More ‘Paranoid Android’? - Paranoid Android Features Development

Idk what you guys have planned but I'd very much like to see more PA content. One of the major reasons I'm sticking with PA is the style statement and philosophy. So perhaps all those PA characters on Google+ page, etc could make an appearance in the ROM? ? wallpapers, themes and what not

[Q] What does AOSP mean?

I know it's an acronym for Android Open Source Project, but what does it actually mean?
For example in the development section, theres a ROM thread with the title "AOSP ish JK2"
How is this different from non AOSP ROMs?
It means there are no themes or changes from the default. Most companies put different launchers or apps on there. AOSP is the default build that is pure and unchanged from what Google puts out.

Makes perfect sense. Thanks!

What are the main differences of CM9, AOKP, and AOSP

What would be the differences of CM9, AOKP, and AOSP roms out there?
Found this on android forums "marc12868"
"Cm9 and AOKP are both custom roms based on AOSP. AOKP is more like Miui in a sense. You can customize pretty much everything from font colors to notification bar, etc. I've never used it personally, but people like it."

AOSP is Android Open Source Project. Which is the heart of the android OS system.
CM9 is CyanogenMod (ics) It is AOSP but built by third party group of developers. they take Google's AOSP code and improve on it. There goal is to make the most stablest AOSP rom available to as many devices as they can.
AOKP is Android Open Kang Project. it is AOSP but built by a third party group of developers. The take Google's AOSP code and improve on it. But they also throw in a lot of customization that CM might not offer

AOKP roms often have unicorns in the bootup animation, wallpaper, etc., and is referred to colloquially as 'unicorn porn'. Exhibit A.

Unicorn pron is hot!
cant wait for a good aokp rom for rezound... If you tried any let me know. Its hard to stay on one rom... they all have something different in them.
now with that info unicorn porn on my rezound shoot rainbows out speakers awesome.
AOSP means the Android open source project.
Cyanogenmod 9 is based on AOSP.
Then there are ROMs based on CM9 which add a few more features and loads of additional settings menus to further customize the cyanogenmod experience. Examples are Gummy and AOKP.
Correct me if I'm wrong but copy-protected video, i.e. Netflix, will not play on AOKP ROMs.

[Q] ROMs all look the same....

Although many ROM's have different features and add-on's, it seems like most have the same old theme... the ugly cyan blue writing on a black background in all of the menus and settings screens. Are there any ROM's that break from this same old theme?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing anyone or any ROM, I just don't like the dismal blue on black look.
Can anyone suggest a ROM that has a different feel?

go through the dev. section and you will see. Another option is to install a theme (from dev. section as well, there are a few, or Play Store).
and that's why we have the themes section. that's also why there are hundreds of CM themes on the play store.
PS Holo is beautiful

And blue is the worst colour for screen burn in
Yes, I find that every rom that comes out with 4.2 or 4.3 look the same. I don't see any difference so thats why it makes it hard to pick a rom because they look a like, but with different rom names. Is this really 4.3 or is it someones version how 4.3 would look like? I ask because of everyone's vision of how so called "key lime pie" supposed to look like and everyone was fooled into thinking this was the new name. Now, its out and its called "KitKat" and no one knows how its supposed to look like.
I like the AOSP or AOKP but at times it does get a bit boring. I do download themes but most of them aren't fully themed. I'm not a big fan of launchers so I just like the rom for what it is, not because of adding a launcher to make it look different.

The "same theme" is stock Android theme, developed by Google, which exists in stock Android phones (Nexus), and also all clean Android forks, f.e. AOSP (CM) or AOKP.
Personally I love cobalt theme -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dustinb.theme.cobalt and I have little plans to implement it to my ArchiDroid in near future. You know, theme isn't really a problem, because it's a matter of taste. You have a GIANT list of themes working on CM for example, you just need to take a look at themes section.
I agree with you , i also liked it at first because it was new you know have to change to make it look nicer
so all u have to do is just search for themes over the Internet or here in
the Galaxy S III Themes and Apps
PS: they have really good ones .
**don't forget too to download icon packs because it's the real complete for the theme .
But believe me it will be tough to decide which ROM according to the theme of the ROM .
Cobalt is a nice theme. I've been using the "Simplicity" themes which is nice too. I like the flexibility of altering your phone with these themes. I hope that when the 4.3 comes out for us that it'll be different enough to keep on our phones. I just hope that samsung changes TW a bit maybe even making it flat. I hope that more themes get developed so I can play around with them. I like "Lunar, Flatron, and Gem" those are pretty cool.

Cm 11 question

I like the simplicity of cm 11 but the only thing keeping me away from it is a feature. Why doesn't cm have lock screen notifications like other roms?I have seen that the latest snapshot has heads up notifications. Those are cool but I like the loscreen notifications. I know I can use another rom, but other roms have a lot of other stuff that I don't need nor use. For example Like halo omni switch and other stuff.

The best lock screen notification app I've come across is NiLS from the Store. Looks and behaves just like the built in ones you are talking about.
Some Roms just haven't yet included things like that because either they just don't want to or there not at that stage yet where they are comfortable releasing that feature
If you want to try a really sweet rom that does have them along with some other great features without being a total Kanger ROM I highly suggest the latest Vanir Commotio .
It's running flawless for me with Alucards latest kernel. Stable not one FC and battery and performance are awesome.

Rom with Different Looks

Can anyone make PIE ROM which is look like samsung one ui or sony xperia ui with their media apps like music, gallary, and some of their best features or any different look.
Because early days some dev make that type of roms but now days no one make that type of rom and I just bored of same look of every rom
Lol??
Not many innovations had happened in custom ROMs scene for a long time in terms of UI/UX design and overall development is more or less dedicated on porting existing "features". And I doubt that's going to change, since you need people who are capable of not just developing applications, but also who have knowledge of human interaction and design to create something different/new. No one would provide these type of skills for a free of charge, since these are more creative and not just simply technical. So demand of people with said skills are insanely high in the job market. That said there is enough opportunities for them to express themselves out there for a good pay. Not to mention it's not a job for one person but a dedicated team.
So the best that you can expect is ports of said apps and ROMs. And I'm not completely sure, if these specific ROMs that you have mentioned are ported, but I'm certain that you can find quite a few of them from a different (to your mentioned) manufacturers out there. And of course, these types of ports might not be perfectly stable or functional, since, in most cases, you would need to reverse engineer parts of them to make sure they are working fully as intended, because they might not be available as an open source material. So it's not really that simple. But if all you need is a ROM with Samsung's etc. apps, I'm pretty sure you can do that yourself by changing included apps with the ones you like... Not to mention the fact that most of the time - by default - if not in apps, you spend by looking at a phone's launcher. So change that to the likes of Nova or sth. which lets you customize your experience to something more unique.
Try Project Pearl or DotOS
They have some different UI
I don't remember but may be at the time of cyanogen there is cm theme app which have samsung ui, htc ui, xperia ui and different themes which change icons, wallpapers, statusbar icons, fonts, notification, settings, dialers, message, calc app looks.
