[Q] Root for 13/14.3.2.4 ... - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Is root ever coming to this update? I've seen several threads with "possible root" but I'm looking for an actual solution. I'm dying to get my hands on the Play Store, Xposed, and Safestrap on this device, just like I did on last year's HD.
(Also, is there any way to stop those stupid amazon OTA updates? Thanks!)

Towelroot is possible to root 13.3.2.4 (As reported somewhere here) and the new version of Safestrap are updated for 13.3.2.3.2 and 13.3.2.4

I was reading and was about to do a face palm Lolhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...update-13-3-2-4user324002120-able-to-t2800584
I guess it was all the way at the bottom of the first page of general but it was on this page LOL and I believe that the same root method is mentioned at least once in almost every thread of the first page of troubleshooting and general and I'm sure many more threads on the second pages. BTW poster this is not the HD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786190 just FYI.. As of this day still no easy recovery of this device if any depending highly on your abilities perseverance and willing to research thoroughly before any attempts .they are working on things... but not yet available to the public.

[Q] Rooting after OTA

I was stupid and took the OTA... What are my options? Could I somehow downgrade? How would I do such a thing? How do I go about backing up just in case I derp it up?
There are many threads about this already. Answer is no. Not yet.

Dont mean to be an ahole, but please do a search before you create a new thread that has already been created to address Rooting before and after the OTA. (remember, the #1 rule here is to search first then post a question...otherwise they incur infractions...trust me they do give them out..)
****Dev, Please remove this thread as this is already answered in another thread.
I'm seeing all these threads with dumps from a Gamestop device. Instead of simply pushing the question away, maybe we should try posting solutions. I've also seen some dumps on this server: httpColon//nobcat.com/
that say they're for the Prime. I did a search and it was all ended in irrelevant information, hence is why I posted.
Yeah, but there is at least 4 threads about the rooting and issues of the OTA. If you have any new idea's or thoughts, it would be beneficial for them to be put in one of those threads so we don't have to bounce around to many threads to find an answer.

while i agree in concept about finding a way to get root back..so far the only root process available even before the OTA was by Razorclaw. Clockwork, spacemouse and others I know will / are working hard to figure something out along with Razorclaw (my speculation as i don't have any affiliation with anyone who does ROMs..i'm just a fledgling app programmer).
To answer your statement "instead of simply pushing the question away" ..um...the following thread is quite active at answering the Root conundrom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400495
Again, please review current active threads for solutions.

Didn't see this one as active, thanks
You sure I'm not going to be yelled at for bumping a thread? And on a side note, why can't I write to the Music, Pictures, or Movies directories?

Post OTA Root Thread STICKY REQUEST!

Ok, the "How to Root" thread and the various ROM threads are getting confused between those that "unlocked" vrs. "soft-rooted" vrs "hard-rooted" vrs. those that accepted the OTA and those that didn't. Plus we have those that were rooted but tried to unroot before taking the OTA. With the "how to root" thread and others there are instructions that don't work anymore if you took the OTA and, while there may be explanations of the issue, they are burried deep in the thread
What we could use (and hope this thread becomes) is the place for devs to post progress on Rooting the LTE for phones that accepted the OTA and, as methods are developed, people can respond with issues that may arise.
Great idea! Why don't you consolodate all that info, format it nicely, and put it into OP so we can all benefit.
how about people just read properly
without jumping to flash anything that pops up on their screen or clicking every one click method that they see
Or maybe people can be polite and not so judgmental and be helpful instead of walking around thinking your better than everyone else.

And on top of which, there are plenty of people that will be getting the LTE from here on out that will have the new update on it already and those that were waiting to root until an ASOP ROM came out that saw no reason not to accept the OTA since they had not rooted yet.

I don't think you realize how involved it would be to compile that information, present it cleanly, and keep it up to date. I emphasize keep it up to date because this info changes every single day. There are numerous root and unlock methods, most pre-OTA, some partially work post-OTA.
As a non-dev but android enthuisiast, I check relavent threads about once a day to follow progress and even doing that I could never keep up with everything that's going on.
I'll admit my previous post in this thread was a bit snarky but people have to be realistic. Unless someone has the time and dedication to just do it themselves, this request won't happen simply because someone asked for it. If it does happen, the information will just become out of date in less than a week!
Finally, I have some advice for people eager to root and/or flash roms. Sit back and wait a few weeks. HTC just released the kernel source a few days ago and the real magic will start to happen. The new OTA will almost certainly be rooted and unlocked and someone will create a noob-friendly procedure to follow. Your best bet is to watch for updates to the stickied threads in the development section(s).

