My girlfriend Galaxy s2 is having a lot of problems - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
My girlfriend is having alot of problems with her phone lately.
It was turned off occusionaly during the day.
I've replaced the rom on her device and though it would fix it.
I bought the akku polarcell 1800mah for her because I had good experience
on the past with polarcell battery for my previous galaxy s1.
Guys I don't really know what to do and my girlfriend is counting on me to fix this ..
I told her to put some papar near the battery to have it better grip with the electricity circuit.
Maybe there is a Corrosion- how to fix this?
Guys,
Please let me know your input on this and how to solve this.
Looking forward for any input- thanks in advance.
All the best!
thanks you guys

Be nice and get her a new phone. Keep the S2 for your ownself. Problem solved!

You can't really fix corrosion, because it tends to spread slowly throughout the device over time. It depends on what's damaged, if you're lucky it might only be the USB board which is cheap to replace, if it's components on the motherboard then replacing that is more expensive, if it's through the whole phone it might even be a bin job because it's probably going to continue to get worse over time.
Only way to know for sure is to take it to someone qualified (I.E a mobile repair shop) & have them take a look.
Edit - Or...You could replace the USB board yourself & see how that goes. It's easy/quick/cheap (~US$10) to do yourself, search for KeithRoss39's guide in General (search for 'replacing USB charger board' or similar), and if you're lucky this solves the problem. If it doesn't, then you take it someone qualified for diagnosis (and in changing the USB board, as you're pulling the phone apart, you'll be able to see if/how much corrosion is there).

Thanks for the quick replies.
The issue is we don't want to invest money in this and would rather staying with the phone as it is if needed.
How can I make it better?
Any Idea?

Did you even read my post ?
You can't. It's obviously something hardware-wise going on. You can either take that advice & possibly fix the phone, or put up with it in its current state. There isn't anything 'easy' you can do.

SGS2 Resurrection by mobiletechvideos.com!!!!

So I just wanted to let you guys know that I finally thought that I saw the end of my sgs2's life last week. It was a sad moment. I love this phone. This was something the I thought couldn't be fixed due to it being the emmc blocks being f$cked.
Anyways. to make a long story short. I was contacted by Josh at mobiletechvideos.com and he said "don't worry about it, i'll fix it for you." So here i'm thinking "this guy''s crazy! He can't fix this!" Well. HE DID!!!!!! He fixed what I thought couldn't be fixed! I now have my sgs2 back to life.
I would seriously recommend sending your devices to mobiletechvideos.com if any of you have any issues. They do all sorts of great things to many different devices. He received my device and had it sent out back to me within hours of receiving it!!! Really fast turn-around time. I've never seen anything like it. Go check out their site guys!!!!

Yes Josh is a GREAT guy. I have had many phone conversations with him with questions that turned into interesting conversations. He had fixed my Captivate after I finally bricked it a couple years ago. I HIGHLY recommend his work on the SGS1 and SGS2. I am sure he works on other phones as well.

Why not just buy a replacement and do it yourself? Or buy the part and have someone fix it nearby? It's not that hard. You can buy whole lower assembly and replace it too.

This is exactly what I did. Part took a week or two to arrive -- nothing you can do there, but then changing the part took around 5-10 minutes and most of that was having trouble with the power button not staying put -_- It's really easy and it costs like $10. Totally worth it.

Thanks.
Kinda on the fence about doing it myself I replace the housing on an iPhone 3G and it was a pain in the ass. I'll look into it though.

The part is painfully easily to replace, if you need help I can walk you through it! I just ordered the same part for my GF's i777 so when it gets here I can take pictures of the installation if you want!
That would be perfect.
Looking forward to it.

Thanks for the review Sean. It was an absolute pleasure to help out one of my favorite developers as well as the community at the same time!
Keep up the great work!
I just checked with a local JTAG service. they quoted me $75 ($25 more). i told them that's much more than the price i'd get at mobiletechvideos.com, and to put it in his words, he said "those sites are bull****. they will switch out your parts and tell you they can't fix it."
to that i replied "developers and people from XDA have recommended their service" and he told me "you think i don't know that?" That's where I ended the conversation. I don't trust them at all, if all they do is badmouth people they don't even know anything about.
The guys at Mobiletechvideos are first class. They repaired my hard bricked Captivate, & installed the "unbrickable mod" on it for me. They also repaired my hard bricked Galaxy s2. I'd recommend them to anyone who needed their Samsung smart phone fixed.

[Q] hard brick i9300

hi,
my i9300 seem to be hard brick, but i don't understand why and how because i strictly did nothing
my phone is not rooted. it was in my pocket, and perfectly working, a few minutes later i would use it and it died.
i thought it was the battery, so i tried a few things that i could find. but nothing works.
all i tried did nothing (the screen is always black)
the big problem is i'm living in montreal canada and the phone come from miami so samsung want repair it :crying:
help me please
I'm sorry to hear this, but looks like you are one of the many with sudden dead gs3.
If you cannot fix it at samsung. Best chance would be to buy a motherboard or a smashed gs3 and use the motherboard.
I think would be cheaper to send it to samsung and let them replace the board for you. Email them and ask and compare prices.

Galaxy S2 dead ...

