Lost files using Hide it pro - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please help me i've tried everithing...
I have a very large stash of pics that I kieep in Hide it pro app. I've set the app to unhide to a folder and them move that folder to the pc. when I tryed to open the folder on the PC I saw that there was only one photo inside (the first one) all the other 200 where lost.
I've run to the vault directory of hide it pro and there were the files, try to copy them and it was impossible, so I reboot the phone and the files were gone. GONE!
Now I've try to recover them with disk digger and other recovery software without any luck. If I could I would made a complete backup of the phone internal memory and them mount it has a drive and simply use recuva to get the files. But the process is to hard to understand and I can't see to know how to copy all content using adb not to the sd card but to the PC. My sd card is smaller than the internal memory so it'll not be able to acomodate a raw file from that size (64gb).
Any ideas? I believe that the files are simply lost on a regular hard drive or sd card it'll be easy but on the phone internal memory is a hell of a problem to get them out. Note that I must find the photos that are now archives with a changed name, hide it pro changes the file name...
please help.. thank you

Usually two or three people a week post about deleted files, search and read for hundreds of examples. It is possible to dump a raw file with ADB but you're trying to unscramble eggs.

Recover images deleted from root drive?

Hey guys,
Gonna try explain this best I can. If I need to be corrected or any blanks filled in then please let me know
Basically, I had around 25 images that were taken a few weeks ago when my family visited from New Zealand on my SD. I thought to be safe, I'll move them to a folder on the root drive so popped onto root explorer, made the folder on root and copied the pictures over (well moved them actually).
Now, issue is I stupidly named the folder (in my wisdom god knows why I chose this) 'PICREC130910'. I do understand the name of the folder is fairly irrelevant but thought since I'm asking for a hand, best explain myself best I can.
Now, again in my wisdom, I was browsing about using root explorer and somehow managed to delete that folder (let's blame working 14 hour shifts for that wonderful mishap).
I tried a recovery using various deleted file recovery softwares on my SD using the computer, but to no avail. It finds the image names but when I recover them it only recovers a non readable file that every viewer I've tried can't see. this might be because I had just before deleting root folders, put about 6gb of music on the SD so probably overwritten the pictures.
Anyway, because the root is generally less written to than the SD I'm hoping they're still in a recoverable state so to put my question out there... is there a software that can do a similar recovery search but on the root drive? Would really appreciate any help cause I only get to see my family from nz about once every 5 years.
Thanks for reading guys,
Pete
What recovery software have you used?
One I have tried with great success is Recuva.
I used that and another one, can't remember the name just now but my issue is how do I search the root drive?
What I'm looking to do is somehow mount the root drive to allow a windows based piece of software search it or alternatively find another way to do so using a terminal to show all deleted files so I can find these pictures somewhere.
Hopefully (and I'm asuming..) the internal is a similar structure to the flash-based memory system in the SD card and therefore as long as it hasn't been overwritten, should be recoverable.
Would I be right in this assumption?
Nobody help here?
Sorry dude, but i am pretty certain there is no software available that would allow you to recover deleted files from a Mobile Phone internal memory. I can only suggest that you remove your SD card and connect that to you PC and see if you can recover any pics direct from the SD. You will have to use an SD Card reader as it will not work if you connect the phone to the pc.
I personally use Recover My Files. It always works for me.
Have a look with THIS, worth a shot.
First off can I offer my greatest thank you to all those that have replied so far. I'm avoiding installing or deleting a thing until I know what I can do with this.
Isn't mounting the phone to the computer (Ie mount SD card) the same as putting it into an SD card reader? Higher chance of it working with a reader?
As said, it can find the image names, just not the images (ie recovers a non readable file!)

