See, I don't know about the adapter you posted.
But the Moto E does not generates enough power to power a pendrive.
Might making a kernel for that will do the job, am not sure.
Or giving a power supply by any external source might do it

It need power supply for the adapter to work.
It's like a computer mouse, mouse gets the power via the USB cord.

SD card?

Yes even sdcard needs power which is provided by phone.. But its needs very minor power. But USB will need a power lot more then SD card.

[Q] Normal to lose a gig with new sd card?

So I just got my new 16 gb memory card in the mail. I formatted it thru windows using FAT32. When I put it in my phone it says available space is 15.12 gigs. Is that normal? I feel like Im getting ripped off almost a gig!! Thanks
Yeah, that's normal because the USB needs to store certain stuff on it inorder for it to work.

Er, no. Not in the slightest. It's because manufacturers market things as 1000kb = 1GB, when actually it's 1024, which means you lose a bit of space.
Either way, there's nothing wrong with the card then?

If you think usb drivers take up almost 1 gig of memory you should never touch a computer again.

Exactly!
It's just like how they advertise computer HDD's to be like 160gb but in reality it is 148gb
I see. Thanks for the clarification. Makes sense now.

Usb host working

Hi
I read on a review that someone managed to get usb host on a 2.5 hard disk without the need for a y power cable. I can't get it to work - has anyone else had an opportunity to play with it and get it working?
Cheers

That was me, still works with my WD 500GB portable drive on the release firmware. Yours may require more power than mine though?
Ok thanks for the reply . My drive fires up but no usb storage listed in the file manager unfortunately. Am I missing something? Will dig out my y cable when I get back from camping!

Yeah, your HDD seemingly powering up isn't always enough, had the same issue on an older machine where i had to use a Y-cable despite that the hdd's led powered up as well as i could hear the disk spinning.
That's a shame, I got mildly excited when I read your review! Oh well!

powering a s3 without a battery?

Sorry if this has been covered already but have a question about powering a s3 from external power source
If i have a regulated power supply of 3.8 volts could this be done?
Have seen a similar thing done here to older phone just wondering if anybody did this before?
My reason for doing it is watching movies via host usb drains too much power and no way to charge and usb at same time.
Any thoughts on this being possible...???
Link to method here..

Proof? Without proof no one is going to believe you.
Will do, I don't have another device to take the picture so I'll be using the mirror for my phone I found a old 3DS and remembered that it can record videos (sorry for the bad quality though and the mic is broke so there is no sound) and a different power source called the PocketJuice (http://tzumi.com/manuals/Solo2000mAh.pdf) which supplies a bit more power than a USB port, but just for portability sakes... I'll then edit my thread this post to tell you I've posted it... [right now the PocketJuice is charging/I decided to use clear tape to prove that my phone is connected by wires to prevent any more skeptical assumptions and the blue usb cord I'm using is from a Intel Play Digital Movie Creator that wasn't getting any use so I decided to take it's usb cord... (http://www.intel.com/content/dam/ww...2001-vol05-iss-4-intel-technology-journal.pdf on page 49 for pdf) ]
Okay I've made it new with support here you go...

I am using it and it works great. Got my backups on my 64 gb card in the Meenova and was able to transfer some things I wanted from my card which I had in my unlocked Razr Maxx HD

Is this compatible with any devices? Lets say in G2?
There is a thread dedicated to this accessory. Any questions you have about it have probably already been answered there. Lots of information there!
