[Q] Gs5 active ( sm-g870a) firmware request - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I was messing around with my GS5 active and it now is stuck on the att load up screen. I would like to just reflash the firmware however it appears that the Gs5 and Gs5 active firmwares are different. If anyone knows where I can find the firmware it would be much appreciated I already looked on kies and sammobile any help would be appreciated. Any details of my phone and what i've tried to do are here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2791329

Looks like you are out of luck for now. The firmware is not available yet.

Have you tried booting into recovery yet? Press power, volume up and home buttons at the same time, simultaneously. Wipe cache partition then go to “advanced” and “wipe dalvick cache” and try to reboot. It may take a few minutes on the at&t logo just be patient.

You have wiped your system partition. In order to get your phone working again either download a ROM from your device's forums, or download a stock ROM from Sammobile and flash it using Odin.

Use Google, there is more than enough tutorials on how to flash using Odin/CWM/TWRP.
I did do a bit of Googling for you and found this, please do verify the MODEL of your phone is "SPH-L300" before using these files:

In you first post it sounds as if you did in fact wipe everything, including your then existing ROM. Best thing to have done at that point was to use adb to push a ROM to your phone, reboot back into recovery using adb and install the pushed ROM. Even if you wiped all content of any kind, you should be able to us adb to install factory img, stock ROM, etc.
P.S. all of the above is probably still an option- using adb to restore, get into bootloader etc.

Boot Loop Problems Help please

Hello guys,
I have a problems, ive Flash my Sam-T859 and it seemed to work fine for almost a month but a few hours ago i was playing a Game (Contract Killer 2) and it just crashed and started doing the boot loop thing.
Ive Been on google all day non stop following instructions that lead to dead ends.
Ive used Odin3_v1.85 and did the "PDA" thing and it passed but went right back into the boot loop.
i read somewhere that a guy had the same problem i did but somehow figured it out. He wasnt sure how he fixed it but he said he thought it was because he needed a legit .Tar file so if someone could direct me to that would be most appreciated.

if you are rooted....
...boot into recovery and wipe data, cache, dalvik cache ( dalvik is under advanced )...now reboot.
if you are not rooted...
...boot to stock recovery and wipe cache..reboot. If that doesnt work. Then i would go to sammobile .com and find the original firmware that your device came with and i would odin that...if that doesnt work. Then you are going to need a pit.file and use odin but you will repartition the sdcard this time.
google what ive told you here so you have a better understanding of what im saying.....and let me know.
good luck

alright...i think you have some corrupted data on the sdcard....i had this happen to me twice.
see if you can just wipe data...
... if you cant..then go into mounts and mount/format data..if you get really desperate you can format the sdcard from here...,but i would flash a rom first..the one you were running..that way you have an os to boot to..unless you have easy access to odin and a pc...inwhich case id wipe it and odin the original firmware and root all over again ...
keep me posted on the situation

ok...now were cookin..lol
im also assuming it has a seperate kernal and recovery partition....like my p7510 wifi only variant..
if this is correct...i would either use odin to flash a newer recovery or adb to push the recovery zip file to the device..if you push the zip..just flash it..then reboot recovery and try to do your wipes and flash a rom..
this is a long shot...but im baving trouble finding the original firmware tar..if this doesnt work...i would say our next step would be to flash a kernel in recovery or odin..then flash a rom that is compatible with the kernel..i know this sounds like its redundit....but im thinking your recovery or kernel might be clashing..if not seen it before on this device...but i have seen it on other devices..

well buddy...after reading back through your post...i think you flashed something wrong with odin....but since you have odin mode/download mode and recovery still available...
i think we need to flash a recoveryl with odin....go to droidbasement and download that recovery tar...follow the instruction and flash it with odin, making sure only what is said to be checked in odin is checked.
next....use your pc to push a rom to your device...
boot recovery and wipe data...cache...dalvik cache(under advanced) and format system(under advanced)...then flash rom and gapps...reboot...enjoy
let me know if you cant google what you need and ill link you to the recovery....but im rooting and installing a rom on my buddies new note 3 and its crazy new to me....so im busy...but ill keep checking my notifications about every 20 minutes if you post something...

[Q] Update problem

So, I have the i545-vruamdk S4 and I want to update the device to Jellybean 4.3. The device is not rooted. I cannot update OTA or through Kies. I have been told to unlock the bootloader, but I don't know how. I don't really want to root or anything of the sort. I do want 4.3, though. Nothing special, just the regular Jellybean 4.3. Can anyone help me?