[Guide] Recover Lost recovery files from SD card

I recently started trying out Custom ROM's extensively and at one point lost all my clockworkmod recovery files from my SD card. Terrifying as it was to start all over again, I didnt give up hope and looked around in the xda forums and here are the collaborated instructions
I assume that to your good fortune, the files are only LOST i.e not deleted by you accidentally. When this happens, android puts them in a folder called LOST.DIR on your SD card. Ensure you keep these files intact!!!
I also assume that you are using clockworkmod recovery.
Step 0:
I recommend to do all this on your PC unless stated so otherwise... I used a micro-SD to SD adapter to read the card in my laptop..
Step 1:
Your recovery files are in the LOST.DIR directory somewhere. Unfortunately the filenames are now (seemingly) random numbers. Your first Job is to find out which file is which. The way I took is to use a free file recovery software like RECUVA . Use this tool to run a "deep scan" on your SD Card. Once Complete, It will show you a list of "recoverable" and "unrecoverable" files. Dont pay any attn to the status. Look in the "PATH" column of the lost file. The files of interest are in the "G:\Clockworkmod\backup\" path(My SD card is drive G)
For each rom backup that you had created there should be a directory with 5 files(look in the "PATH" Column)
System.img
Data.img
Cache.img
.android_secure.img
nandroid.md5
Step 2:
Recuva tells you that each of these files are unrecoverable as they have been overwritten by a file in the LOST.DIR directory in the comments Column. Look at the corresponding file name against each of the above 5 files for the ROM Backup that you want to recover. Copy these 5 files to a seperate directory on your PC. (For our guide we will call this Directory "RecoveredBackup". You are free to call it whatever you want. Just remember..no spaces in the directory name. There's a good reason for this)
Step 3:
Rename the corresponding random-numbered-file to the correct name (example system.img)
Step 4:
The chances that the Nandroid.md5 is recovered correctly are very LOW. There is a way around this first Create a Directory called "clockworkmod" (without quotes) in your SD card. Inside this directory create another directory "backup".
copy the directory from the above step "RecoveredBackup" into this backup folder.
Step 4:
Regenerating the md5. Insert your SD card back to your Phone and open any "shell" (like terminal emulator)
Type su in the terminal and press enter. Allow superuser access if prompted.
Regenerate your md5 by following THESE steps.
(Thanks to ihtfp69 for this) (remember..in our case instead of "2010-06-29.20.22.53" in the post, we use "RecoveredBackup"
Step 5:
Ready to go!!! Now reboot back into recovery and restore your ROM as usual!
Step 6:
Breathe a sigh of Relief if it worked
Repeat if you have more than one backup to recover.
Disclaimer: This SHOULD work. This doesnt mean it WILL. give it a go... but don blame me if it doesnt work / your girlfriend breaks up with you / Judgement day arrives.....
You can also recover deleted files from Harddisk and Memory Card with the help of another efficient data recovery software. i will suggest you to use "Kernel for FAT and NTFS" file recovery software for the same purpose. It recovers data after accidental delete (shift+delete) / format from hard drive, memory card, flash drive etc instantly. It has a user friendly interface through which you can preview the lost data in scan mode in RED color and then gave you the choice to save all at once or some selective files to your location.
Thanks for the good advice and detailed description! Should save me a lot of pain.
happy to help!

If you wan to recover SD card, recover memory card lost data, you must to use a photo recovery, this recovery tool is helpful for you,get it from:
Code:
datas-recovery
You can not only recovery photo, video, but also recovery iphone and android lost data.
The simple delete command on most cameras just marks the space on a memory card as being available for use rather than overwriting the actual space on the card. As long as you don't record anything new onto the card, previously deleted photos should be relatively easy to recover using a file recovery utility.
You should even be able to recover photos from a reformatted memory card as long as you used a standard format command rather than a low-level format. (A low-level format not only deletes all the data on the card, but it also recreates the directories and folder structure of the card, rendering previously deleted files unrecoverable.)

Not on this device, but principle is the same: if I copied the lost.dir folder to my computer, and then ran recuva, would the files still be recoverable? Or is the whole point that it has to be on the original destination?
If they havent been mentioned... here are devices I have had tested and don't see on the first post:
1) the LG Optimus "S" works, I think specs are almost, if not exactly, identical to the Optimus V - now as far as lag goes, it is far from a good performance device...
2) the Sony Xperia "Arc" works...and pretty good I understand...
3) Samsung Galaxy Ace works well...
4) HTC Evo Shift 4G... works good.
5) LG "My Touch" works...
6) Kyocera Milano lags it up on anything remotely intensive, but works!
Great tips. SAVE me from disaster ! Thank you so much!

Do not worry, here's a good sd card recovery solution you may follow to recover data from sd card: how to recover lost files from sd card
It's easy to follow and works well for me.
My problem is a litttle bir complicated...
I organized all my pictures in my N9005(phone memory) then i replaced those to SD card. At this time some of those organized folders turned into empty folders and videos, picturec etc. moved to LOST.DIR folder and named numerically. After then i tried to recover via RECUVA, STELLAR PHOENIX and ACTIVE FILE RECOVERY PRO. But i couldn't recover all lost files except a few . And video players and picture viewers say that those few recovered files are corrupted. After i read the threads in forums, recovers are successful but mine is not, i think about the replacing the files from phone memory to sd card caused the problem. Is there anybody to help me for solving recovery problem and making any comment about my thought?(replacing from phone to SD card)
Problem......
My problem is attached......Please help me...
I can't see any file on "LOST.DIR" folder, and Recuva doesn't show anything too.
I would like recommend a tool is SD Card Data Recovery, It is Kernel for Windows Data Recovery that can repair and recover deleted data from different storage device like Hard Disk, USB Drive, PEN Drive, Camera, SD card, Memory card etc. Download and install H-Data Recovery Master(hdatarecovery.com).
You can easily spot SD card usage in almost all the cool gadgets, such as the android king – Samsung galaxy s3, all the camcorder goes either full memory card storage or hybrid – with built-in hard drive, the Nikon d90, canon EOS 5d mark ii and all the DSLRs alike. But you must be very pained when you lose data from those SD card in following situations:
• Accidentally deleted files from SD card
• Formatted SD card
• SD card got corrupted or inaccessible
• Virus inflection
• Power failure
• Others
Thanks to the Android Data Recovery, which can recover deleted photos from samsung galaxy and videos from SD cards on Android devices, as well as retrieve deleted contacts from Android phone and messages on SIM cards.
In order to put a stop to permanent loss of files from LOST.DIR in Android, you have to quickly recover missing files before your Android Smartphone memory space get overwritten by some new data. Therefore, go ahead with pertinent LOST.DIR Android recovery tool like UFUSoft Lost DIR File Recovery.
SysInfoTools Windows Data Recovery
I would like to recommend Sysinfotools windows data recovery tool, it proves helpful for me. Suggest you to Download its trial version and practically analyse all the feature before you purchase. It will recover all the media files, documents, attachments safely in an original form.
Thanks

