[IDEA] Port international firmware/ROM's to Verizon Note 2?

Considering the similarities between the domestic variants of the Note 2 and their international counterparts, would anyone be willing to test some of the success that the folks over in the AT&T forum have had with porting the international N7100/N7105 firmware/ROM's over to the Verizon Note 2
Check out these two threads over in the AT&T forum and see what you all think:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016575
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018411
The basic gist of the procedure is to use a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP to flash a stock N7100/N7105 firmware, and then flash your carrier specific modem/kernel.
Why would anyone want to do this? Well, for starters, you would benefit from built-in stock-supported tethering, and a few other features that carriers disable (YMMV). But mainly this means that the domestic versions of the Note 2 can benefit from the development of the international versions! So, when the latest version of Android comes out for the rest of the world, we aren't stuck here waiting for our carrier to catch up to everyone else...
So what do you all think? Anyone willing to try?
ba-ba-ba-BUMP.
What about integrating carrier specific apps? The Verizon version has a data usage app that works without logging into my Verizon.
I do believe that is what scrosler was doing here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055218 and he said this in the features " Verizon Patch files in a flashable zip can be found http://www.cleanroms.com/downloads/Note2/VZW Patch for 7105 Base.zip This will let the ROM think you are a VZW ROM! Good for the Play Store and APN settings! " But.... He did say he was unsure if it works on other roms in his second post. You possibly could try it. : )
Thanks. . But I'm already using his VZW rom

Any chance that Scott's patch would work on the CM10.1 nightlies for N7100? If I try it, do I risk bricking?
Sent from my Galaxy Note II using Tapatalk 2
You risk a soft brick. Just make a nandroid backup first and you'll be fine.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Just make sure you don't flash modems and keep a stock kernel on hand
Yeah since the hardware is nearly identical I think the most you would risk is a soft brick. The 7100 lacks LTE though so I'm not sureif you would have data on one of those roms. Tell us how it goes if you go through with it.

[Q] What roms for other models are you using with the verizon patch?

I'm looking for a stable TW rom alternative to beans/cleanrom. I know some people have been using the verizon patch to make international roms work on verizon phones. I don't want to re-invent the wheel, so if you've applied the patch successfully to another rom and it works, which one and does it work 100%?
None at the moment. I might at some point down the road
So does this mean a custom ROM like Android Revolution HD 8.0 for N7100 will not work without adding a verizon patch to our verizon note 2?
The patch only applies to TW roms for the N7105 and American carriers. Roms for the n7100 require additional modification in order to run on LTE devices.
Can someone please post a link to the patch thread? Thank you.

[ROM][UVLG3] Skeleton Key - Unlock your Unlocked Note - v1.0 [8/31/13]

Skeleton Key
What is it and why UVLG3 base?
If you aren't on T-Mobile, just stop reading and hit your back button.
I recently switched from AT&T to T-mobile, and in doing so, had to play the "Which modem works" game. During that time, I realized there's a nice sized community of users on this forum that use tmo for their carrier. Since all our AT&T bases don't support Wifi Calling, and that's one of the neato features of T-Mobile, and since there doesn't appear to be any active Tmo ROMs these days, I figured I would update the UVLG3 base with a lot of the features and toys in my Jellybean Sandwich ROM. No WP7 task switcher, though. You people hate that.
Features
UVLG3 Base
Wifi Calling
Flapp's 3.0.2 kernel
Custom Animations (Check JBS thread)
Mikeyxda's Google Now port for ICS
ES File Explorer
Flash Player
Adblocked Host file + AdAway 2.3
Android 4.3 Fonts
Android 4.3 Sounds
Latest Market
Latest Youtube
Latest Google Maps
Greenify
GPS Tweaks
CRT Off Animations[Xposed]
Custom Carrier[Xposed]
Center/Colored/Whatevered Clock [Xposed]
Installation
Wipe Cache & Davlik & Data (No data if you're upgrading)
Download and flash ROM
If you need a T-Mobile Modem, Download the UVLG3 modem
Install Google Keyboard from market if you like the 4.2/3 Keyboard
Install whatever camera app you prefer rather than stock
Install the launcher you fancy
Changelog
+Flapp's kernel
+Few useful apps
Bugs:
None, I reckon. Maybe though. Who knows.
Sources & Thanks:
Thanks to JamieD for posting some of the 4.3 goodies and pumping out AOSP like we actually pay him for it.
Thanks to eng.stk for creating (porting?) the framework animations
Thanks to ptmr3 and bigfau for banging their heads against the touchwiz wall and making miracles happen.
Thanks to FemBlack for XblastTools

