Freedompop apns-conf.xml file to get 4G with Ting apn fix for S3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EDIT: I made a better fix available here instead.
Here is the apns-conf.xml file you will need to get 4G with custom mod.
Note that simply changing the apns-conf.xml in the /system/etc/ directory of your phone will not work; you will have to use the Ting apn fix and replace the apns-conf.xml file with this one.

Where should I post it instead?

Post it here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help-i9305 << our 19300 does not have 4g so it would be completely useless here.

Anyone get this to work on CM12? I hear nothing dialing in/out & same for caller/recipient. Are we supposed to add login credentials to APN settings in lollipop? Please help=( Lollipop is so pretty I don't want to go back to TW ugg.

The numeric is your apns MCC+MNC.
For example my carriers mcc is 310 and the mnc is 004. So my build.prop numeric should be 310004.
---------- Post added at 01:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:25 PM ----------
Also have you tried opening the voice dialer app, say "open apns" and then adding your apn. Make sure to name it, hit save and highlight the little circle out to the side to select that apn.
where do I edit this?

The easiest way is the use ES File Explorer (or other file manager). Make sure to turn on Root Explorer, Up to Root, and Mount File System in the settings.
Then browse the the /system and you should see a file called build.prop. Make sure to back up this file (copy and put on your computer). Open the build.prop on your phone and find the line that looks similar to this "ro.cdma.home.operator.number=" there will be a number after the = sign. See if it matches the number from your apn. If not then change it to your numeric and hit save.
---------- Post added at 02:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 PM ----------
You may need to restart your phone. Then try mms. If it doesn't work then add you apn manually using the voice dialer method.

Look up MetroPCS's apns (google is your friend) and see if the apn matches the apn found in /etc. Again you'll have to turn on root explorer and mount file system.
Send me a link to the rom you're using and I can see if the apns match MetroPCS for you.

Try adding your apn using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2053705 (take a look at the backup file that you had from stock) and see if that will get it to work on the CM10 rom you're on right now.
Send me the link to the rom you want to try and I can see if I can edit it before you flash it. I assume you just flash a new rom and gapps through CWM or TWRP recovery?

OK try this. I edited that build for metrics. Just flash it + gapps. https://www.box.com/shared/4q62y4p842xz1rihx5x4
Make a backup first!
Then once it has booted follow these steps to add an apn. https://www.box.com/shared/9oewrge4e4vy6x2bgxhz

Hmm if you want just take a look at your stock mms apn or send it too me and I can add that to the rom before you flash it.. Maybe I didn't quite have the correct settings for MetroPCS mms apn.
So can you not just use the Voice Dialer app to open apns?
You're welcome on the rom mod for Metro, it's always nice when it shows your carrier instead of Verizon

Ok well after doing a bit more diggin on Metropcs it looks like it may not be as simple as the edits I have to do to my roms to get mms to work. Try digging around on here and seeing if any of these methods work for the Droid Incredible 2.

I'm not sure why the modified mms.apk is needed. Someone has apparently made some edits to the mms.apk to get it to work with MetroPCS. You'd probably have the best luck posting which edits were made to the mms.apk. You could try taking a look at the base mms.apk and then looking at the edited mms.apk to see what was changed.
I assume it would work with other roms as long as they are based on the same source (i.e. JB). You can always try it and if it doesn't work then go about getting a newer modified mms.apk file for the version of android you are flashing.

[Q] GlamourS5 problem!

Hello,I installed the glamours5 custom rom on my international s3. I came from cyanogenmod 11 4.4.2, and I did a wipe data. But after I flashed the rom, the sim card and the wifi aren't working, and in the about device the IMEI is unknown. What should I do?? Please Help!
EDIT: So I fixed the sim problem by installing the XXUGMK6 modem, but the wifi still isn't working. I can see the network and connect to it, but then it shows saved, secured.

[Q] Verizon G3

Hi all.
For a little bit, I was running SlimLP. I was looking into SkyDragon and like the looks of that rom, so I flashed the 12b modem and the ROM onto my phone. Now here is the kicker: I have a Verizon G3, and I recently switched to T-Mobile, so the Unknown sim card symbol is in my notification bar, and on both roms I do not seem to get as good service as I used to with Verizon. Now that may be the switch from verizon, but I know people that have other phones that are from T-mobile, and they have excellent service in the same places that I am.
So my questions for now;
Is it possible to get rid of the unknown sim thing?
Is my service situation normal?
Thanks in advance. Any other comments are welcome as well.
