To all owners of Wifi only SGP 511 with Firmware 17.1.A.2.69 - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Could anybody with the Wifi only Version of the Xperia z2 tablet (SGP511) who has the 17.1.A.2.69 firmware please create a ftf of his firmware using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334653?
That would be really great because root with locked Bootloader is ONLY available on this firmware version!
Thanks in advance!

It's one of my first FTF so doublecheck before flashing.
Edit: it is the 17.1.A.2._36_

Thank you! I will try it next week when I get back home...

[Q] Downgrading FTF

HI ALL,
I updated to 4.3 without thinking first. I don't have an unlockable bootloader so I cannot apply root on that rom. The only rom I was able to root is .532.
I went to the [FTF Depository] Sony Firmware Releases (Latest: 14.2.A.0.290 - C6833) **UPDATED* thread and downloaded the [STOCK ROM] [FTF] Xperia Z Ultra (C6806) 14.1.B.1.532 "US Retail"
I'm on bell network from Canada but since it was the same model I only though that the input language would be english only. The problem is I don't have network signal. It says, Invalid Card, Emergency Calls only.
Then I tried to flash the baseband from [STOCK ROM] [FTF] Xperia Z Ultra (C6806) 14.2.A.0.290 "Generic US" which works on my phone but still the same baseband.
I'm confused. Is there a way to use the .532 firmware on my phone ? I have a C6806 from Bell with locked bootloader wich sucks btw.
Thanks
Sylvain

Unfortunately If you have a locked bootloader, and what sounds like a locked SIM for Bell only, you can only use the ROM that your carrier provides you with. You'll need to find someone in Canada with your device (ultra) and then get them to send you the FTF file.
and then flash that.
Its the only solution know of

Thank you for your reply, really appreciate it. But I found a solution
After digging in the Q&A I found someone said that he lost his IMEI after downgrading from 4.3 and it was the same thing as me I had 0000000000 as IMEI. I tried multiple thing, and finally after downgrading to .532 excluding the baseband, upgrading to .257 and downgrading again to .532 fixed my issue with the invalid card now I have my LTE, signal and root back online.
Did you exclude the baseband when upgrading to .257 and downgrading back to .532?

The guide in general is now very simple to follow is starting from .290, there is now just a single file to flash, although it will say that the model no. is a c6833 at the end, but that will change back when you flash the correct ftf.

Help to Update Sony Xperia Z Ultra to 4.4.4

Hi, to everyone! What are the ways to upgrade to 4.4.4 our Sony Xperia Z Ultra, but someone I know who told me to update via recovery and then flash the kernel. If someone could tell me how to do that you really appreciate it, because I can't update via OTA because I am Root. Sorry for my european english
You can update to 4.4.4 normally via OTA or PC Companion even when rooted, after update you will lose root, just repeat the root process again and you're good to go.
or flash a FTF with flashtool (http://flashtool.net)

Problem with finding firmware D6503

Hello!
Today I get my Xperia Z2 branded by T-Mobile in Poland. I want to root without voiding my guaranty. I have FW 23.0.1.A.0.167 running Android 4.4.4. I'm know that i have to downgrade my firmware, but I can't find matching firmware for my device and brand. I've searched in this topic of course -
[FTF] STOCK FIRMWARES for Xperia Z2/Z2a (D65x3/D6502/SO-03F) [20141116]
Can somebody help me?
Greetings from Poland!
May I downgrade from 23.0.1.A.0.167 (4.4.4 update) to 17.1.2.A.0.314 Germany - unbranded - 1281-4640? Is that won't brick my device?

You can downgrade to any ftf until its for your model. you might want to try and use xperifirm for ftf download though. you might find your phone's ftf.

[Q] Question Regarding Flashing D6503 Frimware On D6502

hello people
i bought a new z2 (D6502) and it came with 4.4.4 preinstalled
and i want to root the phone so after some searching i found out that i have to downgrade to .314
and i was wondering.would it be ok to flash a .314 D6503 frimware on my phone so i can root and flash a pre rooted .167?
because the weird thing is that i live in the middle east.my phone came with full arabic support but when searched here i couldn't find a D6502 firmware for middle east region that supports arabic .neither .314 or .167
only found such firmware for the D5603
how come then my phone fully supports arabic
thanx in advance
No you cant
The phone will still work but wifi and mobile data so its useless essentialy.
ok but then i can flash the pre rooted package from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/stock-4-4-4-23-0-1-0-167-bug-free-t2929402
and install the D6502 patch he provided
would that work
also.any idea then why then i have a 4.4.4 with full arabic support yet i cant find the ftf file in the stock firmwares thread
You should be good to flash that
And the FTF thread only has what people request usualy or need.
very well then i'll flash the D6503 .314 then flash the pre rooted package of .167 with D6502 patch
i now but i couldn't find it anywhere as well
is there a tool i can use to extract the current firmware on my device as a ftf file to keep it in case anything happened?perhaps upload it here as well so people like me in the ME can benefit from it
btw thanx alot for the help

No MM OTA

Hi guys,
I want to update my z2 to the latest MM but I'm not getting any OTA updates. My device is locked to a carrier (SMART TELECOMMUNICATIONS PHILIPPINES). I was wondering if I can flash any MM based ftf to my z2, is it going to face signal problems?
Please help me out. Thanks.

The latest firmware is not yet available for your current Carrier, although you could update with flashtool using a generic version! If you wait a bit until the update comes out I can make you an ftf for your Carrier.
Thanks a lot. I might try flash a generic firmware to my z2 just to try it. Then wait for the official one from you.

No problem!
BTW: .291 is out for the Customised Verison of Philippines, but not Smart Communications. Your version should be coming very soon!
Once it's out, could I just flash it over to my current?
Btw: will there be any difference?
AFAIK there is no difference.
