[Q] Stock Rom with S-OFF and recovery - HTC EVO 3D

My sprint 3D has a custom rom with S-OFF. It seems impossible to get 3D camera working without stock kernel. I would rather get back to stock rom. Is there is a way to get back to stock rom still with S-OFF and recovery? Or there is already an answer in the forum but I just did not find it?

Actually you can have 3D camera with custom rom. The problem is: it is possible only with ICS roms, because drivers for 3D camera are available only for Android 4.0.3. HTC did not release those driver for newer Androids. If you want to have KitKat then the answer is "no, you will not have 3D".
Example of custom ROM with working 3D: YAS4 v11. That's rom for my GSM but I'm sure you can find something for your CDMA.
BTW: There is a petition to HTC about releasing source code to those drivers. Sign it. Maybe that will help to include 3D in newer Androids...

If you flash the ruu pg86img.zip you will have stock recovery and stock ROM..while still s off

I am on Revolution 2.0.1 by mike1986. It is a great rom base on stock 4.0.3, stable mostly. I just found it lost ring volume sometimes. Other than that it works perfectly. My guess is that stock room might be the most stable and optimized for a daily driver.
evo 3D without 3D makes less sense to me. Also smoothness, stability, and battery life are all concerns for those 4.4 roms.
I already sign for the drivers, but I do not think HTC will release it.

Upgrading Firmware

Hi all
From what i see in the Sensation forums, you have to 'upgrade firmware' in order to install ICS even on a completelt s-off'd and rooted phone. This doesnt make sense to me because youre installing a custom OS which has nothing to do with the official stuff. Anyway the real point.. do we as evo 3d users (gsm) have to go thru the same hastle when ics comes out, and is it a one time thing or you have to di it everytime before flashing a new rom? Man i have no idea how to flash stuff from bootloader or whatever so im nervous about this, im s-off tho
Thanks, expert advice would be greatly appreciated!

Firmware has to be updated to work with ICS kernel (3.x), I believe if you can use a 2.x kernel, no firmware change is necessary.

[Q] mwakious3DromĀ® (M3DRĀ®) V.7.1 based on stock ICS 4.0.3 sense 3.6 and Kernals

I'm very new to these forums, so if I've done something wrong in this post please let me know nicely.
My question is in regards to Mwakious' Evo 3d GSM roms and whether or not i can safely flash custom kernals, specifically Kernal Anthrax. I wanted to know whether it would work or if it would brick the hell outta my phone.
All answers are appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Hi. It won't work. As of yet, none of custom kernels are compatible with ics except for one by mdeejay which would also break your 3d and a few more things. I recommend stick with the stock kernel until new kernels are made for ics.

flashing new firmware s-on

Hey guys, this thread is about flashing new firmware and s-on. I know at the moment it's not possible to flash new firmware while you are s-on.
I read a lot of people can not run properly a ICS-rom cause they are unable to flash new firmware cause they are s-on.
Will this ever change for them, or will they always be stuck with the older firmware and as a effect of that stuck with Gb. OTA updates are also not working for them cause most of the custom roms have disabled this function.
For guys who are s-on and want to try a ICS-rom, i flashed the mwakious rom using 4EXT recovery, worked great for me no problems whatsoever(im still using old firmware:10.59.9020.00_10.15.9020.06)
Anybody an idea, maybe we can hold a little brainstorm session.

Ok, and that is also possible for people who are already running a custom ICS rom at the moment?
cause if the people already run a custom rom, and the dev. of that rom made OTA impossible then that people with s-on will never be able to update there firmware.

htc evo 3d ics or custom jb

hello i come from slowenia.so in slowenia its nothing going on on android forums i ask here.i was buying htc evo 3d gsm version but non from sprint.i will know what its lately best rom that all things works on evo 3d.its that ics official for htc evo 3d or custom jelly bean and if jb than witch rom link or name please.
thanks

Hello. I looked over your question. But sadly most roms on gsm are either broken or missing components. Many users have reported bootloops and freeze ups. So jb maybe out of the question for you. My suggestion is to just gain s-off and root for your stock Rom. You could l look into at ramjet73's very easy guide to do so. Or you could look through the stickies in the gsm dev section.
I am using Mwakious rom GSM
Not one problem
Very stable rom as a faily driver. If you decide on ICS go for that rom

3 flavors of jb for the E3D GSM atm:
AOSP, maintained by Ubuntuz (completely broken atm) v. 0.7.2
CM10, maintained by agrabren(bluetooth, 3D and HW acceleration don't work, data sometimes drops and a few other minor bugs and glitches)v. 0.1.6
AOKP, maintained by helicopter88 (much the same buglist as CM10) v. 2.2
since you just got the phone, i imagine 3Dis pretty appealing to you, so jellybean is probably not a good choice.
I would recommend looking through this index thread and picking one of the sense 3.6 roms as they are by far the most stable:

thanks.so the original ics is the best way for htc evo 3d?i whant knew what is good s-off and root the htc evo 3d?what can i do with s-off 3d evo and rooted phone?please has someone easy way to root my evo 3d.i heave model x515m htc evo 3d.
thanks
So... basically s-off means you can flash anything you like (kernel, rom, recovery, bootloader) it does absolutely nothing for you once the system actually boots.
Root on the other hand allows you to edit system files and use some advanced features once the system is up.
There's no way (as far as i know) of obtaining permanent root without either soff or a htcdev unlock. So that's why the two are often mentioned together.
As far as unlocks go...they very much depend on what hboot you have... the easiest way is to htc dev unlock it,flash a custom recovery, flash the SU binary and finally install busybox or an equivalent. This procedure will switch your bootloader to unlocked and void your warranty so be sure u know what ur doing.
The other two procedures are revolutionary and the wire trick. These actually give you s-off.
Hope this helps.

If you want stable ROM for daily use, upgrade it to Official ICS via OTA. Jelly Bean is still under development up to now.

[Q] evo v 4g questions

A friend of mine uses virgin mobile and just picked up the evo v 4g. i went and htcdev unlocked the phone, installed twrp and rooted no problem. what i need to know being all my phones are gsm and i dont wanna screw up his phone. ive read through a bunch of threads and do i need to the s-off wire trick? all he wants is to run a JB rom. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Im in the process of downloading the QADERSO v2 VM zip file now. ill post the bootloader info as soon as he calls me back but the phone is pure stock ICS out of the package last month. Also any rom suggestions that are compataple with vm? or will the sprint ones work as well?
Thanks again
In order to run jb roms I had to be s off and on hboot v1.5. S off is the tricky part.

I've used both of these roms and like them alot.
FYI neither of these support 3D. You have to stick to a Sense based rom like Harmonia for 3D to work.
Do they run on hboot 1.5? With s-on? Or am I going to have to s-off it later on today
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
These are both AOSP based ROMS so yes you will have to S-OFF for these.
I have run both of them with hboot 1.50