Have you thought about doing a factory reset, and then try taking the OTA? Once you factory reset, don't sign into your Google account, and as soon as you get to the main screen go to Settings > Account > Backup and reset. Then try taking the OTA.

You have a GS4 that can have the bootloader unlocked and a custom recovery, custom kernel, and a custom ROM installed.
It's a pretty easy thing to install a 4.3 ROM onto your phone without losing those unique features. There's lots of us that are stuck with bootloader locked phones that would be happy to swap with you.
If you refuse to root it to install a 4.3 ROM, then you're killing 100 puppies and 100 kittens. Just take the OTA, destroy the unique value of your phone. Sad..
Did I mention that having a MDK phone is valued?

Lmao I didn't know all this. Does taking the OTA mean that I cannot have all the customs I can now? Could you explain to me how I can install the rom, preferably without losing the features or the data currently on it?
Also, I bought this phone for less than the usual price. So how valued is it?

The usual reason that OTAs won't take is that something has designated your phone as "Custom" status.
The other reason is that you don't have a standard phone - it's a developer edition.
Here's how to tell. Settings/More/About Phone. What's in the "Build number"? If it's OYUAMDK (hope I remembered that right), it's a developer edition phone. You won't get OTA offers since Verizon doesn't build updates for that device. Put that on Swappa saying that it's a developer edition and you'll easily get several hundred bucks for it.
If it's a VRUEMDK (again, from memory - what's important is that the build number starts with "V"), then it's a normal phone.
What does Settings/More/About phone/Status say in "Device Status"? You won't be offered OTAs unless it's "Official".
This is odd, but try this:
Make sure all your stuff is backed up with your Google account. Anything on your SD-Card (external) will not be touched. Turn your phone off.
Then:
- Hold the Power + Volume Up button until your screen turns on
- Even if the logo bot logo doesn't immediately come up, release the Power Button (Still holding Volume Up)
- The top Left of the Boot logo should say "Recovery Booting..."
- Once the Recovery boots and you see options, use the Volume Keys and scroll to 'Data/Factory Reset' and Press the Power Button to confirm
- Click 'Yes', and then once that's finished Click 'Wipe Cache Partition' and Click 'Yes...'
- Click 'Reboot'
- The phone could take up to 5 -10 minutes to boot, please be patient.
- Once it boots, skip through the setup, you can add everything later.
-Immediately Go into Settings and attempt to Update it (OTA first, then try this again but use Kies).
If that doesn't work, let me know.

Device Status does say "Official" and the last seven letters to my build number are VRUAMDK. I have not done anything to customize the phone aside from a launcher, so I don't think my phone can be designated as custom..

Do not do a KIES on this phone!!!!!!
No wipe -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
This will aloow you to use ODIN to get your phone back to stock without a FDR.
Look for MDK.
Once you do that, then do
Root for MDK -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798
Then follow the thread further down to install TWRP and then not only can you go to 4.3 but you can go to a Kit KAt 4.4 ROM.
Whatever you do don't kill a MDK phone.
I'd be happy to trade a fully stock MK2 phone that can be unrooted if you like with a glass screen protector, box and factory charger.
It is black.

Please don't give this kind of advice to someone that has an MDK ROM phone.
As a noob you probably have no idea about KNOX and how locked the bootloader is after moving from a MDK ROM.
This is bad advice.

This is bad advice.

With do not do a Kies, do you mean backup? I'll consider the root and flash ****, since it seems like there is no other way to get to 4.3; let a friend help me with that tomorrow. I'll let y'all know how that goes.
Damn, is this MDK phone **** really that good? I thought I had a crappy s4 tbh
Kies is software that runs on your computer. The other user was suggesting Kies as a method to get to OTA 4.3. A bad idea with a MDK phone. Right now you have a phone that almost anyone on this forum would buy. Don't diminish the value by making it like all the other phones with a locked down bootloader.

Please send me your white 32 gig S4 on MDK. I will upgrade it for you and when you get it back it will be a black 16 gig S4 on MK2! LOL. j/k

Too late, read the thread. I already offered a trade.
Hopefully he doesn't take the OTA/Kies and run a good MDK phone.

