Please see THIS THREAD before doing this procedure, you might be able to avoid using the HTC unlock.
WARNING: This procedure applies to flyers (not View) only and should be used only if you get the following message when trying to downgrade:
"Main Version is older! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot"
If you upgraded to HoneyComb using the Official OTA perform these steps, otherwise skip to section "Downgrade" below
Perform a HTC unlock using the HTC unlock website
Download this recovery download MD5: bb366b025dcc454ffe8b21b8bf0c72d0
Download superuser from here
Copy the su zip file to the root of your external SD card.
Boot the flyer to fastboot mode
Flash recover
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot to recovery and install the su zip file.
Reboot to android
Proceed with the downgradre procedure below.
Downgrade
First download the RUU for your device from this thread.
If there is no RUU for your region/operator, download one of the unbranded ones and create a goldcard
If you don't know which RUU to use see post #2.
Download misc_version_universal.zip and extract the misc_version file from it.
If you don't have adb and fastboot on your PC
Get fastboot and adb tool for windows here
Get Fastboot and adb for linux here
check the version number for your RUU
In my example I am using this RUU: RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_2.00.405.3_R_Radio_20.3501.30.08 9BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_194964_signed.exe
The version is the part highlighted in red.
Boot your flyer up to android if it's not already on, with usb debugging enabled and connect it to the PC.
Run the following command:

adb push misc_version /data/local/misc_version
Run the following commands:

$ su (make sure your screen is unlocked so you see a toaster notification if it appears)
# chmod 777 /data/local/misc_version
# /data/local/misc_version -s [COLOR="Red"]2.00.405.3[/COLOR]
Note that the number in RED is the version number retrieved in step 4.
You will see a message about backing up and writing misc partition
Reboot to fastboot:

adb reboot bootloader

Run your RUU
If you have correctly completed the process you will no longer get the "Main Version is older! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot" message and you will be able to downgrade to GingerBread.
Note: By choosing an appropriate value for the version it is also possible to return to a specific operator ROM if you have previously upgraded with a goldcard and you have a suitable original RUU. If using the procedure for a downgrade within gingerbread you must first root the flyer and skip step 8. For example you can downgrade from a WWE RUU to an O2 RUU.

This would be great - I am holding off upgrading to Honeycomb in case I can't revert back to Gingerbread, or in case the leaked version will cause an issue with a future leak or final release of HC!

This thread is a placeholder for all possible firmwares we can get from HTC OTA's.
Your CID number must be exactly the same. If it's written "HTC__001" it means you can't flash it, if your CID is "02__001". The whole text must match!

What is firmware.zip?
Firmware.zip is a part of each OTA update from HTC. It contains important part of the firmware like radio, bootloader, recovery, kernel etc..
Why it's important to flash firmware.zip and when should I flash it?
It is recommended to have flashed latest firmware on your device for best modem performance and system stability. Sometimes it's necessary to have latest bootloader flashed because otherwise your device might not work well with new system update.
Does firmware.zip contains radio?
Yes, it does contain radio, and for S-ON devices the only method to update radio is to flash latest firmware.zip
Why it's important to flash it before flashing custom ROM?
Because firmware.zip contains boot.img (ramdisk and kernel) that will replace custom boot.img from any custom ROM you have. That's why you have to flash firmware.zip first, because otherwise boot.img will be overwritten with stock one.
If you already flashed firmware.zip after flashing custom ROM, just flash this particular custom ROM again.
Does firmware.zip contains recovery?
Yes, it does contain recovery image, that's why after flashing firmware.zip you will have to flash custom recovery again, to be able to flash custom ROM afterwards.
Can I flash this firmware.zip on any HTC One?
Not if your device is S-ON. To be able to flash it on S-ON device, your modelid (example: PN0710000) and cidnum (example: HTC__001) must match the firmware.zip version you are about to flash.
If my modelid or cidnum doesn't match, can I brick my device if I try to flash firmware.zip anyway?
As long as your device is S-ON flashing firmware.zip with non matching modelid or cidnum will result in error and nothing will be flashed, so there is no risk of brick.
Do I need to have locked, unlocked or relocked bootloader to be able to flash firmware.zip?
Your bootloader needs to be relocked.
If I can't flash newest firmware.zip because of wrong modeid (MID) or cidnum (CID) does it mean I can't use custom ROM based on the latest HTC update?
In most cases you should be able to run any custom ROM as long as hboot update is not mandatory.
What if there is no firmware.zip for my MID/CID?
Try to find latest OTA update for your original stock ROM and send it to me. I will post firmware.zip here.