Hi everyone, hoping for some help.
My galaxy s2 wont power on at all.... I have tried plugging USB into the PC and pressing Vol Up but nothing - this happened after replacing the USB charge port. The power flex cable accidentally ripped off.
I plug it into my laptop and it starts installing the driver but then fails. Anyone experienced this before?
Detach battery, leave it in 5 minute and attach again , power on. I face this problem before(but the cause is not same to you ) and my phone power on after i do those steps. Hope your phone will work again.
Or you could wait for KeithHarris39 who knows what he's talking about with this stuff to read your thread (he's posted to Q&A in the last hour or two, so he's probably around somewhere) & he'll actually give you some idea of what might have gone wrong/what you can do about it.

something worth ur interest...
If you are describing the flex cable that is/was attached to the USB charger board.....then the 'inadvertent detachment' is likely the cause of your issues......
First, the damage that *has* taken place is likely to have caused a lack of charge reaching the battery....which is likely the reason the phone won't boot....dead battery and no way to charge it.
Second, it's likely the PC isn't installing the drivers as the damage caused is probably stopping the PC recognising the phone for what it is.....we all know PC's are dumb, if they're not told exactly how to do something, they just sit there scratching their metaphorical heads....lol
Repairing this part is *highly unlikely* to succeed........the only option....get another replacement.... the only saving grace......they're not that expensive......

I very much doubt you have anything to say to me in PM that would be 'worth my interest'. However, if you still believe that to be the case, this thread is as good a place as any to say it.

Thought as much but only just got back on here. Thanks for your time. Already ordered the bits that all arrived today ( except I missed the bloody posty )
So I will let you know how my soldering skills hold up after years of being dormant! The board itself seems fine... just kicking myself for giving it that little pull and forgetting that the power button is stuck on. Doh!! The phone is my old one and now belongs to the Mrs... wasn't too happy with me lol. So much so, and I'm sorry to say she switched to the dark side.. iPhone.
Now I think I'll see what ROMs are good for the s4... easy rooted it from day one but now I feel ready for a change. First android I've never completely changed

Nexus 6 oem battery manufacturers

I've been searching the web for 2 days and it seems no one makes OEM replacement batteries for our beloved Shamu.
Post here if anyone has the scoop on battery dealers or manufacturers.
Soon we'll see some battery failures (hope not of course) as our phones get older and wiser
Thanks and flash on....
Yeah I've been searching with no luck. My nexus randomly reboots and does the optimizing apps thing all the time but nitnwhen its on charge, so I believe its the battery. I would like to try a replacement anyway. Hope someone finds one or if any one has a broken one who wouldnt mind selling their battery

If you are running CM12 or 12.1 (maybe newer ASOP too haven't been running that) make sure you are updating your gapps package you are using. I found that I was having these issues and once I updated my gapps package it went away.

I was using cm12 when the issue started but I am now totally stock with the boot loader locked and it is still happening
Do you think this is an issue with how cm12 deals with the turbo charger?
My battery appears to be swelling so I really hopefully a new battery will solve the issue. I have found a company who will replace the battery for about £70 but unfortunately they are unwilling to sell me just the battery. Still got to be worth a go I think. If I take the plunge I will let you know if it works. Seems a few folk are having the random reboot and optimizing apps thing,I wonder how many of them are using cm12.
Thanks for the reply
I couldn't find a replacement battery anywhere so contacted Motorola in the hope they would replace it for me, i was expecting to pay a lot for this as i bought the device second hand from eBay with no original receipt or proof of purchase, to my absolute delight they fixed it for free under warranty and didn't seem to mind that it was second hand etc they checked my iemi number and sorted it out within a week. i'm so happy with Motorola for this, they have earned a loyal customer

I ordered a replacement midframe a while back from ETrade Supply and they stated the same thing about it. It looked the part but had one screw that was philips instead of torx and has some inset serial number lettering missing on the plastic flaps on the inside together with the CE euro logos near the USB port. I'm inclined to believe it's real because I think it would be hard to reproduce it so perfectly.
If someone buys this battery I would like to see the results. To change the midframe I had to transplant the battery and It's very easy to do so. (You don't need to use heatguns at all) just a thin guitar pick. I would avoid pushing a needle through the hole in the sim card tray as you will most certainly pierce or deform your plastic back cover.
The only thing that's got me worried with the Nexus 6 is the reduced battery life in 2 years, so having a replacement battery would be nice.

Sooo... I soaked my Honor 7.

Hi!
To make a long story short, I got my phone nice and wet. After that the only thing that would work is the charging light and "utility" button(flashlight). I disassembled the thing and it had some oxidization goin on. I cleaned as best as I could....Assembled it back and it pretty much does the same thing. Only charges, flashlight works and it doesn't give me haptic feedback but I can browse the phones data storage on my pc...
The reason I'm posting is that do you guys have any insight/experience on similar stuff... I'm somewhat sure its the screen module(digitizer) that doesn't work?
Also, if you have bought those cheap ~30-40€ unbranded replacement modules...are they any good?
You might want to bring it to service center now if oxidation happens. I have a few experience with getting phones wet, but just wet and not soaked like yours. I just let them dry and they are working again.