Do not do a KIES on this phone!!!!!!
No wipe -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
This will aloow you to use ODIN to get your phone back to stock without a FDR.
Look for MDK.
Once you do that, then do
Root for MDK -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798

Actually, I Know all about KNOX and I'm not a noob. He said nothing was custom and he was trying to update his phone, so i'm assuming he doesn't want to root. I'm on build MK2 rooted running HyperDrive ROM 13.0.0, so he can still use a bootstrap recovery, Disable KNOX w/o Tripping the KNOX Warranty Counter and install custom files and run a good custom ROM that offers a custom kernel even.

[Q] Bricked My Phone

Hey everyone and thanks for your help.
I deleted what seemed to me to be some worthless apps from my galaxy pocket neo using an app and now my phone is stuck on the boot screen. I have tried factory resetting my phone and after rebooting my phone will go through the original setup process, but ultimately after going through all the menus my phone becomes unresponsive. I am thinking that I need a new os.
I have seen the other help thread "stuck on boot logo" and I tried to understand the directions giving there, but have so far been unable to resolve anything. If I could get some clear instructions as to what might fix my phone I'd appreciate it.

Go here
Flash Samsung stock ROM for your phone and baseband using Odin. It should be back to normal. It will be back to unrooted factory state.
Alternatively, if your cwm is still working, just flash a ROM zip after wiping data, cache, advamced->dalvik cache.
Do mounts and storage-> mount system->format system in CWM before flashing ROM if above 2 methods do not work (though I'm very sure one of them would work)
---------- Post added at 12:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:50 AM ----------
Make sure that you flash the ROM of Samsung s5312 and not the one mentioned in the Odin guide. Search for it .
I can't seem to find a site that will let me download the stock rom. All of the rom sites bring me to uploaded.net and I dead end there... Is there something I am missing on that website?
Thanks!
problem app system
May be you remove any important system app so i think you should install stockrom by odin or install custom rom ) there are many nice rom such as: cm11 , cm10.1
Same Problem

Ah i see. My apologies, I managed to fix it but it took a while. I had to download the official firmware from sammobile and flash it through odin. When i did that again i was stuck on the boot animation, but what i did was to go into my recovery and wipe cache, dalvik and also user data just to make certain and voila! phone works fine now.
I'm so sorry about your situation man, maybe you can try what i tried if you still got your phone. Its good as a spare!
Well done Sir!
I already spent a full work day on the sucker >.> I am just bitter and can't be bothered. Haha. Glad you were successful though!

*HELP PLEASE* Can i change my firmware? (o2 phone but moved to new carrier)

Hi all,
So i have bought a Huawei P30 Pro from o2 and it is running well however i noticed that it is running a slightly modified version of the firmware.
In the settings app it says:
Current Version:
O2 Apps and Customisation 9.1.0.193(C431E4R2P2)
I am no longer with O2 for my phone contract and have moved to Three as my supplier.
Is there a way i can put the stock Huawei firmware on the device or even the Three customised version?
Thanks in advance.
Geoff
I am not 100% sure, but a factory reset could do just that (install a "clean" rom). But maybe you also have to flash a factory image (this will change it for sure). But, as far as i know there is NO way to do that without resetting the phone and erasing all data

factory reset won't help. he needs to flash the phone with non branded firmware and of course he will lose all data the same way when you do a factory reset.

Actually in a lot of cases the phone comes with the unbranded stock firmware, once you insert a SIM it downloads an update for the carrier overlay, factory resetting without a SIM in can return it back to unbranded
Ok so i managed to get a clean rom and flash it with no issue just using a usb stick and a otg cable. I'm amazed how easy this was.
Hold on a second.......... I thought we needed an unlocked bootloader to flash a different factory image. If not can some one help me. I'm using a P30 lite on Three Ireland. They have blocked the second sim card with the Firmware from what I can see. Can I flash another factory Firmware that is not Three branded??????

Any advice mate..... I'm on Three Ireland would love to know if it's possible to flash a clean rom without unlockedbootloader. How did you manage that?
Cheers

That didn't work for me. Factory reset without sim did not get rid of the provider branding.

Here is a link for the file:
https://anonfile.com/cbD623A7n0/VOG...R2P2_Firmware_9.0.0_r3_EMUI9.1.0_05015TMN_zip
The otg method is here:
Open the Zip and extract the dload folder on the pendrive
- Turn off the P30 Pro
- Connect the pendrive with the OTG cable
- Now press the three buttons at the same time.
- Volume +
- Volume -
- Power button.
(The p30pro will light up and vibrate, keep the buttons pressed)
Only when you see the blank screen and EMUI appears will you release the buttons.
The flashing will start and lasts about 2 minutes.
After flashing the P30 Pro will restart automatically.
