Port replicator - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone tried or know if i can connect usb port replicator to an android phone with OTG cable.
The idea s can i essentially connect 2 monitors to an android device and then use them with VNC to connect to actual computers therefore being able to use the tablet/phone as a very portable computer.
Regards

just tried it with an otg adapter on my note 3 and a lenovo port replicator.
usb ports work fine (keyboard, mouse etc) but I cannot get the monitor to light up...

[Q] MK809III TV Stick and usb hub

Hi all, I have a MK809III tv stick with Android 4.4.2 running. I use it as a mini PC with a LCD screen. I have attached to its USB OTG ports a quadrate 2.0 4 ports USB HUB (google for this and you can see it) , and connected to it, a PS/2 keyboard (using an usbtoPs2 adapter), an usb mouse, a usb ethernet dongle, and a usb sound card dongle. When I use this combo, all works fine, the mouse can drag and select, also wheel works, the keyboard works fine, the ethernet run smooth, and the sound works as player and mic recorder, the only thing not works is to reboot the tv stick, and launch android again (with other MK89III tv stick this also works flawlessly), to get this, I must to unplug RJ45 or usb ethernet. But this last question is not my main problem. The main problem is that I can not make the combo work anyway if I change usb hub model, If I use a 2.0 usb square hub (no name brand) with a little blue led installed, all works fine, but using other hub (I have tested two others), thare is no way to work. The main situation is that the hub stops work, and all item connected not works at all. But commonly, mouse works with a bad behaviour in button response, usb sound disconnects suddenly, or usb ethernet lagg or not works at all. My question is about this behaviour with usb hubs, if there is a special requirements in hardware to match an usb hub with this kind of android devices, or if thare are some drivers that can solve this.
Thank in advance.
Solved
I have solved the two main problems in order to use my MK809III RK3188 as a mini pc with usb hub and rj45 ethernet. The hub must to be a chip on board one, no an all-in-one glued ultra-cheap type, this is a mark of better quality and response, then you can conect keyboard/mouse, usb or ps2 with usb converters, usb sound, and usb pendrives. The ethernet must be an ASIX AX88772C, this a true usb ethernet 100mbps (7MB/s real) device, since I use it there is no lag, no boot errors, no delays or shorts in Tx/Rx. That´s all.

Portable BT Keyboard does not work if connected by USB

I bought a Rapoo e6500 portable bluetooth keyboard
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvim6Gh4hR0
It works perfectly in wireless with either my Android tablet or with my desktop computer
However, it also has a mini USB port (for recharging)
But if I switch BT off and connect it via USB it does not get recognized at all
How come?
Could it be that the USB connection carries only charge and no data?
If I connect it to a linux running computer and give the command lsusb the keyboard does not show up....
Android doesn't work like that. Only charging and mtp protocols are the only ones.

SCRCPY - Connection Help.

i recently discovered scrcpy which imo is an excellent, and superior, alternative to vysor, teamviewer and the like (for my needs, i.e. simple remote control of android).
here's the thing tho, it works beautifully when i connect my pc and android directly using a usb type-c (android) to usb type-a (pc) cable, but it won't work when i connect an otg usb hub to the android and, from there, use a usb type-a cable to connect to my pc.
is this a well known limitation of otg hubs? or should this work? the usb type-a cable i'm using between the otg hub and pc is 2.0, do i need 3.0? or is there a special type-a otg cable i'm unfamiliar with?
i see that these is a way to use scrcpy via wifi using adb tcpip command, but i can't get it to work, and the github scrcpy thread doesn't seem to be very active.... perhaps there's a way to get it to work over ethernet as opposed to wifi? anyway, any help re the otg hub question would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT - problem solved: adb over ethernet instead of usb or wifi.
connected my android (galaxy view) to my network (ethernet) using the otg usb port and now, combined with the "adb over ethernet" app from the play store that i just discovered, the adb connection between my android and pc functions just as if they were connected by a usb cable, no more having to first connect the usb to get wifi to kick in, only to have to repeat this process again and again.
fwiw i finally got the samsung sidesync to work by installing the apk, which i thought would be a satisfactory alternative to scrcpy, and it was ok, but it's very intrusive on the pc side and the mirrored android display isn't that great, distorted, plus it has a chunky blue frame... but now i can use scrcpy, it's so lightweight, and the mirrored display is excellent, both snappy and scalable.
Can i use a type-c (android)to type-c (laptop) to use scrcpy

For others who find this in a search, you can get scrcpy to open up (and then kill the console to get it out of the way) on Android up to Android 11 using the "--tcpip=192.168.0.2:5555" option, but there's new capabilities in Android 12 now that eliminate totally the need for the initial USB connection.
In Android 12 you can also use scrcpy completely over Wi-Fi without first establishing the adb connection over USB like you need to do with Android 11.
There are new commands in the Android 12 Developer options to enable everything to be done over Wi-Fi which I've been using since May.

Second USB port works with mouse and camera , but doesn't recognize enithing else

Hi!
Please, give me advice how to find out problem root with some USB devices that can't be detected/used with my android device.
There is device like car rear view mirror with android. Phisung E06 or any of exactly same devices under different Chinese brands. Every device have touchscreen, front view camera, rear view USB (!) camera, one SIM card LTE, GPS and mini USB connector. Rear view camera connector is 2,5 mm mini jack instead of regular USB connector. miniUSB connector is for power supply and for firmware update from PC. These devices are based on MTK MT6735 chip that have only one USB port (as you see there is two USB connectors and only one phisical USB port) and 2 . Android is 5.1 Lollipop. Кernel version is 3.10.65+
I run dmesg in android console and found following. miniUSB port is connected to MT6735 regular USB port whereas USB camera is connected to inter chip USB port that normally used to work with second SIM card. I soldered DIY 2,5 mm mini jack to USB female adapter and tested it. With USB active hub with external power supply and my DIY adapter I successfully connected and used rear view camera, keyboard and mouse . They are work well. However USB card reader and U-BLOX USB GPS reciever are not detected by android. So I used USB Device Info app to check how my devices are detected by kernel USB subsystem. I was able connect hub to hub to hub and plug my devices to any port of them.
-USB Device Info app on the kernel tab view always give correct HUB hierarchy and point of connection hub/port of camera/mouse/keyboard and it's detailed info (vendor, name, etc.).
-USB card reader is shown too connected but none of my SD card recognized. No info in USB Device. No SD Card files in any of subfolder of /storage folder.
-U-BLOX USB GPS reciever was not detected at all. It's power indicator is lit still. GNSS Commander can't use reciever showing it's offline status. (P.S. Reciver is OK. It is used with PC and OTG port of my android 5 tablet)
The question are:
- why SD card is not detected in card reader
- why U-BLOX USB GPS reciever is not detected at all
I expect both of them are requre data to be recieved from host to control usb peripherial device. Unlike, for example, camera or mouse who do not require any data from host.
Please, advice me what log I need to check, what special apps I need to run, what adb and console commands can help me.
Thank you
preloader
could you plz send me the Preloader because I f*ck up my system and format the whole system :S

OTG problems

I have a 8" MediaPad 5 (SHT-W09 *.0.0.196 (C567)). It works well except I cannot seem to get OTG to work. I have installed a OTG explorer and it finds it has the capability, but when I try to connect a USB stick (or powered hard drive) via a OTG cable, nothing is detected by a whole range of apps.
Any suggestions?
Chris