It's like my jellybean sandwich ROM with WiFi calling. If you aren't on tmo and/or don't care about WiFi calling, then probably not much point in spending the time flashing it tbh.
Neat. I'm going to flash this. Because WiFi Calling.
Just two questions, which I'll find out in a few minutes regardless...
ICS or JB based? Also, TouchWiz based, or AOSP?

To properly port a ROM, certain apks need to be ported. Basically....decompile all apks that are dependencies (framework-res, TWframework-res, systemUI, SecPhone......etc.) and swap over .9's and then dig through vital XML/Smali and copy over color codes and UI settings.
Most other apks can just be used as is though.

Then in Xposed I got Intelli3g and was able to select LTE only and it took a couple minutes but I connected to a LTE signal then I switched to Cdma, ev-do,and LTE and it works flawlessly

Could you post a pic via Tapatalk? Or maybe I'll hit it from a browser.
Either way, this is pretty dang cool.

Well I did the edits to framework2 and telephony common and all is working great except nfc. I really like the themes. Unfortunately I had to go back to the sprint dialer. .. I'm still using the xnote kernel without issue

The other thing I had to change the apn manually I used the tweaker app to open the apn settings screen.
Here..
Here is a screenshot.
And here is the apn screen

So, are we getting a Nougat ROM anytime soon?

Sure, we can flash any of the hlte nougat roms, but cell data won't work. Is anybody out there working on a proper hltespr nougat rom?
I am also interested in this.

I would be willing to put the work in to do this if someone could instruct me how to. What are the factors that make a ROM service specific?

If you are still looking....I have had success with this one.
Edit - It is MM but it has a nougat look.
[PAUSED][ROM][TW] [6.0.1] [FOUGAT ROM]《N7/S8 [v6] [23/05/17]》《C9/S8 [02/05/17]
Use this kernel DarkLord-Kernel-Marshmallow-NewUX-hlte-spr-V2.0
Make sure to turn off "Report Diagnostic Info" to keep your service from pulsing
If you don't get service with this one, be patient, I modded a version to add a CSC selector in the aroma (it got me service). I'm just waiting for the Dev to give the "OK" on it before it can get out.

That is a Marshmallow ROM, not a Nougat one.

Yeah I guess your right. It looks like a nougat. Aren't ROMs all about looking like something it's not. [emoji4]

Sorry I didn't see your question. I get 4g and MMS works.

May I ask how you got mobile data and MMS to work on RR nougat? I've tried manually setting up the APN not to mention flashing a couple apn .zips that I usually use with troublesome ROM's but nothing I do works. I can't get mobile data to work with RR nougat no matter what I try. Any info/help/steps would be appreciated.
On the newer Roms there are 2 apn zips that work decently .... this works well on CM I am not sure about tw

Darklords version 5 aka the note 5 one and also the s7e but no 4G but I got 3g and mms and calling. From my understanding the newer cm does not have the needed blobs for 4G/lte. I recently tried resurrection remix nothing worked (Sim and imie and meid didnt show) but I loved that rom on this phone very snappy. If you get anything working more than I did make sure to hit me up

I've been using the Darklord Reborn S7E Rom with LSS kernel 3.9 for a couple of months now. I have all data, messaging, and gps working fine. Occasionally I'll get a random reboot, but not often enough to be an issue. But yeah, I haven't been able to get data on android 7.
Just wanted to let some of you know there is a post from haggertk on the LineageOS by Trader418 thread looking for some testers, specifically those on CDMA carriers (Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, their MVNOs, etc. Testing is so we have a shot for this phone to be usable as a phone on O here's a link to the Post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74340885&postcount=5209

Now's our chance, N900P community! Contact @haggertk if you're willing to help test his upcoming builds. Don't let the N900P stay on Marshmallow!
