[Q] Deleted App with Titanium - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

My Buddy wanted me to debloat his T-Mobile S5 so I went ahead and did the usual but I accidentally uninstalled an antivirus app that had administrative rights and now there is a ghost app in his drawer. I did not bother creating a backup as I had no intentions of reinstalling it. I know I can hide the app using xposed framework but wanted to delete it entirely.
Thanks.

have u tried to reinstall the app?

Always make a backup. Taking shortcuts like that put your friend's data at unnecessary risk and caused your current problem.
You didn't give is any details of whether Titanium is able to cleanup the mess? If not, then try fixing it by reinstalling the antivirus so that it is then stable enough to uninstall in the conventional manner.

The play store recognizes the app as still installed and only gives me the option to deactivate the app. When I do that it force closes.

Agreed on the shortcuts.
I was not aware that titanium may be able to clean it up. I'll research it. As far as the app goes, I responded to that above.
Thanks to the both of you

If the phone is rooted or if you temporarily root it, you can delete the antivirus app with a file explorer (or from the commamd line).

You should find the antivirus app in one of these directories:
/data/app/name.apk
/system/app/name.apk
/system/priv-app/name.apk

Dead App Scrubber or System Cleaner???

I've noticed with a lot of cleaning app's they leave behind unused folders and files of app's that have since been removered and started up a small graveyard so to speak of these app's and their directories...
Is there an app that will inspect your installed app's and then clean and free up space according to what's installed and what's uninstalled but left behind?
Thanks

Do you have root access? Then maybe with a root app uninstaller like Clean Master, there's a few others out there, then a root explorer and delete the left over folders and then running something like SD Maid to clean up what might've been left behind.

Thanks, yea I've been using this for quite awhile, some other options I don't get really but Corpse Finder is pretty good. I wish there was just a corpse finder app all by itself, sometimes I find myself not needing all those extra features.

Yea in order to uninstall system apps you need to root your phone.
System Apps - Preinstalled by the Rom/Firmware
User Apps - Apps you install yourself

[Q] searching an app to backup applications

Hi all!
I am searching an application that allows me to backup the .apk files of both user and system applications like AppWererabbit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196069&page=4). The problem is that i need this app to be compatible with android versions below 4.0, i.e. android 2.3.X.
I have already installed titanium backup on my phone, but i miss the ability to set an automatic .apk backup when each system/user app is updated. I think that to keep .apk files of older versions of the same app could be usefull. Anyone has some suggestion, please?
Have you tried using helium?

Thanks for your reply but, as i have already mentioned in the first post of the thread, i have already have TB. Since TB is "THE" backup application, i have searched through the settings but i did not find the ability to set an automatic app backup when app is updated. If you are saying that such an option is available in TB, please tell me how to find it. Thanks.

I personally use ES File Explorer to backup my apps. Theres an option to backup app data too but thats only for rooted phones. But I'm not sure if it'll work on Android versions below 4.0

As file manager i do usually use ES, but i didn't know it had such a function. You can schedule app backups with ES?
I don't think you can do that.

That is the problem. I searched through the option of ES File Manager but i did not find such a feature. The ability to schedule the app backup (as well as the ability to set an auto-backup when updating) is essential to me.

Help! Unknown apk install runs SMS restore instead, malware?

1_ Hi. Just downloaded tPacketCapture Pro from the following website, and tapped on installing it.
2_ tapping on the apk opened the Messages app and led to SMS restore page.
3_ I closed it immediately, but I'm worried about it. Was that a malware or virus? Does that mean my messages are in danger or have been uploaded somewhere?
4_ phone settings:
* NOT ROOTED.
* ALLOW UNKNOWN SOURCES = OFF.
* I use NoRootFirewall.
Link of the website I downloaded the apk from:
www .apkmonk. com/app/jp.co.taosoftware.android.packetcapturepro/
Most likely. And the fact that you are rooted is a big issue. Also an app can easily hide from apps like that. Never download anything from sites like this. You are just asking for trouble.

Oh sorry I read the firewall app wrong. Depends on how it is coded and the permissions you granted it when it installed.

It's alright!
Actually it did not install, and never showed the install page.
It just went straight to the backup section in Messages app.
Maybe it's a script disguised as *.apk file? But is there such script out there that can manipulate message data and backup/restore files?

problem with launcher 3

Sometimes I get the pop up that the launcher3 does not work properly and the terminal asks me if I want to close the launcher, I close and everything works fine again, but the other day it came out and the problem was not corrected. Now it's slow, I've tried to erase the data and the launcher cache but it's going slow, some applications do not even open. How can I have the launcher again as before?

It's not root with android 5.1. Even now seems its saying its not space in internal storage but i think its not true. I cant open play store neither. Maybe easy option is restore factory?
Indeed, this is a simple solution... You can try it... If the internal storage is runing out of space and you have not installed anything, there's a high probability that a trojan is involved.
install the virustotal onlinescanner immediately after the factory reset and have the system partition scanned on which the the lauchner is.
Remember: After a Factory-Reset all data and apps are gone...

Yes: 1.) Hope you have a backup before this happend, otherwise perform a backup now 2.) factory reset 3.)Install virustotal (https://www.virustotal.com/de/documentation/mobile-applications/) (i will try to attach the app as zip, unpack on sd and install it, go online an scann).
Sorry, run out of time (my business-job)..
its all with a green tick but found this:
User apps:
Cache Cleaner Super: a.gray.generic.h
Instagram: Trojan[SMS]/Android.Agent
System apps:
FotaProvider: PUP.HighConfidence and this other Trojan.AndroidOS.Agent.B
UpgradeSys: PUP.HighConfidence
Now i have to press in every of them the trash button?

Does the apps where only recongnized by one scanner (the first), the probability is high that FotaProvider and UpgradeSys are false/positive.
Critical can be the Cache Cleaner Super... Launcher3 was not recognized by any scanner?
If you don't need the CacheCleaner, delete it.. and install the rest of you apps...
Also install kaspersky and run a full scan, it works for 30 Days with all options ...

Only with root you can go further and delete this apps... if these apps are really dangerous and belong to the system, then you have a contaminated rom. In this case, you should consider importing a suitable custom rom and then re-installing the smartphone... Or root the phone, kill the processes (if the apps are already runs) and delete the apps with for example root explorer...

Kaspersky couldnt find nothing. There isnt a way without root to close and restart for a moment launcher3, i think the launcher restarted kinda bad and its just that. When appears the pop up if i want to close or wait its the same, i cant force this message again?
You can dowload an other (free) launcher, put it on the sd card and install it (without having the phone online). You can use a pc to download the nova-launcher (https://nova-launcher.en.uptodown.com/android/download) (english version). Then start the nova launcher and switch to "always use nova launcher"...
And when nova launcher is working i can force restart of launcher3 then?
you can try this but this is not recommend... if the launcher3 is infected with malware, the worst scenario will happen again...

Yes that one but I installed from play store(didn't look on XDA)
I have same issue too with my huawei mate 20 pro event after update EMUI 9.1 still same issue
Hi there,
Is there a solution for this issue? EMUI 10, same problem continues!
An archive folder in the "Download" folder is also deleted.
I mean (apk files in) Download>Apks>*.apk
The problem is caused by "Optimiser" app, can be stopped (uninstalled) by ADB, but then it blocks battery, notification menus access!
I confirm that the problem is Optimizer.
There is an easy way-out: I solved renaming the files.apk to files.k
It is something dirty.. but it works!
