MOTO E Unlock and relock bootloader without voiding warranty - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Guys i recently bought MOTO E and I want to know method about relocking boootloader ? and How can we claim warranty again.
As in SONY devices we can take backup of DRM keys before unlocking bootloader so we have warranty.
LG devices flashtool can restore bootloader to it's original condition so no worry.
What about Motorola? is there any method should i know ? How can we have both warranty and unlocked device.

Good luck

You can unlock your bootloader from motorola website and what i know is that once you unlocked your bootloader your warrantly is lost whether you later lock your bootloader before going to service centre. So once unlocked mean lost warranty

Root, bootloader unlock and warranty

Does the rooting avoid warranty in Ray?
I also want to unlock the bootloader to install CWM, how to relock it and to restore the phone without cwm just in case to send it to service center?
unofficial unlocking
oh my God..
this issue discussed in too much topics..
If you unlocked the bootloader with unofficial method without loosing DRM
than you can try to reflash with Wotan to the stock and then relock bootloader
and 95% that the service center they will not suspect anything
but dont forget what is the warrenty case.
if the reason of breakage is a factory production defect
than THEY will PAY for REPAIR
if YOU will break your phone then YOU will PAY for REPAIR
Thanks mate, I'm quite newbie in android
Can you please link to me the thread of this unlock/relock method ?

[Q] Confused with bootloader relocking

Hi guys, I'd like to unlock my Xperia Ray's bootloader, but I don't want my warranty to be void. I know this is impossilbe, but it seems it is possible to get it back by relocking the bootloader, like on this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1862045
So, I was about to unclock my bootloader because I was sure I could send back my phone to warranty in case it would have a problem.
But then I saw this other thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752009
So I'm getting confused, will relocking my bootloader get my warranty back ?
Help me please
Cant say really ...
it's like a lottery ...
It's at the total discretion on sony's part to grant you warranty ...
Unlocking BL will erase the DRM which cant be restored even if BL is locked ...
Just assume ,your warranty is void when you unlock BL ..
Okay.
I'll wait my warranty to be finished to unlock my bootloader then. :good:
Thanks for your help.
If anyone has more informations though, post it here please.

Unlocked bootloader/rooted

Hi guys. I've always heard that unlocking bootloader and rooting voids warranty. What is true?
- Unlocking bootloader?
- Even after unrooting, still void?
- Can I undo unlocked bootloader?
- How does phone producers/makers know if your device (if sent for warranty) is modified?
- If I unroot/undo unlock bootloader, will they still know I have rooted/unlocked bootloader before?
Unlocking or Rooting your phone can void your warrenty.. This can be undone depending on your phone model.. Do a google with your phone model..

There isn't much reason to unlock boot loader specially since root is available on all firmwares.
If you really want to unlock the bootloader for some reason then you can always backup your TA partition and then Unlock bootloader. Then if you ever get the need for warranty you can flash the original FTF restore the TA backup. You will have your warranty back.

Thanks mate will try to install now the official 5.0.2 from sony
unlocking your bootloader grants freedom and easier at loss of your warranty and some xperia features
however staying locked lets you keep your warranty and xperia features but its generally annoying for me atleast

[QUESTION] warranty after bootloader unlock?

I've brought this phone recently and I just want to know if I unlock the bootloader officially then will I lose warranty?
I read it somewhere that even if I unlock bootloader and use the stock miui rom (or after having a problem return to miui) then it would be covered under warranty.
please clear my doubts about the warranty stuff
No, unlocking the bootloader will not cause you to loose the warranty. If it did, Xiaomi wouldn't have you to create an account and apply and wait for permissions to unlock the bootloader in the first place. But if you install a custom rom/firmware and the phone sustains some kind of damage, you might want to re-flash original MIUI before sending it in for repair or they might reject it.

thanks for replying
when I was unlocking my moto e (1st gen) I had to get some code from the company website and they would void the warranty, then
same goes for zenfone 5 where I had to use an official apk to unlock and they void the warranty too
but thank you ,its good to know
I want to ask one more question
during the procedure of sending unlock request I read that unlocking bootloader would serve as service end. what does that mean?
Unlocking bootloader will not void warranty.
Only installing custom ROMs will void warranty.
Well if you email them, they do say it WILL void warranty.
well I have to get root and xposed either now or later.. thanks everybody
I've just read a screenshot from an e-mail by xiaomi on MIUI forum which stated unlocking bootloader voids warranty.
I was denied warranty for flashing official ROM. Xiaomi is an awful company to deal with.