Kingo Android ROOT unsafe and not approved by XDA?

In the Verizon Galaxy Note 3 section a mod stated that there is breaking news about the app potentially not being safe.
Can we have an official response on XDA's stance on this app?
Oh man...
I decided to take the plunge to use KingoApp on my Verizon Galaxy Note 3 after seeing this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2460745&page=8
"Everything's resolved, no security concerns among any of the staff.
Thread opened."
Then there are other mods stating in other threads that there are still concerns?!
Color me confused...and a little bit worried...anyone have any more information on this?
This is a little unsettling for those of us who used it recently.

From what my google research has lead me to believe, there is just something between XDA and Kingo going on. Everywhere outside of XDA gives it great reviews. I am wondering if its because Kingo isnt wanting to give up the exploit because maybe its a high level bug that they wouldnt want Google patching.
I see it fishy if they require an internet connection if you already have the drivers installed and your PC already recognizes your device. But on the other hand...
I am hearing very very generic reasons as to why they are against Kingo. I would also like an explaination as well. Especially since many of their members have already used it and would like to know if they need to take any specific precautions???

[Q] I want to get the Google Play Store working on my HDX 7"...

..what exactly do I have to do? I don't care about the other Google apps. All I want is the play store. Do I need Safestrap for this? If not, where can I find instructions on how to root?
There are about 3 threads in this section of the forum that have step by step instructions on how to achieve this. It's even in the title!

Excuse me, but the specific question I asked isn't answered, or I'm having trouble finding it.
I'm not interested in flashing anything if I can avoid it (i.e. Safestrap).
If I can, I just want to root and get Google Play Store working on my HDX 7". Can you direct me to something that tells me how to do just those two things?

You're not excused. The answer was given to you. There are 3 threads alone on the front page telling you how to do that.

You've got someone here, like myself, obviously new and asking for guidance. Do you guys have to make an effort to be this level of asshole, or is it a natural talent?

If anyone is being an asshole here, it's you.
It's common courtesy on this site to forward people to other threads for previously answered questions/requests, like these:
[FLASHABLE ZIP] Working Google Gapps ! (hdx 7")
[ROOT] Rooting tutorial - hdx 7" 13.3.1.0
How to Install Google Play Store
This keeps the forums clean and makes it easier for everyone to find what they're looking for. If you don't have the time to look in thread titles to find what you're looking for, no one is going to take the time to help you. And if you don't want to take the time to browse a mere 2 pages of thread titles (since all three of the threads above are from pages 1 and 2), there's a search bar for a reason. Use it.

I'm curious, sunshine, do you always have a need to demand things without doing the proper research? Do you literally go through life arguing with people who give you an exact answer telling you where to go and what to do to get what you want?
Let's recap what I told you:
"There are 3 threads about this on the front page"
1) there are three methods depending on your device.
2) they're on the front page.
How is that not giving you want, princess? I'm sure if you would lift the satin flaps from over your eyes you'd see that indeed, I gave you the answer that you needed. Now, kindly, go brick your device so we don't have to listen to your demands again.
Forgive that idiot for not knowing what he (or she) did.

[Q] 4.3 OTA install Cyanogen or unlock bootloader?

I use to have a Galaxy note 2 on 4.2.1, and then I cracked the device, Due to my warranty with Verizon they send out a refurbish. device running 4.3 OTA. Unfortunately I couldn't install Cyanogen on this, has anyone found a bypass for this yet? or should I update it to kitkat? I am wanting to run Cyanogen on this device, but it won't let me. I already bricked it trying and had to buy a new device. I would really like Cyanogen to run if anyone has found a bypass for this. I have the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 running 4.3 at the moment. I do have Alliancerom at the moment, but that doesn't cut it, Cyanogen is the best.
Let me guess, you lost your Google-Fu

Based upon every post that I have read that YOU failed to read, THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION TO UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER. My prescription for your classic case of "PLZSPUNPHEEDMENOW" (yes thats all one word)

2) use search queries in this forum (You would the gotten an answer a billion times over and over without having to post your crap and complaints)
3) stretch those Google muscles. (yes the answer is out there on other websites too)
4) and if all else fails, you can break away from your lazy and unintelligent ways by developing YOUR own solution. this is a developer forum right? GREAT! start developing and contributing. thanks you come again.
