[PORT] [ALPHA] Sailfish OS for the Nexus 5 - Nexus 5 Android Development

So I'll make this quick... just doing some google kung fu, I came across a Spanish forum... HTCMania (http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=836297)
Word is that user Davidvaz is responsible for this work and all credit goes to him as such, as I said I didnt' build this, just found it.
Low and behold, someone built a working Sailfish OS port for our Nexus 5... and it's actually pretty dang functional... You had to flash it on top of an existing CM 11 install and stuff.. but I combined the two and rewrote the updater script into one flashable zip.
Here's a rough idea of what works and what doesn't:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Also not working: Terminal Application. Installing applications from the Jolla Market.
This is very much a work in progress but it's very functional and I'm very impressed with Sailfish. Have fun!
Oh! And I'm pretty sure you can make it work with MultiROM if you have a primary that utilizes a kernel with kexec hardboot support... Don't quote me on that! I don't use it so I'm not sure... I'm sure someone will make it work if it doesn't already, though.
Download Mod Edit:Link Removed.. sorry copy.com is lame I guess, haha. Once someone downloads if they could mirror it on mega or someplace.. upload stinks.

Looks interesting, will download once upload's done.

upload is done. let me know if theres any issues with the updater script or flash itself..
Issues with the rom, however, I probably won't be able to assist you with.

Thanks for finding will give it a go....never enough roms for this rock bottom crack flashin fool.... Thanks for feeding my addiction... And glad you checked HTC Mania Ive found a few there, VampSkyDragon (lol that name cracks me up) and SlimVamp (again lol)... Probably one of the least likely Nexus 5 Rom places you'd think to look but they do have some so good lookin out.

So basically any cm11 rom then ill flash it over it?

No need to flash cm11.
It is clearly stated in the op that it is combined and there is no need to flash cm before flashing sailfish os.

Thanks for the time you spent on this. I'll try out multirom now. Can't even begin to express my excitement!
EDIT: I spoke too soon. The download is not working.
Code:
{"result":"error","error_code":"1048","error_string":"Link 'NiiPOdORFQSo' has been flagged as abuse"}
EDIT 2: If you can figure out a way to get it to me, I'd be happy to host it for you. Mega, perhaps?

Can't download it. Can you upload to another site?

Yikes, Yeah for sure I'll try to figure out why copy flagged it.

Updated the download link..
Edited OP,
Once someone with a fast connection downloads it, if you could please mirror it on mega or androidfilehost.. my upload sucks
Thanks.

This is only the Sailfish OS, you need to flash CM11 first before flashing this on your Nexus 5.
Mod Edit: Link removed
I tried it, working smoothly, however you cannot install Android Apps yet, Home screen doesn't align well and camera is broken.

Anybody try it out yet and is everything working? Screen shots would be nice to see =) Thanks!

Hi there. I know it's not my problem. But I know the guy who did this work in HTCMania and others here on XDA. He is Davidvaz, I use one of your roms, and I think you should at least mention it here.
At least say his name because many people do not look at the link, just go directly to download

Here's another mirror just in case, hosted personally. Trying to get it running on multirom right now

It has CM11 included, as per OP.

Well, no luck on MultiRom and not familiar enough with it to know what to do next. Hopefully someone else can work that one out!

Installs successfully in MultiRom but does not works. Sits on Google Logo during boot.

Don't use multirom to install, install it as main ROM then after you boot it and set it up move it as secondary, won't work if installed as secondary

[APK]<demo>NFS: Shift

Hey guys I yoinked this demo of NFS Shift from my friends Droid X.
The game installed and runs great on my vibrant, you CAN'T buy the full version, it will just sit and try to connect for a few minutes then fail and tell you you have to be connected to the VW network. From what I hear it will be a Droid X exclusive for a few months, then come to the Market
Enjoy

You probably shouldn't run untrusted programs with full internet access with an available data connection active anyway or use something like droidwall to prevent it from calling home. The same could apply for offline-centric applications requesting full internet permissions.
This demo doesn't appear in the system dump somebody posted, I guess it was either removed from that dump to save download size, is present in a different firmware or is side-loaded courtesy of Verizon afterwards like the 'Samsung Apps' does.
It doesn't look anybody has tampererd with it if that's what you're asking. The modified file date on the files in the APK indicate it was compiled on 16/06/2010.

Won't get you too far if you're just going to be paranoid about every app. What's next? people are going to start questioning ROM from a new developer and say oh.. this ROM is probably malicious and steals ur google login.

Please forgive my ignorance but i downloaded the file, which is an apk.zip file, and cannot figure out how to install this file. I tried putting it on the root of my SD card and installing that way with APK installer, but it could not find the file. Tried using Winzip to unzip but then i dont know which file i need to install. Do you have to have root to install this via the recovery? Please let me know.