How to flash?
(bootloader needs to be relocked)
Re-lock your bootloader (this will most probably wipe content of your device)
Copy downloaded .zip to fastboot.exe location (e.g. c:/SDK/platform-tools/fastboot.exe)
Re-name .zip file to firmware.zip
Open command prompt
Boot your device in fastboot mode (vol down + power ===> fastboot)
Connect device to the PC
In command prompt cd to fastboot.exe location
Make sure you have correct modeid and cidnum (type: fastboot getvar all)
Type: fastboot oem lock (if your device is not relocked yet)
Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again just to make sure.
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Type: fastboot reboot
Unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery if you are going to use custom ROM.

I managed to unpack the firmware.zip with jZip without any errors. I Investigated the files and I found the following code in the hboot_1.35.0000_signedbyaa.img file (see screenshot).
It seems that the firmware maybe could be flashed to a lot more cids. Maybe the android-info.txt file is responsible for what cids could be flashed cause there are only the following cid listed.

Well, you can unpack firmware.zip with any compression tool like winrar, 7zip, winzip or linux tools, no problem. Also you can't change the CID's list because this will break firmware.zip signatures and it wont be possible to flash it.

Does the red development text on the splash screen bother you after unlocking your device?
If so, I have a modified hboot for you that takes care of it.
This was simply hex edited by me to remove the text from the screen, no other changes were made.
I have tested it and it is 100% proven to work without any side effects.

Ok, Now you have your hboot, proceed:
Place the zip in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
Enter the following commands from terminal/command prompt in the fastboot directory, one at a time:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this puts the device in RUU mode)
fastboot flash zip filename_hboot.zip (this flashes the modified hboot zip file)
Important: the flash process halts at around 75% to 90% on phone screen! This is normal and a safety precaution!
The last few percent is the reboot, which is NOT happening automatically, so you get a chance to check the console output before reboot to make sure it is safe to reboot!
The bar will only fill up to 100% once you type the following command:
fastboot reboot-bootloader (this reboots the device to bootloader)
That's it, you're done. You can now reboot and not see the red text anymore.

Since I initially posted this for the Vzw One(m7):
I had a couple requests for a modified hboot that shows the device as being Locked and S-On, while being completely unlocked and S-Off.
I went ahead and made that as per request and made it for the One (m8), Dna, One Max(t6) and Butterfly S as well.
The process is the same as the one I wrote above, with the exception of the filename.
Which you can change to hboot.img for simplicty just don't forget which is which.

How to install RUU :
1- in fastboot mode - relock the bootloader : run command fastboot oem lock
2- in fastboot mode - flash/run/double click the RUU; follow the updater instruction - next,update,bla,bla,bla until it finish
You need to re-apply for the unlock_code.bin from htcdev.com to re-unlock your device.
So .. if you changed your hboot to 1.20.0000 you can install RUU no.1 or no.2
and .. if you changed your hboot to 1.24.0000 you can install RUU no.3
The process that my Desire X go through after hboot was downgraded to hboot 1.20.0000 and installed the no.1 RUU 1.14.707.1
Then received OTA to update to 1.18.707.1
Then received OTA to update to 1.18.707.3
And final OTA to update to 2.22.707.6
S-On again ??

For the first question, I don't know, for the second one, it's just the vibrations, not more.

I don't think the vibration is really the radio bug because changing the radio, the vibration bug still there.
If you downgrade hboot then install RUU, the radio get updated/downgraded as well but your device will still S-Off. It won't automatically change it to S-On.
And the vibration bug still there too.

No idea .... this is more suitable to be asked in the S-Off thread.
What I know you get that vibration bug and the ability to Hot Reboot is gone. Normal reboot, no problem.
So.. my advise is if you don't have a good reason to S-Off then don't do it and stick to S-On.
Hello I'm trying to s-on and super cid 11111111 back to HTC_032 but to no avail, I get a response Illegal cid size, can someone please help me .. I successfully installed HBOOT 1:24 and then started RUU for Europe and got all the updates and now I'm still s-off and super cid 11111111

Since your device is now S-On, you need to run the S-Off procedure again.

SuperCID is only for people with CID not listed in the list as I posted in post #2.

If your current radio is 1.15.40.04, you already have the latest.
I don't see a need to write how to flash radio for the time being.

Error 130 means you aren't using the right RUU. You have to use one that is specific to your carrier or region and must be the same version or newer. You can not downgrade while S-On.

S-Off might not be the best idea for someone who isn't comfortable with how to search for information on XDA or Google. Double click the RUU exe and follow directions. S-Off can be achieved with Sunshine. It is a paid app. There are no free solutions anymore.

Sorry, didn't realize it was actually the zip as most RUUs are exes. To load the RUU zips you have to boot to the special fastboot screen by using the command:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
then flash the rom zip like you were trying. It might fail after the bootloader, which is common, you just need to immediately redo the command and it should go through.
