come to decision that i will sell my galaxy s3 for Nexus 4 (cant afford n5 yet).
I need your help guys
How good is the battery on nexus 4 compared to galaxy s3?
Idc about storage
This is a q&a thread, so it also belongs there. But to answer your question. Comparing stock of both devices, the s3 definitely wins. Samsung is good at creating a good battery life, even with touchwiz
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You endured once in a blue moon updates in iOS, but you can't in android, which there is an update almost every week?
Sent from my GT-I9300
S3 wins hands down. Tho I would recommend getting sony because don't delay the update
I disagree.
Bells and whistles like smart stay that doesn't even work properly after the jellybean update or a maybe slightly better camera (though I don't find much difference) doesn't outweight not having proper multitask. Also, neither touchwiz nor aosp have the nexus smoothness. Even my dad's former galaxy nexus feels slightly better than my s3.
If you can live with not having an sdcard or a removable battery, I'd say the n4 provides a better user experience (did try it for about a month). The only reason I'm not getting the n4 is because I'm waiting out the n5.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
This thread would be best off in the Nexus 4 section, most users who browse the S3 forums still have and use the S3.

This is a joke, right? S3 is in overall better then the nexus 4. S3 will get 4.4. Regional lock can be removed. Also SD-Card and removable battery is essential for a phone in my opinion. (Plus, the N4 is an Lg device ) So if you don't plan to go from S3 to N5, stick to the S3!
well i am curious how long samaung/other custom devs will continue support galaxy s3 in 2014
cuz S4 still havent recieved 4.3 and 4.4 is already rolling out for Sony flagship device soon, which means this is my last samsung device >.<
And isn't mali 400mp old tho?
i will buy N5 in April then
thanks for the replies

Duuuuude....4.4 has not even rolled out to Nexus devices. Hell, it hasn't even been announced. No way can it roll out for Sony devices any time soon.
Sorry i worded that incorrectly but i hope you see my point; Im disappointed with samsung updates. I should have went for n3 in the first place, i'd have saved £40 anyways.
How the hell are you disappointed with Samsung updates?!?! They are right behind Google when it comes to updates. LG and HTC suck at updates.

Except if your aiming to the n4 for its price. I seriously doubt the n5 will have the same price the n4 has. The n4 is, at this time, the best bang for the buck around. And I suspect it will continue to be for a good while.

Any phones you guys are excited for?

So all of you note users.. what phones have you switched to? Or what phones are you keeping your eye on?
I've got my upgrade coming up next month. The cool new phones that caught my eye are the G Flex and the HTC One (bit older though). It doesn't seem like ATT has many new options that aren't just new versions of the galaxy devices. The Gflex in particular I think looks awesome from first glance.. but i think a 6" screen is just a bit too ridiculous. I was thinking of dropping down in size if anything from my Note.
Wait for the S5. On feb 24th they are going to announce its release date. It will be the first phone with 64bit processing. It's a smidge smaller than the note.
I moved on to the note 3. I dint recommend it. The bootloader is locked and we have to use safestrap.
I'm waiting on the S5.
Only going to get it if there's an all-metal version.
If not I'll stick to the Note 1.
The Note 3 has a locked bootloader could imply that the S5 might have it as well.

I am going to get an iDevice. Can't stand any phone with locked bootloader and without per app permission control. May stay with Note 1 it's running Kitkat so well with both ATT and T-Mobile LTE.

Since the note 3 from att has locked bootloaders we cant install kernels, or custom recoveries. There's software called Safe Strap or "SS" that allows us to partition the device memory and install slots. We can install custom roms in these slots and run them. But that's it! No cpu control, no governors, no over/under volting, no cool stuff like that which gives our device freedom to perform the way we want it too. If you want a note 3, buy an unlocked N9000. Not the N9005, or N900A.
I'm ready about to get an xperia z1s from tmobile, I have the want/need to get away from the samsung scene, it has a locked boot loader as well but I hope root will come out for that phone soon, from reviews I see for that phone it is a already great phone and one person on xda said it will be like icing on the cake to get root
I bought a note 2 at a decent price and it was nearly brand new. Got cm11 on it and it's great

Best Feature to buy Samsung Galaxy Note 7

What is the best selling point that you feel very convincing for you to buy?
Let us discuss here... Poll your best reasons.
Even as a long time Note User (Note3-Note5) I liked the s7 Edge's design enough to lose my s pen to switch over to it. Now that the Note7 is here, I'm ready to jump back into the S Pen....
To answer your question the "glance" feature (yes I know its just software and available on note5 with custom rom) but that is just so incredible. I can't wait to use that for multitasking.
Also, the iris scanner combined with password entry and hiding apps just because you aren't the one looking at the phone is pretty tight!
Thats an easy one.
Ext sd card support.
Thats the main reason im ditching my note 5 and going note 7.

I would agree that if you have an S7 edge and dont need the Spen not much point in buying one.
But for those who dont have an S7 edge and are in the market for a new device (like myself) the fact that the note is a copy is quite irrelevant.
Perhaps you didnt consider that?

$400 doesnt mean much to me honestly, not trying to sound like an ass but its just not a big deal on my end.
Im not a fan of the edge screen at all and if they had not toned it down on the note 7 i would not be buying one so thats the main reason Id go note over S7 edge.
I dont use the Spen alot either lol...bigger battery would have been nice for sure but as it is its 500 mah more than my note 5 so for me its a bonus.

I am trying to look at the bigger picture here and consider any customer in the market but if I like the device $400 is not a problem for me either. These manufacturers have broken our balls with such small upgrades and even after so many years we still don't have a perfect device. They hold back on hardware upgrades on purpose just so that users can have another reason next year to buy the new flagship. It is annoying. I still am convinced that the S7 Edge is Samsung's best phone this year. Performance wise and battery wise.

Yes it is, but I usually buy device after it becomes kind of old, after 6 month, so price reduces around 30%..
I used note 2 for almost 3 years, and i never felt to buy another phone, because it was fast with custom rom, I was able to play any game, I upgraded to note 5 just for the sake of camera.
So maybe I will buy note 7 after few months.

If you need a waterproofed Note, you're using it wrong. Going from a Note 4 to the 7. The 5 wasn't for me. The addition of the SD did it for me and believe it or not the gif creator.