How to transfer files after root

So I've rooted my wifes old nook tablet(bntv250), and it works great, if a bit slow(cm10-20121108-unofficial-acclaim) and I want to transfer some e-books to the internal storage. I can navigate to the location I want them in on the device from the device, but Windows only sees a .99gb internal storage that is empty. I can send some item using the send to kindle email, but want to know how to move items from an external sd card to the internal memory. The file manager is not intuitive in this respect(not like the one on my Samsung phone, which is not rooted). I've tried searching and can't find the info I need. The files I want to move are to big to use send to kindle email. Other than this one issue, I am really liking this thing now that it is rooted. Wish I had done it 2 years ago... TIA
You should be able to use a file manager app to copy/move content from SD card to internal memory. Which file manager are you using? FWIW, I use ES File Explorer and it works great -- with its "Root Explorer" option enabled you can access any folder/file.
Trying to use the one that came in the ROM, but I see no way of moving the files around. I had to get root access just to find the folder I wanted to put files into. And why can't windows see the internal memory?

The internal storage and the user-media are on two different partitions, standard Windows can access only one partition of a removable drive, in this case it's the user-media (FAT32) partition.

Formated microSD in android, cant recovery files even with softwares

My microSD was almost full and I kept takeing pictures with my phone then feel day after I realize that I has noone of photos saved, then when I tried access micro sd a message shown saying that my sd was corrupted.
So I tried to use a small usb adapt with sd in windows and explorer could not show the memory properly to access it and then I realize if I format in android I could then recovery the files in windows after.
I formated to use to share files betwen pc and android, now I tried Ease, Recuva and some others recovery softwares and all of them cant show my old files even with deep scan and using the original microsd-to-sd adaptator. Tried some store apps too, they dont even run in my android.
I did not write upside the files I had but android automatically put a lot of folders inside, no one with much amount of files.
So now I ask, can a diferent software or trick take my old files back? this micro sd is old, I had important files from 2010 there. :crying:
Ive mi a3 with android 9. 16g c16g micro sd
Recovery will depend on if you encrypted the SD or not. If the SD was previously encrypted you will not be able to recover any of the files. That is kind of the point of encryption.
If you did not encrypt the SD and Recuvva failed you may still be able to recover some of the files. I had a similar issue where I knew the deleted files were on the drive and while Recuvva managed to pull a few it was not finding the one that I really needed. This lead me to looking for other recovery programs online. I Googled "apps similar to recuvva". I found a site with 10 programs like recuvva and I found one in that list that worked. I did have to try 3 or 4 to find that one but it not only found the file I needed but it found about a dozen more that I didn't even know I was missing. I would tell you which program it was but I don't remember and I uninstalled it after using it.
Best wishes.

While I have your ear, backup backup backup… I really can't say it enough. I hate to see people on here who've lost memories or important docs because they didn't back them up. Google provides so many ways to backup all for free. Google Drive will backup your docs and files, Google Photos will backup your photos and videos, Gmail Contacts will backup your contacts. Many carriers also provide backup options. Verizon Cloud will essentially backup your device similarly to iTunes. It doesn't backup your game progress and all of that, I think iTunes does, but it will backup your texts, files, settings, contacts and photos.

IMHO it mainly depends on Android SD card's filing system whether there is a chance to recover data after having formatted it. For an Android device, the compatible file system of external storage is FAT32 or exFAT.
To unformat the SD card in Android phone to get back the deleted files, I suggest you to try iBeesoft Data Recovery. It is designed for users to unformat SD card on Android phone specially.
Here are the simple steps for how to use iBeesoft Data Recovery to unformat SD card in Android phone:
Step 1. Install iBeeSoft Data Recovery software on computer
Step 2. Connect your Android device with computer
Step 3. Select "Unformat File Types"
Step 4. Select Formatted SD card to scan
Step 5. Unformat SD card in Android phone
Full guide here.
I've attached Google's USB driver (read: Android Debug Bridge - ADB-client) software for Windows computer.
