Power button not working. Need a work around APP - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. Recently my Galaxy s2 power button hasn't been working. As in when I either hold it down or press it, it doesn't lock the screne or pull the power menu. It works now and then but yeah I have to press it over and over again.I plan on getting it repaired soon but I'm looking for an workaround. I've seen apps that let me turn my phone off, lock it and such but nothing brings open the power menu button with screenshot, recovery mode, airplane mode and such. Is there anything like that out there? That with a press of the button it would open up my power menu options

try rom manager

Use "Button Savior" from Play Store.
It is just HW buttons on screen including power button. (Like Nexus On-Screen Keys)
And it has long press power menu also, which shows Screenshot, Airplane, Silent etc.
P.S.
[Free advice]
If you get that button repaired, use something like Proximity Sensor based app which locks and unlocks phone screen. So power button will be used less.
(I know this consumes a bit more battery, but still battery is lot cheap and easy to change than power button)

Press Thanks if helped.

[Q] Hardware Camera Button in CM7

Are there any camera apps for CM7 that use the power button as the shutter control? After having that mod on so many Froyo ROMs, I forgot how crap-tacular it is to use the touch screen shutter button.
Thanks.
I havent used CM7 in a while, but iI remember being able to set the volume buttons as the shutter. (Could set one, the other, or both. I usually did both) Don't know how or if you can use the power button, which is what I assume you are asking for. Sorry.
open the camera in Cm7, menu >advanced options> choose power button to take pictures.

Thanks to both for the advice. Using the power button still causes the screen to shut off (or bring up the menu if I long press), but that same "Advanced Settings" menu can be used to select Volume Up or Down, and that works just as well for me; as long as there is a hardware button to press instead of messing with the touch screen.

I ticked both power shutter and long focus options..now my power button works as the shutter instead of turning the screen off.

Suggestion: Home button on lock screen

Hi folks, not sure if this is the right place for this, but hopefully it will get moved if needed.
So, how many times have you used the menu button on your phone to check the time? And then you have to press the power button on the side to turn the screen off - right?
What if the menu/home button was able to turn of the screen when on the lockscreen? So you only need that one button to turn the screen on and off?
I know, I know, there's a power button like RIGHT THERE...but you have to change your hand position/shape to use it, when the home button is sat there doing nothing.
Is it possible? Does anybody want to have a go at it?
Or am I just a lazy so-and-so?
I have one..but I dont know can it working with your ROM... Im using CrDroid LLA + JKay,, backup your rom before flash it..

[Q] Looking for SGS4 App with button mapping functions

Issue: I have a galaxy S4 that has a bad LCD. The LCD itself functions. However when the phone is locked and the screen is off, when I click the power button, the screen doesn't come back on. But if I click the power button again to lock it and click the power button again to unlock it, the screen will come back on after the second time.
So what I'm looking for is an app or mod that will allow me to map either the power button or even double clicking menu button to have the action of clicking the power button 3 times. Any advice? Thanks!

Close all recent apps button

Hi, today I woke up without any button in recent apps that should let me close all recent apps at once... anyone else with the same issue? any solution?

Long press power button.
On the power off menu: long press the power off button onscreen. Boot into safe mode.
From safe mode you reboot. Regular reboot.
You will get the button back. :good:

[SM-G935] How do I remap my power button?

I want to remap the power button so it toggles NFC when I long press it (only when the screen is on). So far every app I've found is unable to do anything with the power button. I'm using a rooted Lineage OS 18.1.

Try this
Button Mapper: Remap your keys - Apps on Google Play
Remap hardware buttons to launch any app, shortcut or action
play.google.com

Thanks, but that app doesn't work either. It says it can't modify the power button on the splash screen.
Would you want any other buttons, power button turns off the display so im not sure about NFC activating?

Lol, I know it sounds silly, but hear me out.
When you hold the power button the phone shows you a menu with the Power menu and, most importantly, card payment. As I don't want to keep NFC on all the time to avoid battery drain, I had an idea to turn on NFC every time I opened my Google Pay card payment menu (power button hold).
Ahh then you try finding an Xposed module?
You’ll find more chances of success in that way