Extract.
the file should be ending with .APK nothing more.
put it anywhere on ur SD Card,use a file manager such as Files (preinstalled on Vibrant), ASTRO, Root Manager or whatever.. direct it to where the APK is then install it. it'll probably ask about Unknown Sources, just check that too.
Just got it to work. Here is what i did in case anybody else is having trouble. When i downloaded the file it ended with multiple file extensions, .apk.zip. Did not think of it at first but went in and renamed, removing the .zip and leaving only the .apk at the end, and installed via apk installer. Works like a charm

[VZW] Stock Rooted Odex/Deodex

Disclaimer: Flash this ROM at your own risk. I am not responsible for what you do on your device. I left this stock to provide a base for anybody that wants to use it. Mod this rom how you want. Just please remember to give credit where credit is due.
This is a pure stock rooted rom. It has items like busybox, init.d support, unsecure boot.img and so forth. No apps were added or removed. Both Odexed and Deodexed versions below.
This is using stock unmodified zImage from HTC. Kernel source can be grabbed from HTCDev when they decide to release it
Downloads
Thanks to rhcp for the dump and testing
Move along from this post (not thread) people, nothing to see here.
Vinchenzop said:
Here is a unsecured version of the boot.img I made. Either flash via fastboot, put into the rom.zip from above, or someone can make a flashable zip for it.
This kernel is unsecure for root, and adb superuser permissions (being able to mount system r/w via adb).
Again, it's only the boot.img, not a flashable zip.

The only rom so far that installs the kernel is Barren v3.
Or you can get the flashable stock kernel from the Stock ZV4 ROM thread.

Stagefright Fix

I have pulled the appropriate libs from the OH1 update and put them in a flashable zip for those of you who want a fix for the stagefright Vulnerability, but don't want to update. I am currently on the OC5 build and I flashed the zip and the vulnerability has been fixed.
IMPORTANT: I have only tested this on the stock deodexed OC5, I can not speak on if it will work for anything else. If you're not on the OC5 build flash at your own risk!!

Hey JoHnNYBlaZE716, the binary-script removes the calendar and stuff since the script was from another package. I am not that familiar with Stagefright but I assume only the library files are needed since they seem to be the only thing in the system path.
Code:
delete("/system/app/Calendar.apk");
delete("/system/app/GoogleCalendar.apk");
delete_recursive("/system/app/GoogleCalendar");
delete_recursive("/system/app/CalendarGoogle");
delete_recursive("/system/app/Calendar");
Sorry I took a zip I had laying around, I'll fix that asap

One of the 2 apps will show as vulnerable still due to Google not catching the issue all the way. It is something on googles end that's all I know. There will most likely be another update fixing it completely. The app you're using should only show one of them in red correct?

I honestly can't answer your question, I've personally only flashed it being on a stock oc5 rom. No one has reported any issues so I don't know why it wouldn't work. The files were pulled from the oh1 update for the sprint note 3

@GuyInDogSuit yes, I changed my DPI. Sorry about that.
Cheers, I will close my thread off now, as this is newer. Thanks for hosting.

Is it set to 460? That's what ROM Toolbox is telling me.
Just flashed this and everything looks to be working great. Thanks again for doing this, the upgrade prompts were driving me bonkers. I did notice the dpi change and I like it. Much cleaner.

I don't know how to change it other than with an app once it's flashed.

I have Android Pay working on the official LVY48F image, but I'm pretty sure the DPI change that was done with this will not work with it. Also had to hold off on rooting until after it was set up.
Sorry guys. I didn't mean to change it in the rom. I just wanted it set to 460 on my phone. I can give you a different build.prop file or correct it and upload again. Give me a second and I'll upload a correct build and a 2nd flashable zip to correct dpi only.
EDIT: Attached is the flashable zip to set the density to 560 which is stock. I am uploading the full ROM with it corrected and I will post the link here when it's done.
P.S. If someone tries the attached zip, please post and confirm that it fixed your DPI. Thanks!
Here's the link to the same build with the stock 560 DPI: http://d-h.st/K2Ee
thx boss the way o wanted appreciate it

I'm getting a system update notification. Go ahead, or ignore?

You shouldn't be receiving an update message is you're running this build. Check your settings about and make sure that your build number is LVY48F. The update will fail if you try to accept it.
I got the update notification when I first booted but have not seen it since.
Was running the wrong version, 48C, my bad. Thanks guys.

If you ever get another one, don't update. It'll fail if you have a custom recovery. Even if you had stock recovery, you'll then lose root and be encrypted again. Wait for a ROM update.
^^ what he said, learned that the hard way

I think it'll fail even if you're so much as rooted.

Hello everyone,
I'm running into an issue here, I flashed this ROM so I could activate my Project Fi invite. Unfortunately, I am getting the same message as I've gotten on every other ROM. First, I will get error T301 and cannot do anything I'm the app. Eventually I get around it by attempting to choose network operators in the settings but get stuck at the part where I am trying to transfer my number. After typing in all the account info and selecting next, I get a notification at the bottom of the screen that reads "something went wrong".
I've been wondering, do I need to flash any of the radios, base (baseband?), or any other of the things that are linked in the OP? If so, which ones?
P.S. I have never flashed a different radio or bootloader etc. on this phone since I purchased in May.
If that's not the case does anyone have any idea what could be the issue? Any help is highly appreciated and I thank you in advance!
