Also you could install a tool like Titanium Backup or Link2SD or SD-Maid. Either of these tools have some app-control features and maybe one of these still is able "to see" your hidden apps. So you can launch it from this tool app.

Interesting app
Well then I would try out with a root explorer. Open root explorer and make /-path writeable (if not happened anyway).
Then navigate to /data/app/ and search for the "apphide_blabla.apk" (I don't know the app-name) and delete it
Then navigate to /data/data/ and search for a folder "com.apphide.blablabla" (I don't know the real foldername - it depends on your app.)
Reboot and check wether foldermount and superuser have re-appeared.
Then you can re-install apphide and hide them again.

[Q] Astro File Manager 2.5.2

I’m trying to delete a few unwanted apps as in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826491, but their permissions are read only. Does anyone know how to change a file’s permission with Astro?
Try using titanium backup.

Not exactly the answer I was look for to resolve the problem. However, I appreciate the response, but I don't want to download another app because I already have quite a few.
For astro you are looking for something called godmode. It appears to be a script add-on of some sort. I dont use astro though when dealing with permissions, I just use root manager. I have heard that es explorer does have an experimental feature for permission handling.
Edit; root explorer not manager ;/

Titanium backup is the answer. It will remove any app you want, even system apps.
I don't understand why you would not want to have TB, it is an essential app for all rooted phones to backup your apps. But if you don't want the app you can always uninstal it after you have finished using it...
Also it does not take up much space in the memory. You can use TB to move apps onto the SD card to free up more space internally as well

[Q] How do I uninstall the apps that came with Mik's CM7?

How do I uninstall some of the apps that came with Mik's CM7 ROM, e.g. CarHome?
shouldn't it be under manage application ?

I don't think that method works because I tried uninstalling Rom Manager and it wouldn't let me. I think titanium backup can remove the apps, go try it out. I don't want to deal with that stuff so I just hide it in launcher pro settings..
use system application remover works best for me.
Some apps cant be removed, they are required for phone to run. You may remove the others with "manage applications" under settings.

Car Home is required for my phone to run?
Titanium Backup will surely do the work ,any application can be deleted ,but dont delete any system application that is needed by the system.
Use root uninstaller. Just be careful..

Android Market on Samsung Ace

I own a Samsung Ace, and I bought it in Middle East. Apparently Android Market is officially not supported here yet.
Now the phone came with one installed in it. I used it fine, never bought any app but downloaded a lot of free apps. They ran fine and everything was good. Except for one thing that ever since I had been using the phone, it had the habit of occasionally shutting it down.
So I took the phone to Samsung care they rebooted the phone or reinstalled the OS. Irrespective of whether the phone's working fine or not, I no longer see the Market icon on my phone.
I have tried downloading a couple of apk online. But one of them force closed even before the Market opened. The second force closes itself when I select any app from the Market.
I can come up with only 2 solutions,
1. Some ACE user out there send me the apk.
2. Some geek tell me how to find the market apk inside the phone, since the phone came with market installed on it, so there has to be an apk file inside it.
Waiting for everyone's reply.
Login your GMail app.
or, install the CWM and install the gapps from there.
Using root explorer, go to system-> apps-> & install vending.apk

Dont jus say thanks, use d 'THANKS' button. [XDA RULE]
Just instal one of samfirmware ROM (if you brought your phone, then flash all except the modem (Phone)). The european roms have Android Market instaled by default (but you will lose your warranty). If you want, I can write a tutoriual for that.

As long as it has root access, you should be able to shift gapps to the /system partition.
Install ES explorer and in the seetings mark root acess
For me best explorer and it's free

Just Log it in. You should have your market app after syncing your google account on your phone. This happens to me.

com.google.android.maps Removal

Hello people
I have just installed google maps and street view (these are system apps you know and cant be un-installed normally). So i used "Root Uninstaller Pro" to remove them. It did remove them, but now i had four strange apps in my app drawer. When i click them, it says not responding. I am also unable to remove them from "Root Uninstaller" since they are not listed there.
So can anyone please tell me how do i remove these apps?
The app names are-->
com.google.android.maps.Latitude
com.google.android.maps.Place
com.google.android.maps.Drive
com.google.android.maps.maps
Thanks for helper
You mean you have these four icons in your app drawer?

Yes. They appear in app drawer.
Yes. My phone is rooted ofcourse, that was why i was able to use Root Uninstaller.
One thing, when i restarted my phone, those apps are removed from app drawer. Does that mean they are removed from system too?
Yes. I believe so.

If you have root you can check in system/app with a file manager I use root explorer. But if they're gone it's been uninstalled.

I have nearly the same problem, i disabled them but on every restart the y come back.
Simply use TitaniumBackup to freeze or uninstall the apps.
Thanks for help buddies. They are finally gone

[q] help! I've been taken hostage!

Okay, so I was visiting some illicit sites looking for hacking tools and what not to put on my Android phone to use to learn about network security. Unfortunately I ended up getting hijacked by a randsomware virus. To be specific, the PornDroid virus. I have been able to get my phone into safe mode, however I am not able to remove admin from the offending app in order to uninstall it! It has done something making it impossible to remove admin from it! When I attempt to deactivate the admin privileges I get an error message "operation is forbidden! System application can't be deleted." from the package installer.
What do I do at this point short of factory restore? I spent many hours fine tuning all of my settings and would really rather not have to do that again, lol.
Is your phone rooted. If yes then you can download system app remover from playstore as this app can remove system apps and remove your virus app too.But it need root access.
Hope it helps:thumbup:

Unfortunately, no, this particular software has been a PITA to get to root. None of the one-clicks work, and it has a non standard firmware that does not allow booting into download mode. If I could figure out what files the stupid thing needs to run, might there be some key file I could delete to disable it at least? I do have a file manager I can access in safe mode if so.
Tell me the name of that virus apk bro.

I can't. I looked for it folder by folder and there are no foreign apks. My assumption is that at the end of the install it may have deleted itself? This seems to be a very sophisticated version of this virus. There are tuts out there on how to get rid of it, but this variety seems to have really locked itself down.
The only thing that will get rid of it is formatting all the partitions and refreshing stock firmware. If it is as deep as you say then even a factory restore won't get rid of it.

Once again try reading before posting. The OP already stated that he doesnt know and cant find the apk name. So there is no deleting the apk. It has most likley hidden itself into one of the system files.
Only option will be to format and reflash
Then sorry I cant help.

Well, I did a reset. Thanks for the suggestions.
